9 Internal Uses of Colloidal Silver for Pets

| Modified on Nov 05, 2023
Colloidal Silver for Cats and Dogs

Colloidal silver is an amazing broad spectrum answer for many health problems in dogs and cats. It is commonly used as an alternative to antibiotics for bacterial diseases, including urinary tract infections and illnesses caused by ticks.

Colloidal silver is an inexpensive and effective holistic solution to viral and fungal maladies, too. Colloidal Silver can even be used topically as a natural remedy for rashes, hot spots, and ringworm.

Colloidal Silver is a solution of tiny silver particles suspended in water. It can be bought online or at most health food stores. The most economical option is to invest in a colloidal silver generator. This will provide as much colloidal silver as is needed for an entire household of pets and people for many years.

Internal Use of Colloidal Silver for Pets

Colloidal Silver can be used internally for pets and is easy to administer as it is nearly  tasteless. It can be added to a pet's water bowl, mixed with his food, or given with a syringe. For best results, when treating an acute condition, colloidal silver should be given 2-3 times a day.

How Much Colloidal Silver Should I Give my Dog?

  • Large Dogs – 2-4 Tablespoons per dose
  • Medium Dogs – 2-6 teaspoons per dose
  • Small Dogs – 1-2 teaspoons per dose

How Much Colloidal Silver Should I Give My Cat?

  • Large Cats 1-2 teaspoons per dose
  • Small Cats – up to 1 teaspoon per dose
  • Kittens – ¼ -1/2 teaspoon per dose

If a dog or cat is not responding as desired, it is perfectly fine to increase the dose. There is a wide range of ppm (parts per million) of colloidal silver solutions. If you buy a colloidal silver product, you can follow package directions and dilute to about 20 ppm. If you are making it yourself, aim for a final solution that is between 15-30 ppm.

1. Tick-Borne Diseases

Tick-borne diseases like Ehrlichia and Lyme disease respond to colloidal silver. This natural antibiotic does not come with the typical side effects associated with doxycycline which is usually prescribed to treat tick-borne diseases. Colloidal silver can also be used long-term if necessary without the concern of causing a systemic yeast infection associated with traditional antibiotics.

2. Urinary Tract Infections

Dogs and cats with urinary tract infections can take colloidal silver 4 times daily. If the pet is lethargic, an eyedropper can be used to dose the colloidal silver. Because it is almost tasteless, this remedy is less traumatic to sensitive pets than other oral remedies.

3. Respiratory Illnesses

Even if the specific cause of a respiratory illness is unknown, colloidal silver can be used to treat respiratory illnesses. In addition to internal use, it can be added to the ears or even squirted up the nostrils if needed.

If a nebulizer is available and the pet is cooperative, it is possible to use a nebulizer to get the colloidal silver into the lungs. 2-5 ml is typically used in a nebulizer at a time. Nebulizers are used as many as four times daily, or as needed.

4. Candida Infections

Colloidal silver has antifungal properties and can be used on a daily basis to fight a systemic yeast infection. It can be used internally and externally simultaneously if needed to treat yeast problems.

5. Diarrhea

Whether diarrhea is caused by infection or food poisoning, colloidal silver is a useful remedy. In addition to using colloidal silver, plenty of fluid (water, broth or children’s oral rehydration solution) should be given to prevent dehydration.

6. Vomiting

Colloidal silver can be used to treat vomiting in pets. It should be given in small frequent amounts to reduce the risk of the dog or cat vomiting up the remedy. However, overdose is not a risk, so if the dog or cat vomits up the colloidal silver, simply repeat the dose, slowly and gently.

However, if vomiting is caused by ingestion of toxic chemicals, a call to the vet is warranted. Activated charcoal is often used for these types of poisonings.

7. Fever

Fever can be caused by a variety of infections. Colloidal silver works against many infections and is a useful remedy to fight the infection and thus eliminate the fever. With fever, additional liquids are usually needed as well.

8. Dental Use

Colloidal silver is useful for the oral care of dogs and cats. Bad breath, bleeding gums, or mouth infections respond to colloidal silver. Colloidal silver can be swabbed or sprayed into the mouth twice a day or as needed.

9. Prophylactic Use

If a dog or cat is prone to infections, a daily dose of colloidal silver may be helpful to prevent frequent infections. Simply use the suggested dose listed above once daily.

