Borax for Pets and Easier oOral Dosing for People?
Trying to give a litre of water to a pet is difficult! Sipping a litre throughout the day and being consistent for a human is difficult. So I figured... greater concentration in the litre bottle combined with less frequent but greater 'sips' might work.
Starting with Walter Last's 1 teaspoon Borax in a litre of (distilled) water, of which we know that 1 teaspoon gives 3 mg Boron.
Therefore 18 teaspoons would give you 56mg Boron.
Divide this 18 teaspoons into 6 teaspoons 3 times a day. (Giving 18.66mg Boron per dose) (Also the litre doesn't have to be made up every day)
This would be manageable to give to a dog or for a female human (double the dose for a male). (4 or 5 days a week?)
Can anyone see a problem with this, please? Or has anyone tried this way? I understand it's horses for courses (pardon the pun) but topical application with DMSO is difficult on a very hairy dog!
People speak of adding 'a pinch' of borax to their pet's food and the dosage from Ted is 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon added to a litre of water. Given that a dog or cat might drink a bowl full of water or half or whatever, is it OK for them to drink the whole (or half) daily dose in one sitting? (This is very different to a human sipping throughout the day or taking 3mg twice a day)

Give your dog alfalfa tablets or capsules. 3 for a big dog, 1 for small. It helps tremendously with arthritis in dogs! I've helped many a German shepherd to walk and run and jump again!
I am wondering if you ever started your dog on borax and if you did, what exactly you used and what dosage you used. And I'm also curious what effect it had on your pet.
Can you possibly tell me if you have increased the dose? In your post you said you gave 10 mg to begin with so I'm wondering if you decided to increase it at some point. If you did increase it, what did you increase the dosage to?
Hi, do you dilute the solution anymore? I see a lot of people take 1tsp of the solution and add to their water. I wasn't sure if this was extra diluted so it could be drank as is or if it needs additional dilution. Thanks!
I absolutely LOVE this post. Truer words have never been written. We gotta do better if we are to beat big medicine at their game. These are the remedies of our ancestors. Someone took a chance, did the research & applied common sense. We have become mindless slaves to big medicine. We say we don't want to take a pill but the instant someone recommends an alternative home remedy we shun them & call them a QuackaDoodle. Yet none of us have a clue about what pharmaceutical companies are really packing in those plastic capsules...Chemicals & byproducts of even more dangerous chemicals. If the junk inside the plastic capsule was so great...why are you here? They will write you a rx for xyz but NEVER ask, "What are you eating? Do you exercise? How about fresh air?" NO ONE ever died of healthy positive living. Common sense is priceless...if you or your family member(pets included) is unwell do the research. Read very old medical books(before 1900 if possible), old Farmer's Almanacs or talk to old Veterinarians or ex field medics. Do missionary work, they make do w/ limited resources. Listen to your inner voice...if you learn about a new home remedy, research then introduce SLOWLY. Make a written log of what you are doing & be very aware of the changes your body is experiencing. Remember not every side effect is a bad thing. The crap gotta escape somehow. We got ourselves into this mess by blindly trusting people we thought had our best interests at heart. It's your body, your responsibility, So listen to it! ***Home remedies do not replace all medical problems. Seek care whenever life is threatened but never be afraid to ask questions. Be Well, Everyone.
Yes, you are missing something. In fact, if you believe your top 4 or 5 google results and look no further, that's on you and you're missing alot. Did you even read the borax/arthritis posts on E.C.? Placed here by those of us who have experienced significant and real results after using it? Did your google search tell you that borax is simply a salt mined from dried up salt-lake beds? I mean, c'mon, ya gotta try harder than that. I use borax for múltiple things and I make sure to put a pinch of it in my water daily, 'cause if I don't, my arthritis symptoms come right back. I'm sorry that you didn't bother to look further into it and did not believe and/or read our posts on it. Good luck.

