Many years ago I thought I had a major health problem with lumpy ,extremely painful breasts..finally got the courage to go to doctors and hear the bad news..he asked if I drank black coffee!!!! (which I had started doing a few weeks before ) He gave me a booklet (about 30 pages) about the effects of coffee on various organs and glands in the body..after a few days off the coffee breasts were back to normal. Prior to this I had only ever taken an occassional coffee with full cream milk. Apparently the milk and cream mitigate some of coffee's ravages.

My naturopath recommended Lugol's, eight drops per day, for asthma. I took it as directed and it completely cured a completely different problem. My breasts has been so painful, for nearly a year, that I had to hold them still with my hands when I got out of bed, crying from pain. Lugol's completely cured this. If I lower the dosage or skip it, the symptom returns.

Detoxing From Mammograms

There is much controversy now that mammograms can actually fail to identify cysts accurately, as well as cause cancers of the breast. You might want to visit Mercola's site to read about this. Another thing I suggest is that you google potassium iodide (SSKI) and pull up Dr. Wright's Tahoma Clinic reference. I believe that he recommends SSKI for cyst/fibroids among other things. I think you might also find what he thinks about mammograms.

My suggestion on lumps is to tell you about my personal experience. While working on getting my MSN as a nurse practitioner at VUSN, we did breast exams on each other. My student lab partner was so upset with the multiple lumps in my breast that she quickly ran to get the head of the Nurse Practitioner program to come verify what she found. Our program director was also upset with the multiple lumps in my breast and asked me if had ever had a doctor check them out or if I did breast exams on myself monthly. I wasn't upset at all.

I just laughed and told both of them that the answer to both questions was no, because when you had as many lumps as I had in my breast that it was impossible to tell when a new one joined the crowd so I didn't waste my time checking for them. Also told them that I wasn't about to let somebody start trying to remove them because I wouldn't have any breast at all if you removed all my lumps. One thing I did add to thevitamins/minerals I was taking was 400 IU of vitamin E daily and wasn't aware that they were disappearing until one day while bathing, I happened to notice while washing my breast -HEY - NO LUMPS ANYMORE!! Still none today and they have been gone for 20+ years. You might want to start taking Vit E 400 IU's 2 or 3 times s day. However if you are on blood thinners for any reason, make sure it doesn't create a problem there.

Another question is, is there a family history of breast cancer in your family? If not, the probability is low for you unless you are eating a lot of processed foods which are heavily laden with MSG and aspartame. If so, please google excitotoxins and print out that list of names they hide MSG under in the ingredients lists,
and work on eliminating both MSG and aspartame from your foods. I have to agree with Dr. Russell Blaylock who wrote the book Excitotoxins:The Taste That Kills on MSG and aspartame being the major cause of headaches, brain tumors, brain cancers, ALS, Alzheimers, seizures, Parkinson's disease and a few others. He only writes on what they do to the brain & CNS. When cancer strikes it is going to hit the weaker areas of your body, and if they can cause cancer in one part of the body they can cause them elsewhere in the body.

I don't know your family situation, but if you have children and breast fed them the probability of cancer is lessened also. In the nurse practitioner program we were told that the lowest incidence of breast cancer was among the nuns, but the highest incidence was among women who had children but didn't breast feed them.

PS. In the future, please limit the excess shots on any mammograms, xrays, or MRI's etc. as excessive radiation is also known to cause cancer. I know the radiologist thought she was doing you a favor, but again, I'll get personal and tell you what the doctors at Mayo Clinic told my brother in l982 while treating him for melanoma of head & throat: "It would be almost impossible to prove but excessive dental xrays are probably what caused your cancer". My brother said everytime he went into the dentist office he got at least one or more dental xrays for years. Dentists make a good profit off of the dental xrays they do.

I used DIM 100 mg for breast cysts, and it cleared them up in a couple of days. I had actually scheduled a mammogram and took DIM after reading an article about it. I almost canceled my mammogram, but decided to have once since it had been some time.

When I mentioned DIM to the female technician, she said there was a pharmaceutical product you could take. Of course, there was. But DIM can be bought over the counter, and is much cheaper and works. A win, win. I'm really surprised no one has posted about this.

