[YEA] Ricardo from Palm Coast writes: "I started to suffer from allergies about 7 years ago. I took over the counter medication to help me with the allergies. Chlorotabs was the only medication to help throughout allergy season. Last year in November I did a colon cleansing using physillum husk for 3 months. I did not know or was it mention in the books I read that the colon cleansing would get rid of my allergies. This was the first year that I did not use any allergy pills because I no longer suffer from allergies."

[YEA] 01/14/2012: Unapiccolina from Irvine, Ca writes: "I have had horrible allergies for 20 years and have taken just about everything. At the health food store I came across Quercetin & Bromelain. The Quercetin helps with histamine production. The Bromelain (comes from pineapple) helps with sinus swelling. If you are allergic to pineapple you shouldn't take this. Also Vitamin C helps the immune system.
I just wish someone had shared this with me 20 years ago. It took about a week to work for me, but I now wake up every morning without headaches, grogginess, stuffy nose, or puffy eyes. This is what I have been taking and it has been life changing!
Quercetin - 500 mg or more
Bromelain - 250 mg or more
Vitamin C - 1,000 mg
In researching Quercetin, I also found that it's naturally occuring in foods like black/green tea, red onion, apples, red grapes, tomato, cranberries, spinach, broccoli, carrots, strawberries, blueberries and pears. I have also been eating more of these items as well.
Hope this helps,
UnaPiccolina"

500 mg of quercetin
1400mg of vitC once daily"

[YEA] 05/23/2007: Kate from Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, UK writes: "Quercetin complex with bromelaine stopped an allergy attack dead in its tracks. After spending four hours sitting in a friend's garden, I succumbed to a really bad allergy attack - blocked sinuses, teary and mucousy eyes, and hot, prickly blood shot eyes, along with a thumping sinus headache. I took two quercetin complex tablets (also containing bromelaine) and within 15 minutes, my sinuses had cleared, the post nasal drip had stopped, and I could generally breathe! It took a while for the eyes to dry up - perhaps a few hours but ultimately it has stopped. I am continuing to take 2 capsules in the morning with breakfast for the next few days to keep things under control, but am confident that I can now control the summer hay fever."
Replies04/06/2009: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "Thanks Kate...I would like to add to that Stinging Nettle. The three seem to be the most effective. The Stinging Nettle should be "freeze dried" in capsule form. These have worked well for me...It would be good to start now, a few weeks before blossom. I also take the Emergen C light with MSM (sorry for the brand name) as this reduces symptoms within 10 minutes."
EC: Read more about Emergen C ingredients and side effects here: http://www.earthclinic.com/Supplements/vitamin_c.html#SIDEEFFECTS
04/07/2009: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "thanks EC..I didn't know that about Emergen C. I take it occasionally & never had a side effect. Though I only take the "light" version which would mean less sweetener."
EC: The lite also contains aspartic acid, an excitotoxin. See "other ingredients" on this page: http://www.herbalremedies.com/emergen-c-lite-msm-supplement.html
[YEA] 06/30/2009: musicchick581 from By the Shore, NJ replies: "My (non food related) allergies came on a couple years ago as a result of stress and poor eating, etc. They last all year long and would make me very tired, fatigued and congested/dizzy. I changed my diet and reduced dairy and wheat/gluten. There was a huge change in my digestion but not in my allergies.I went to a new doctor (MD/DO) and asked for a natural method of combatting them. He told me to take Quercitin and Bromelain tablets once or twice a day on an empty stomach. I have been taking 2 of them, one in the morning and one at night and they have helped me TREMENDOUSLY with allergies. I can now walk around the block without feeling so sleepy when I come back. I blow my nose less often and haven't had a sinus infection this year. (Last year I had 2 or 3 for the first time in my life).
I've been on them for almost 4 months. They do take a little while to build up in your system I've read. Highly recommended!"

I will eat about four in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. I usually suffer from runny and itching nose, sneezing, watery eyes. It all disappeared, but you do have to eat them daily. Oh by the way I buy the frozen kind."

