Note: Buerger's disease, also known as thromboangiitis obliterans, is a rare condition that causes inflammation and clotting in the small and medium-sized blood vessels, primarily in the hands and feet.

Miss R.S. reports: "A few years ago, I suddenly developed Buerger's Disease in my left foot—the first 3 toes were cyanotic (bluish discoloration of the skin resulting from poor circulation or inadequate oxygenation of the blood) and I had an abscess on the third toe. I had terrific pains in my leg, painful walking, and was unable to sleep. I went to a doctor who wanted to amputate the toes. I refused. After reading about vitamin E, I immediately increased my intake from 800 I.U.'s daily to 1600 and gradually to 2400 I.U.'s a day, along with soy lecithin granules and 500 mg. of vitamin C—massaged my foot and exercised.
"Within 3 days the pain was almost gone and I was able to sleep and walk better. To say the least, I still have my toes and they look normal in color. I've always had a circulatory problem and 3 years ago dissolved a blood clot in my leg almost overnight with vitamin E. If it wasn't for vitamin E I might be minus 3 toes and who knows, by now, probably part of my foot." (Note: The International Record of Medicine, July 1951, reports that of 18 patients with Buerger's Disease treated with vitamin E, 17 were cured! )
