QUESTION

[YEA]  09/19/2006: Teresa from Roanoke, VA writes: "I'd had (been diagnosed with) bad allergies for almost a year, & was on doctor-prescribed pills (Nexium, Allegra, Nasonex) that long. The symptoms were just as bad, I was dried out, my blood pressure was up, & I experienced shortness of breath. I stopped the drugs & started vinegar. It was a total miracle within a few days. Unfortunately, I also have acid reflux, GERD & was hoping it would be cured, as well. I stopped my PPIs (Nexium, Aciphex). The ACV seemed to work for a couple of days, but then I started suffering worse than I ever have. I'm afraid that it's the vinegar, so I don't know what to do. Please, does anyone have any suggestions?"

Replies
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Teresa: Your body's bicarbonates is too low and this is why ACV worked only temporarily. Adding 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime, mixed in 1/2 glass of water should solve the problem. Increase your dose if you find this worked better. It takes about one week to relieve your conditions or at least for your body to have adequate levels of bicarbonates to be completely normal. It only takes one day to notice it works, and about 2 weeks to be normal. This is just my estimates based on my experience."

[YEA]  07/01/2006: Jack from Baltimore, MD writes: "Raw Apple Cider w/water 16oz 4-5 times day for 6 months. Half your body weight in ounces of water per day. Before meals and at bedtime. This concoction cured Hay fever I suffered from for 30 years, also acid reflux. My urine is mostly clear. No symptoms of allergies even if I miss weeks of the tonic and drink only clean water instead. No Acne break outs. Everyone can save so much money that they would spend on allergy pills if they would do this simple and cheap method."

[YEA]  06/21/2006: Shelly from Mentor, Ohio writes: "I started using apple cider vinegar when I read about all the allergy cures on earthclinic. My pollen allergies are all gone due to a combination of some local honey and 2 Tbsp acv every morning mixed in a glass of water. For my cat and dog (dander) allergies, I take an extra dose of vinegar before I go to someone's house with one of those animals. I still suffer from the dander allergies, but on a much much smaller scale. They are absolutely nothing like they used to be. I'm hoping that they will soon be gone."

[NAY]  05/08/2006: Anthony from Fort Meyers, FL writes: "Well, I must say this remedy fell far short of what I was expecting from other users reviews. I had tried using it at 2tbs, 3x a day for a week. When that failed to alleviate my allergies, I increased it to double that, 2tbs 6x a day. I took that dose for yet another week, and it still failed to alleviate my allergies in the least bit in any way whatsoever. Though it may depend on what your allergies are specifically, I can tell you that for mine, this remedy was ineffective."

[YEA]  04/21/2006: Kim from Phoenix, AZ writes: "After finding this site, I decided to try it for my allergies. My Doctor had suggested allergy shots and recommended I carry around an Epipen because my allergies are all so severe and I am allergic to just about everything. I had nothing to loose and everything to gain. WOW! is all I can say. I am pleased to say that since I have been taking it - I am now allergy free as long as I remain taking 4oz of water and 2 tblsp of ACV twice a day. My allergist even asked me not to tell too many people about my new discovery as it would put her out of business - as I was completely symptom free when I went for a check up"

[YEA]  02/14/2006: Tony from Miami, FL writes: "I am a 29 year old male, who has had nasal allergies since the age of 5. My mother told me a long time ago to give Apple Cider Vinegar a try, but I never believed that it would work. I have been on nasal allergy medications for years, and about two weeks ago, I just got fed up with pumping all of these chemicals into my body. I decided to seek a natural solution, that's when I ran across your website, and read about the Apple Cider Vinegar solution that my mother told me about. I cannot believe the results. Apple Cider completely eliminates my allergies, and it costs much less than what I used to pay for my nasal allergy medications. Doctors are trained nowadays to prescribe their patients non-natural medications, although there are many natural solutions to a lot of illnesses. Just think of it, how did people cope with illnesses prior to giant drug companies? They used natural remedies."

Not only did it eliminate my allergy symptoms, but the unexpected side benefits are great! My chronically runny nose -gone, constant throat clearing -gone, red rimmed eyes -gone, HOT FLASHES - GONE!My complexion is clearer and I have more energy. This is unbelievable. I use generic ACV and don't feel the need to switch to unfiltered."

