Art,

How do you measure 500 mg of hyaluronic acid? What's the conversion? Teaspoons? Weight? I tried to search it, but thought it quicker to ask you. Thanks for any information you can provide.

I measured a level 1/4 tsp at 370 mg. So, 3/8 tsp will be about 555 mg. That should be close enough. The measurement doesn't have to be exact.

Hello Deirdre,

I am thrilled that you are achieving some success with your pain control-that's great to hear. I trust that you will give this new trick of yours sufficient time to prove itself one way or the other! Such initial, rapid results are impressive!

I do wonder though why you stopped using the DMSO and Borax Protocol, as I thought you were experiencing great benefit from it and that it was your own special discovery!?

I have trouble locating 20 Mule Team Borax over here (or any Borax for that matter). However, I sent away to the States for the DMSO but have so far been too nervous to use it on my sore joints and muscles. I had thought that it could be useful in specifically targeting the narrow/tight spots where the tendons attach themselves (Tendonitis) to the scapula area but I worry how the DMSO works. Does it ONLY target the things that shouldn't be inside the body or is there any risk at all that it could adversely affect important things such as the cartilage for instance? Does it target the nasty bio-films and micro-plasma or something else? Where is the science? It would be nice to think that it could reverse calcification of muscles! Does it?

How does it know what to "melt" and what not to "melt" and presumably flush out of the system? Is it really that "smart"?

I don't wish to be an alarmist - just exercising "An Abundance of Caution" really!

Any thoughts and recommendations would be sincerely appreciated, especially as you have had recent personal experience with using it on yourself.

Cheers from Down Under (where it is getting positively chilly in the hills these days! ).

P.S. I would also welcome comments from Art, MTM, ORH and (Philippines) Bill et al obviously, if they should feel so inclined. Thanks again!

Hi. I was going to try this formula, but am confused about the HA. Do you mean that you use 1/2 teaspoon of HA powder? Because it says liquid… I was thinking it was the powder, and had mixed this with the 16 ox of distilled water and the salt. Mixture was pretty thick … then I reread this again and you keep saying HA liquid?

Hi Maria,

I just read your post and it interested me, as a very good friend of mine suffers from the same problem of herniated disc but also drying out of his lumbar discs. He suffers mostly at night, waking up in pain, hard to turn over and getting up in the morning. He stays stiff for an hour usually, and does not loosen up until he has had his 2 to 3 km walk. Daytime not quite so painful until evenings or sitting for long time. Sciatic nerve is compressed.

Does that sound familiar? I would dearly like to know if you are getting improving results from your treatment regime and if you have changed it in any way. Hoping to hear good news from you. Thank you. Michael

For some inexplicable reason, I didn't see your replies from last year until today. I wanted to say thank you for your help. Since my last post, I've developed DDD and lumbar spondylosis in addition to the osteoarthritis in my left hip. I've tried a variety of things but Niacinamide has helped my leg pain from the OA the most (been on it for 2 weeks now, using Dr. William Kauffman's research and protocol found on Doctor Yourself dot com. The DDD is actually more painful now. I'm about to begin the HA capsules, and have the powder on order as well. Thank you for your advice!

Yes, that is correct, take the HA with food. Apply the Stopain as needed until no longer needed.

Hi Art, and everyone else commenting.

I've read several threads because recent MRI shows my pain is from bulging disks. I'm 42 and very flexible, movement is important to me, I am young-seeming for my age, so this is a bummer. Going to PT and chiropractic and want to add the HA remedy, I think I'll start will the capsules (thank you, Art). I read somewhere here - I think - that I should not also do boron / borax remedies at the same time. I can no longer find that, so my question is whether there was a contraindication to do the borax at the same time? (I was going to start it for other, general health benefits, and since there's a little arthritis in my cervical vertebrae figured it's time to start).

Also - when taking the HA capsules, should we follow the 5 days on and 2 days off schedule, or just go for it for a few weeks? Thank you so much for your contributions here. I feel hopeful! Stuff has been weird in my neck since March 2023, and then increased in pain since October 2023 - ready for a health jump in February 2024! :)

Hi Art,

(I just submitted a reply but forgot to login, hopefully that still appears). So grateful, a question : any input on a supplement that has glucosamine, chondroitin MSM and HA? I can send more details.