External Use of Colloidal Silver for Pets

Colloidal Silver is also a great topical treatment for a variety of conditions in pets. It can be used in a spray or dropper bottle.

Colloidal silver spray is useful for:

  • Rashes
  • Hot Spots
  • Burns
  • Infections
  • Eczema
  • Ringworm

Ideally, affected skin is sprayed 3-4 times a day. Colloidal silver does not need to be covered after applying it to the skin unless there is a reason to cover the skin. (For example, if the dog is scratching or chewing on the skin.)

Colloidal Silver in an eye dropper bottle is useful for:

  • Conjunctivitis (drop a few drops in each eye twice a day for two days)
  • Ear infections (one dropper full into each ear, twice a day for a week)

Advantages to colloidal silver as an external treatment:

  • It is safe for a pet to ingest if he licks it
  • It won't be painful to a pet when it is applied
  • It won't stain furniture or bedding house

I noticed my miniature border collie's gums were bleeding. I swabbed his mouth with a cotton ball and was shocked as to how much blood was on the swab. I began researching natural remedies. I didn't have in house some of the things required so I thought of what I did have available. I started swabbing his gums and teeth with colloidal silver and then followed it with coconut oil. Two days later no blood and his teeth appeared more white and gums looked healthier.

I love this stuff. My friend makes it so her ppm varies. Depending on whether she remembers she is making it. It is usually 30 ppm.

Please stop giving your pets Anti-biotics. Colloidal Silver (10 ppm strength) DOES the SAME & it's 10000000% SAFE!!!! It treats & fights more than 650 pathogens. It is an incredibly powerful antimicrobial. You can find it at most Super Markets (especially the health food ones), even Walgreen's (if you're in a hurry, start with that BUT for longer use I'd rather you get the best brand 'Sovereign Silver') I get mine from Sprout's (The Sovereign Silver). Silver is both effective and safe to use against bacteria, fungi and viruses because it suffocates the undesirable microbes (under 6 mins) without harming the living tissue of the animal. It doesn't interfere or cause adverse reactions with other medicine. It's TOTALLY SAFE!!!

Colloidal silver for dogs is most often used in treating skin, hot spots and ear infections as well as bacteria and viral infections. Colloidal silver for cats is most often used for treating UTI (urinary tract infections), feline herpes and rodent ulcers.

Colloidal silver for pets is also used in the treatment of many other illnesses including thyroid issues, yeast infections, tummy aches and can even help with eliminating parasites.

Colloidal silver works by surrounding the pathogen or bacteria and suffocating it, killing its ability to replicate.

Colloidal silver is safe in higher doses. It is not dose specific, which means it can be given in larger doses for more difficult health issues without any harmful side effects.

I see many sites online recommend 3-5 drops with meals. That is not really enough to address chronic health concerns. My opinion is that many people who are advertising ways to use colloidal silver do not have all the facts or have not actually used it on pets or themselves.

COLLOIDAL SILVER AS A NATURAL ALL-AROUND HEALING REMEDY THAT IS SAFE TO USE WITHOUT OVERDOSING

· Infections of all types

Colloidal silver is an all-around cure – good for treating bacterial, yeast and fungal infections, and viruses of all types (even parvo). It is the best all-around medicine for pets to have on hand for any disease. CS can be given as a natural preventative whenever exposure to illness or diseased animals is entirely unavoidable.

· Skin

Apply colloidal silver topically for skin problems. Good for almost any kind of skin infection, including ringworm, cuts, bites, wounds and even burns. CS helps to repair tissue damage and soothes the skin.

· Ears

Dogs with chronic ear infections - good news! Colloidal silver helps clear yeast and remove goop and odor from smelly ears. Use an oral syringeful directly into the ears to help kill yeast and bacteria.

· Eyes

CS treats many types of eye problems including pink eye, allergies, infections, inflammation and tear-staining. Since it does not burn or sting, it can be put directly into the eyes without bothering the pet too much.

· Immune Booster

Colloidal silver is a wonderful holistic pet care immune system booster. It can it be used to treat a number of immune issues and just to keep low-lying pathogens out of the system. It can treat respiratory issues as well, such as asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia, using a nebulizer.