How can I use Borax to treat Fleas in Dogs and cats? Bathing? I would do love to know as I do not like to use the horrible and very toxic over the counter Flea treatments sold in Pet shops. My cat had a major reaction to the spot on neck treatment which burnt his skin where I had applied it.. days later the patch of hair had fallen out. I have 2 American Bulldogs with active Fleas and would love to also prevent the flea eggs from hatching and stopping the cycle

Arthritis treatment for an elderly little dog
Hi, My little dog has had two ACL operations and is now showing signs of Arthritis. I see that Borax works well for arthritis, she weighs about 6 kilos, about 13 pounds am open to any remedies to give her quality of life.

I give my giant schnauzer a tiny pinch of borax in his food every day . 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with chronic arthritis, he whimpered every time he got up, walked with a limp. Now he runs around like a puppy, no pain, no limp - he is 11 years old. (i also give him turmeric and black pepper, so it is hard to know which is working the best, but he has had no side effects)
I would have that dog on MMS as soon as possible. I am just getting started with the Borax remedies, but MMS is very good at cleaning up the blood stream and destroying parasites and many other toxins for removal from the system. My elderly lab would be long gone years ago if not for MMS/DMSO after a decade of tickborne illness, misdiagnoses, and harsh antibiotic prescriptions from the hot shot vets that left him blind, deaf, and brain damaged.
Go here for an excellent group that can help you get going.
Borax in small containers of water will kill household pests like roaches, spiders, and etc. I would not use it on an animal. I have used Organic Food Grade Diatamaceous Earth with great success. (DiatamaciousEarth.com) I gave a totally flea-covered calico who adopted us a dry bath with it (being careful around her eyes.) Then I put some in her wet food. Doing these killed the fleas on the outside and inside. She totally recovered and was with us for many years. She never again had a problem with fleas. It can also be shaken in a bag with dry pet food.DE is 95% silica I also daily take a tblsp. mixed in one glass of Organic Low Sodium Chicken Bone Broth (high in protein and collagen! ) Aldi store has a good inexpensive brand.
Hi Hollyhock. I always use DMSO straight, however, I always always always use a layer of oil first; for me its Castor Oil. Lemme tell ya, I used it straight on my sore knees two days in a row, and lived to regret it as it is harsh on the skin. I had to kiss-up to that skin for a few days to make up for it, finally healing it back to normal with aveeno. So I have never forgotten since then! Olive oil and coconut have stood in for Castor oil a few times and work also. Ya don't have to slather it on, just a nice thin coating will do. And the amazing thing I noticed about DMSO was that, unlike a pain pill, I never noticed the pain leaving; it would be about 1/2 hr later when I'd be like "oh, the pain is gone". As to my healing time (6 months'ish) is that I had been warned I'd be feeling pain soon by a chiropractor, so when I felt the annoying toothache-like pain in my discs, I started the DMSO right away! Heal quickly, Hollyhock!
Katzie, did you dilute the dmso or use it straight? I have 3 herniated discs. I've used diluted dmso for years, if I use it straight it leaves blisters. But it's never healed my discs. You are very lucky to be out of pain! :)
Kristain, I would start using DMSO on her. It helped and healedy two crushed discs after 6 months of use. Please read the threads here on this site about it. On a cellular level DMSO has been studied and shown to correct DNA back to its intended function. Eg. I haven't had to use DMSO on my discs in 3 yrs, because it healed it; so it was a cure, not a treatment. For your dog I would use no more than 1/8 tsp in 1 litre of water, refrigerate it in a bottle and give her a steady supply. It's what I have always used for dogs anyways. Best of luck to you and your sweetie.

Can dogs take borax? I have a small dog that has IVDD and his disc is putting pressure on a nerve. From what I can tell this is because of calcification of the lining of the disc that ruptured and is stabbing the nerve. I know borax breaks down calcium deposits. Do you have a dosage for a 14 pound dog if they can take it?

