Dental Extraction Pain Remedies

Quite a few years ago, at this point, I was really having problems with this same thing. Believe it or not, it was my acupuncturist who fixed that issue. I would never have put this together but he explained that tooth sensitivity is related to stomach issues. He needled me for this and it took care of this! Now, when my teeth feel strange or are sensitive, I know it has more to do with my stomach than my teeth. I eat calming foods and never drink cold drinks as cold puts out the digestive fire and causes havoc in the stomach.

Hope this helps, Lisa

Clove Oil

Hi, I had a wisdom tooth extraction which led to dry socket. It hurt so bad, the pain was unbearable. I couldnt get to the dentist because it was closed, so I went and bought some clove oil, VERY potent stuff. I wet the gauze with a little clove oil and water and bit down on it. It was extremely powerful and was very bitter. I left it in for about 20 seconds biting down on it and pulled it out. I swallowed the reminence of it and it was spicy and bitter. Well, after that, I waited about 5 seconds and it atarted to work. All the pain was gone. I recommend it to anyone with dry socket, although it is powerful, it will get the job done better thsn psin meds, which I also took along side of clove oil, like ibuprophen, and applied Tigers Balm to the outside of the face where more of the pain was, and it took away the swelling. You will have to do this a few times a day and clean your teeth before you do this.

Salt Water Rinses

I had oral surgery about a week ago; three seperate procedures, same day! No single thing has brought me more relief than warm sea salt water rinses. The warmer the water the better.

Multiple Remedies

I had surgery to remove a previous root filled tooth that had fractured vertically. As soon as I got home I applied a teabag (must be a BLACK tea bag) WITH CLOVE OIL APPLIED TO THE TEABAG FIRST.

And had 4 grams of vitamin C every 6 hours and 4 drops of propolis tincture 50% 3 times a day.

I also took Paracetamol 2 six hours apart and only had to take four yesterday. 2 six hours apart after the operation as soon as I felt the anesthetic wearing off.

Then another 2 at 3am when I awoke. The propolis I added to a WARM cup of Red bush tea and drank it through a straw which stops the propolis staining your teeth.

DO NOT DRINK THROUGH A STRAW AFTER DENTAL EXTRACTION!!!

Just add to warm water or tea and drink from a cup. I was trying to avoid getting anything in the socket and was NOT advised about this, I found it on the web.

I got up at 3am in pain and did the propolis again through a straw and a big long blood clot was hanging from the socket right after.

I was then trying to find what to do about the blood clot and came across 'Dry socket'. And thought I was in trouble IF THE CLOT CAME AWAY.

I then put another teabag to hold the clot in the socket and couldn't find anything on line as what to do about the hanging clot. So I rang a dental NHS Direct who gave me an emergency number to ring and speak to a nurse.

She told me to take the tea bag off as it was now 18 hours after the operation and the clot MUST COME OFF BUT DO NOT PULL IT OFF. It will fall off by eating and drinking. And it's all absolutely supposed to happen like this, as long as there is no bleeding and the clot had formed.

Then to leave it until 24 hours have passed by then do a salt in water warm rinse 4 times a day until you feel pain and swelling subside. And the brush teeth carefully avoiding the extraction site and surrounding teeth for a few days.

DO NOT SWISH..just hold the salt water over the socket until it cools and just let it run out of you mouth DON'T SPIT as this will put pressure and cause pulling on the socket.

So far I have minimal pain and some swelling but nothing too bad at all. And I believe doing everything before the anesthetic wore off was the key to keeping it minimal.

I also 'Earthed/Grounded' myself for an hour when I got home by laying on the grass on a Cotton towel. I only put my back and neck on the towel to stop 'Grass rash' and rested my head, arm's and legs on the Grass directly.

I will be 'Earthing' myself again today but for as long as I can, I have the book 'Earthing'. It states if you get 'flu symptoms' from 'Earthing, then rest up for the day and do it as soon as you feel better.

