[YEA]  12/15/2013: Anon from Anon: "While we're on the gyno subject, someone said cayenne will stop bleeding during your period. I took some last night and my period which is usually heavy was much lighter. I happened to have taken the cayenne with cinnamon, which is said to have the opposite effect, so that may be why I had any, as opposed to no, bleeding during the night. If your periods are heavy absolutely give it a try. Just not together like I did.

God bless! Pray for Ted that the captors hear his case, take our side, and release him!!!"

[YEA]  05/18/2013: Cat from Ireland: "I have taking cayenne for one month, one capsule daily. I'm 42 and this period that I am having this week is the 'best' EVER. I have suffered from clots, pains, cramps, flooding ALWAYS... 7 days straight.. Using nearly a pack of towels each day.. This month... Not much pain, , no clots, three/four pads daily... BEST OF all no flooding.. This is a miracle. Try for one month.. Noting to loose.. Best taken with water. Might experience little heartburn... Fantastic.. Can see other benefits emerging too. GOOD LUCK."

01/23/2013: Nicole from Melbourne, Australia: "Hi there, I have just started to use cayenne pepper for my heavy bleeding but I'm only taking a small dose maybe 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper in a glass of water once or twice a day, I haven't seen much difference but I know that it's good for menstrual cramps and bleeding but can it also be good for fibroids or endometriosis or polycystic ovaries? I'm worried I may have fibroids and they aren't showing up on the ultrasound and maybe cayenne pepper can help with the bleeding but not get down to the actual problem. Hope to hear back from someone and thanks earth clinic for all your help."

[YEA]  03/04/2009: Isabel from Tampa, Fl USA: "Cayenne Pepper for heavy periods: Take 2 capsules of cayenne peper when you have heavy periods wait one hour and take 2 pills of cayenne pepper wait one hour to see how you are doing, if still heavy take 2 if you are doing better don't take the third dose because you period will disappear and you won't see it until next month, I have done it several times and never failed, I used 40.000 Hu and 100.000 Hu and I always got good results."

[YEA]  11/26/2008: Victoria from Charleston, West Virginia: "I was on the depo shot for a while and it messed me up bad, I was having my periods for 6 months straight no days off, then it went to having them every 2 weeks after i stopped and no doctor could help me, so my aunt told me to try Cayenne Pepper because she does the whole herb thing, and it worked...it completly stopped my period and after I took it 4 days later I got pregnant which was what I wanted because I couldnt stay off my period long enough to get pregnant...I love that stuff now it stopped it within 2 days."

[YEA]  10/17/2007: Samantha from Portland, Oregon: "I found cayenne a great cure for pretty much everything some time ago. It wasnt long ago that I came down with a bad sinus infection, cough, and fatigue. I decided to boil water on the stove, and add cayenne(open 3 capsules and pour them in), crushed garlic(4 cloves),half an onion, and grated ginger. THIS COMBINATION IS AMAZING. It is SO powerful. The most vital ingredients are the cayenne and garlic, but the onion and ginger are also very helpful. Make sure and boil everything until the onion is mushy, and the garlic is too. Keep a lid on, but every so often inhale the steam from the boiling remedy.. very soothing! Pour it into a glass and drink the whole thing. It is very potent, so what I do is add honey to it and it really tastes like liquid food- like a soup base or something.

Another remedy that I use is cayenne tea- just put a tea bag of your favorite tea in boiling water, and add a capsule of cayenne & some honey. Since I have been using cayenne in tea, and orally, and drinking the onion ginger garlic tincture, I rarely get sick.. and when I do, I can kick it within 3 days maximum. Cayenne is also extremely helpful for menstrual cramps."

08/24/2008: Michelle from Round Rock, Tx: "I had not had my period in a matter of months. I thought it was because I had gained some weight and I tend to miss or skip when I lose weight or gain. Well About 3 weeks ago I got what I thought was my normal period... this time it isn't. I haven't stopped bleeding, not even slowed down. I've gotten large clots as well. I'm kind of scared about it because I'm feeling weak and tired as well as sick and tired of it. I cant do anything."