Works wonders for the following:

· Helps Heal All Types of Infections; Bacterial, Fungal, Parasitic or Viral

· Removes Plaque From Teeth With Regular Use

· Helps Heal Burns, Treating Wounds, Cuts and Scrapes

· Improve Eye Issues – Doesn't Sting or Burn

· Reduces Inflammation in Certain Cases

· Boosts Healing, Stimulates Immune System

· Protects against Pathogens

· Improves Overall Well-Being

Many people and pets have seen improvements with:

· Breakouts

· Sore Throat, Colds and Flu

· Oozing Sores

· Cystitis

· Diarrhea

· Eye and Ear Infections

· Some Types of Tumours

· Reducing Ulcers

· Cancer

· Wounds

· Help Prevent UTI --->> (It also cures it)

· Hotspots

· Feline Herpes (certain types of human herpes as well)

· Ringworm

· Candida

· Toe Nail Fungus

· Yeast Infections

The smaller the particle size of the CS is, the greater its surface area and the higher its efficiency. That's why even a concentration of 20 ppm is still much more effective than other brands which contain up to 500 ppm!

DOSAGE:

For Maintenance: Once daily

Immune-Building: 2-3 times daily.

Treating a Specific Health Condition: up to 5 times daily.

Short Term Acute Support: up to 7 times daily.

Below are some guidelines for amounts to give for treating any kind of health condition; however, colloidal silver is not dose specific. (Some other information on the internet seems to make you think it is.) When your pet is dealing with an acute condition they can have much higher doses of the silver for short term help in curing something specific, with no ill effects.

· Small Dogs, Cats:

o 2 lbs to 10 lbs - 1 tsp - or half of 10ml syringe two to three times a day for 2 weeks or more

o 11 lbs to 25 lbs - 1 1/3 tsp

· Medium Size Dogs:

o 26 lbs to 40 lbs - 2 tsp or 10 ml (one syringe) two to three times a day for 2 weeks or more

o 41 lbs to 55 lbs - 2 1/2 tsp

· Large Size Dogs:

o 56 lbs to 80 lbs - 3 tsp, two to three times a day for 2 weeks or more

o 81 lbs to 100 lbs - 3 1/2 tsp, two to three times a day for 2 weeks or more

o 101 lbs to 150 lbs - 4 tsp, two to three times a day for for 2 weeks or more

o 151 lbs to 200+ lbs - 4 tsp, (2 syringes full) two to three times a day for for 2 weeks or more

This has been known to save the lives of many pets and people who are susceptible to viruses. Even those as dangerous as parvo and all chronic low-grade inflections can be greatly disempowered by this powerful preventive, nutritive, inexpensive health supplement.

It has been proven impossible for single-celled organisms to actually mutate into silver resistant forms, as happens with allopathic antibiotics and antivirals. This is great news as it means that no tolerance to colloidal silver ever develops.

Another great point about colloidal silver is that it cannot interact or interfere with other medicine being taken, and it has no side effects.

Inside the body, silver does not create any type of toxic build up, nor does it react with anything other than a pathogen's oxygen metabolization.

Colloidal Silver is a truly safe, natural remedy for many of your pet's health concerns.

Thank you for this wonderful review. I tried everything to kill a nasty URI my cat had including Vet prescribed antibiotics and home prescribed ACV. AVC worked for my other cats who had the URI but not my little girl. It was getting serious and I was getting really worried. Then I remembered my friend gave me a bottle of homemade CS and I rushed to look it up and I found this review. I blended some tuna and CS and she ate it up. I then gave her a rub down with it. She was clearly much much better in 24 hours. She is with me now, napping on a heated blanket. I research further; I contact my friend who gave me the bottle and that led me to buy my own CS generator. I am positive that this is a God driven cure and health enhancing remedy. I truly believe that with just ACV and CS in your pantry, you and your pets can extend your lives by many years.

Colloidal silver : I used it for ear infection (3 drops from dropper) and kennel cough (5ml). Used it twice a day for 10 days. Worked like a charm & I didn't have to worry about my dog taking pharmaceutical meds with all the side effects nor the exorbitant cost the vet tried to charge me.

