[YEA] 09/18/2007: Sandhi writes: "Hi Bill: I am really glad I talked to you that day and tried HP inhalation. It has brought my Ragweed Allergy so much under control. I just pumped HP 4-5 times in my mouth and it literally stopped the sneezing and post nasal drip. You are my inspiration. Now I think I can say something is WORKING against my allergies, when even the famous Vitamin C did not work. thankyou. God bless you and your family."

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE INHALATION FOR HAY FEVER
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 10/02/2011: Lilydy from Alice Springs, Australia writes: "I did not find much remedies here for hay fever. I was suffering from hay fever badly this year from bush fire, climate changing to spring and a lot of people around me getting viral and bacterial infection. With the hay fever I started sneezing every so often that my lower back pain was triggered by it, my nose, eyes and throat itch and my nose got so sore from constantly blowing my nose from all the sneezes I tried antihistamine but it only made me very sluggish so I only took it once and stopped. I decided to try one of those supermarket's herbal supplement for hay fever and still no relief. The last stroke was I started coughing and I didn't lke the sound of that as my workmate just got worse from flu infections. I was constantly gargling with ACV before drinking it and it soothes my itchy throat and gargling with Hydrogen peroxide also helps get out the phlegm.
Anyway as a last resort and fear of the cough worsening I decided to give the hydrogen peroxide inhalation a try. I have previously tried it but can't seem to work it out properly without wanting to gag. Anyway as soon as I spray it directly into my throat, within minutes I stopped coughing. It was after an hour or so that I realized it also took care of my hay fever symptoms. My nose and eyes stop itching and I stop sneezing which was a huge relief. I immediately felt much better and not sluggish. God is good.. All of nature's problem can be remedied by natural healing provided for free.. Or at least cheaply by our heavenly Father. It is good to do the inhalation every hour or so initially and then I only do it now as needed specially when the air is getting smoky around here from all the bush fire."

LIP BALM

[YEA] 06/08/2010: Theajane from Virginia Beach, Va writes: "It is now June and I normally would be downing over-the-counter meds all day for allergies - but not this year! What did I do differently? I decided to trap the pollen before it entered my nose. How? I have used at least two sticks of lip balm on and in the front of my nostrils. At night I slather my nose and surrounding area with good old time Vicks. My theory being, if pollen is virtually invisible, then it can stick to the balm instead of entering my nose. Seriously, I have had a relatively allergy free season - and so pleasant with good smelling balm on my nose!!"

MANGANESE

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 04/26/2008: Mark P. from Silver Spring, MD, USA writes: "In paper published by the late orthomolecular pioneer Dr. Carl Pfieffer (MD & Ph.D) he found that some patients who weren't responding to his allergy protocol of methionine, calcium, zinc and manganese did better of high dose manganese. One patient in particular, who had a wide range of food allergies was told to try 50mg of manganese gluconate or amino acid chelate twice per day. The man felt a little better so slowly he began increasing the dose until at 300mg per day he experienced a marked reduction in symptoms and over time regained weight that he'd lost because of inability to eat protein. Dr. Pfieffer said it takes many months for manganese therapy to work. I'm trying it because of increasing difficulty in tolerating protein. I'm also on lithium and Klonopin and I suspect that lithium is implicated in my worsening allergies. His paper is on the Web. Mark/Maryland, USA"

METAL REPLACEMENT
01/18/2011: Ken from Columbus, Ohio writes: "I had a total shoulder replacement done in june last year. I got a allergic reaction to something and the Dr. thinks it could be I am allergic to my shoulder replacement. It could be the metal used to make the shoulder or the cement used to put it in. Do you have any answers that will help the allergic reaction?"
Replies07/10/2011: Rosie from Sydney, Australia replies: "There has been a number of class actions against the cobalt leaking from prostheses into people's bodies literally poisoning them. I know one man who has just had his second hip replacement. Please contact the manufacturer, the surgeon etc - it may be much more than an allergy."