Eliminating milk products and wheat drastically reduced the size of my cysts and eliminated the soreness. Benign uterine and breasts cysts are common in my family of mostly women. I believe (not my doctor) that milk and wheat affect my hormones and cause the cysts. When I went on a low carb diet of mostly veggies, fruit, and meat, the uterine cysts shrunk, became softer, and stopped hurting. Plus, my near month long periods went back to 4 normal days. This took 3 weeks. I had not had 4 day periods since I was 30. I've come to believe that hormones & casein of cows milk and the estrogen of wheat adversely affects female breast and uterine tissue. I was once told by a psychic to stop consuming both if I wanted good health. He said that cow milk is for baby cows and grain is for cattle. He recommended the diet I mentioned above. But, at time, I loved my ice cream. Now I know he was totally correct. Everything improves when I keep milk and grains out of my system.

Sea Buckthorn

I've dealt with breast pain during my cycle pretty much most of my adult life, but the pain escalated during my mid-30's and has continued to get worse (I'm 39). I've tried absolutely everything that's been mentioned for fibrocystic breasts including the following: iodine, magnesium, calcium, zinc, b vitamins, fish oil (made them worse), Flax oil/seed, vitamin A, Vitamin E, Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Molasses... Ad nauseum. Also, several years ago I switched all of my household cleaning & laundry as well as bath/beauty products to all natural/non-toxic. None of these things made a significant reduction in pain.

Recently I decided to try Sea Buckthorn (internally) to improve my dry skin, and lo and behold, my breast pain has significantly decreased since going on this regimen. They had gotten so bad before the sea buckthorn that I couldn't even stand to wear a bra. I still have some pain, but this is my third cycle on the sea buckthorn and I cannot believe the difference. I can't tell you how happy I am to have discovered this and wanted to share it in case there is anyone else who has had the same problem and like me has gotten no results from other methods. The Sea Buckthorn is expensive, but I can't live without it now. Anyone who has intense breast pain 15 - 20 days/month as I have will understand. Ellen

Hi Kelly - I applied Lugol's (it was a 5% solution from Xenex labs) every day for about three months before the cysts finally disappeared (they decrease in size very slowly). It was frustrating at first because I thought nothing was happening but it's a very gradual process. By the way, the doctor who suggested this was Dr. David Derry (no longer practicing) in Victoria, BC. I went to him for thyroid problems. He said many thyroid patients have cysts. I'm very thankful I met such a forward-thinking doctor. Have you been tested for hypothyroidism? I know the normal range was changed several years ago so a lot of folks are now being properly diagnosed. Good luck!

Magnesium

I sometimes get very painful and sore breasts during the month which worsen with caffeine. What I have found that can get rid of most of the pain and sensitivity within 24 hours is magnesium - either powdered or a daily epsom salts baths where I soak for at least 15 minutes in a full tub of hot water with half a bag of epsom salts. Taking powdered mag (calm) is so much easier than soaking in a bath, but my stomach can only take so much magnesium. It causes a lot of gas and loose stools. I have tried magnesium oil too, but prefer soaking in epsom salts.

I stopped magnesium for about a month so I could try other remedies, but none of them worked. I tried blackstrap molasses, vitamin e capsules, iodine supplement and some herbs for balancing hormones.

I hope this helps someone!

I had a similar experience about 15 years ago after having a mammogram that I think was too intense. My skin had red streaks afterwards. Some time after that my left breast started a yellowish discharge and eventually began to bleed. It was diagnosed as an intraductal papilloma and I had to have it removed surgically. There was a soft lump at the incision site and it remained soft for many years. Lately it has become harder but not larger. I'm thinking it has calcified or turned into a cyst. I am going to increase my iodine to see if this helps. I blame the mammogram for this problem and avoid them altogether now.

Anna: Yes, I have been a long-time iherb customer and recommend their products and service highly.

The two products you linked look to be a most excellent source of natural antioxidants. The addition of Coconut oil should be a big boost to overall health as it is beneficial in sooo many ways to the human body. As for seaweed and algae, I personally take one each tab of Spirulina and Chlorella daily; but if u can find a good "seaweed complex" that contains other species, try that. You can also purchase as a powder and make smoothies or simply add to veggie juicing.

Don't forget to add some Pumpkin Seeds and Brazil Nuts so the Carotinoids and Tocotreinols can "complex" and get the real power of antioxidants in your tissues and cells.

Let us know when your better!

Vitamin D

Vitamin D for sensitive/sore breasts: For years I had a problem with overly sensitive breasts. Most of the time I couldn't sleep without a bra because even clothing moving against them was extremely uncomfortable, and the nipples became sore very easily. A few months ago I added vitamin D (in the D3 form) to my supplements. I soon found that the soreness in my breasts disappeared entirely! It has not been a problem since. I take a 1000 IU sublingual "dot" which also contains vitamin K (which works with D for bone health), plus an additional 2000 IU gelcap of D3 alone. Be sure to get adequate calcium and magnesium when supplementing with vitamin D as these need to be balanced for bone health.

