Oregano Oil Health Benefits

Sinusitis

For the last 15 years I've had chronic sinusitis, post nasal drip, clogged nose, etc. I was constantly clearing my throat, and sometimes coughing. I snored a lot, which my wife didn't appreciate, and the snoring actually would wake me up in the middle of the night, leaving me tired in the morning. I seemed to catch colds more easily than before, but I attributed this to my very frequent plane travel.

Doctors prescribed antibiotics, but I they did not fully cure the problem and when I stopped the treatment, every symptom returned. (And I just don't like unnatural treatments.) Others said it was allergies.

I wondered: Could my sinusitis be a fungal problem? More exploring on the internet found the answer:

In 1999 Mayo Clinic researchers found the cause of most chronic sinus infections to be an immune system response to fungus, and that this may kick off a secondary bacteriological infection. It is not an allergic reaction, but an immune reaction.
Again, I felt betrayed by the medical profession. Why hadn't anyone told me this?

I went to the health and vitamin store to look for an anti-fungal nasal spray, and nothing met my requirements or budget ($10-15 for a one ounce bottle of ingredients seemed way out of line.) Here's the formula I "invented:"

1. Rinse out a 1 ounce nasal spray bottle
2. Add one eye-dropper (approximately 1 ML) of Oregano Juice (NOT Oregano Oil -it's too strong and will not dissolve in water)
3. Add a pinch of salt (approximately ML) (Iodized salt is OK - iodine is a good anti-fungal)
4. Fill the rest of the sprayer with distilled water, and shake well until the salt is dissolved.

Spray as frequently as once an hour until symptoms subside. For me, this solution began working within an hour; most symptoms were gone in three days. And the price of the ingredients per bottle is just a few pennies.

If the oregano/saline solution is too strong for you, dilute in half with water. If you want, you can add a drop of eucalyptus oil with ML of glycerin, (which will bond the oil to water). I now spray once or twice a day, just to prevent any recurrence.

A very dear friend, who is 75, has had awful sinusitis for years. He heavily cleared his throat every minute or two. I told him of this simple formula, and two days later he called me to say it was working. He then said with amazement: "I don't believe it, we've been talking for over 15 minutes and I haven't had to clear my throat once!"

There are articles and books that claim that some cancers are caused by fungus. If this is true, taking action on fungus early may be very beneficial in the long run. It's time we gave fungus a deeper analysis.

Kennel Cough in Dogs: 100% Natural Oregano oil in capsules; 2 capsules twice a day for a week or so, about 2 to 5 drops of oregano oil per capsule with a carrier agent like grape seed oil (about 12 drops). You can get the essential oil at most nature type food stores and the empty capsules. Within a few days you will notice a huge difference in your dog and within a week no more coughing and back to normal. You can also sterilize your home of germs and viruses by putting about 15 to 20 drops in a humidifier and running it. Your house will smell like a wonderful italian kitchen and the house will be sanitized!

I haven't been completely cured yet, but Oregano Oil and Mineral Oil have greatly helped a case of scabies and I feel I am on my way to recovering. I actually had this case of scabies for several years, but it never got very bad as I had tried various over the counter remedies because I thought at first it was just dry skin or a skin irritation. When I finally realized what I had, I was upset because I did not want to take a neurotoxin. An herbalist recommended the oregano oil and almost instantly I began to see results. I've been taking it orally and also applying it topically. I have also been using mineral oil on my hands as well.

This will work--no exceptions! Run hot shower over body for a couple minutes to open pores; turn off shower; add 5 drops pure oregano oil to some liquid soap like Dr. Bronner's Eucalyptus Soap. Mix in hands and apply to one major limb--left arm, e.g. Do the same again for the right arm. Again for the torso, and again for both legs respectively. It will burn. Tolerate it for as long as you can--between 3 to 5 minutes at the most. Rinse.

For me it cures these no-see-ums that I presume to be some kind of mite. I frequently get infested after handling papers or books that have previously been infected. Why I just don't throw out all these things so that I'll never be exposed again, I don't know. Actually, it's because I'm an information junkie and hope that freezing or cooking in the oven will rid these papers/books of these parasites. Not necessarily! I just got a new infestation which brings me here to this website. I did "the treatment" just now and it works. It burns the little critters to death. Just accept that your skin will burn also for the 3-5 minutes before you rinse it, and somewhat after. But you will definitely feel an immediate sense of relief because your nerve endings won't be agitated any longer