RAW MILK

[YEA] 02/04/2010: Tracey from Indianapolis, In writes: "Raw Milk has pretty much cured my severe allergies. When I was a child, my parents were told I had cystic fibrosis because of the severity of my symptoms. When I was 8 they finally got the true diagnosis of out-of-control allergies. I was put on several medicines and my parents were told to make some pretty drastic lifestyle changes to get them under control.
Then when I was 10 or 11, a couple of things happened: I hit puberty, and we started getting raw milk from a farmer. My parents were still worried about my famine victim appearance, and admire the robust-looking kids of a professor friend who lived on a small farm. The friend told my dad that he had several cows, and all seven of his kids were drinking the milk. He was aware of the track record of raw milk in treating illnesses, and told my dad that a couple of my distant cousins in town were also drinking it. He didn't tell my dad about how it had been used in the past, though.
A couple of years later, everyone was marveling how I'd outgrown my allergies; even my allergist was amazed at my turnaround. I was gradually weaned off most of my medicines.
Then I went away to college, and my allergies returned within about 5 months, just a tad. Just enough to need a rescue inhaler and be on antihistamines that year. But they gradually worsened, until within 10 years I was on all kinds of experimental drugs, and within 12 years I was as bad as I'd ever been. I almost died when my son was 11 months old from a food reaction, only the second I'd ever had. Mine were all molds and pollens and danders.
About 2 years after that, we moved and I made new friends. One of them told me about someone who was going to have raw milk, and I was excited because it just represented health to me. I couldn't have the extensive garden and orchard my parents had had to plant when I was a child, but I could at least give my kids raw milk.
And within 6 months, I was wondering why there was no ragweed season. Within 12 months I'd let most of my allergy medicines run out without refilling them. And within 14 months, I'd been challenged by spending the night in a room with 5 of my top allergies, only to awaken with clear sinuses and lungs, still alive, even though I had no medicines with me.
I then found out that there had been a particularly severe ragweed season that year, and I hadn't even realized it. I realized the only thing that had changed for me during that time was adding raw milk to my diet. So I did some research and found out about the natural steroids in the cream that are destroyed by heat, and how substances in the milk heal small leaks in the intestines that may contribute to allergies.
At the same time, I noticed my 12-month-old daughter's eczema had vanished. I'd thought it wasn't active during the summer; then realized it hadn't reappeared during the winter. She now has lovely skin at age 10. And no cavities ever, because she's had pasteurized milk only a handful of times in her life.
That's the biggest thing I've noticed from drinking it, and it's such a huge thing in my life. The two times that I've had trouble getting raw milk for several months since then, at the end of that time period I would sometimes react to my strongest allergens again, just a little; and my daughter would sometimes have slight flair-ups of eczema. We do our utmost to make sure we can have raw milk!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 12/09/2009: Paul from Lansing, Mi writes: "I'm a 51 year old male who has been suffering from allergies for about 6 years. Nights have been tough. Waking about every 2 hours to blow my nose and take an allergy pill. A few weeks ago I decided to drink a glass of red wine before I went to bed. [a couple drinks of red wine is good for you]. I slept all night and woke up with a clear nose. Did it every night, same wonderful sleep. Ran out of wine, miserable night, woke up every 2 hours stuffed up. Got more wine, beautiful.
P.S. Red wine works very well for me for clearing my sinuses and works much longer than allergy pills I have used, but has not cured me of my allergies. I am hopeing that apple cider vinager will. "
EC: Beware, red wine contains sulfites which can cause insomnia, sinus pressure and headaches!

01/14/2012: David from Menifee, California writes: "Hello, When my son has any contact with dogs in a few hours his lip or lips swells.
Does anyone know how to stop this swelling or why this is happening? This had not happened before with dogs. This once happened a few years ago when a plant bloomed near his window of his bedroom.
I would hate to have to give our dogs away or make their yard way in the back of our property as we really love these dogs.
Any advice would be appreciated!"
Replies01/15/2012: Charlotte from Asheville, Nc replies: "Hi David, Is it possible that your dogs might be getting pesticide residue on their fur that might be causing your son's lips to swell? I had a similar issue after we had our yard sprayed (just once) for mosquitoes last summer. The effects of the spray lasted a good month and whenever I had contact with our dogs, my lips would become numb and swell slightly. I finally figured out it was the pesticide from the spray that was all over the yard causing the issue! Even thunder showers didn't completely wash away the pesticide. You might try giving your dogs a bath with holistic shampoo and see if that helps. I hope so! Let us know how it goes. Good luck to you, Charlotte"
01/16/2012: David from Riverside, Ca. replies: "Thanks Charlotte!I'll try this and see what happens. My wife seems to think our son has hives but I did spray the yard with pesticides!"
01/16/2012: Timh from Louisville, Usa replies: "David, consider Flax Oil daily to reduce the inflammatory response. Also there are a good many Homeopathic formulas specifically for allergies & inflamation. For immediate relief even consider a children's Tylinol. My amateur 2 cents, and good luck."
01/17/2012: David from Riverside, Ca. replies: "Hi Tim, Do you rub the flax oil on the lips or drink it? Thanks"
01/17/2012: Sophie from Dayton, Ohio, Usa replies: "It seems to me that your son may have multiple allergies. An allergic response can be different in different people -- some experience sinus symptoms while others have swelling or hives. Allergies can also begin at any time. You can exhibit no allergic response to something for years, then suddenly develop symptoms. The fact that the lip swelling occurred both when exposed to a certain plant pollen and also to the dog may indicate allergies to both.An allergist or perhaps pediatrician can do a simple "prick test" to find out what your son is allergic to. If your son has lip swelling as an allergic response, it may gradually become worse or he may develop other unpleasant or severe reactions. Please have him tested for allergies to at least rule out the possibility. I have multiple outdoor and animal allergies, and have been successfully treated with allergy injections since childhood. The purpose of the allergy shots is to gradually expose the body to the allergen so that the body's natural response and immunity will develop."
01/18/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "David, the Flax Oil would proly only be effective by drinking. If he is under 100 lb I would begin w/ two spoons daily for about a week and then cut down to one spoon. Be sure to keep the F Oil refrigerated. If his condition doesn't improve in a few weeks, add the patented supplement Celadrin® as it is a very potent anti-inflammatory substance. Recently I suffered an acute phase of arthritis in my hands and fingers that was somewhat crippling with my daily regimen of Flax Oil and Fish Oil not doing any justice to the situation. Almost immediately after supplementing Celadrin® my symptoms resolved and have remained so. I think they sell a children's and an adult's strength.Hope this helps and good luck; report progress."
01/18/2012: David from Riverside, Ca. replies: "Thank you Timh for the advice! We will try it.As well as everyone else that responded to my post!
My son is 20 and still lives with us and has no health insurance. We have been told that in Mexicali there is a medical clinic that does the "needle prick" test as that is all we can afford at this time.
I was told this Dr. is good at what he does and is inexpensive. Here in the United States medical services are EXTREMELY STEEP IN PRICE!
Appreciated everyone's help!
So far, as long as my son stays away from the dogs he is fine. But I know the dogs miss him.
We have ordered the Kefir grains on Ebay to see if Kefir milk helps him as well. I will report back to share what happens either way.
The posters on Earth Clinic are awesome!!!!"