I did have a lot of joint pain etc from other stuff going on with my body but I am going to carry on as I can suck it up and do it.

And I did get 'Flu symptoms' for a day last week after 'Earthing' all day in the Sun by walking around barefooted. And then went out in the Rain and did it again in the evening for an hour.

So I just spent the next day indoors doing stuff and resting up and went to bed early. So for the next week besides 'Earthing' I am going to do the propolis 3 times a day and the salt water rinse 4 times a day and vit C 4 gram's 3 times a day for 5 to 7 day's.

The paracetamol I won't take unless really necessary and staying on bone and veg broth for a few days.

I have added fresh chili peppers, ginger, onions, garlic turmeric root black pepper and various fresh herbs as well. Thyme, rosemary, mint, I don't always completely strain mine unless I have to to eat it. But I will be avoiding eating any bits that are too chewy for a few days.

But leave the soft bits in. I also put a lot of raw butter on it as well and Celtic salt yum!!

Dental Nerve Healing

Hi! I had to extract 2 of my upper jaw wisdom teeth in June 2013 as they were next to my sinus membrane n were troubling me in form of giddiness n weakness. Ever since the extraction, my nerves are totally disturbed n I still have d pain of the wound due to d extraction though it is healing slowly. My dentist has said it would take at least a year to heal. In the meantime there aren't any medicines for it. I wanted to know if there are any home remedies which can soothe n heal d nerves faster. Best wishes

Extracted molar quickly resulted with significant swelling and pain. Soaked a regular tea bag for a few minutes in warm water, squeezed out most of the liquid, then lightly bit down on the bag. After an hour or so, a noticeable reduction in both pain and swelling. Continued this process for several days... rapid healing has occurred.

I think good Acupuncturists are greatly underestimated.

7 years ago, I had all my upper teeth removed. Recently, I had my lower teeth removed, but I was feeling severe pain in my upper gum, which I thought were 'sympathy' pains.

I saw an incredible Acupuncturist for a viral infection and just mentioned my 'no teeth' and the pain. She told me that it had to do with my Kidney Meridian. No more pain after the treatment.

Clove Oil, Tea Tree Oil

Hs,,,,,,, thank you for your post. As a story teller, I have just the one for this post. Our dentist was married to a world class model and she had an infected tooth. She wanted a root canal and he counseled pulling. She won and later died of breast cancer. He got teary eyed when he told us this story as he knew that every tooth you have connects with a particular part of your body. Her infected tooth connected to her breast. That was many years ago and he has never re-married. I have never had a root canal, but my Tractor Driver has had several. We did not know the danger. Ozone is now used to kill the dental infection, but my research says even that only kills the bacteria for a year. Think we would be better served by reading the Old Farmers Almanac and following the Zodiac. Worked for our ancestors.

Hs, I wish you well.

Cider Apple Vinegar worked for my dental extraction pain. 1 tspn in a glass of luke warm water, swish gently. It reduced the swelling and inflammation. Follow dentist advice for the first 24- 48 hours. To ensure clotting has taken place Then mouth wash twice a day. Any pain and swelling return to the dentist.

Pineapple Juice, Vitamins A and D

I read years ago that if you drink LOTS of pineapple juice (like a can a day) and take extra A&D prior to having dental work like a root canal there would be no swelling or issues. I followed this and have taken an hour off from work for a root canal and came back to work with no issues (as a teacher! ). I know it is best not to have to have these procedures but sometimes it happens!

Oil Pulling

I've had a few sensitive teeth before, but recently a back molar, cause was crappy dental work, four days now I've been doing oil pulling with Sunflower oil, it seems to work, because my dentist who helped me with another sensitive tooth won't do anything for this one. Maybe it's because the needle I got in that tooth is linked to my cataracts because the needle touched the eye nerve and I was twitching for 3 straight months, not sure, but the oil pulling works. One friend said using coconut oil every morning made her loose teeth sturdy! 4 days now and it doesn't hurt as much, but it's only 4 days, and that's good...... the Colgate Pro Sensitive when I put that on I screamed, a friend's dentist told her that would ruin the enamel, on the waiting list 6 months to see this special dentist!

