I've had low body temp for 10 years - ever since I had a benign tumor removed from my pituitary. My "normal" temp is 96.2 - 96.7. 2 full degrees below normal. I've tried many things - sauna (purchased my own), iodine, vitamins / minerals, various herbs, GAPS diet, etc. The only thing that really helped was iodine but it was always temporary and might add a degree at best.
I happened upon a book by Anthony Williams called Medical Medium Cleanse To Heal. I decided I wanted to cleanse my liver for reasons other than my temperature. Honestly I've given up trying to correct it so I rarely think about it except when I get cold in conditions where I shouldn't be cold. Anyway, he often referred to juicing celery at the start of his book so I decided to begin with that while I continue to read it. That was 7 days ago that I started.
3 days ago I noticed I was feeling really warm all day. Decided to take my temperature and it's 98.6, three days in a row. I've never approached 98.6 except after sitting in a hot tub for 30 minutes. Then it goes away within an hour. I'm cautiously optimistic and very excited.
I have not changed my diet - the only thing I've done is juice a full bunch of celery every morning on an empty stomach. It's important not to add ANYTHING to the celery juice, and it needs to be juiced not blended. An immediate benefit I'm noticing is I don't feel tired. It's been so long since I haven't been chronically tired.
How long did you have low temp before trying this. And how long did it take to work? Thanks
Iodine, Tyrosine, Selenium, Iron
My sister had very low body temperature (about 35.3oC), very cold hands and feet, felt cold all the time, she started taking Tyrosine, Iodine, Selenium and plant-iron, and now is much warmer (36.7).
Here how increased her temperature,
- Tyrosine 750mg x2 daily (morning and afternoon) (1,500mg total /day)
- iosol Iodine drops. 3-7 drops per day (in the morning) /day.
- Selenium, 200mcg /day.
- Garden of Life plant-iron. 1-3 capsules per day.(might have molasses when runs out, avoid regular iron supplements. Rainbow light plant-iron or Garden of life iron are the only 2 good ones I know of.)
Low iron can cause low body temperature and also block thyroid function when iron levels are low.
But check you are indeed low in iron before taking iron because you don't need it if you are not low in it.
Selenium is very important to take when taking iodine. It is such a wonderful nutrient.

I have been using coconut oil for a week now and I feel less cold. I have more energy and am full all the time, so less cravings. I purchased Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil from Vitamin Shoppe. I love the taste and have replaced vegetable oil in cooking with CO. Also I have 1 tsp in the morning and sometimes 1 in the evening. It is a wonderful find to protect myself against cold. Just take care of eliminating your other fat/carbs in your diet, else it is likely to make you gain weight.
Yes, it happened to me today. My temperature is usually at 97.6 (not good, I know). I was feeling decent and was in a good mood. I walked around the house for a bit and tried on a couple of outfits and suddenly my eyes started to feel heavy, my dark circles got worse, my legs started to hurt and my body temp went down to 96. I'm going to try the coconut oil treatment. I rarely can exercise because I get so tired for the rest of the week.
Today I worked in the yard for an hour digging and weeding in the hot sun (very hot day), and upon taking my temperature afterwards it was 93.5 under the arm. I also feel unwell afterwards. Isn't temperature supposed to go up in hot weather? Has anyone else had the same experience?
Yesterday after a vigorous bike ride my temperature dropped to 92 degrees, taken with two different thermometers. After awhile it went back up slowly to 98.3. My temperature is normal otherwise, even first thing in the morning. I am curious to see if anyone else has a severe drop in temperature after hard exercise.
I wanted to add some information about raw coconut oil and low body temperature. I've successfully used it to help raise my body temperature. Although I do use it in my cooking, I also put it in my nose, tilt my head back and let it drain into my sinuses and throat. I then add some to each ear. I do this before bed and I seem to sleep better and my body temperature stays higher than it was. I also use it on my skin after my shower at night.
I've noticed that eating it is good, but doing this protocol regularly helps to keep my energy levels up without having to ingest it regularly and my feet and hands are no longer cold. By usiing it on the skin or in the nose and ears, it is still being absorbed transdermally but going immediately into your blood stream without having to be processed by the liver. If your liver is congested, ingesting it won't bring the same benefits as transdermal absorption does.
Also, adding good bacteria in the form of fermented foods such as Kombucha, raw organic kefir, raw organic honey, etc. will help to keep the inflammation at bay!