10/19/2011: Raj from Fremont, Ca, Usa writes: "Hi
My daughter never fell sick first 6 years and then suddenly she started getting cough with no mucus and it used to long for months. Tired of allegra and nasal sprays. Tried skin sensitivity for allergies, they came up with all the main trees in CA.
She also developed an Ezcema on the both the hands on the other side of elbow since 2 yrs. I tried cortizone and all other medications. Three days ago, started a coconut oil just to rinse it. She has no control, she just rubs it as soon as it starts itching.
I wanted to use ACV. What are your suggestions?"
Replies10/20/2011: Liz from Boston, Massachusetts replies: "Yogurt, yogurt, yogurt. :)Have her eat yogurt twice a day. You will notice improvement in her eczema within a week. She will have to continue eating it to keep it at bay."
10/21/2011: Sofia from Claymont, De replies: "I had terrible psoriasis/eczema on my elbows and the side of my ankles for years. I had tried all the standard creams... The only thing that worked was the Budwig Protocol (I eat it once a day). It took a little getting used to but, it all went away. Good Luck!"
10/22/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Raj, You could try 1 teaspoon ACV in a glass of water and have one yourself at the same time with her. It can be much easier if you do it together and it is a drink that you are both having as apposed to it being seen as a medicine. If a piece of ice in a drink is seen as a treat then let her add one the first few times she has the drink. I would not add any extra for the first 2-3 weeks.I also think bleached flour needs to be avoided. If it is possible I believe switching to organic grains is best as the chemicals used in storage are not good plus have seen great results from this. My girlfriend had great success with this and flax seed oil. One way to take flax oil is to make a banana smoothie - just plain yoghurt & 1 tbs flax oil blended together first, then add banana (or berries) and a spoon of raw honey. You could also add the teaspoon of ACV to this.
From personal experience chemicals in the home (cleaning products, sprays, perfumers) can actually cause eczema and add to the allergies. It may also be worth testing the ph of her urine and if it is acidic then give her an alkalizing drink. If she does not like the taste then let her drink it while it is still fizzing. Tulsi is also good for air-borne allergies taken as a tea. It is quite nice served cold in a glass and add a spoon of local raw honey, when its local & raw it can help with pollen allergies. Sorry about the long post when you only asked about ACV. All the best."
10/23/2011: Gail from Branson, Mo replies: "I agree with the other post, I would keep up with the coconut oil and also give it to her internally."

