Organic Cow's Milk Kefir or Goat's Milk Kefir are excellent choices for probiotics. Drink at least 1/2 C before bed and you'll sleep better as the probiotics work through your system. The Cow Kefir is very tart, but I love it. The Goat Kefir is like pudding but not as tart.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Only been one week since I found a probiotic formula at Whole Foods specifically for weight loss in the fridge section, but it appears to be working well; 1- 2 lb loss. I was specifically looking for a probiotic combination to test for weight loss, and Solaray was the only one I could find in an extensive section of probiotics at WF. Note: Side effects (bit of stomach pain that passes quickly) if you take it in the middle of the day vs. in the morning on an empty stomach. Def one should drink a lot of water with this product!

If anyone else has had luck using probiotics for weight loss, please write in and let us know which one!

Here are the strains in mine in case anyone is interested:

How are you recording a 1 - 2 lb weight loss as "weight loss" when one's weight may go up and down by at least that much in the course of a single day without doing anything? There is no way I could record a 2 lb weight loss. I'd have to record a 2 INCH loss - with a tape measure - and even that probably wouldn't be reflected as any loss on a scale, depending on how I lost those inches.

The probiotic strain, Christensenellaceae has been purported, based on scientific studies, to aid in weight loss. Does anyone know of the availability of supplements containing this probiotic strain?

Good for you! What a nice benefit. My husband and kids would probably do well with this product since they could cut their sugar cravings and snacking in half and still have plenty to spare! I'm going to put the whole family on this product. Thank you for sharing your experience with us <3

Larry--I Google'd it and got many hits, but when I checked the specific ingredients in each probiotic supplement, the Christensenellaceae strain, nor the Christensenellaceae minutia strain was listed among them.

I didn't check the listed strains for all of the supplements that came up in the search (I checked about 5 of them), so perhaps if you keep digging, you'll find one.

If you don't find one, you could always try Granny Smith apples, which are said to promote the type gut flora that aids in weight loss.

Christensenellaceae is a family of bacteria that are found in the human gut and may be involved in regulating body weight, according to a new study led by researchers at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The team has now shown that mice fed on a diet containing Christensenella minuta have lower levels of fat in their blood than those who were not given this species of bacteria.