I'm going against the general spirit of the site on this one - stop messing around and get that properly diagnosed by a specialist ASAP. If it is indeed cancer, well it's up to you if you want to try natural cures or orthodox medicine, but you can't even begin to decide on a course of action until you actually know for sure what you have. An acupuncturist cannot tell you whether or not you have cancer. You REALLY need to get that seen to by the specialist.

We who prefer the natural ways should be careful not be extremist about it - that's ultimately no better than believing only orthodox medicine can help someone. There is certainly value in orthodox medicine and its technology and it would be foolish to dismiss it entirely just because we don't agree with all of it. It's the wisdom to know when and why to seek help through that route that we must strive for. I strongly believe this is one of those times. Please get it checked out, and I hope you'll come back with an update (may it be a happy one!). Sending warm wishes for your health.

EC: Great advice, thanks T. Agree 100%.

The largest levels of iodine in the body is found in the thyroid. The blood circulates through the thyroid every so often as part of the immune system which is part of what makes iodine levels so important.

The second largest level of iodine is found in breast tissue. This explains why you found relief after taking the Lugol's Iodine. Blessings, Robin

A natural vitamin E is fine, but a cyst generally takes time to reduce it's size, but the fastest I have seen is bloodroot tincture (sanguinaria) taken a couple of drops a day. Most cysts are accumulated calcium and magnesium supplements also speed up the process. The first is to get rid of the pain, then the second is to reduce the size, which takes awhile. It helps to remove metallic wire in the bra to help circulation too. Some disodium EDTA helps for a woman, but only a small dose, to reduce calcium, but it may have an effect of making menstruation period longer and then a vitamin K is needed. A magnesium supplement is more gentle in displacing them. A selenium supplements also have some anti cancer properties too. A cysts generally exists whenver our body has two things, too much calcium, and lack of magnesium. To accelerate the process, metabolic acidosis, or being acid for a very long period of time. A cyst takes years to form and perhaps can be reduced to within months if taking the right thing, but to take a week or so is difficult, with the possible exception of bloodroot tincture extract, which might reduce in half within matter of days. But they seem to be more active on the more malignant cancer and is slower on benign ones and non cancerous ones.

Dear All and Ted from Thailand,

I came across this while searching for Green/Natural remedy to get rid of small Lump in my right breast. I am young graduate and really worried. I went to see my GB after I discovered small lump in my right breast the doctor refered my for scanning. The next day I had my period so I thought it was my circle after nearly a month and half my GB called me to urge me to see her and again transfer me to be screened.

Can anyone suggest please what is the best way to get rid of this small lump. I have no family history and my mom had lump in her breast for years with no side effects. She got it removed recently. I do not trust doctors very much as I know they got to maximize profit and manimize costs and a nurse friend keep telling us how it is all mainly a buiness.. I know there are many good doctors, but for them we are just number:(

I think there must be a natural way to help myself and remove this small lump naturally?? Also should I take anything before my breast scan?I am due to be screened this Thursday the 2nd-Aug.

Many thanks in advance, Angela

This is a followup to the above post. The bloody discharge continued so I went to a doc who ordered a mammogram, although I didn't want to do that. The mammo showed a growth and a biopsy was done that showed malignancy. I opted for surgery.

Prior to surgery, I had a series of IV vitamin C treatments along with hydrogen peroxide therapy at home. My other doc advised me to take fractionated pectin powder (modified citrus pectin) before the biopsy to prevent stray cancer cells from doing harm, which I did. The results of the unilateral mastectomy showed that the malignancy had not spread to the outer edges and the one affected lymph node was encapsulated. The surgeon removed 20 lymph nodes as well as the breast. The hospital reported that tests showed that I DID NOT need chemotherapy! I am now taking a hormone pill to supposedly prevent a recurrence.

I give credit to the vitamin C IV treatments, citrus pectin and hydrogen peroxide for the very favorable outcome.

General Feedback

Well, finally I have to air this problem. Recently I tried about eight different bras in varying price ranges. What I really believe is that it is a conspiracy against women's health if one examines the fabric they are made with.

