Soy Lecithin – Heart, Veins, And High Blood Pressure.

From the Book: Miracle Medicine Foods, p. 47-50. 1977 by Rex Adams

In his book, The Low-Fat Way to Health and Longer Life (Rrentice-Hall, Inc., 1958), Lester M. Morrison, M.D. writes: "Now I'm going to tell you about one of the most important nutritional supplements developed in the last 50 years. Make a careful note of it and of how it is to be used, as described in these pages. The least it can do for you is to improve your health and give you added vitality. And it may help save your life." He goes on to describe soybean lecithin.

Soybeans contain the miracle medicine food lecithin (Sold as Soy or Sunflower Lecithin Softgels), an unsaturated fatty acid. Soybean lecithin has been found to clean out veins and arteries—dissolve the gooey sludge cholesterol—and thus increase circulation, relieve heart, vein and artery problems, soothe the liver and gallbladder (bile and gallstones contain cholesterol), relieve anemia, kidney disorders, eczema, psoriasis, and some forms of arthritis. It has cured many diabetics—cured brain clots, strokes, paralyzed legs, hands and arms.

Dr. Morrison says that lecithin is an essential constituent of all living cells and plays a vital role. After more than 10 years of intense experimentation, he says that lecithin is the best of all cholesterol-reducing agents tested, and can prevent heart and blood vessel disease. Atherosclerotic plaques are dissolved and removed by lecithin, he says, and soybean lecithin is able to prevent blood clotting in the arteries! In those who used it, scientists found evidence of increased immunity against virus infections (including immunity against pneumonia). Dr. Morrison says he is certain that lecithin is one of our most powerful weapons against disease, and an especially, valuable bulwark against development of hardening of the arteries and all the complications of heart, brain, and kidney that follow. He calls it the most valuable of all food oils.

Dr. Morrison places lecithin at the top of the list in a heart-food program of lean meats, soft fats (those that are liquid at room temperature, such as most vegetable oils), fish, poultry, fresh fruits and vegetables, all cooked or dry cereals, whole wheat bread, most natural syrups and honey, and fat-free beverages. He says to include lecithin with certain powerful heart-food supplements at mealtime, in a five-step program as follows: (1) take 2 to 4 tablespoons of soybean lecijhin at breakfast, (2) add the most powerful dose of B complex vitamins you can get in tablet form (follow the instructions on the label but ask your dealer for the best brand), (3) take at least 25,000 units of vitamin A and 150 mg. of vitamin C daily, (4) take two tablespoons of soybean oil, corn oil or safflower oil daily as salad dressing or with tomato or fruit juice, (5) include 2 to 4 tablespoons of whole wheat germ each day, with cereal or salad.

Soybean lecithin is available in capsule, liquid or powder form at health stores everywhere. It is a prime ingredient in Dr. Morrison's Low-Fat Way to Better Health and Longer Life, along with sensible weight-reduction and moderate exercise.

Reported Cases:

Dr. Morrison reports how 19 elderly patients were placed on this program. All—with one exception—had suffered from a stroke or hardening of the brain arteries. Doctors generally regard such poor souls as hopeless vegetables, he says. All suffered some paralysis of legs, hands or arms, and were weak, listless and depressed. One had Parkinsonism, the shaking of the hands (tremors) so often seen in the elderly. In 12 weeks they showed striking and dramatic improvement They were alert, energetic, stronger, some sufficiently well to be discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Morrison tells of an 83-year-old stroke victim, brought to his office in a wheelchair: "Mrs. A. was too feeble to walk, almost blind, partly deaf, and too weak to feed herself… " Using the Miracle Medicine Food, lecithin, as described in this book, in two months, a miracle happened! "Mrs. A. walked in to see me, under her own power. She was able to see… Because her hearing had returned, we were able to carry on a conversation." She laughed at having cheated death.

Dr. Morrison continues: "Take the case of Miss R., a 65-year-old maiden lady who had a stroke (she'd suffered a brain clot due to hardening of the arteries). Her vision was failing and she was partly paralyzed, desperate and depressed… " Using the Miracle Medicinfe Food, lecithin, as described in his book, he says: "Miss R. recovered much of her muscular powers, her partial paralysis gradually disappeared, and she became a radiant picture of cheerfulness… Her vision had greatly improved, and when last seen in my office she asked me brightly, Doctor, could I go swimming?' I replied, Indeed yes, but—no diving! "

Lecithin has dramatically reduced some extremely high cholesterol cases. As reported in the Journal of the Mt. Sinai Hospital, one woman, age 38, had a reading of 1370! This was reduced to 445 when she took 2 1/2 teaspoonsful of lecithin daily for three months. Other readings of 300 to 600 were cut in half, on about the same dosage in 80 to 12 weeks! A diabetic woman who was very obese reduced her count by 125 points in one and a half months.

A 60-year-old man with extremely high blood pressure was given an expensive medical treatment which didn't seem to help. After hearing about liquid lecithin, he began taking a tablespoonful daily, and in a matter of weeks his blood pressure dropped over 100 points.

Mr. H.B. suffered severe angina (heart) attacks, and was told by doctors he had only 10 years to live provided he avoid all strenuous exercise. After reading that lecithin keeps cholesterol liquefied in the system, he began taking one tablespoonful daily. Twenty years later, he reported that he was never troubled with angina again.

Mrs. U., a housewife of 45, had always been ashamed of fatty spots of yeUowish hue that appeared on her skin. Soon after she began adding lecithin to her diet, as prescribed by her doctor, the patches began to disappear. Eventually, they vanished altogether (The Low-Fat Way to Health and Longer Life, Ibid.).