MSG
11/04/2010: Tarat from Grenada, Ms writes: "I've had allergic reactions for 11 years of which 10 of them I could not figure out what I was allergic too. Someone suggested MSG & at the time I did not know what MSG was. I assumed it was a type of salt... NOT!! I would like Earth Clinic to add allergic reactions to the ailments in case there are others that are experiencing allergic reactions & can't figure out what they are allergic to. Thanks! I'm so grateful for this site. It has been a God send!
I had another reaction the other day after eating chili at a friends. My reactions differ with each one & consists of one or more of the following: severe stomach cramps, indigestion, diarrhea, vomiting, welts, severe itching & throat swelling. I have always taken benadryl to get over these reactions. After reading info from Ted about MSG on this site I took 500 mg of L-glutamine. I pulled capsule apart & dissolved in water that I drank. Also, I took a bath with ACV which helped tremendously with the itching. I could still feel that my throat was swollen so I took another 500 mg L-glutamine an hour later. The itching stopped but it did take several hours for my throat to totally feel normal again. I did not have to take any benadryl(which knocks me out for 12 hours) & I was able to go to church. It was truly amazing. It's so frustrating since MSG is in, it seems, about 85% of the food sold! BEWARE: natural flavors... Natural flavoring!"

MSM

[YEA] 07/07/2008: Tim from Berkeley, CA writes: "I have had seasonal allergies for the past 6-7 years. Earlier this year I read about how MSM can alleviate the symptoms of seasonal allergies, so I decided to give it a try. The allergy season was just starting and I could feel my eyes getting a bit itchy. I started taking 1000 mg of MSM and within 1 hour I was feeling better. It works as well as any OTC allergy medicine with out the negative health effects. As a matter of fact it is supposed to have beneficial health effects. I now take 1000 mg of MSM twice per day and have not had any more symptoms of allergies. I love this stuff."

MULTIPLE REMEDIES

[YEA] 04/12/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France writes: "I have finally managed to control my allergies. After years of suffering with itchy eyes and throat and some of those years sneezing a lot it finally seems to be over. I never had hay fever because I had it the whole year. It was just like an unwanted friend I couldn't get rid of! Last year because of a disease the plane trees near our house had I got even worse.
This is not a recipe for anybody because all allergies are different but it might just give people a few ideas. Right now I am taking 4g Vit. C a day, 800IU of Vit. E, 150mg of Hyaluronic Acid and Fish oil. I have the idea that although I was quite a bit better with all this the big change came when I added a drink of blueberries, MSM, Condroitin and Glucosamin but I don't know.... Could it just have been because I had been taking the rest for a longer period of time? MSM in powder form didn't seem to change anything. I also try to drink a lot of water, took Beers Yeast for awhile, just to be on the safe side I am taking local pollens every morning as well as using unpasteurized local honey in my tea and taking Propolis. Quite a treatment but the bottom line is that I have been feeling fine and I have more energy. I also manage to sleep better most nights!"

[YEA] 01/06/2011: Dawn from Wildwood, Mo, Usaemarf writes: "I have been on allergy medicine for as long as I can remember. I am 36 years old, and after my 2nd pregnancy, it was like nothing was working! I tried prescription strength allergy medication, which felt like it was working for about a week. Every afternoon; and I mean literally every single afternoon, I would feel sick, headaches, neck and shoulders always stiff, tired, struggling to make it through the rest of my day. By 7pm I would be exhausted. I like to work out and still need to lose some baby weight, but I couldn't even attempt it due to my extreme lack of energy. I could barely get through the day with my 4 year old and 16 month old!!!
Completely frustrated, I googled natural cures and found this website. I oil pull with sesame oil every morning, drink water w/ 2 tsp's of ACV & 1 tsp of BSM twice a day, and take cayenne pepper or chew and swallow a garlic clove as needed. Finding this website was an answer to prayer!!! I have even, steady energy throughout the day, have been off of any kind of allergy med's for 3 weeks now ( unheard of for me!! ) am able to get off my birth control pill, which I took because my periods started being SO debilitating, and can take care of my kids, do hair, which is what I do for work, and work out in a day, and feel APPROPRIATELY tired at the end of it! These things work, I will never again depend on traditional medicine, unless it is absolutely necessary, all it did was make me sicker and sicker!!
I praise God for this website, and I have since shared it with several people who were in similar situations, struggling with something that the Dr's prescriptions just weren't fixing, and they are also having great success!! I also am not having severe flour and sugar cravings, and I can see my body finally starting to change shape, just after 2 weeks of working out! This stuff is sooo simple, cheap and easy to do, and completely worth the benefits! I have never felt so good!"
Replies01/06/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Dawn, are you sure you suffered from allergies? I know that there are many kinds of symptoms but somehow yours don't sound like allergies..... Wasn't it maybe postnatal depression?"
01/08/2011: Dawn from Wildwood, Mo replies: "I did go through a bit of postnatal depression and all of that stuff, but these things were happening before my pregnancies and they just got more severe after each. In retrospect, it probably was never an "allergy" problem because since doing the oil pulling and the Apple Cider Vinegar and bsm, I have been great. I did not treat my body very well in my 20's so I'm sure there were plenty of toxins that needed to come out. I also am really trying to stick to a healthy diet, whole foods, alot more veggies and fruit, which I am doing well with! "
01/09/2011: Kym from Seattle, Washington replies: "Do u use this remedy as a daily regimen, or as needed only. What do u do for the protection of your enamel. I have severe allergies-enviromental, I do not want to start Immunotherapy shots, I need help, any suggestions??? Please Help."
01/10/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Hi Kym, I have had allergies for so many years I don't even remember when they started! Nothing ever seemed to help other than anti-histaminics and even those only for a short while. I am now trying MSM and I seem to be doing ok although the dose in the powder is far too low. I bought the wrong product, I think..."
[YEA] 09/04/2011: Lou from Tyler, Tx replies: "There was a great article in this past week's Women's World magazine about avoiding wheat and anything containing wheat altogether. It claimed that cutting wheat could cure your arthritis, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, acne and can offer relief from IBS and acid reflux. They also mentioned in another article that allergies can be prevented using perilla oil. Rooibos tea, walnuts and 8 oz. Purple grape juice with 1 T. powdered greens can also provide relief from allergies."