Hi Deana, I got rid of arthritis by using the boron and organic sulfur. I actually mix both in a jar of distilled water and a pinch of Celtic salt. I put about a teaspoon daily in my morning coffee. For a while I also took boswellia to help rid body of inflammation. It takes time to be where you want to be but I noticed one day that a "twenty yr old" knuckle had actually returned to almost perfect size again! Hope this helps
Boric acid and borax are not exactly the same things, although they are related and share some similarities.
Boric acid (hydrogen borate H3BO3), is a white crystalline compound that is derived from boron mineral deposits. It is a weak acid.
On the other hand, borax, also known as sodium borate (Na2B4O7·10H2O), is a mineral compound that contains boron, sodium, and water molecules. Borax is a naturally occurring substance that is mined from evaporite deposits.
Hi Sarah, Can you please tell me your protocol used for clearing up your arthritis. I have it in my hands and I am a nurse. Cannot make closed fists anymore. Want to start this ASAP. Thank you!
I have the same question. I have used borax myself for a few years and it completely took away my arthritis. My cat has hip dysplasia and it can lead to arthritis. I hope someone knows the answer.

Is the protocol safe using 20 mule team borax? What is the directions for adult cats, to give them in their drinking water? I can't find where I read that. Thank you for giving me hope.
Hello how much borax do you put in the water for your dogs? I have 2 large dog's 1 Rottweiler that's been very ill he has torn ACL right now and I believe has cancer has surgery in 2 weeks for acl and our lab/springer is pretty healthy but am concerned about our water where we live very high levels of manganese and obviously fluoride and we were also told Plastics 😳! So what amount would I put in the water? And would anything help my Rottweiler (Chopper) with his torn ACL? I know it helps with arthritis but does it help with maybe the ACL? Thank you in advance I know this is an old thread hopefully you will see this!
I have a bordeaux who is now 10,3 yrs ago her hip went. Out the blue she was in excruciating pain it was heart breaking I thought my dog can't cope with this pain. The painkiller off the vets wasn't touching it. She couldn't get up 1 stair and sleeps on my bed so I had to stay downstairs with her she couldn't find a position that eased her pain, she never slept for 3 days she just stood panting it was so bad. Then I remembered Boron which I take myself daily and gave her 10 mg Boron caps daily to begin with and it was a miraculous result within 2wks she was in less pain and it got better every day. You still couldn't touch her back without a yelp but wow I was amazed.
That was 3yrs ago and she is 10 now, still sleeps on my bed every night jumps up. She has no problem touching her hips no pain and she will run round chasing squirrel's anytime. I was so amazed at how effective it is I saw it.
My grandmother raised kittens for 40 years and when they would get guppy eyes she would mix up the boric acid ( 1 tbls to a pint of warm water ), which she keep on hand in the cupboard, she'd wipe out their eyes numerous time in the day she used it for years with NO side effects to the kittens or us if we had something in our eyes that needed to be washed out

No, they are not the same. Boric acid is created from the mixture of borax with other naturally occurring minerals such as boracite and colemanite. God only knows what those two minerals are and what type of chemical reaction would happen in the process of combining them together. My dogs will never be subjected to it. This information comes from the 20 Mule Team site.
Boric acid and Borax are the same thing, BUT boric acid is ground into powder, whereas Borax is more coarse. So it can't be measured the same. Both Borax and Boric Acid are used in eye washes and contact solution. So dangerous ha ha. You would get a lot more boric acid if you tried measuring it the same. Just like you get a stronger cup of coffee, if it is ground into powder. Stick with Borax, and you will know the correct measurements.
I've noticed everyone on the internet who says Borax is dangerous is trying to sell something. Also, what could be more dangerous than the poisons in flea and tick control products.

For tick born bacteria, I mixed liquid garlic extract, apple cider vinager and colloidal silver (no specific amounts) to kill the bacteria after my senior dog showed signs of dementia and slight paralysis. I found a tick on him and after removal, I continued to give the colloidal mixture every hour and within hours, he showed tremendous improvement! I have used this three times in four yesrs. For worms, I add Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade to his food.

Give one organic raw egg per meal 🥚 Which is the full amino acid spectrum and naturally detoxes & absolutely use the borax in your pets water !!! Very sorry to hear about your dog however it can be reversed... you can do this Kira!
Hi, I'm just wondering if borax can be used to tackle blood parasites caused by ticks? My dog is presently on IV fighting for her life after contracting the E. Canis parasite from a tick. It wasn't picked up in the initial blood test they did, now it's in the critical advanced stages. She is lame and her body has developed large lumps where the parasites are literally eating her alive. The doxycylin is yet to make any improvement, any chance I could try borax?..Or any other ideas? Many thanks.