10/04/2011: Gretchen from Fargo, Nd, Usa writes: "I am in a quandry. For 1 month I have suffered from a tight chest and intermittent cough--it was better following a good rain, but then returned. We have had a beautiful Indian Summer, but late harvest and hot, windy weather seems to be my downfall this year.
The chest tightness is felt under my collarbone, throughout my windpipe and in my upper back. My cough is deep and "tracheal" sounding--and not very productive. When something is coughed up, it is gray, opaque.
2 weeks ago, I was tested for asthma at an Allergy and Asthma clinic (gold standard tests), and it was clear to the dr that I did NOT have asthma--relieved, yes!! But now my symptoms have returned, after taking about a week-long hiatus.
I have seen a bit of an upswing in my upper resp allergies (runny nose, red eyes, post nasal drainage). I have been taking guaifenesin in case it is chest congestion, and the allergist prescribed me Nasonex and a prednisone burst to try get rid of the inflammation. The most relief I feel is after I take a nebulized ipratroprium bromide to reduce the inflammation. Also makes me super shaky...
I feel like I'm the only one dealing with something this wacky, and it's been disconcerting.
Has anyone dealt with this, and was there ever any conclusive diagnosis or treatment that was helpful for you?
Thanks & best."
Replies10/04/2011: Sophia from Wheaton, Il replies: "I had very bad asthma and nothing was helping. I was on too many RX. One day I found an accupunturist who treated asthma. He had me stop eating wheat, dairy and sugar. It has been eight weeks now. I am off five medications, I don't have mucous anymore and I don't cough all the time and (bonus) I have lost a lot of weight. I feel wonderful! My symptoms were a little different than yours, since I was only coughing a little and could never get a deep breathe for over a year. This sounds crazy, but my lungs hurt in the back. Now I am so much better. He gave me some herbs with quercetin, stinging nettles and bromelain. I hope this helps and you get some relief. It so scary to be unable to get a deep breathe!"

09/16/2011: Ravyn_wolf from Calgary, Alberta Canada writes: "Having just found out I am allergic to cats, dogs, mold and dust, I am on antihistamines and eye drops, which are not working, and the allergist wants to start me on serum, which I don't really want to do and can't afford. My symptoms aren't typical of allergies, I have no nasal issues, and no congestion, only a more topical reaction around my eyes, swollen skin, dry, flaky, red, irritated and very itchy, I will add this is only on the skin, my eyeballs themselves have no issues, so I am thinking of starting to take ACV orally but am wondering if you have any suggestions for a topical ointment? I have tried various creams (unfraganced) and steroid with nothing working, any help anyone can offer would be great.
Unfortunately, my exposure to dogs and cats cannot be limited as I live with both and work in a vet clinic, and I'm looking into molds and dust in my home. Thanks!"
Replies09/16/2011: Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand replies: "It might be worth trying MSM.. Its suposed to be such a super antioxident it removes the free radicals that cause the allergies before they take hold. There's plenty in fresh onions if you like raw onions. Otherwise it can be a bit pricey."
09/18/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace - France replies: "Maybe you should consider reading a book called The dry eye Remedy (I will review it on this site soon). I say this because the doctor who wrote the book, Robert Latkany, refers to the fact that many times eye drops cause allergies of the type you talk about. I thought that I had terrible allergies for many years but in the end I only suffered from dry eyes. Now my dry eyes issue is being addressed my eyes don't itch anymore! Sad no one saw it a number of years ago...... The book gives a lot of information about dry eyes, about the side effects of medication and a lot more!"
10/05/2011: Sierrahennessy from Fairfax, Usa replies: "My husband had this issue. He is allergic to nothing, yet he sneezes his head off. I, on the other hand, am allergic to a lot of environmental allergens. Just out of curiosity, is your clinic in Fairfax, VA? Mine has the same name. Anyway, I had the same problem, couldn't breathe. I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma, which was unreleated to allergies. It was triggered by pollutants, and solid particulates such as pollen, dust, ragweed, soil particles et al. It is often relieved immediately after a rain, only to come roaring back as the particulates that were knocked out of the air return to being airborne. If you don't use a neti pot, start immediately. Use it as often as you like, I recommend a minimum of twice a day, morning and night. Increase your immune system by taking 1000 mg of C (no more, your body simply excretes the excess) and also zinc. Improve your digestive health and add to your immune system health. Take digestive enzymes and probiotics in capsule form, or eat yogurt until it comes out your nose. :) Take anti-oxyidents or eat the colored veggies. Eat a min. of five fruits and veggies a day. Select the herbal/supplement of your choice to improve breathing. Exercise in the morning, and not in cold weather. Use steam therapy nightly (2-3 cups distilled water NOT tap water), consider using gentle aromatherapy oils such as lavender for good days and eucaluptus for bad days. Use (1-3) drops either or both, add carefully if needed.
The thing of it is, it is impossible for all potential allergies to be tested, so I suspect you're not allergy free, just free of the common ones. That leaves you, potentially, with the uncommon ones, congrats. *wry smile* For more info. , try the website www.care2.com which is written by Annie Bond among others, who is one of those people with uncommon allergies. The website gets my highest rating. Annie's receipes for cleaning without chemicals should be followed no matter who you are!
Did your allergist have you blow into a tube to determine your peak air flow? It is imperative that this test be done, regardless of your allergic symptoms or results. Signs your peak flow is low include low grade constant headache, low grade never ending fatigue, sleeping more than 8-9 hours per day, coughing without production, dizziness after climbing stairs, feeling like someone is strangling you by putting a clenched hand around your trachea or throat.
I hope my own experiences help."