[YEA] 09/29/2007: Ratna from Pawtucket, USA writes: "Allergies: If you wake up with a heavy head and bad throat which usually causes body ache, try this,
step 1. take hot water mixed with salt, baking soda, lemon juice gargle, clean, wash your toungue, throat, upper part of inside of your mouth, it will make you want to throw up almost, eyes will be so red, but you feel relieved so much, this is cleansing the mouth.
Step 2. put some oil inside your both nostrils almond oil or may be olive oil (we in Southern India use coconut oil) you have to use your fingers as much deep you can reach to do this, then take hot water in a plastic mug which is pointed on one side (or if you can find NETI POT wich is shaped like Alladin's lamp use it) put the hot water inside of one nostril after another tilting your head and drain it out, you will find all the dirt - mucus come out at once, (some water may come into your mouth or through another nose), this you can do two times a day, this is keeping your drainage clean. you will find great relief in your head, eyes, even in shoulders, if the allergy cold is so severe.
Step 3. Take hot boiling steaming water into a wide mouthed vessel, add Vicks or drops of eucalyptus oil (Nilgiri oil) into it, bend your face into it, cover your head surrounding the vessel with a thick towel, inhale the steam as much heat you can take, your forehead, eyes, ear start to feel so much better, this is steam therapy.
I had been to a doctor, who is not able to diagnose my allergy sinus cold properly, instead when he is asking me questions like 'are you feeling depressed' I felt he needs to be sent to a therapy session on how to treat his patients well and listen carefully what they say."

[YEA] 04/03/2007: Margie from Upper Marlboro, Maryland writes: "I have had allergies for years. I developed allergies at the age of 28 and had suffered with them for a long time. Two years ago I brought a book called alterna-tive cures that I have been using for two years now to solve a few of my ailments. In reading the book for allergies NAC (n-acetylcysteine) was suggested for allergies. And it works, because right now the trees are blossoming and flowers as well and this is generally the worst time of year for me, because I suffer with allergies something awful. I have not had a problem with itchy eyes, sneezing, sore scratchy throat and tickling of the throat. I use the recommended dosage that is suggested in the book, but I can't remember what it is. Again, I have been using NAC two years and it has worked well for me."

NAET

[YEA] 08/13/2008: Angela from Tonasket, WA. writes: "NAET (allergy elimination technique):
My family has been treated of one food intolerance disease, EE, by this treatement called NAET. It is the only known permenant treatment for allergies or intolerances. . .which is just a really severe allergy. My chiropractor does the treatment, and some acupuncturists and acupressurists also do it. I am not yet aware of any celiacs that have been cured, but my chiropractor tells me there is no reason why they couldn't be. It's a simple and painless proceedure that they can do to even a baby. (They did it to my 6 mo. old.) It's usually under $50.00 and can be done in only one session, but you may find them so helpful for that, you go back for other allergies you were only slightly troubled with. I feel our daughters' life was saved by this treatment, and I've talked to others who've said the same. Look up a practitioner in your area if you can, but it is still relatively new, so you may have to travel a bit to find one."