Theresa's interest in pet health started with a bird keeping hobby at age 14, where she learned from another hobbyist that the simple addition of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) in a bird's drinking water kept fungal infections away; she was able to share this with her avian vet who in turn prescribed it to her own clients; Theresa was surprised to learn that she could teach her vet a thing or two. This important lesson - that each of us can be a teacher - was a turning point for Theresa, and fueled her quest for the knowledge held in lore, and remedies passed by word of mouth. Borax is a type of salt. You can bathe your cat in it if you so wish. I use it all the time for bathing my dogs and they splash and my cats have walked through it without harm. I do use Ted's Borax protocol for dogs now and then and so my cats drink the same spiked water as the dogs and myself. If for some reason your cat were to ingest a goodly amount it might get loose stools; licking off the feet here or there should not do that.
HI I see someone asked if safe for cats but no reply; I use it as a cleaner and would really like to know if they walk on it or lick it they will not die!! Please respond..appreciate thank you

Borax Demodectic Mange Remedy for Skin Allergies
Any fears I had about Borax injuring my dog are eliminated after using this miracle treatment!
My 4.5 yr old Old English Sheepdog, Bentley, had been cranky and full of itchy skin since we got him at 9wks old. He's had multiple vet visits, being prescribed antibiotics and antibiotic ointment, and skin scrapings with no relief. His resting respirations would be very rapid and he was very aggressive and annoyed. He hated me grooming him and would require a muzzle, though I tried to be easy, any brush stroke or clipper pass would be uncomfortable for him. I had heard BORAX was bad for you and didn't want to further injure my dog, BUT THIS SOLUTION HAS CHANGED HIM!
He now after 2 treatments has a slower resting respiration rate (not laying in constant torture of being bit all the time, totally brushable fur—with a fine tooth comb—without a muzzle (never been done before- OBVIOUS SKIN HEALING! )
I'm sorry it took so long to find this remedy for my poor miserable doggy!
I add water to my dog's food - could I add the borax to this rather than the water bowl? She has several water sources but in her food I know how much she is ingesting each day.
I have a 10 yr old boxer. I put a very small amount of borax in "our" bottled drinking water (He got sick from tap water $177 vet bill). Cheaper to give him bottled water. After 3 months he and I are doing better. So there you have it from two old bachelors. Parts are starting to work better. We don't look at the stairs and then look at each other, we just climb them.
Small amounts are required in dogs and humans.. many people supplement this daily.. and the laundry borax is very commonly used.. it is a naturally mined mineral.. in large amounts it's an ant killer..huge amount of information online.. very beneficial to arthritis.. very popular
Borax is the only safe element which a very small amount will interact with Fluoride and NEUTRALIZE IT. Why Fluoride is in are drinking water, who knows. Fluoride was NEVER SAFE for human consumption ever..... Read the warning on YOUR tube of fluoride toothpaste. "swallow ONE drop" "call poison control" I use Borax as part of water filtering process. They are adding chemicals in bottled water now. I couldn't find Absopure. and decided I'll just do my own.. and Fluoride free. Recipe on you tube

I have been using borax for years to fight fleas on our pets. My wife and I use it all the time. We even started a webiste about 5 years ago, to help others.
Borax is very good for animals and humans alike in the right dose. It does help arthritis - joint problems. One word of CAUTION! I started taking a very small amount diluted in water ( 1 tbsp per gallon water) I took 1 tsp of water a day. Being 2 years into menopause, no periods, I had a "period from hell". It does affect your hormones. I stopped taking it. Will wait a year and try again.
http://www.three-little-pitties.com/dog-mucus.html... Here is a web site I use and is very safe all around, I have healed a very sick dog almost close to death is now running an playing. This site is trust worthy.
I have used Borax in my RO water at a rate if 1/8 teaspoon per gallon and also add a pinch of grey salt. In my entire immediate family, there are 19 canines and 5 cats. All of them have been drinking this water for 21 months and we have not had any issues.
In fact, our older dogs seem to move less painfully. Hope this helps :)