08/21/2011: Ruth from Haddonfield, Nj writes: "Massive Food Allergies and autoimmune
Greetings all! First I would like to thank this whole site and all who contribute here as this is one of the best sources of information that I have found. I have learned greatly and am grateful that I have such a resource to come visit.
I have had autoimmune disease since childhood. I had asthma (cleared this at age 32), alopecia, (hair never grew back) and now have some angry adrenal glands and hypothryoidism (hashi's, but I believe it blew out my thyroid finally and now its always low, or so I think, I need to get some labs checked.)
I am currently only taking Naturethyroid, and cortef (about 30mg per day) which is what my body would make on its own if it could.
Years ago, I changed my diet to predominant whole foods, went vegetarian except for fish. I felt better, but still something was wrong. I recently only discovered that it was food allergies. Milk, gluten, LOTS of veggies, and eggs all wipe me out.
When eliminating all of those, I feel well, but my huge concern now is that I am losing too much weight. I actually (and sadly in my opionion, as I have read the China Study and deeply resonate with the information, as do I gain much insight from Paul Pitchford's Healing with Whole Foods) have gone on to eat few meats, for the protein content, as I can NO longer tolerate the Harmonized Protein Powder I was taking (made from Happy Cows in New Zealand I believe).
Dairy truly does me in right now. I get hives all over my face and eyelids, can't concentrate, and have no energy. I break out in the itchy plaque like things on my forehead if I eat a simple spice that I am allergic to. Obviously, avoid what I know, and I am, but my goodness it has become nearly all things I eat. I live with this itchy forehead the majority of the time. But worse for me, as I work from home and its on a computer all day, is when I am in a reaction, I then also have a cerebral reaction, where it becomes hard to focus, type correctly ect.
I really would like to NOT eat meat. I have started working with a aryuveda practitioner and started taking VERY good probiotics. I have spent more money than I care to mention on doing things like NAET, (which I do believe in but have not found right practitioner yet, and will probably treat myself as it is EXPENSIVE over the long run for those who have many allergies), supplements, and energy treatments. I do self acupressure, as I have studied it, and energy medicine on myself. I am also currently looking into detoxing for heavy metals.
I feel like right now my body doesnt want to absorb the nutrients. Its so weird to me, because years ago, when I ate all kinds of crap, it seemed to absorb well then. Or maybe my body is just going thru the healing process and this all has to come out and be experienced. I don't know. What I do know is that I need to maintain a decent weight, be able to focus clearly and have good energy. I am very concerned. I dont feel that I tolerate most fat, like flaxseed or olive right now, but do use coconut oil. I even have a great juicer, but sadly I am allergic to carrots and most veggies and react to it right now.
Any insight would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Maybe I need to give the probiotics more time to work. But honestly, I am feeling like I react to everything right now.
I did try a liver flush a few months ago without much result. My aryuvedic doc wants me to avoid it right now as she feels my liver is too hot.
Thanks again!"
Replies08/21/2011: Jay from Toronto, Ont, Canada replies: "To Ruth from Haddonfield, Nj who writes: "Massive Food Allergies and autoimmune".I'm truly sorry for your current health problems, and with no experience with anything similar, I can only offer my thoughts on the matter.
Personally I would go on a cleanse/flush like the Master cleanse and follow it with a mono diet of some nutritious food that you have no negative reactions to. At this point, (your aryuvedic doc should hopefully be able to assess whether you would then be ready) some liver detox flushes would be in order. If not, continue a rotation mono diet with some support for liver and other organs until ready for a rigorous detox program.
I suspect major detoxification is required with hopefully a simultaneous rebuilding of liver and other organs.
You mentioned heavy metals -- both chlorella and cilantro are good at pulling out heavy metals."
08/23/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Ruth, The foods that you have reactions to are they organic? You could be reacting to the chemicals in them especially if your liver is already overloaded. I have been through similar (and still to some degree). I have been on an ayurvedic product called Liv-52, actually the double strength one. It took about 6 months to see some results. 12 months in I can now eat most things that I used to react to and my liver is much better. I previously had done liver cleanses but they were to much for me as I was to sick to handle them, thus they did set me back in my journey.Magnesium & Vit C, mixed together in powder form, taken after you react can help too. Just put some on your finger and place under your tougue. Taking them regularly may help as well.
Iodine is what is needed for the thyroid. Here is a link, it is a few pages but wow is it worth the read.
http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/pdfs/IOD14.pdf
All the best in your journey, a step may not seem much but you can only take one at a time."
08/24/2011: Ruth from Haddonfield, Nj replies: "Thank you so much for your reply. Yes I predominantly eat organic food. I use mostly (at least 95%) organic/natural cleaners and topical lotion toothpaste ect. This is one reason that it's so frustrating. I have NEVER eaten better than the last 8 years and THIS. I just bought organic turkish dried apricots, and I had a HUGE reaction of hives all over forehead and eyelids. no where else. It also affects my atitude, as I become very cranky, and cant concentrate very well when in reaction. So far, with eating the organic meats, I am maintaining weight. but no gain.
I am so grateful for the insight provided here though. I will look into the Liv 52. Thanks!"