[YEA]  12/17/2010: Kim from New York, NY writes: "For years I have been a huge fan of ACV for many common ailments, and recently I've discovered that a solution of ACV and water (about 1:10) works GREAT to immediately stop an itchy runny nose and clear up sinus congestion. I use an old nose spray bottle, well cleaned, and then filled with my solution. I spray a couple times in each nostril and then breathe deeply: watch out, as it does sting! But then immediately, all my aggravating symptoms stop and stay away for hours. This is so convenient and natural!"

[YEA]  05/25/2010: Busymom from Smalltown, Sunflowerstate, Usa writes: "Turmeric, ACV, and local honey cured my allergies AND acne

Two weeks ago I started an ACV and Turmeric regimen for allergies with a wonderful side-effect! My skin is georgeous! I take 1tsp of ACV in 8oz of water 4-5 times per day. I drink 8oz of warm soy milk, 4 dashes of turmeric, 1 dash of black pepper, and 1tsp of local honey once a day. I live on a farm with cows, horses, dogs, hay and LOTS of pollen. I was taking OTC drugs twice a day with little relief. My eyes would swell, tear up and itch; and I'd sneeze like crazy. For two weeks I have not taken ANY otc drugs, and the worst I've had is a little bit of eye itching. Another wonderful side-effect is that I HAVE ENERGY! LOTS OF IT! Everything I've used is straight off the grocery store shelf - not organic. Except the honey - local farmer's market. This website has saved me lots of money and grief...thank you!"

I have experienced NY spring allergies for years. This year I have been inhaling a little bit of h202 a few times a day (first thing in the a.m. - then, as needed) and it has helped tremendously. I think I will up my ACV/cayenne intake as well. Thanks for the reminder. Lee"

WARNING!

[YEA]  10/14/2008: Randyl from Richmond, VA writes: "Local bee pollen for allergy symptoms

I am extremely lucky to know a bee keeper who suffers as I do from allergies. It comes loose, rather than in capsules, and is from bees about 45 minutes from my home. Local pollen is very important to me.

While symptomatic, I use 1/2 tsp. in oatmeal or in an all-fruit smoothie daily. Otherwise, take 1/2 - 1 tsp every 2-3 days. Once I began two years ago, I have not had a single sinus headache or post nasal drip. The first time I tried it, I used a little more because I'd been ill for almost a month. The wad of phlegm that sat in my throat was gone overnight after taking my first 1 Tbl dose in a smoothie. After 3 days of taking 1 tsp daily, all symptoms were gone."

Replies
[WARNING!]  05/09/2010: Becky from Cleburne, Tx replies: "While I also highly recommend the bee pollen treatment, I do advise caution. The first time I had bee pollen was at a local honey tasting room. They had a little spoon you could get yourself a scoop and try it. I did like everyone else and got a small scoopful. I quickly had a sore and swollen throat, etc. If I had had much more I'm pretty sure I would have ended up in the hospital--something my allergies have never caused.

So, while I think it's a great desensitizer to allergies, to be cautious, especially if you have allergies. Start very small and work your way up.

I throw a couple pinches in my morning smoothie. Haven't noticed that it's hugely helpful for allergies, but I may need to have worked up to a greater amount by now."

[YEA]  06/11/2008: Linds from Columbus, Ohio writes: "Bee pollen works by desensitizing your body to the pollen that travels through the air and causes your body to react. With small daily doses, your body builds up its defenses to fight off the allergens and avoid reaction in the future. Buy local if possible so it helps you build resistance against daily allergens."

Have taken just about everything for both. They just seem to get worse and the meds work less and less. I tried this out of desperation. Guess what.... I don't take any meds for allergies or asthma anymore. Haven't had to in over 6 months. It is good for several things. It's an ancient remedy from Egypt. The liquid taste horrible. Get the black seed oil soft gels so you don't have to put up with the taste."

BREASTFEEDING

YEA

[YEA]  04/02/2006: Audrey from Rocklin, CA writes: "I breast fed all my children. However, one of my babies was babysat for just 3 hours while I looked for a new home. My sister-in-law unfamiliar with breast feeding or the allergic dangers of cows milk on a 6 month old, fed my son a bottle of cow milk. My infant son went into pneumonia. He (we) suffered for 3 weeks and were at the brink of putting him in Children's Hospital. He cried all night, all day and I had to pump my breast because he could not breathe and suck at the same time. The doctor said his lungs were damaged.

The doctor told me that he would probably have weakened lungs and allergies when he got older. Exactly as predicted, my son has terrible allergies, sinus infections and occasionally pneumonia throughout his life (he is 28 now). My three other breast fed children did not have milk products introduced until 2 years old. They experience NO allergies or problems with milk products.

