One of the things I love about EC is that people get to reflect upon some health situations that made a difference in our well being, and how we possibly solved the problem.
I remember when salt was declared enemy number one as far as my mother was concerned because the doctor told her it was bad for her blood pressure. The older she got the easier it was for her to stay away from salt.
Fast foods always tasted over salted to her. Now, if the truth be told I do remember when she started her no salt war, the doctor said she could cook with salt, but do not add any salt directly to her food.
When mom was in her late 80's, she noticed that her blood pressure had started dropping low. She learned to only take her blood pressure medicine if pressure was high.
Then she began to find herself with hospital stays because she began to get fainting spells. Her blood pressure would suddenly drop after, or while she was using the toilet and she would faint.
The doctor started giving her sodium pills to prevent that. When mom found out that they were giving her sodium pills, she said, "If they would put some salt on my food they would not have to give me salt pills."
Listen to your doctor, mother's doctor said, when preparing food cook with it, salt, sea salt, your body needs some salt! Stay away from processed food when you can, home cooking is the best cooking. I'm talking to me too. Take good care of yourself.

I've been having really bad hypotension for the last week, so have been searching the net for remedies. I had forgotten about the salt water cure. 1/2 teaspoon is too much for me (gag). I just use my instincts, and shake the salt into the glass of water, stir and drink. Then-immediately, it made me drink cup after cup of fresh water, while I was still standing in my kitchen. My body really needed water!-but couldn't take it in without the sodium! I think my blood pressure might be better (I don't have a way to measure at home) because I feel bright-eyed and awake and energetic now. For some reason, salty food does not make me feel energetic--on the contrary, all food immediately makes me tired.

I didn't realise that I had low blood pressure until my partner bought a blood pressure monitor so that he could keep an eye on his high blood pressure.
I was told that low blood pressure shouldn't be too much of a problem but it didn't take long to see a correlation between the times when I felt most tired and low energy, with the times when my pressure was lowest. I found a couple of sites on the internet which suggested soaking 30 raisins in about 1/2 cup of water overnight and then eating the raisins (chewing well) and drinking the water on an empty stomach first thing the morning. I did this three times during the course of one week and three months later my pressure has improved and I feel way more energetic.

Here is a relevant quote from the human trial :
' We found licorice to be more potent than previously known, with significant increases in BP, after a daily intake of only 100 mg GA. Thus, the safe limit of intake of this substance might need to be reconsidered. '
This may also be a potential consideration for orthostatic hypotension (OH) where blood pressure drops suddenly when standing from a seated or laying down position and dizziness often occurs or in severe cases, the person may pass out, but further study would be required to confirm that.

She gave me glass of water with half tsp of Himalayan salt and after an hour it was 124/76 and I felt great! So fast! BUT why did it drop so low!? (btw special thanks to Art Solbrig for pointing me to NAC as destroyer of biofilm in urinary catheter -- nothing to report yet--but I hope it will work).

I am considering re-starting ACV just 2 days a week to begin with (after stopping if over a month ago) for my food allergies. I just read that ACV helps in reducing blood pressure. I normally have a low blood pressure. Is it ok to take ACV in that case or would it reduce my blood pressure even further? I have just had a stunt with brain fog and don't want to get into any other trouble again.

Potassium
On the positive side, I am happy for you and for your success with high potassium foods.
However, on the negative side, you are treating only your symptoms.
Step 1: Check yourself for symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Step 2: Get yourself checked for hypothyroidism. Ask for serum levels of FT3, FT4, and TSH. Why?
Because it is your thyroid gland that controls how fast (or slow) your heart is beating, and how high (or low) your blood pressure is. If your thyroid is underperforming, then you are hypothyroid.
Step 3: The value of your TSH is just a rough guide. For a far more accurate diagnosis, you need to do a bunch of basal temperature tests every morning for a few months.

Methylene Blue
★★★★★
"The suspected mechanism of action of methylene blue is inhibition of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase, which ultimately prevents the smooth muscle dilation that accompanies anaphylaxis. Methylene blue may be a valuable adjunct in the treatment of anaphylaxis and other causes of refractory hypotension.'
The data suggested that in human septic shock, methylene blue increases mean arterial blood pressure through an increase in cardiac index and systemic vascular resistance.
Shock is often a syndrome caused by a systemic derangement of perfusion leading to widespread cellular hypoxia and organ dysfunction. These include cardiogenic (e.g., heart failure), obstructive (e.g., tension pneumothorax), and distributive shock. Distributive shock is characterized by loss of vasomotor tone or an overall decrease in systematic vascular resistance, and is often accompanied by an increase in cardiac output. Sepsis and anaphylaxis are the two most common etiologies of distributive shock. Also, drug-induced shock from certain medications such as calcium channel blockers may have a distributive component as well.
I used Compasslaboratory MB 0.5% solution.
By the same token, people with hypertension or pulmonary hypertension should monitor their blood pressure frequently if using or testing methylene blue because of its hypertensive effects.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
It was brilliant at first. I had so much energy I could take on the world! However, I'm finding now that even if I just have a small mouthful, I'm getting dizzy. What could be the cause of this do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I've had to stop taking the ACV and I do miss the energy so...

