Well, after recently recommending that someone should use pH test strips, I thought to check my own pH this morning. I was excited to see that it was about 6.5, which I believe was a great number for the morning, especially when I had had coffee. Then I realized that perhaps the pH was good because I had been drinking an alkalizing drink yesterday, and have been for days, since I discovered a new recipe. I thought I ought to share my recipe. This is really helping me to stay hydrated in the heat because it is so delicious that I drink a lot of it!
Lime Alkalizing Drink
- About 8 fresh basil leaves
- 1/4-1/2 cup of lime juice (I have bottles of organic lime juice that I am using for this. I don't measure, this is a range I think I am using.)
- 1/2 gallon of water
- 15 drops of Stevia
- Put basil leaves in the bottom of a glass jar. Pour lime juice over leaves. Use the end of a wooden spoon to bruise the basil leaves in the juice. Add water. Add Stevia. Refrigerate. Drink as desired.
Fresh basil is my second favorite thing about summer. (Fresh tomatoes are my first.)
Basil is easy to grow and can be easily grown in a container on a porch or maybe even in a sunny window.