Originally I came to ask if it was ok to take the HA capsules you recommended while taking borax/boron solution (the dissolved and taken little quantities of the liquid version of the remedy). I thought I read somewhere in all the threads that I shouldn't overlap them but now I'm not sure if I imagined that.

I hope my original reply posts, because I shared more, but most important: SO GRATEFUL for all these posts and all the support on here. <3 <3

Thank you, Art, for your reply. One more question and hopefully the last one for a while - have you ever known anyone whose pain increased when they increased the borax? Or am I just a quirk of nature in that way? I've read some first-hand accounts of people who say the same thing but that after a few days of worsening pain, all calms down to the point of very little or no pain. I've been on it since early February, gradually increasing to the max recommended dose. Just wondered what your experience has been. Thank you!

Thank you, Art, for your insight. I tried the capsule supplement of HA but wasn't thrilled with some of the “extra” ingredients. I'll continue using the liquid HA/sea salt plus the borax and maybe by July I can report even less pain.

When I take it, I have about a half a teaspoon of dead sea salt in refrigerated spring water and drink that after swallowing a NOW capsule. Three of those a day. I don't know if the capsule will turn to gel taken that way. I tried putting one in the water but it did not seem to dissolve. That's why I was thinking of taking the liquid. At this point, I should give it two weeks first before considering switching.

Right, there is vit. C in the mixture, to act as a preservative. It is a small amount, equaling about 250 mg. Per dose. This dosing info is from Purebulk website, where they tell how to mix it. Go to the site, pull up "hyaluronic Acid" and just read their info. On there. Very enlightening, indeed. But according to the Dr. Who wrote "How to live 100 years without Growing" , Vit. C in the body reacts with any unbound iron that may be in the body to break down HA by becoming a "pro" oxidant, vs. The antioxidant we all understand Vit. C to be. He confirmed (in an email to me) that taking bioflavinoids like Quercetin (which is an iron-binder) will keep this from happening, thus allowing you to reap the benefits of HA AND vit. C at the same time. That's what his book teaches, anyway. And I emailed him to ask him again just to be sure. Just read the book for yourself to glean your own info and understanding of what he explains. The info I gave was what I took away from the book, though, and I have added quercetin to my own supplement regimen. Don't take my word for it, read for yourself, it's always good to come to your own conclusions. For the Dr's website who wrote "... Live 100 Years... ", type in keywords Bill Sardi, and you will find ample info on him and his books. Fascinating guy.

I want to take Ted's remedy for herniated discs. The dose for the HA is 500 mgs. I don't have a scale to measure. Can some tell me how much HA to use in kitchen measurements? Can it be an approximation? TIA

I made up Ted's remedy with no problem. My question is about the amount of salt. Why is salt needed? I seem to be sensitive to high sodium levels and would like to use less if the remedy would still be as effective. Thank you, Colleen

Hello Deirdre, is it normal to have little bits and pieces of HA film floating around in the solution? It has been sitting in the refrigerator for 24 hours, but has not completely dissolved. How dissolved does it need to be? Is it better to use hot water to dissolve? Also, can this solution, HA and salt, be taken with coffee, or with other supplements such as magnesium and/or L-glutamine powder? Thank you!

I have bone spurs in my neck, thorasic and lower lumbar area. My whole spine aches. Sometimes I have numbness and pain in both arms, to include pain in the xyfoid area of my left side of my chest. It mainly happens during or after using a riding mower or tiling a small garden area. Then sometimes it seems to flair up on it's own. Will this formula help also? Thank you, for listening . My age is 63yo, male wt is 240lbs . At present I have been under chiropractic care. Being seen 2 times a week. I am still working for myself. I do daily janitorial work. Mopping floors, buffing etc. I am taking serrapertase and using the tens machine daily. I am a diabetic x10yrs or more. And I have been diagnosed with neuropathy in both feet.

Hi,

Can you please recommend some quality Hyaluronic acid to purchase. Which type of HA is best and which molecular weight?