NETI POT

03/25/2010: Yogini23 from Bedford, NY writes: "Allergies: Please, please, please try the "NETI POT" !
Healthfood stores, yoga studios usually have it...it's looks like a tiny tea pot, you fill it with water, add salt, and rinse the nasal passages. It gently washes away dust, pollen, excess mucus. Simple!
All info, saline solution, head position (with pictures), a little breathing exercise after the nasal cleanse is included with the neti pot. Salt can be purchased separately.
P.S. Love this web site, love to learn about natural remedies, and so many good willing people...:)
Thank you EARTHCLINIC for creating a place where our good spirits can meet!"

[YEA] 10/11/2008: Marty from Nashville, Tennessee writes: "I have had seasonal outdoor allergies for most of my life due to living in Tennessee, which is known for high pollen counts. I have been able to manage this with over-the-counter medication until this past spring. I got deathly sick after painting a few rooms, pulling up old carpet, sanding some hardwood floors, and then trimming shrubs when the pollen count was high here. I've never had to seek medical attention until this event. I had all of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, but was coughing my head off to the point of urinating on myself. The mucus was so bad that I was throwing up. With no health insurance or physician, I opted to go to a clinic inside Walgreens. I was placed on a Prednisone Dosepak and an Albuterol inhaler, and was told I had asthma due to allergies. After I took the prescription, I had one good month and then the symptoms returned. I went back to the clinic, and was given the same medication, but was also told to go to the emergency room because I was wheezing in all lobes of my lungs. With no insurance, I opted not to do this. I took the steroids again, but the symptoms came back. I was told I couldn't return to the clinic because asthma was out of their realm. I've been sick for over 5 months. The coughing has been so bad that my ribs feel broken.
I decided to take matters into my own hands. I purchased a Neti Pot (Sinu Cleanse) after seeing it demonstrated on Oprah. I highly recommend this to all! After a few days, it helped with breathing and sinus headache. I'm still doing this 3 times per day. I also found this website, and began the organic apple cider vinegar "cocktail." I use Bragg's, and have decided two tablespoons of ACV, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, and one tablespoon of raw honey in 6 ounces of water (3 times daily) works best for me. I heat this in the microwave for 40 seconds to melt the honey. I do this for 6 days on and one day off. I also eat a cracker with no salt on it while drinking this to help offset the taste. I'm on my 3rd week with the ACV, and I feel so much better. For someone who felt on the brink of death and that an ER hospital visit was next, I'm amazed at the results. I'm slowly weaning myself off of the inhaler, but still need it. I'm also taking Mucinex and Zyrtec with the hope of getting rid of it too. I highly validate this ACV remedy to allergy and asthma folks! I will keep it up as a maintenance regimen with hopes I don't get this bad again!"
Replies10/13/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hi Marty, Are you aware that magnesium deficiency is being connected to asthma? Getting your level up is said to decrease the incidence of asthma attacks. One site I was reading on recommended transdermal magnesium instead of oral because it was difficult to take enough magnesium orally without getting diarrhea which kept you from retaining the magnesium taken. You can just add a cup of epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to your bath water several times a week."

[YEA] 07/23/2007: Tonya from Portland, OR writes: "I've been taking prescription allergy medicine for nearly 9 years. Even with two doses per day, year round, I suffer from terrible hayfever each spring and all through the harvest in the fall. They spike when air pollution gets bad in the summer time. Also, it turned out that I was allergic to my two cats. Unable to give them up, I've been suffering bravely with runny nose, itchy sinus, plugged nostrils, lots of mucus and nose blowing for 3 years by being careful to keep them off my bed and washing my hands after petting them.
I read about neti online and picked up a neti pot and a box of non-iodized table salt at my health food store. The first few times it was a bit awkward and once or twice one of my sinus was so plugged the water could not pass through. But I kept at it because I noticed I could breath better through my nose about 10-15 minutes after the rinse. I could actually breath in through my nose and feel the air at the back of my throat as it passed into my lungs! I didn't even know you could feel that!
Since then I have been using 1/4 tsp. salt in one full neti pot of luke warm water for each nostril (so two full pots in all) twice per day. The results have astonized me! I started out doing it once per day after brushing my teeth in the morning, but found myself WANTING to do it before bed so I could breath better during the night. Some of the results I've noticed: quieter breathing (no wheezing), almost NO need to blow my nose during the day (from the girl who used to go through a box of tissues every three days!), breathing through my nose while sleeping (NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE!), husband says less snoring, better breath and focus during yoga practice, and (the best of all) I am taking a half dose of my regular allergy medicine with the BEST RESULTS of my life! Halving my medication saves me about $700 per year!
I knew this neti thing really worked when: - I had a terrible headache for about 4 hours. As soon as I got home I washed my face and used the neti before laying down for a nap. INSTANTLY my headache was gone. I didn't even take the nap I was so amazed! - Woke up one morning with runny eyes, completely stuffed nose, and phlem in my throat. I actually choked as I brushed my teeth because there was so much mucus in the back of my throat. I then used the neti as part of my usual routine. The water would barely pass through my left nostril and kept going down my throat even though the tilt was right so I just kept spitting out the water as I rinsed. HUGE chunks of phlem came out of my mouth. Then the water finally started to run out my nostil and more phlem. About 10 minutes later I could breath totally normally through my nose. My eyes even seemed to feel better. - There are wildfires burning in Oregon right now, which would normally make me MISERABLE with allergies. In the past, I've taken my double allergy dose along with OTC medicines just to make it through the day when forest fires get bad. Despite the fact that I can SEE smoke smog in the air above Portland, I haven't had any other allergy symptoms. AMAZING!
I love my neti so much, I feel dirty if I don't use it after brushing my teeth! I takes less than 3 minutes each day now that I'm good at it and I see less and less mucus as time goes on. It might seem odd at first but TRY IT. My $14 neti pot was the best money I ever spent!"