Infants were meant to grow on breast milk NOT prepared cows milk! I have seen this same scenario played out in families for years young and elderly friends will tell of similar incidents where they as infants were given cows milk formula or straight cows milk and led lives miserable because of early ingestion of cows milk.

Just one bottle in spite of breast feeding causes my son years of miserable respiratory illness! Breasts are meant to nourish infants, even animals know that! If breast milk without introducing milk products too early can prevent a life time of illness, why aren't young moms told by doctor's and nurses the complications that their children will bear?

My mom (born in 1912) saw in her generation (1920-30's) artificial milk in baby bottles introduced in the commercialized hospital. Babies were brought up on formula and often watered down formula were weak and sick all the time. She braved being labeled having "a third world" mentality (used to bully the new mom into a formula customer). Breast feeding nourishes the whole infant and prepares the digestive system as well as being the BEST first food that is the best preventative against allergies, sinus infections and digestive ailments for life!

A little time out of a mother's life can benefit the child and the mother from the beneficial hormones.

She also braved having a child at 39 in 1952, me! I learned from this old gal who used common horse sense and, yes, she also used good old fashioned organic apple juice to cure many ills.

Bird flu is the lightning rod of the pharmacopoeia media lately. Interesting to note that relatives that feed their relatives Kim Chi (fermented cabbage) who had bird flu completely recovered! The heck with costly, immune attacking bird flu injections..bring out the fermented cabbage - - - it kills the flu and lowers your blood sugar as well! Think fermentation! Apple Cider Vinegar may be more powerful than we think and should be on every table!"

[YEA]  07/10/2010: Peetred from Hastings, Ne, Usa writes: "We got two kittens only to find out that our 4 year old son was allergic. He would sneeze, cough, get congested, and his eyes would get swollen, puffy, and red. I started having him drink lukewarm chamomile tea when I read that it was a natural antihistamine. It seems to reduce his allergies significantly. When his eyes get swollen, I also apply a used chamomile tea bag to his eye/eyes. It brings down the swelling immediately."

CHANGING AIR FILTERS AND MISTING

YEA

[YEA]  08/05/2010: Paolo from Bloomington, In, Usa writes: "It's taken me years to realize it but the main source of my allergies has actually been my house itself. I noticed that often while outside they were considerably better. But I was so tired from the allergies it was hard for me to get out more. Then I changed my air filter and it was chalk full of dust and mold and quite moist. It only cost 1.19 per filter and now I do it once a month. On top of this often when my air kicks out I take a homemade misting solution of 30 drops of essential oils (it's always good to include a purifying oil something like eucalyptus), a dab of rubbing alcohol or vodka, and water and spray it over the vents. This purifies the air and has helped immensely. I noticed a huge difference by repeating these activities alone. Also allergies are also a part of an immune system problem so alkalizing the body on top of this is a good idea. Barley greens is an excellent supplement for such purposes. So far so good. A little sneeze and blow of my nose here and there but, nowhere close to where it used to be."

DAIRY

QUESTION

[QUESTION]  04/29/2009: Al from Pompano, FL writes: "Why is CALCIUM or MILK(DAIRY) bad for you?? I have allergies and I notice that every time i eat or drink DAIRY, my allergies start up."

Replies
04/29/2009: Selena from Chula, GA replies: "A lot of people are allergic to dairy. Because the milk has been pasteurized, all or most of the enzymes have been destroyed. This causes incomplete digestion of the milk protein. The body reacts to this when it enters the bloodstream. This is what causes the allergic response. Either avoid dairy or find an unpasteurized dairy source. Most food allergies are caused by this incomplete digestion problem, sometimes referred to as "leaky gut syndrome." Taking food enzymes with meals and incresing your intake of raw "enzyme rich" foods should help with your other allergies. I have found that locally produced honey helps tremendously with my pollen allergies. I buy mine from a person who lives within 30 miles of me."

[YEA]  04/27/2008: Sandra from Tampa, Florida writes: "The cure for both Asthma and Allergies is a healthy alkaline based diet. Foods come in 2 groups acidic and alkaline. The more acidic foods we eat the more we are susceptible to diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, tumors, colds and asthma and allergies. I am curing my son who has had chronic, food allergies and asthma. There was one point he could only eat 3 foods, now he eat about 15. I realized that he was allergic to all foods acidic and his food allergies were compounded by his asthma. I instituteed a heavy alkaline based diet and now his allergies are better by 50% and asthma went for chronic to mild.... It's all what we eat... do some research into alkalinity and acidity and I guarantee you, you are what you eat!!!"