Thank you for looking at this article with me. I appreciate your wisdom.
Yes, I noticed that they stated that, Glutamine, "promotes cardiovascular health by serving as an L-Arginine precursor to optimize nitric oxide ".
Many have said that Arginine lowered their High blood pressure. I was wondering that if the Glutamine somehow "fixes blood pressure" to stay in a safe zone.
As far as how low my blood pressure dips, I have noticed that it really depends on what, and how healthy I ate that day and night before I went to bed. If my blood pressure is normal before I go to bed, I have to skip my circulation supplements, or they will drop my pressure to the forbidden zone.
When I do take supplements for blood circulation, (Pine Bark, Co Q10 and Ala), I have to give them a few minutes and check my pressure before I stand up. Glutamine is giving me a satisfactory rate for now, I will watch and see if it really is what is keeping me in the safe zone, if not, I will go back to what I was using before.
Thanks again, "I will let you know how it goes."

Thank you for coming back to give your feedback on the glutamine for hypotension idea! It is nice to find out what is working and what isn't working.
I'm sorry that the glutamine did not work out as you had hoped.
If Rob's remedy is working, then you still have a remedy for your hypotension and that is a good thing!
Can you tell me about your experience with the licorice extract for hypotension?
Thank you!

It sounds like for now, you will have to use a little less of either remedy and take it less often to prevent excessive pressure levels, until you can find a better option.
Dehydration can contribute to hypotension so staying hydrated may help.
Some people with orthostatic hypotension have vitamin B12 deficiency and it might be worth having your doctor test your B12 level. Not everyone responds to oral sublingual B12, but it might be worth a try.

Regarding: Glutamine for Blood Pressure Regulation
When you get some spare time please report back what you think on this PubMed article.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6769761/
I have been using Rob's Baking Soda and Sea Salt mouthwash to help my blood pressure when it drops. However, I believe I found something to stabilize my blood pressure, "L Glutamine"
My blood pressure when I wake up is sometimes is quite low, very low. I was satisfied using the mouthwash and sometimes licorice extract to help raise it up. However, I stumbled upon the Glutamine.
Some time ago my daughter had bought a jar of Glutamine powder and never opened it. I stated using it so it would not go to waste. I noticed that my blood pressure remained in a safe zone while on it. I usually take half a scoop that about 2000mg in half glass of water, morning and evening, after a meal.
I do think this article confirms that Glutamine can regulate blood pressure for some people but to not over-do it. Anyway, I had trouble focusing on the information, so please let me know what you think.

All studies I have read regarding glutamine suggest that it can lower high blood pressure with no mention of being able to elevate hypotension. The link you posted is similar to the other studies in this sense, mentioning the potential to decrease hypertension, but not mentioning the potential to increase hypotension blood pressure levels.
If you are correct in your idea that glutamine can raise low blood pressure levels, you may have a new use for glutamine!
As far as how it works, it may be through another mechanism of action than the mechanisms described in your link such as increased NO production which would certainly cause further decreased blood pressure.
ChatGPT says that hypotension is associated with gut dysbiosis. Glutamine at appropriate dosing is noted for improving the gut microbiome, offering another potential way that glutamine may be improving your hypotension.
The link you supplied also mentioned that glutamine can have other positive cardiovascular effects, but also mentioned that in some people it can have negative cardiovascular effects. Here are two relevant quotes from your link :
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6769761/
' Moreover, emerging data indicates that Gln elicits both beneficial and detrimental effects on cardiovascular health. '
' Importantly, Gln alleviates many known risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, insulin resistance, hypertension, and obesity. However, the rewiring of Gln metabolism can also promote the development of cardiovascular disease by fueling the Krebs cycle and stimulating the unrestrained growth and migration of vascular cells and the deposition of extracellular matrix. '
So the above quotes should play a role in deciding whether glutamine is the right way to try and control hypotension for everyone. I imagine the effective dose being used would also play into that equation.
Since you also use the Licorice Extract, can you give any feedback on how effective it is for your hypotension and what dose you are using and how often?
Please keep us posted on how the glutamine works out for you!

Reporting back to you with my Glutamine experience.
"The Glutamine did Not raise my blood pressure."
Without the lemon tonic, it lowered it.
I thought the glutamine alone was regulating it, so that it would not drop to low. It seemed to be the reason why I stayed in a good zone. Then I ran out of my lemon, garlic and honey concoction, I tried it in equal amounts inspired by Rob's heart tonic, which I was taking to stop a cold in its tracks, and it did.
About the third day after I ran out of the lemon garlic mix, my blood pressure went back to being too low in the morning, like 89/44. That's really now too bad, it used to drop lower.
So this morning, I made another batch of even amounts of lemon and garlic juice with just a spoon of honey this morning, I will see if this gets me back in good blood pressure rate.

Licorice, like the Saltwater mouth wash, will bring my blood pressure up to par, but then, my blood pressure gets higher and higher. With daily intake my blood pressure began to stay headache high until I stop using the licorice or saltwater mouth for a while. So it becomes a cycle, my pressure gives me sudden high blood pressure or sudden dizzy low blood pressure.
it would be wonderful if some thing can heal the blood vessels or whatever so that the blood pressure would automatically regulate to a healthy number after meals or stress automatically.

A Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) test is a blood (urine) test that measures the amount of MMA in the blood. MMA is produced when the body digests protein, and it can be used as an indicator of vitamin B12 deficiency. Elevated MMA levels often indicate a low level of B12 in the body.
Hypotension is more complex than vitamins deficiencies. Read more here