Cinnamon works. After reading about the cinnamon tea here, I decided to give it a try for my extremely heavy and prolonged bleeding. After having an entire day of heavy flooding, I tried 1/2 tsp of cinnamon in my coffee and kept stirring it as I drank it down. Within the hour, the flooding completely stopped and my period became very light. I also felt a boost of energy.

Later that evening when things picked up again and got heavy, I took 2 cinnamon capsules I had on hand and got the same response, the bleeding went lighter. Cinnamon also took away my painful cramps. I could not believe it.

The next day, I tried it again and to my surprise it worked. I continued cinnamon the next two days and my period came to an end much sooner. I would say, don't overdo it however. If you research it, cinnamon can also be known to bring on bleeding for those seeking to start their periods. I stick with 1/2 a tsp in the morning, and 1/2 tsp at early evening and that seems to work fine. You will have to find your personal balance.

If you are experiencing heavy flow and it's going on too long, and seems not normal for you, then please do get this checked out and make sure it's just hormonal. And please make sure you do not get anemic. I let it go so long, I almost lost my life and had to have multiple transfusions. I went through all kinds of testing, ultrasound, ct scan, biopsy to make sure I didn't have anything going on. When I got the all clear, I went right for the natural treatment. It's worth the peace of mind to make sure and, when you know what you are dealing with, you can go at it with a treatment. Peace!"

I als read that it helps with regularity so decided to take it internally (1tsp) for that. Well I didn't get that effect either but amazingly I tookit around the first day of my period and I noticed that my period stopped for a couple of hours. Whenit came back I took another tsp and it went away for two days. It eventually came back but the flow was low and totally painless. I googled the effect and foud out people have been using it for this purpose for centuries. Wish I had known earlier."

[YEA]  10/11/2011: Cece from Elmont, New York: "Menstrual pain became so severe for me that I wished I did not have a period. The pain would hit me so hard that I felt nauseated. One day at work, out of sheer desperation I went into the bathroom, wet a wad of paper towel under hot water, went into the stall and sat with that hot towel clenched on my belly button. I sat there and suddenly - splat! - I looked down and a fat blob of curdled blood looked up at me - and the pain was gone! I started examining what I ate via a journal and realized that things such as cheese, white bread (margarine), beef and alcohol cause me distress when it came around to my menses. I theorized that it was the food I was eating that caused a problem with circulation. I stopped eating all forms of dairy, started drinking lots of room temperature water.

When it was time for my menses, I drank lots of plain room temperature coconut water with a dash of cayenne pepper. That put an end to the debilitating pain! I've passed on the remedy to all my friends. Even if you don't practice good eating habits, when that pain hits, reach for the room temperature coconut water with a dash of cayenne pepper! IT WORKS in half an hour! If you don't have coconut water (no cans, please), use semi contra tea aka mexican tea, american wormwood, epazote with a dash of cayenne."

[YEA]  08/16/2011: Katherine from Seattle, Wa: "My mom used to have incredibly heavy menstruation and she used cod liver oil, but in the liquid form because she was taking so much.

The heavy menstruation was caused by uterine fibroids, but I imagine this would work with other causes, too.

She was taking usually about 3 tablespoons per day, but at one point took 5 tablespoons. This was when it was REALLY bad. Just keep in mind, however, that this is a little hard on your liver. You may feel very low on energy shortly after taking this much CLO because your liver is trying to process it. She really found this to be true when she took the 5 tbs.

The CLO worked really quickly, and she also lost weight while using the oil."

[YEA]  02/16/2012: Anne from Chicago, Il: "I recently have been getting really heavy periods with the most painful cramps I've ever experienced. I considered going back on the pill but decided to see if I could find another way first. I realized that recently I've been drinking a LOT of soymilk and eating a lot more soy products than I used to, so I thought maybe the isoflavonoids (sp?) might be contributing to higher estrogen and therefore worse periods.

I simply switched to almond and rice milk and this month my period was completely bearable. (It was also a week late. ) So, it's only been one month but I thought I'd share in case that's the connection and it could help someone out!"