I hate the full feeling of my ears being full of fluid! Nothing really drains me. I've tried stinging nettle. It's ok, but it's not strong enough. Any suggestions?"
Replies08/04/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Have you tried Vitamin C? It hasn't worked for me so far but it seems to work for a lot of people! Or Evening Primrose Oil? After getting some strong medication years ago I didn't have a cold for 7 years although my eyes still itched as well as my throat. Unfortunately last year I started to get colds again but, guess what... My eyes and my throat are better. I am now trying Grapefruit seed Extract and that seems to help a bit. I doesn't stop me sneezing or my nose running but it makes things better once I take it. Next I am going to try Olive Leaf Extract."

08/04/2011: Sunny from Havasu, Az, Usa writes: "I have recently been having an allergic reaction where my tongue and glands under my tongue and jawline swells. The first few times it happened was after I had drank some red wine with dinner- and I thought that possibly I had developed an allergy to wine. But then it happen one night when I had not had any wine- so I am not sure what is causing it. I have tried keeping a food/drink diary, but so far I have not seen any pattern.
I just found your site and read about the ACV and water for allergic reactions - I have been taking the ACV and water drink for a few years for gerd as needed but am thinking I will try it if I have another problem. I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have- by the way - I love this site! Thank You!"
Replies08/05/2011: Lily from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia replies: "Hi Sunny, you could be allergic to one of these: Wheat, Egg, Soy, Milk, Nuts, Peanut or Sesame. They are all known to cause allergic reactions. I am allergic to soy and it makes me itchy everywhere but I am pretty sure that when you get a swollen tongue that it is much more serious and you need to find out what it is that's causing it. Also check your medications and supplements. Hope this heps. Lily."

I cough all the time but when I come in contact with perfumes/scents/smoke as well as popcorn in theatres I cough even more. I have tried many things even a sinus operation to no avail. Because of this problem I have become a recluse and would like any suggestions please. Thx."
Replies01/06/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Judy, The symptoms you have mentioned are ones that some people who have ended up being diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity but had them for some time (even years) before being diagnosed. Although most have the diagnoses of Fibromyalgia or CFS first. These symptoms usually come on some years before and just get more debilitating if nothing is done. Some even have post nasal drip making their coughing worse. I have seen some good results if this is detected early and something done about it. Two of my friends showed most of these symptoms and the following are some of the things they did.
1/. Stop eating all white foods (processed). This includes all fizzy drinks.
2/ . Stop burning the candle at both ends and get plenty of rest.
3/. Magnesium, Vitamin C
4/. Remove every chemical from your home.
5/. Take something to help your liver. Eg: Milk Thistle
6/. Drink fresh vegetable juice each day.
7/. Accepting help
... This may not be your problem but it might be worth doing some research. Check these also on EC. All the best in finding your answers."
[SIDE EFFECTS] 04/25/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "I need help, please! I think I may be having a reaction to ACV or Iodine detox symptoms or both.I had decided to take ACV after reading DC Jarvis' book, as well as very low doses of Iodine/ide and then 1 to 2 drops of Lugol's 5%.
Today, I have pimply rash on my sternum, face and throat and my face is swelling around my eyes and lips, painful. I thought maybe it was the Lugol's but would it cause such a reaction after only 3 days of taking 12.5 mgs of Lugol's (2 drops)? I'm not sure if I'm getting better since the symptoms had changed from the rash and itching to rash-only in certain spots and a face swelling. I'm breathing fine, but the dry, itchy face is bothering me, not to mention the pimples. My eyes have begun to water too.
Could it be the ACV, since I stopped using the Iodine/ide, but have continued using the ACV to try and relieve my symptoms only to make them continue or develop? Is there a remedy or relief to a reaction to ACV?
I had used it once before; last year for a sinus infection. It did wonders and cut my infection time in half. I've been telling my husband that I'm going through major detox and that's what I'm experiencing right now, but I want some relief and would love to have it homeopathically if I still can."
04/26/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "Update: I went to urgent care last night because I was so tired of being so puffy, cracked, itchy, swollen and pimply and wanted to see if the MD could give me any insight on my symptoms.MD Dx'ed me as having 'contact dermatitis', so I still don't have a definitive answer as to what or why I have these symptoms. I'm on Benadryl and Prednisone now, but will stop earlier than recommended. So I will wait it out a bit before I start ACV again, while I'm waiting I've got to go through my house and memory to figure out what triggered 'contact dermatitis'. MD suspected poison oak or ivy. The MD nixed the idea that I could be allergic to ACV. The nurse there didn't think it was iodine triggering a reaction either."
04/26/2011: Alicia from Orlando, Fl, Usa replies: "If you are doing iodine supplementation, I suspect your symptoms might be from Bromine Detoxing. I think you need to be taking co-factors and lecithin granules to help release the toxins from your body. It sounds like they may be trapped and causing your symptoms. Maybe another reader can expand on this info. Hope this helps!"
04/30/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "I'm almost 100% better since my first post. I did more investigating after visiting Urgent Care and the doc asking me to list new or unusual things I've come into contact with at the onset of my reaction.I think I've figured it out: Pittosporum tobira, a common enough shrub in CA and the one huge shrub I trimmed back before I had started showing signs of a reaction. It's not a common allergen, but its pollen, fragrance and oil/sap can trigger a reaction.
I'm still taking the Benadryl and Prednisone the MD prescribed, but I am also using ACV to speed up healing on my face. It's working too. After some diluted ACV on a cotton ball, I massage a little Jojoba oil on my face particularly around my mouth and any tight, extremely dry areas."
04/30/2011: Debbe from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Sheila, the prednisone has some bad side affects if used too long. You can research the dangers of it."
05/01/2011: Carly from Seattle , Wa - Usa replies: "I agree with Debbe - if You have been taking prednisone for any length of time and decide to stop taking it be very careful. You have to taper off of it slowely or it can shut down your adrenals and kill you. My husband was on it for 8 weeks and decided to stop taking it - not knowing it was such a huge deal.. He is fine now, but it was very ugly.Read up before doing anything... It is a horrid drug in my opinion - makes a person feel great for a while, and then just sucks the life out of them. Natural cures are so much safer...."
05/01/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "I appreciate the cautionary notes. I did do some reading on Prednisone, and also had a friend warn me about it. My Rx is only for a week, but I decided to stop taking it after 3 days... tapering off--my adrenals can't take the kind of strain Prednisone would put on them.I'm still a little itchy and puffy from the dermatitis, but not like before. I'm using the ACV and Peroxide dilutions and taking a bunch of supplements. I want to try far infrared sauna soon, but not until the dermatitis reduces a bit more. Thanks!"
05/01/2011: Carly from Seattle, Wa - Usa replies: "Glad you are doing better Shiela! Please post on the infrared sauna if / when / after you try it... I am interested in what you think of it.
:-)"