Oil Pulling, use Sunflower or Coconut 1 Tbsp. swish throughout the mouth 1st thing in the morning, rinse with salt water after spitting it out, and then brush your teeth, that's it.

I just want to add one more story. I have been applying clove oil in the area I used to have discomfort every night. Fortunately, I don't have pain but I started bleeding this morning when I was brushing teeth. Is is abnormal?

i have this exact same problem... except that my tooth is still alive... it doesn't hurt and the dentist wants to do a root canal and the put a crown on it and the cost will be 1,800!!! with the other work i needed this will just not be doable for me. so i started brushing my teeth with a toothpaste containing xylitol. this has worked so well my teeth and gums feel much stronger and i feel that i can leave it alone until i decide what to do. i know this isn't a cure - so to speak - but also massaging my gums has helped too.

Hi, I think that perhaps you should find another dentist. This is a root canal and crown that have gone bad and you can just have it pulled not requiring an "oral surgeon" in my estimate. I would definitely get a second opinion. There are even dentists office that will give you your first visit free. I had the exact problem and just had it pulled. Good Luck:)

Magnets for the facial area or brain are NOT suggested generally. That is what I read, in this book.

Inflammation, take Bromelain tablet and turmeric are amazing. I took Bromelain and arnica montana and drank aloe vera juice 5 days prior to surgery and I had an easy recovery.

Strangely I just had a tooth extracted a few hours ago. Unfortunately I've had many teeth pulled so I can say from lots of experience that the above advice is RIGHT ON. All great ideas for fast and painless as possible healing. One more thing - try to keep your tongue out of it. Difficult to not fiddle with it, I know, but try your best.

Hi Simi -

I am scared to death of dentists myself (due to a very bad experience with one as a child).

I am writing to reassure you - when you go to an oral surgeon they can put you into a twilight type of sleep, where you will not be in any pain or even care while they pull the tooth. An infected or rotten tooth can have a bad effect on your entire body.

I know it is scary. I wish you well.

Hang in there.

Hi Lynda, Just reading your comment re apple cider vinegar and tooth extraction. I need a root canal but have decided to have it out instead and for some reason I am really scared about it (probable goes back to my childhood and my fear of dentists). Can you give me an indication of how it was. I've had two root canals and they were fine but this has me terrified.

Coconut oil in the diet has made life bearable from pain all day and night in numerous spots... Some ugly cavities and some broken crowns and some just seem to have sensitivities.

Gave up getting any more fixes, all the old ones failed and most recent work 2010, new crowns and fillings, ended up causing pain for solid year all day- everyday

12-12 to 4-13 Eat coconut oil in diet EVERYDAY and pain stays away... skip day or two and pain is back with a vengence.

To: Mr Ted.... I have a question

I had a root canal done in a right upper tooth when I was 15 years old. Everything was o.k. Until I was pregnant with my daughter about 9 years ago. The gum was infected (around the area of root canal) a large pus from root canal was hurting my mouth. I was put on antibiotics twice during my pregnancy. My oral surgeon drained the pus after I gave a birth to my daughter. That was 9 years ago.

I began to have pain in the same area this summer. Once more I saw my dentist and he told me that I needed to extract the tooth. To make a long story short, I found a dentist who would do a re-root canal. He did a re-root canal for me this October of 2011 and put a new crown. His comment was there would be no guarantee that this tooth would last long. I thought he was saying to me indirectly that I need to extract this tooth eventually. My gum area was again started hurting about 2-3 weeks ago, so I put clove oil and tea tree oil in where I was hurting. Fortunately all my pain is gone and I feel that this tooth will last long. Do you think these oil are getting rid of my infection? I understand we cannot wipe out infection from root canal completely.

I really want to keep all my teeth including the one I talked about. Is there any other recommendation to keep the tooth other than what I am doing right now? (using oil) Sincerely, Summer