Candida

Oregano oil will also help to prevent ''candida albicans'' I took ''oregano tablets'' some years ago to treat ,candida, now i have some of the dried herbs on toast mixed with oil and fresh garlic, just to kill off any unwanted guests in my digestive system, i believe it works. My husband has just been diagnosed with the ''helicobacter pylori'', bacterium, he is devastated, he caught it from our friend, who was at the time taking the drugs,we cannot understand, how this could happened, he ate some food cooked by our friend. He is treating it with ,with turmeric, garlic, pau d'arco, vitamins, to boost immune systems, rinses his mouth with one drop of ''tea tree'' essential oil in half glass of water, to prevent the bacterium in the mouth. Also is starting ''slippery elm'' to help the mucosa in the stomach. Hope this helps, best wishes, lucy.

re: Update oregano -- Taking oregano tincture has really helped. I felt wonderful for 2 days then felt like I had the flu for the next 2 days. (Headache, dizzy, muscle and bodyaches ect.).But I think it was things being killed off in my body and a release of all those toxic critters. I have also done some reading about tumeric and have been putting it on my food which I think helps too. I take 20 drops of oregano tincture 2x's a day in water. The brand Im taking is Oregano Spirits by Herb Pharm. I hope this helps because I was feeling like the Hpylori was killing me. I was miserable and had no energy at all. After the oregano Im feeling so much better and I have more energy. Maybe because my body doesn't have to fight the Hpylori as hard with the help of oregano. I could be wrong but that is what it seems like to me. Im just glad Im feeling better! I hope this helps.

Mold Sickness

M from Texas wrote about ailments possibly stemming from toxic mold. My young son and I are victims of toxic mold inhalation and exposure, so I have learned more about the subject than I ever wanted to know. The most important point I want to get to this person is, if you took things from that apartment, especially if mold was visible on them, you have just brought the problem with you. The mold is now growing in a new home, and you are still exposing yourself to it. My son and I had to leave everything behind and move from our home. Traditionally Western medical practioners do not even want to acknowledge the health problems associated with toxic mold; They have received no training for it in medical school, and there is pressure on them from numerous areas such as insurance companies, real estate management and developers, etc., to not acknowledge the affliction. I am treating my son with a number of natural remedies, although ACV hasn't been one of them, I intend to try it. But what I have found to be helpful is pure essential oils.

Oregano is the best, but when mixed with Frankicense, and a special formulated blend of Clove, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalytpus, the synergy of the Oregano is enhanced. I put these oils into a gelatin capsule and take them orally. I also get massages with oils over the spinal area which is where the fungi like to live, in the spinal fluid. These oils with the massage, called a Raindrop technique massage, will help drive the mold from your body. I do experience the mold ejecting from my body with skin bumps that spit out these nasty little white or brown crystal-like things, the size of a piece of salt or a little larger. They get easily infected, so it is important to keep the skin very clean, and to use Colloidial Silver or some other method the keep bacterial growth down. I am open for ideas to replace Colloidial Silver, because it is so very expensive. Any ideas?? Also, we now use a diffuser in our home which diffuses essential oils into the air we breathe. This has helped our conditions a lot, and it helps ensure that as molds are being tracked into our home, that we are killing them.

Just be sure that you are getting PURE ESSENTIAL OILS. They cannot be fragrance grade or be adulterated in any way. Love your site!!!!!!!! Ask all to pray for us, and for all victims of toxic mold.

Psoriasis

I noticed in your long list of ailments, psoriasis was not mentioned. Please let people know that Oregano Leaf absolutely gets rid of psoriasis in a big way. I have battled psoriasis since I was 10 yrs old (I'm now 48). I had heard that oregano leaf and olive leaf were good for infections so one day, I started taking them both. Within a week my skin was so clear my husband commented. I started wondering what I had done differently. I had taken olive leaf before with no visable result so I started investigating the oregano. There are MANY resources out there on psoriasis and oregano leaf, and also, that psoriasis is mainly caused by a fungus (which oregano goes after). I personally buy OregaMax since other oreganos have not worked for me. People should know about this!! It is wonderful. Three to five capsules a day (divided) should do it. I got my initial results simply taking 1 both am and pm.

Athlete's Foot

1:30am, Saturday Night: I read AC from West Midlands, England's post about using Garlic for Athlete's foot a few days ago and was eager to try it. I have had athlete's foot on and off for years. I also have deeply etched cracked heals which I understand is possibly a fungal infection. And then recently the skin around my right big toe started to peel and looks nasty as can be. I tried the best OTC for Athlete's Foot, but with limited success. Takes 5 days to go away and then comes back a couple weeks later.

We had just run out of garlic, so I opted instead for another powerful anti-fungal, Wild Oil of Oregano. I use OO for coughs and sinus infections and had about 15 capsules left. Before going to sleep, I punctured a capsule of oil and rubbed it over both of my feet, especially concentrating it on my big toe, in between my toes where the athelete's foot itched and the cracks on my heals. I put socks on so the oil wouldn't get all over the sheets. It doesn't smell bad at all -- much better than garlic for sure!