Also, should it be just Hyaluronic acid without anything else in the capsule? Many have other things added together with the HA in the capsules.

Hi Art! Well after being on the borax since February and gradually working my way up to 1/8 tsp for the month of May, I can state that things are better but still my pain level isn't where I'd like it to be. So I decided to give the liquid hyaluronic acid & sea salt a try, in addition to the daily borax. I’m also applying the Stopain roll on rwo to three times a day. My version of Ted’s remedy is 16 oz distilled water, 1/8 tsp salt (the original recipe was too much for me) and 1-1/2 tsp liquid hyaluronic acid. I eased into it by drinking a single glass the first day, two glasses the next two days, and today am drinking three glasses. My pain level is noticeably improved already after just these few days. My question this go round is how long should I use it? I understand that it may take two to three weeks to mostly - if not totally - eliminate my pain, but should I continue using it beyond that point? I'm just happy to have less pain, but of course, none is the ultimate goal. Thank you! Betsy

Dano, it depends on which brand you are using, and if it is just HA, or has something like msm mixed into it, which would make your measurement different than if just HA. Purebulk, the brand I use, is, I believe, 3.56 grams (3560 mg) per 2 teaspoons. So, I break that down into approx. 1/7 of that dose, or 1/3 teaspoon. It's a little more (593 mg. ), but it doesn't make any difference, it's close enough. Be VERY sure you dissolve it in fridge temp. Water, NOT room temp water.

Hyaluronic Acid and Sea Salt

Gave this to my dad for almost a month. It's a thin liquid but not gel like, and not like water either, more like a mucous. No changes in mri. Will try to dilute the solution and and increase dose to see if that helps. To confirm, we're basically using room temp water in the recipe, right?

Not sure if Ted or anyone will see this 2 years later but I am hoping so. My husband was recently diagnosed with DDD and has been suffering from a lot of excruciating pain and lack of sleep for months now.

I have purchased some liquid HA from my organic grocer to just get him going but would like to know where I can get ahold of the powder form is in this recipe.

If anyone can let me know where I can find that it would be greatly appreciated as I have not had any luck so far.

Thank you!

Art, I just started taking the NOW 100 mg double strength yesterday (thank you). I am concerned about the powder turning into a gel and thinking I would not have that concern with the NOW liquid. What do you think? Have you ever tried the liquid? Earl Kielley recommended liquid in this forum. He recommended just 1/2 a teaspoon a day, though, whereas the NOW liquid recommends three tablespoon a day. I'd reply to his comment, but he posted it seven years ago.

Hyaluronic Acid and Sea Salt
Posted by HD (NC) on 07/07/2024

Art, I am not using the Stopain because I do not have enough pain to warrant it. There's some burning when I am bed in my left leg from probably sciatica but it goes from annoying to gone sometimes depending on how I position myself. I have had some bouts of lower back issues with stiffness making it hard to move but only at times and I have had stiffness in the neck and shoulders since 1977. None of the above is what I think of as pain, though. I am 70 years old and of course don't want things to worsen.

To : Lisa from Lafayette

Is half hour before meal or one hour after meal fit the definition of empty stomach ?

Hyaluronic Acid and Sea Salt
Posted by Lisa (Lafayette, La) on 09/15/2010

Peter, that sounds fine to me. We usually take our morning dose right before breakfast (maybe 15-30 min) and the evening dose right before bed (we eat kind of late). My husband takes his mid day dose a couple hours after lunch, but I'm sure one hour after food would be fine. Good luck! By the way, my mom has been on it for 1 week, Purebulk's thicker recipe, 150 mg. Daily, and she said she can mow her back AND front yard now without getting tired at all. Before, she had to take a nap right after mowing (she's 76! ). She also said an excruciating knee problem has been cut down to 1/2, and is getting better daily. Did I tell you I get my HA powder from Ted's source, Purebulk? It's cheap, the molecular weight is medium (you simply can't find any low molecular weight HA in powder form ANYWHERE! ) and it's pure. So easy to use. Our first bottles, though, we used an HA powdered capsule that I just opened up and dumped into the bottle (10 of them at 50 mg. Each). More expensive that way.