NETTLES

10/27/2011: Sheila from Cork, Ireland writes: "I have used nettles as an allergy cure for many years.
In "The Healing Power Of Rainforest Herbs" By Leslie Taylor ( the book is online ) nettles are the number one cure for allergies.
Fresh is best. I put mine in salt water for a minute to kill any insects. They can be used as a salad vegetable, added to soup or made into a tea.
For emergencies I keep dried nettle leaves in store. These can be purchased cheaply at most health food stores.
I searched online for the list of vitamins and minerals and came across Dr. Christopher's Herbal Legacy: www.herballegacy.com
He lists nettles as containing:
Vitamins A C D E F K P B complexes, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B6, selenium, zinc, iron, magnesium, boron, sodium, iodine, chromium, copper and sulfur.
Good Luck and God Bless You
Love Is The Answer"
Replies[YEA] 10/29/2011: Sue From Wa State from Bellingham, Wa replies: "Hi, I too have had complete success with nettles eradicating a springtime pollen allergy, it was a completely miserable stuffy nose, but not at all a cold, etc. I made a nettle infusion actually, which is easy, just steeping 1/4 cup of dried nettles in hot water in a pint jar overnight, then strained and you drink it over the next two days. It's not bad, kind of an acquired taste and sure worth doing. I kind of learned this accidentally, from Susun Weed's book on menopause. Somewhere she mentioned nettles as helpful with allergies, so I gave it a go. Nettles seem to have many amazing properties."

I take 1 Kyodophilus probiotic and 2 fish oil pills and drink a small glass of strawberry kefir. I drink a lot of water throughout the day with a little of the kefir mixed in to give it flavor and get more good bacteria because kefir is full of beneficial bacteria. This works for me and also my teenage son takes 2 kyodophilus + 2 fish oils + a little kefir everyday and he is doing great!!! YEAH! p.s. we really try to stay away from sugary starchy foods. Also, we have tried many kinds of probiotics, but this is the best we've ever tried."

By the way, you HAVE heard about boron for preventing and even reversing osteo-arthritis, haven't you?
Probiotics also rid me of sinus infections, but one needs to gradually work up to take them plentifully & regularly to be effective. A good idea, in my opinion, if one has allergies, IBS, sinus infections or otherwise compromised immunity. I read a scientific detailed report online stating that probiotics bond with carcenogens and "dance" them out of the body.

You can take more prune juice during the day but since it contains fibre, excess might cause constipation. So you will need to find your own balance. But taking half a glass twice a day should not be a problem."

[YEA] 05/21/2009: Wanda from Ubud, Bali, Indonesia writes: "I didn't notice enough written about allergies. My mother had a bad rash around her ankles and we made an appointment with the allergy doctor. He walked into the room and said, "Take psyllium husk!" It worked like magic. The rash was gone in days. She was always prone to food allergies but this easy solution was a big surprise and took care of her constipation problems as well.
I use 1 Tbl a day of it now for large intestine spasms and it has helped. These comments have been helpful because I see other ways it has helped me as well. I don't know if I'm addicted to it but sure don't want to be without it! Those spasms are pretty disabling as long as they last. If I combined it with ANYthing else, I'd blame the other thing before the psyllium husk, let alone any kind of CLAY! There is nothing natural about putting that into our bodies! And I've learned the importance of enough water as well!"