Just like AC reported, there was dramatic improvement by the morning! The infection around my big toe was 50% better... The blisters in between my toes had disappeared. The cracks in my heals have started to seal and are unbelievably soft... (I had been rubbing shea butter on the cracks every night, which helped, but not to this extent).

I did the Oregano oil 3 morning and night for 2 days, took a day off. The infection around my big toe is all but gone. No more peeling skin. The cracks on my heels continue to slowly improve. Tonight I switched to Grapefruit Seed Extract and my feet, normally cold, warmed up right away. This may be a great remedy for those suffering from cold hands and feet. My feet are still tinglingly warm 2 hours after applying the GSE.

I have the feeling that the GSE will work just as well as the Oregano Oil. I also am trying the GSE on my perioral dermatitis and will report back any improvements. I can tell you that the itchy postules around my nose have disappeared. I had to wash off the GSE after about 20 minutes because it started to burn.

Strep Throat

I don't know if you consider this a natural remedy or not, but oil of oregano has stopped strep-like sore throats very quickly for me and my wife. If it appears to be full-blown strep, I soak a cotton swab in oil of oregano and dab it directly on the inflamed area. If it's milder I can often place about 6 drops under my tongue and hold them until the mouth fills with saliva. I then gargle a bit to coat the back of the throat and swallow. The oil has a powerful burning taste but it has come through for us many times.

I had strep throat last week and it was getting pretty bad with the pain. I tried gargling with ACV, drinking it with water, honey, cayenne pepper, etc. I even tried Amoxicillin from the doctor. Nothing helped me...until I tried Oil of Oregano. On Wednesday night, I took a couple doses and by Thursday morning, the pain was gone. Now, a week later, the strep is totally cleared. For me, this was the cure for my Strep. Oil of Oregano is great!

organic oregano oil ( capsules size 00 ) 4 drops in capsule every 2 hours the first day and every 4 hours and then every 6 and then every 8 for a period of 10 days cures sinus infections. I have a friend that uses essential oils. I didn't have insurance at the time so i called her at my wits end. I normally am prescribed Zithromax and Prednisode ( a steroid) that's how severe my sinus infections normally are. You take it for 10 days and it fights off the infection. Also peppermint oil rubbed around your sinus area ( use a 1 to 1 ratio with cold pressed extra virgin olive oil) it gets your nose running right away. You do have to take it for 10 days or it can come back. Using this in combination to the other remedies on here will take care of the bacterial and viral sinus infections. (i get both!) Hope it helps. I've been doing this for the last 2 times i got a sinus infection.

Asthma

Oregano Oil. We bought the stuff from North American Herb and Spice that has cumin and sage in it called Oregacyn. Also have recently started taking Apple Cider Vinegar. Oregacyn completely cures sinus infections and completely reversed my son's asthma. ACV helps eradicate sinus stuffiness and itchy patches on the skin. I wanted to recommend a couple of other books that are definitely worth reading in your "Worth Reading" section: 1. The Cure is in the Cupboard by Cass Ingram. I love this book it is about oregano and it helped my son so much with his asthma. 2. The Fungus Link by Doug Kaufmann, I love his show-I am a faithful watcher every week day. I truly believe fungus is among us! 3. Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Patrick Quillin. This book was a wonderful guide to help my mother when she was battling lung cancer. The book outlines which foods can help our body heal from cancer during chemotherapy and radiation treatments, as well as which foods can help stave off chemo sickness during treatment. I love the nutritional aspect of improving the immune system. Thanks for your time. Love the website-I think I could become an addict to it!

Oil of Oregano for Sinus Infection: Wanted to first say that I haven't had ice cream in years, and I'd never had a sinus infection until....I ate ice cream at a dinner party last Dec (to avoid insulting the hosts) & 3 days later had a nasty sinus infection. I will never touch the stuff again. . (Thanks!) I started seriously looking for natural cures when I lost sense of smell & taste due to clogged sinuses. The inhaled salt water & ACV steams helped with that, but it was the oil of oregano that finally got rid of the infection for good. A big thanks to the person who posted this remedy. I took four drops every 2 hours for about 4 days, then tapered down for the next 10 days. I started feeling better on day 2, but had it completely kicked by day 11. Thanks for this wonderful site.

I came down with a most horrible sinus infection after getting a really bad head cold. I was desperate! I even went to a conventional pharmacy to ask for help- which of course, they couldn't do. So, I went to the health food store in my neighborhood and the lady there recommended wild oil of oregano. WOW! Is this stuff powerful! It is day 2 and the pain is completely gone and I can breathe freely. It is really hot (I take it sub-lingually) even though it is in an olive oil base. I have spent more money than I care to mention trying to find something that really worked- and this really does. I also irrigate my sinuses with a colloidal silver spray. The combination of these two things is the best I've found so far.