05/04/2010: Maria from Milan, Italy writes: "I am very allergic to my dog (confirmed by blood tests)and have constant itching that is only relieved by antihistamines (on a good day) and massive doses of prednisone (steroids) during the bad periods (at least twice a year, especially now in pollen season). Doctors tell me to get rid of the dog as my only option - I didn't realize the dog was the problem for the first 18 months, as I have had skin allergies in the past. I drink ACV every day. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance."
Replies05/04/2010: Mama from London, Ontario, Canada replies: "Find a NATE doctor in your area. Just google it if you haven't heard of it before. This frequency technique has done wonders for people who are allergic to their pets. My daughter has been relieved of all her allergies with this method, and it can be done long distance so you don't have to go to the doctor in person - though you can if you wish. You'll just need to have the dog stay with some friends while you do the 24hour treatment. It's very easy and really works.

11/05/2010: Cat from Austin, Tx replies: "My daughter had animal allergy problems as well. This is how she said she eliminated her problem. Twice a week, she takes her cat outside and thoroughly brushes him down. Weekly, she rubs 1/4c ACV, 1/2c water mixture into his coat, much to his disgust. She daily puts a few drops of ACV in his water bowl. (she takes a tsp in water herself before bed). As long as she does this, she says, she has no symptoms. Since she began this regime, her cat has less fleas, less dander and scratching. I can attest to the fact that his coat is now simply gorgeous, glowing, soft, and beautiful. Occasionally she places a dollop of Virgin coconut oil on his coat so that he can lick it off; since she started with this, he has not needed de-worming pills this year. I joke with her that her cat's coat is beautiful enough for a winter hat :)"

[QUESTION] 06/01/2009: Stephanie from East Grand Forks, MN writes: "I was wondering if anyone had any "cures" for shellfish allergies?? My husband grew up on seafood and now has become allergic. We both miss eating seafood very much. Any help would be greatly appreciated."
Replies08/19/2010: Veroanique from Melbourne, Fl replies: "Turmeric and cayenne pepper taken at least once a day will help with that. I know of two people who are now able to eat their favorite foods again after one month of adding 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder to at least one of their meals. They are also available in capsules if you can't stand the taste or the heat. Turmeric is what seems to work, but it works a whole lot better when taken with the pepper. This method was used to eliminate seafood & poultry allergies, allergic rhinitis, and the symptoms of shingles. The allergies and symptoms came back after stopping the treatment for a few days, but taking them again gave almost immediate relief. There are side effects to too much or prolonged turmeric use for people with certain conditions, so read up before taking it. Just do a web search with the keywords turmeric and side effect. Otherwise it should be one of the safest and most effective ways to get rid of allergies. After all, remember that this is a spice used in some Asian countries everyday in their food."