My dog was sick unto death, really. He would not eat or drink and had a fever. I had no idea what was wrong with him and was not able to get anything in him to treat him. I took him to the vet who diagnosed Erlichia (tick born disease) via labwork. He spend the night at the vet to get IV fluids. He took Doxycycline for 3 weeks and was back to himself after a week or so. A couple of weeks after he finished his anti-biotic his symptoms began to return. Low energy and appetite, feverish. I knew the Erlichia had returned, or more likely, had not been completely eradicated, as is common in tick borne diseases.

I tried Colloidal Silver. I gave him about 1/4 cup of a high ppm silver (I think it was about 80ppm.) in his water at least two times a day. He was completely back to normal in a few days. I kept him on that for a couple of weeks. (Longer would probably be good but I get lax when healing has occurred.)

For the record, this is a large dog, about 115 pounds. But I really didn't think I could over do it, and I didn't want to "underdo" it.

I have my own Colloidal Silver generator and use the silver for pets and people. It is absolutely worth the investment.

Erlichia and Colloidal Silver

My 110 lb dog has Erlichia. I want to treat with colloidal silver via syringe. He is very easy to give things to via syringe into the mouth. Has anyone treated this size a dog successfully and with what dosage of 10 ppm? I have my own generator and could make 20 ppm if needed. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Dear DogLover,

My dog was a similar size to yours. I was using 1/4 cup of 80 pmm silver in his water twice daily for Erlichia.

So that would end up being a cup of 20 ppm twice a day? Sounds like a lot...

I was making my own colloidal silver too. But I am guessing on the concentration. (Not a totally blind guess, but it might have been less.)

Plus, my dog didn't drink all of his water.

If your dog will take it in a syringe, you can get it into him more often.

Could you try a Tablespoon of your 20 ppm every hour during waking hours? And if that doesn't seem to be doing the trick, increase the amount?

My feeling was that I really couldn't overdose my dog on colloidal silver, but I could underdose...

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much! I have been giving him 1/2 cup of 10 ppm colloidal silver a day via syringe and he takes it like a champ. I have been dividing it into 3-4 doses per day. He is 9 years old. He is also getting Astragulas Complex. This is our 3rd day of the Colloidal Silver. He is eating well, active and wants to go on his walks. He still limps slightly when he gets up from sleeping but other than that the limp seems much less. How long would you think he should stay on the 1/2 cup daily dose of 10 ppm before dropping to the 2-4 tablespoons once a day?

Dear Dog Lover,

That is very happy news!

Astragalus is a great idea. I use that in people for tickborne diseases.

I would probably do a full week of the full dose, then the smaller maintenance dose for several weeks. You are very attentive, and I am sure you will notice changes in your dog's behavior that would indicate a need to increase the dose.

Thanks for sharing your experience and protocol. It will help others in the future!

My 5lb daschihuahua developed swelling to her lacrimal gland (teardrops) one day. I got my sprayer full of colloidal silver (10ppm) and sprayed it 3x. We went about our business and 10 mins later it was gone. I also used this sprayer for my cat's eyes if I noticed a tear trail. He takes 3 sprays directly in his face because he knew it would be good for him. They both drank it freely, too. Animals know it's good for them!

Feline Calicivirus

Posted by Griselda H. (Spain) on 07/13/2019

Hi My adored 6 year old female cat has just been diagnosed with calici virus but it is a strain that attacks the gums causing chronic very painful gingivitis til all the teeth have fallen out over years or the vet takes them all out (except the canines). But colloidal silver must destroy this virus surely!! I have bought some at 20 ppm as I see is correct for cats and I give her a tsp 3x a day . But I've read that different brands have sizes of particles and also to actually completely get rid of this virus how much should she safely have? I am also giving her plant sterols , homeopathic golden seal at 200ch and calici virus 36. But would echinacea be better instead of the goldenseal Ive read they shouldn't be taken together. How much echinacea and in which form? I will also give her vit c, q10 and pycknogenol. Thank you helping to save this desperate though far from fatal situation.

Feline Calicivirus Infection

Posted by Janine (United Kingdom) on 11/03/2021

Hi there, I rescued my female cat who has what we thought was gingivitis. She's just had tests and it turns out she has calicivirus. The vet wants to try Interferon or tooth extraction. I'm obviously very concerned about this.

I've read some of your very helpful posts regarding colloidal silver but I have a few questions. Would a teaspoon/5ml 3 x a day of sovereign silver be my best option? Is sovereign silver the brand name? I think I've found it on Amazon. Is it 100% safe? Ideally I'd like to find someone who can advise me in the UK because I'm so worried about harming her.

