EC doesn't currently have Astaxanthin (AST) on the list of potential Fibromyalgia remedies and based on this new study (July, 2024), I would like to add it to the list :

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0753332224007406?via=ihub

Here are some relevant quotes from the study :

' AST ameliorated mechanical and thermal pain in mice with fibromyalgia and mitigated sleep disorders and depressive-like symptoms induced by pain. '

'AST exhibits a significant anti-inflammatory effect, by inhibiting neuronal activation, glial cell activation, and the expression levels of inflammatory factors.'

'AST inhibited the formation of the NLRP3 on the central and peripheral regions.'

It is worth noting that astaxanthin has a very good safety profile as discussed here :

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31788888/

Here is a relevant quote from the review :

' We reviewed 87 human studies, none of which found safety concerns with natural AX supplementation, 35 with doses ≥12 mg/day. '

In a previous article I wrote using astaxanthin to increase endurance, I used 48 mg/day to good effect with no problem. I discussed that here:

Astaxanthin also comes in 2 mg, 4 mg, 10 mg, and upward. I recommend starting at a lower dosage, once a day, because, like I mentioned above, I learned after just a few days that I'm allergic to Astaxanthin. However, I now take Antarctic Krill Oil, and it contains astaxanthin. Each softgel of this Krill Oil contains 200 MicroGrams of Astaxanthin, so I can still consume astaxanthin, but in a lower dosage than with pure Astaxanthin. I now use it 2 or 3 days a week, 2 or three softgels each day, and my intake of Astaxanthin is now .4-.6 mg each day I use it. My allergy doesn't affect me as it seriously did with 4mg-10mg, and I still notice benefits in my inner ear and eyesight.

For Tinnitus, try Astaxanthin 2 mg 1 softgel per day. This helped me until I learned that I'm allergic to it. Nevertheless, Astaxanthin can not only relax your inner ear, but it's beneficial to your eyes as well.
