How can I use Borax to treat Fleas in Dogs and cats? Bathing? I would do love to know as I do not like to use the horrible and very toxic over the counter Flea treatments sold in Pet shops. My cat had a major reaction to the spot on neck treatment which burnt his skin where I had applied it.. days later the patch of hair had fallen out. I have 2 American Bulldogs with active Fleas and would love to also prevent the flea eggs from hatching and stopping the cycle

Is the protocol safe using 20 mule team borax? What is the directions for adult cats, to give them in their drinking water? I can't find where I read that. Thank you for giving me hope.

I'm sorry, but mixing it up in a jug of water, storing it in the fridge and sipping on thru the day sounds like yet another chore, and not very portable. It's fine to consume over an hour or two.. I simply take a small pinch(approx 1/8 tsp and mix it in my water bottle in the morning, give it a shake, shake, shake, and then consume this one bottle over the next couple of hours and it's done for the day. If I miss more than 2 or maybe 3 days, my arthritis symptoms come right back! I do not miss very often. I do Ted's recommendation and use for 6 days on and 1 day off.
For a small Yorkie, I would use 1/8 tsp in his water bowl every morning. I bet it will really help your dog.

Borax for Pets and Easier oOral Dosing for People?
Trying to give a litre of water to a pet is difficult! Sipping a litre throughout the day and being consistent for a human is difficult. So I figured... greater concentration in the litre bottle combined with less frequent but greater 'sips' might work.
Starting with Walter Last's 1 teaspoon Borax in a litre of (distilled) water, of which we know that 1 teaspoon gives 3 mg Boron.
Therefore 18 teaspoons would give you 56mg Boron.
Divide this 18 teaspoons into 6 teaspoons 3 times a day. (Giving 18.66mg Boron per dose) (Also the litre doesn't have to be made up every day)
This would be manageable to give to a dog or for a female human (double the dose for a male). (4 or 5 days a week?)
Can anyone see a problem with this, please? Or has anyone tried this way? I understand it's horses for courses (pardon the pun) but topical application with DMSO is difficult on a very hairy dog!

Hello wanted to ask if you were aware of a change in the color of your urine when you started the borax dosing?

Borax 'all in one go' dosing for pets
People speak of adding 'a pinch' of borax to their pet's food and the dosage from Ted is 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon added to a litre of water. Given that a dog or cat might drink a bowl full of water or half or whatever, is it OK for them to drink the whole (or half) daily dose in one sitting? (This is very different to a human sipping throughout the day or taking 3mg twice a day)

Can dogs take borax? I have a small dog that has IVDD and his disc is putting pressure on a nerve. From what I can tell this is because of calcification of the lining of the disc that ruptured and is stabbing the nerve. I know borax breaks down calcium deposits. Do you have a dosage for a 14 pound dog if they can take it?

According to Rex Newnham/Walter Last it's 1/8 teaspoon of borax per 100 lbs. So to get the proper dose for a 14 lb dog, one might dissolve the 1/8 teaspoon into 1 cup of water and then only add 2 tablespoons of the dilution to the dog's water. Or just add a pinch once or twice a day if that's too laborious.

I hope someone can help me out.
My lovely little cat of age 20 years unforunately has arthritis. Her weight is 2.5 kilograms.
Is Borax in this stage still effective?
And which doses can I give to her, if effective?

Hi, do you dilute the solution anymore? I see a lot of people take 1tsp of the solution and add to their water. I wasn't sure if this was extra diluted so it could be drank as is or if it needs additional dilution. Thanks!

Look for The Borax Protocol on the Internet. It will give you the correct information.

I totally agree with you, mixing the borax in water, storing it in the fridge is yet another chore. Quite a few years ago I did this, then stopped and began taking one small capsule of boron (3 mg) a day, until very recently. I've suffered with pain in my hips and lower back for some time, and it is worsening, and did think the boron is not working. However, I've had an MRI scan done, and they did not discover any arthritis, so the boron must have protected me, and I'm back on the 3mg boron a day. I wish I could discover what is causing the pain in my lower back and thighs though.