Growing up, I had always well made bras that breathed and never "let me steep in my own juice". Nowadays at least here in Canada, all the fabrics are airtight and totally synthetic. Even custom made bras are made that way and while demonstrating on videos, no mention is made that human tissue is prevented from breathing. I finally settled for a cheaper bra since I find no point in spending on a garment that does not breathe no matter what the cost. So sometimes I use coconut oil to treat fungus due to this situation and wear loose clothing and no bra because it is utterly uncomfortable, always causing fungal infection especially under the band that goes around the rib cage. And that in the heat of the summer especially

Most cotton is now GMO'ed and poisoned. But I believe that the industry has directions what fabrics to use. There is seemingly nothing else but air tight stuff even though it says it is "breathable". Nothing is further from the truth.

Dr. Marc Sircus on his website mentioned this fact about women's bras in connection with breast cancer, since fungal infections can permeate the skin layers and cause havoc internally. Skin must breathe! In the past, the design included enough airy parts or the entire fabric. No More!

With toxic medicines, forbidden cures, poisoned foods, air and water, is this not worth making a point?

If you want to enlarge your breasts try massaging them nightly. Do it any way you choose but try to make it a real workout for them. Do this 10-20 minutes at the end of the day and they should be tired and a bit sore by nightime. You will increase your bosom.

I don't know if you buy your supplements from iherb but if you ever visit iherb.com I am wondering would you take a look at these two products for me and give me your opinion. I had never heard of red palm oil before. I am wondering if you have an opinion on these products in relation to my complaint.

Anna: Sorry I failed to address your concern with Mercury toxicity. To keep heavy metal levels low in the body it is advised to consume Chlorella and Cilantro. The sensitivity you expressed could be related to Mercury.

As to the safety of product ingredients, there are extreme views from very safe to "all supplements are tainted". At any rate, I consider supplements to be as safe as the foods we eat. If you are concerned with toxicity issues read the E.C. page on "Detoxification". Keeping the body clean on the inside is our best defense against chronic illnesses. Keeping antioxidant status high is critical.

I'd personally add the mammogram as well and then take it from there, just step by step, see what the docs say about these test results before deciding on biopsy. I definitely hope your acupuncturist is right, but find out for absolute certain. Better safe than sorry with a thing like this, and if it is indeed nothing (praying so!) then you'll still have a great benefit - having the fear and worry lifted from you! Simply getting a big stressor like that off your back can only be good for your overall health. I'll be thinking of you and sending prayers your way...please do let us know how it's going, ok?

I really have problems about the x ray system. Normally you can't take more then 1 x rays. Cancer tend to be malignant after exposure to them and that is not reassuring to use test to confirm that it is not, but with exposure it is.

The effects of radiation is a real bummer. Usually the thymus gland is reduced by 1/2 after a brief exposure using the mammography and x rays. The effects of radiation exposure can be minimized with sodium thiosulfate (one crystal in a liter of drinking water), a lot of sodium ascorbate vitamin C 1000-2000 mg, and lots of baking soda. SSKI is fine, but it works along with Magnesium like Siamese twins.

MSM may reduce some effects of radiation too by its ability to remove some damaged cells by oxygenating them and providing them with sulfur. MSM 500 x 3 I believe will neutralize most of these free radical radiation. However to prevent DNA damage an amino acid L-Carnosine 500 mg x 4, which will protect the DNA from damages as it protects the DNA from changes. In fact in a research study in petri dishes, the scientist managed to stop cancer growth COMPLETELY after adding carnosine for a three week period. In practice, we need to take carnosine for three times more then the research study reveals, which is about 9 week at least since the body tend to neutralize the carnosine with carnosinase. In a research they found carnosine protected about 68% of DNA and chromosome damages.

Calcium Bentonite Clay taken internally will attract the radiation and flush it out of the system. Take with plenty of water as it can cause constipation if not enough fluids are taken. It can be added to bath water and soaked in to absorb radiation through the skin as well. Be sure to strain the bath water so as not to clog the tub. This is also used for people that have been overexposed to radiation from nuclear plants. Blessings, Robin

Dear Shoegirl, You need to know that Maca is merely a peruvian turnip. You can use broccoli sprouts, juiced broccoli, kale, cabbage, or regular turnips and also probably find a similar effect. I don't know why it would help your breasts but the sulphoraphane (isothiocyanate) in maca and other cruciferous family veggies are a prefered substrate for iodine and will interefer with its absorbtion by the thyroid and so an extra source of iodine should be used like kelp or occasionally short term potassium iodide(very high iodine levels).