I would really appreciate any guidance on this. Thank you in advance, Janine

Colloidal Silver 20ppm for Canine Hot Spots

For our pup's hot spots I put some Colloidal Silver (20ppm) in a spray bottle, and sprayed it on the sore. My poor husky did not like it at first, but she settled down right afterwards. I noticed it scabbed over the very next day!

The first time she had a hot spot, we took her promptly to the vet. They treated her and had her on some meds for a while. Hundreds of dollars later, it seemed to go away...until the next season change, and then all over again. This last time is when I used the one time spray of CS. I can not say the CS cured her, but I would not hesitate to do it again. I guess we will see when the weather warms back up again.

I was thinking that the hot spots could have potentially been caused by bug bites/poison. The pups love to lay under our back deck for the shade, so I got under there and cleaned/brushed the rafters. Raked it all out, and put down some outdoor rug pieces to cover ground. They still seem to want to lay in the few uncovered parts though ;)

I also wondered if it could be from ingesting sugars. You see, I used to let her "clean up" my yogurt cups before discarding. I now see that could be a source of sugar, so only canine-specific treats from here on. We are paying more attention to listed ingredients now. She gets about 2 tsp of coconut oil, and glucosamine chews daily.

I have noticed she is starting to get a little rotund around the mid section. I am wondering if a regiment of DE/(some others) could be beneficial for jump starting her metabolism to start burning some of the excess?

Lung Issues

Posted by Joseph (Dublin, Ohio) on 01/13/2019

I just bought a silver lung generator, they say it's the best, it makes both ionic silver and true colloidal silver and makes it at 20 parts per million, I have been researching the heck out of colloidal silver could someone help me out here. Some say that the ionic silver has smaller particles and is better for a noob Eliezer or Mist machine because of small parts can get into the lungs better, others say use the true colloidal silver, the pale yellow looking kind is supposed to be better but bigger particles so I am totally lost here.

My dog has a lung infection and I do not know what to put in the nebulizer, the ionic silver with smaller particles or supposedly the better one true colloidal silver with bigger particles can someone please answer my question if they know it's been driving me crazy, also I would like to add I think this is an awesome website very helpful, thank you.

I can't get an answer, so what I do is make it 50/50 mix 50% ionic and 50% true colloidal, that is where after a batch is made, you put one drop in the Finish patch and let the spinner go for 30 minutes ,then you'll have your 50-50 mix. I guess you could say it's the best of both worlds, but in the instruction manual it tells you how to do the 50/50 mix,

good luck.

Joseph,

The smaller ionic silver is harsher (more toxic) on normal cells than colloidal silver and with a lung infection, I would prefer to be less harsh on the healthy cells so if it were my dog, I would prefer to use the yellow colloidal silver. A nebulizer delivers significantly less silver in a given period of time than an ultrasonic humidifier and if a dog's lungs are anything like human lungs, they have a very large surface area. Human lungs have a surface area roughly equivalent to a tennis court, so delivering enough silver is very important because in order for silver to neutralize pathogens, the silver particle must come in contact with the pathogen or extremely close to it.

I will try not to get too technical and keep my response as simple as possible. When using a nebulizer, you want to use ionic silver. Ionic silver particles are safe for lung intake. The smaller particles disperse into the lungs more effectively and then throughout the body via the bloodstream. Colloidal silver is needed for ingestion because the larger particle size won't break down or combine with the salts in the stomach resulting in a useless, ineffective dose. I have used both forms topically.

My regimen has reversed the onset of colon cancer for me. And has reversed a cancerous tumor in a friend's lung. His Doctors are still amazed that he has no other issues for these last 7 years now. He does "maintenance doses" to ward off any recurrences. Keep in mind that cancer can't survive in an alkaline environment, but thrives in an acidic one; so I have also changed my diet to reflect that to better assist me. After any silver ingestion, one must supplement with pre/probiotics to rebuild the gut flora properly. I have many more examples too long to write about here. I have been an avid user of silver for over 25 years now, with nothing but positive results for me, and others in my life willing to try same regimens.

Colloidal silver is such a great pet remedy. It is tasteless and easy to dose. And it has so many applications.

I don't recall if I reported a success with a young kitten of ours. She wasn't feeling well. We gave her several doses of colloidal silver and she was fine within 36 hours.