Epsom Salts

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Denise from Georgetown, Guyana: "My remedy for keeping crippling cramps and bloating at bay during my period is a very simple one that only requires ONE DOSE per month. I simply take 1/2 teaspoon of epsom salts in 1 glass of water on the 2nd or the 3rd day BEFORE my period begins and I have very little pain sometimes but NONE AT ALL most months. A dear friend of my mother's told me about this a few months ago and I've used it religiously since. I've even told my friends about it and I find that I don't experience any bloating either. I am sure this will work for you. Usually I mix the salts with a senna leaf solution but this isn't necessary. I would drink at least 3 glasses of plain water during the days before (this makes your flow heavy on the first 2 days but it gets lighter after that). The dose of Epsom salts is too small to hurt your tummy or give you more than one extra trip to the bathroom but it is enough to effectively clean your intestines."

11/02/2009: Sanddollar from Billings, Mt replies: "I am going to try this and let you know how it goes. I have been reading lots about the amazing benefits of epsom salts that have been discovered lately (they help absorption/regulate insulin, prevent cerebral palsy in premature babies if given to mothers before labor, help severe asthma attacks in the emergency room (given via IV and by nebulizer). It also can help prevent premature births by discouraging uterine contractions - so it makes sense to me that it could help with the pain and cramping associated with menstruation. I have already been using the blackstrap molasses (one TBSP daily) with great results, but cramps are not completely gone."

Excess Clear Discharge

04/21/2013: Marie from Lancs, England: "Excess Clear Discharge: Hi, I am hoping someone can help with what is an embarrassing condition. It is an excess clear vaginal discharge problem. It is worse just after my period for about ten days, after which, it seems to be less problematic. I am in my twenties and it has been like this since I can remember. Just wondering could diet or something be causing/affect it as sometimes it does seem to be worse than others. I don't take the pill or meds. Periods are regular so I dont' wanna consider any kind of medication and am wondering if this could be addressed naturally. The doctor has done infection tests/hormone test and has said that all is o.k"

A hair analysis might give a clue. I have never had one."

04/25/2013: Addy from Flowery Branch, Ga replies: "From what you say, I'm thinking it's ovulation. Google signs of ovulation.. You may have your answer there. I had the same thing and was always concerned but doc said I was ok. Years later I read this, kept a journal and thats what it was. Best wishes!"
04/26/2013: Marie from Uk replies: "Thanks Addy, Joy, for your feedback. With regard to it being ovulation, Addy, the frustrating thing is that the girl that I share a room with at college doesn't evn wear underwear, unless and until she is on a period, so it's frustrating having to wear pads for the best part of the month, although I know she is on the pill. I read an article that says that it obviously varies according to individual women but a tablespoon a day is considered normal and its definately more that than. I was just wondering if it is something that could be dealt with naturally. I don't have a naturpath locally. I have usually just tolerated it, but a few months ago, I remembered thinking that I hadn't seen it for a while and I was just wondering if diet/lifestyle changes had anything to do with it, however, I can't remember at the time any changes that I had made. Thanks though for your concern and feedback."
04/26/2013: Gena from New York, Ny replies: "Hi, have you tried taking folic acid supplements? These might help your issue. Just a thought."
04/26/2013: Joy from Battleground, Wash replies: "Stab in the dark - recently my prolapsed bladder was painful and I was getting desperate and tried to put some milk of magnesia inside the vagina and outside it with my finger coated with it...

The whole day until I washed it off the whole are was overly dry and felt uncomfortably dry dry dry..... With the bladdder rubbing down there it was uncomfortable. No rash or redness or any after shocks."

04/26/2013: Marie from Uk replies: "Hi Gena, thanks for your reply. I would be curious as to why you mentioned folic acid, as I did actually test deficient for this a couple of months ago, but I never thought they might be related. Thanks"
04/26/2013: Gena from New York, NY replies: "Hi, folic acid is known to increase the lining of the uterine wall so that's what came to mind when I read your post. Let us know if it helps. There might be female herbs you can try that will help too. I will see if I can find any herbs on the net that will help this."
04/27/2013: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "If I'm not mistaken, Folic Acid helps w/ RNA multiplication, which translates into "healing". The amino acid Glycine appears to work very similar to the Folate. Glycine also helps with detoxification, is a natural nervine, and an excellent natural sweetener (add to any beverage or food)."
10/12/2013: Vel from Anchorage, AK replies: "Could be dairy. For me dairy causes excess mucous in my throat, feces, and vaginal discharge."