SEA SALT
09/22/2009: Meral from Marlton, Nj writes: "I have a son who is 5 year old now. He has been suffering nasal allergy. He has itchy and runny nose and he is mostly congested. Some times his eye lids swolen and there are dark circles under his eyes. Last year we found out he has some type of allergy at spring and fall seasons and she prescribed medicines. I don't want him use medicine all the time. What can I use? I heard sea salt is good. Where can I find it? Thank you for your time and help."
Replies12/27/2009: Julie from Santa Monica, Ca replies: "Hi Meral ~ you can buy sea salt at any health food store. I use it in a nasal rinse, which helps my allergy quite a bit. Not sure if a 5-yr-old would tolerate it...you could go to any Walgreen's/CVS/etc and their pharmacist can give free advice. Good luck!"

TED'S REMEDIES READER FEEDBACK
Ratings:

[YEA] 11/21/2011: Carolyn from Milford, Ct writes: "Ted's Remedy for seasonal/food allergies and asthma absolutely worked for my ten year-old son!
At five years old, he began to get seasonal allergies in the spring. Next came a few food allergies. Each year, the hayfever became progressively worse until, two years ago, it turned into full blown asthma. Worse still, he became alergic to wheat (but NOT the gluten... the wheat itself), all corn and corn by-products, mushrooms, shellfish (not the iodine, but the shellfish itself), all nuts and seeds and their respective oils, and on and on.
In desperation, I tried Ted's remedy for seasonal allergies, as I did NOT want my son to stay on all those steroids each spring. I noticed that Ted kept talking about excess copper and the need for zinc. So, I looked down the long list of my son's food allergies and compared it to a list of taboo foods for people with Wilson's Disease, a disorder that prevents affected people from processing copper at all. Lo and behold... My son's food allergies had one thing in common; they were all foods loaded with copper. So, I began Ted's remedy and, I swear, within three days my son woke up in the morning and didn't wheeze or need a single pill or inhaler ever again. Interesting to note, however, as soon as I thought it was "safe" to take him off the remedy, all his symptoms came back the next day. Thus, I continue to give him the suppliments and he is doing amazingly well. Oh, and his food allergies after 12 months....gone!!!!!
Here is the protocol that I continue to follow:
I mix into a glass of juice EVERY MORNING: 1,000 mg powdered Sodium Ascorbate, 3 drops liquid vitamin D3 (1,000mg), 2 drops liquid molybdenum (50 mcg). He can't taste a bit of it in the juice, so there are no complaints.
With breakfast, he takes 25mg zinc gluconate every day.
TWICE A WEEK he takes 100mcg selenium (L-selenomethionine) with the zinc in the morning. I give it on Saturdays and and Wednesdays, because its easy for me to remember.
After school, when his stomach is empty, I give him 10 mg manganese gluconate with a bottled water, because Ted says this should be taken alone.
Three times a week, at dinner, I give him a "raw" B-complex, as several of the B-vitamins are aparently needed to aid the other supplements. Plus, I mix an additional 1, 000 mg of powdered sodium ascorbate into whatever he is drinking at dinnertime.
My son's pediatrician, who is open to alternative treatments, was so shocked at the allergy blood results, not to mention the vanishing asthma, that he wrote all of this down to try on other young patients!"

I started taking the supplements you recommended for allergies, hayfever etc. The first two days it worked very well then suddenly it became rapidly worse and I am sneezing, my nose is running etc. The only difference with my supplements is the fact that I am taking Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C because I can't find the other Vitamin C you recommended and I have as yet to order sodium thiosulfate, baking soda and citric acid. Can you tell me why it is getting worse when it went very well the first two days when I did not include the Vitamin C asorbic acid or am I doing something wrong. Please help me. Your advice would be most welcome.
Many thanks for your wonderful help.

[YEA] 02/20/2007: RD from Calcutta, India writes: "I heard something really interesting from an Indian parent in the US the other day. She was saying that her child, with two biological Indian parents, had a host of allergies. This is apparently very common for children of Indian parents who are born in the US. It is surmised that these children inherit, through their birth, highly evolved immune systems that are used to battling a lot of germs. But in the US there are comparitively few diseases to combat with the result that these highly evolved immune systems have nothing to do. They then turn on themselves and create all sorts of allergies. Isn't that interesting?"
Replies03/20/2009: Evimush from Phoenix, AZ replies: "Yes, that is fascinating. Populations differences can tell us so much. Finally I read in Forbes that mainstream scientists are studying friendly bacteria. Having the same bacteria even in the same country is only 30%"
