Activated Charcoal Remedy for Body Odor

Products for body odor abound, nearly all of them topical. Did you know there is an effective natural remedy for body odor that you use internally? Taken daily, a small amount of activated charcoal powder can rid you of body odor and keep you from needing to use deodorant!

Activated charcoal is used in the medical field as a deodorizer. And you can have this benefit at home very simply.

All you need is some activated charcoal powder.

  • Mix ¼ teaspoon of the powder into a glass of water each day and drink it down!

A straw will make sure you don’t end up with a mustache.

This remedy is best taken on an empty stomach.

Do not take activated charcoal within 2 hours of taking any medication or supplements because charcoal may adsorb them.

While most people do not mind drinking activated charcoal in water because it is tasteless, some do not care for the slightly gritty feel. If that is the case for you, an alternative would be to take one activated charcoal tablet or one activated charcoal capsule. However, do follow up the tablet or capsule with a full glass of water. Activated charcoal can be constipating and the water reduces the risk. Water is also needed to flush toxins from the body.

An additional benefit of this remedy is that it can adsorb* other toxins in your body. In fact, that is how it works in the first place. As it removes toxins you body has less toxins to eliminate. The toxins are a primary cause of body odor.

Should I Shower First?

The activated charcoal remedy for BO works best if you shower first and get your armpits nice and clean! If you start off with smelly armpits, this remedy won't be nearly as effective.

You won't need an additional roll-on natural deodorant when you drink this tonic, but test with a DIY roll-on deodorant and without and let us know which worked better for you.

Will It Last All Day?

We put Activated Charcoal to the test in Mexico to see if this all-natural deodorant tonic will last all day during profuse sweating in the sweltering sun and high humidity!

Does this Remedy Work for Everyone?

If you find that activated charcoal is not effective for you, you may need to increase the dose to 1/2 teaspoon (or 2 capsules or tablets) each morning. If that does not work, you may need to include some other remedies to eliminate body odor. If you implement them it may be that down the road activated charcoal powder alone will work for you.

Where Do I Buy Activated Charcoal?

Activated charcoal tablets are found worldwide in most pharmacies in the first aid section (as an antidote to accidental poisoning). Activated charcoal powder is available online from companies like Amazon.

*adsorb is the correct word for the mechanism by which activated charcoal works. Toxins adhere to the atoms of the carbon, which is what activated charcoal is made of. They are not soaked up by the charcoal, which is what absorb would be.

Charcoal helps to absorb toxins from the body and tighten pores, it also absorbs odor and wetness in the underarms. Natural charcoal deodorant is often made up of activated charcoal, shea butter, cocoa butter, and a blend of essential oils, among other nourishing natural ingredients. Almost every skin type can make use of the natural charcoal deodorant.

Charcoal helps to absorb sweat and other impurities. It is known to help clear out pores by taking out impurities and removing excess oil. Charcoal deodorant is yet to make as many waves as the general benefits of charcoal. It helps significantly in detoxification.

Liquid Chlorophyll and activated charcoal will go a long way to getting rid of body odor when used internally. Unfortunately, both of them can cause stains. So be sure to use them in an empty sink to avoid staining your counter or clothing.

Although you have to be careful with it to avoid making a mess, activated charcoal is best used in bulk. Add 1 or 2 tablespoons to a pint of water, and sip through a straw. Be sure to rinse out your mouth with peroxide afterward and rinse your teeth to get the charcoal off.

Activated charcoal in bulk is made from coal or coconut shells. Obviously, you want the coconut shell-made activated charcoal. You can buy it in bulk online in 40-50 pound lots, and split the cost with your friends.

Activated charcoal is a universal detoxifier and is used in emergency rooms for that purpose. Given that there are thousands and thousands of chemicals in our food, water, and air, and we have no idea how they interact with each other, it behooves all of us to take universal detoxifiers like large doses of Vitamin C or activated charcoal. Liquid Chlorophyll is also a detoxifier.

You don't need to use peroxide after drinking it. Activated Charcoal will NOT permanently stain your teeth. You only need to brush them. In fact I brush me teeth with activated charcoal powder and it gets them whiter than anything else.