My husband noticed that our Great Pyrenees seemed lethargic. I immediately began to add large amounts of colloidal silver to his water. He was himself in 36 hours.

Pets cant tell us their tummy hurts or they have a headache. It can be hard to know what is going on. Colloidal silver fights all sorts of infections, viruses, etc.

Colloidal silver/apple cider vinegar for Herpes Virus (Chronic Upper Respiratory infection, IBD)

My cat has (had) many issues. Deemed "unadoptable" (special needs) she was in a no kill shelter for approx. 5 years. She is 8 years old. After many vet visits and hours of research online to find cures or treatment for her, I thought why not check out colloidal silver as I have used it for years on myself. I am always extremely careful with administering anything to my baby girl as she is extremely sensitive.

Her chronic Upper respiratory infection (Herpes virus) caused weekly mucous discharge from her nasal passage and a discharge from her left eye. The mucous discharge was so large and thick (size of a USB stick) she was clearly uncomfortable. She was exhibiting weekly symptoms of her URI. We knew this was the deal if we purchased her- she was after all a sick cat.

So after much research and many impressive reviews I administered one dropper of S------n Colloidal Silver around the edge of her wet food so she would lick it up. She did. After 10 days her symptoms plus crazy discharge disappeared. COMPLETELY! I was annoyed with myself I didn't try it earlier. She is spritely and chatty again. She looks like a different cat! She looks normal! My husband can't believe its the same animal. I use common sense when giving her any medication and start off slow. Even her chronic yeast infection in her ears have seemed to clear through the silver in her food. It's a remarkable difference. I also spray it on her hot spots!

I give her two nuggets of food drenched in a 50/50 mix of Apple cider vinegar mixed with water whenever she looks a bit lethargic or off color. Within a day or two she is happy again. I find these two products not negotiable in her kitty medicine cabinet. No more pharmaceuticals unless absolutely necessary. I will shout about it from the rooftops-its that good! Good luck! :) AMAZING STUFF!

My daughter noticed that one of our four month old kittens was eating grass (though it is fed plenty) and was acting quite lethargic. I wasn't sure what was wrong. The kitten's brother and our other 5 cats are all fine. The easiest thing to do was use a couple of broad spectrum natural remedies. I gave the kitten 2 droppersful of colloidal silver, internally. (Very easy to dose as it tastes nearly like water.) Then I rubbed several drops of a 50% solution of apple cider vinegar into the back of her neck. (Her fur is so silky I had to rub it in! ) I repeated this again 12 hours later.

Now the kitten appears fine.

Perhaps nothing was wrong. Perhaps it was a tummy ache. Perhaps some infection was brewing. But there is no harm in being proactive with simple to dose and safe remedies like ACV and colloidal silver.

I have been using colloidal silver now for years on my pets, my children, my grandchildren, my spouse, my friends and myself. It is the best natural antibiotic out there and can be used topically and internally.

I have older pets (17 and 18). My cat is very susceptible to UTI's and the silver is the only thing that seems to clear it up. The nice thing is that it doesn't wipe out the beneficial bacteria! There have been reports of silver "building up" in the system, however this has never been shown to be toxic. I even got my Naturopathic vet prescribing it to her "fur" clients. It has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years, however with the pharmaceutical companies shunning anything natural because of big $$$$$$ it was put on the back shelf.

For people with children, don't forget-----babies get drops of it put in their eyes at birth! I would also suggest 1/4 teaspoon 3 times a day. I fill a small syringe and administer directly into the mouth. 10ppm or 20ppm seems to work well.

Hi, my cat has Kidney failure and recently he has high white cells counts and my vet thinks he ha Kidney infection. He prescribed antibiotic for it but I am afraid to use it because the kidneys are so week. I am giving him herbal formula for Kidney infection and colloidal silver as a natural antibiotic. I have sovereign colloidal silver, the company says I can give him 2 dropersfull 5 times a day. Is is a safe dosage? Will it damage my cats Kidney more?is it OK to use with other supplements like herbal formulas? I am putting it in bone broth so he likes it . is It ok?

Dear Barbara,

I think the amount you wish to use and adding it to broth both sound fine. We have used large amounts of colloidal silver for our pets with only good results. I hope you find the same for yours!
