Elderberry, Vitamins C and E

Everyone in my family had strep and flu, I was just beginning to feel bad. I read somewhere on this site that Elderberry tea would help, and Vitamin C and Vitamin E. I could not find the Elderberry tea so I got Sambucol Elderberry Extract, I took a teaspoon a day with a small amount of water in it like the box said (The internet said take 3 times a day for 5 days, however I only took it once a day and it worked), I also took 1500 mg of Vitamin C Chewable and 400IU Vitamin E a day along with that, and it knocked it out by day two, I was trying to avoid the strep, right before Christmas when I took my granddaughter back to the doc for a second strep test. I had not been sick at all, but my throat that morning a felt a little scratchy, but I ask the Doc to run a strep test on me while I was there and it was positive, which she put me on an antibiotic, however I never ran a fever or anything with my strep so I think the home remedies helped there and I never did get the flu. I made sure I did not take my Vitamin C within 4 hours of taking my antibiotic.
Now everyone is getting the flu again and I felt like I was trying to get it so I started back on the Elderberry, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. I also do the Emergen-C orange or raspberry if I don't have the chewable C with me and it works really well.
Ginger

Just using the powdered ginger from the grocery store spice aisle worked for me in one dose in 2009 when the H1N1 flu was going around. My son had gotten it and coughed right in my face when I tucked him in bed (I couldn't get him to take anything like ginger for it - he was too young and spit it out), so about 2 days later, I suddenly had a runny nose and little tickles in my upper chest - felt like tiny bubbles popping in my chest. When I realized that what I was feeling was the flu, the ginger remedy I had seen here popped into my head (thank you, EC - love your site and you are my first go-to for so many things now! ) Going with what I had available, I used 1/2 tsp of the powdered ginger and made a tea with it, heating up a mug of water and then stirring the powdered ginger in with a bit of sugar. It didn't taste too good but I drank it and had to swirl the mug around to get the leftover powder on the bottom of the mug into my mouth. Within an hour, the symptoms were all gone. I was extremely relieved, because I had a really nasty virus about a year earlier, that I had gotten pneumonia from, and it had wreaked havoc on my upper respiratory area where the flu was trying to take hold and I was still suffering from recurring chest congestion every time I got a cold at that time. So I was extremely worried that the flu would land me in the hospital, given my pre-existing chest issues. I was SOOOO relieved that the ginger worked to get rid of it so quickly. I had read that ginger has over 100 antiviral components in it, but dry ginger may have fewer of those than fresh ginger, but I would say definitely don't overlook the dry, powdered version if it's all you have!
Buteyko Breathing Method

Tried breathing exercise (buteyko method) where I gently breathe in and out, hold my nose, close my mouth, then walk around the house until I cant breathe any longer. Stand still and count to a minute, then do it again 6 more times. Within a day this has cut my cold/flu/asthma/allergies to 80%. I did it morning and night on an empty stomach. By the 3rd day I am 100% cured.
Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method

I have been using this nebulizer with the peroxide and it's amazing 3-5 times a day. Peroxide is only H202 which is oxygen and where there is enough oxygen no virus or bacteria can grow. I have also a vaporizer that I put the peroxide in and let it run all day and night . This is great for babies and kids thank you for this web site as it is my favorite one.:)

I have to share a wonderful remedy that provided immediate relief and nipped my flu/cold/sore throat or whatever I was coming down with immediately.
In a blender, blend an entire bulb of raw garlic (I know lol that's alot! ), a huge slice of ginger, 3 tablespoons of raw organic honey, a tablespoon of organic cayenne pepper, 4 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar with mothers, 1 lemon squeezed, 2 cups of water.
Drink a sip of this special concoction every few hours (sip at first to make sure your stomach can handle it, and drink more if you can! ). This brought immediate relief to whatever I had going on! I am pretty healthy and typically I have other protocols that I employ (organic supplements), but this year, I am super passionate about using "whole real foods" for my body so that's why I tried this. My only warning is that you will reek/smell like garlic for at least two days, but I was so amazed at how quickly this worked that I had to share this remedy!

Coconut Oil

My ear canals get itchy right before I get sick. Maybe it's dry skin, maybe it's the virus, maybe it's fungal, but this time the hydrogen peroxide has just been making it worse. Then I got the brilliant idea to put coconut oil in, via a Q-tip. Coconut oil is great for dry skin, kills 99.9 % of viruses, and also kills fungi. It worked.
I see here that taking a T or so of coconut oil has helped others, so going to do that now. This is my second day with this year's flu, and it's not bad for me, so far. I'm just achey all over, cranky as hell, and I have to blow my nose a lot. But there's not much sneezing and no coughing at all, and I can't get fevers (wish I could! ) because I'm hypothyroid, but not hypothyroid enough for the MD's to help me.
Honey

Use honey for any viral illness. Start taking it at first sign/symtom. If in doubt research honey and virus and will find out the great benefits of RAW honey.

After 2 days of a progressively worse fever I gave Teds aspirin remedy a shot. I'm happy to say it worked wonders.
I did 4 doses of 500mg aspirin dissolved in half glass of water every 55minutes. I also drank another half glass water or more about 20 minutes after each dose. I went from 102 degree temperature down to 98.6 in 4.5 hours.
Its now the next morning and my temp is normal. I have a little head congestion and a slight cough. I'm going for the apple cider vinegar next!
Thanks Earth Clinic and all you contributors!
Spicy Flu Drink

For the chills:
- 1 cup hot milk
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/4 tsp clove powder
Mix it all up and sip it, it gets rid of the chills, aches and pains. Better than coffee. Try adding nutmeg or cocoa. Especially good with cantaloup and oranges.
Colloidal Silver

YEAH. I had a full-blown flu virus and could barely move for the aches and pains. After day six, I gave up on OTC medicine and turned to colloidal silver. I had been taking it in 5ml doses morning and evening but it clearly wasn't cutting the mustard. I upped the dose to gargling and swallowing 20ml every 3-4 hours, and bought a colloidal silver in nasal spray form to spray up my nose every hour or so. I also nebulised colloidal silver into my infected lungs for 5 minutes morning and night. It's important to treat nose, throat and lungs (and even ears) with colds and flus. By day 2 it felt noticeably better and by day 3 it was pretty much gone! (Note: It's important to drink lots of water and take a good probiotic when ingesting this much silver.)

Flu Shots

Every once in a while I watch the scam artist show called Dr. Oz. So a panel of 4 people were on the show and he asked if they would tell people to get the flu shot. 1st guy worked for the CDC so you know his answer (yes), 2nd was a Dr.that worked with him (yes), 3rd was a man with a brain and said negatives outweigh the positives, and 4th lady said she does not but if you are over 65 years old possibly. Then Dr. Scam said he thinks everyone should get it. I'm just an average evryday person and I just like everyone else can go to the CDC website and read that mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, Msg, binders, fillers, are in the vaccine just to name a few. When I asked a friend of mine who is a College Professor and a Naturopath, also an engineer, he said the flu vaccine crushes the immune system. Poison. And then after after getting the vaccine its only 60% effective. More people than ever are getting sick from it. My kid got the vaccine, broke out in hives the next morning and 3 days later got a upper respiratory infection and missed 5 days of school. Great. Stay healthy all.

Thanks, Ted, for the aspirin suggestion. I had been trying many different remedies for 3 days for my flu (e.g. , ACV/lemon juice/baking soda/cayenne, H2O2, etc. ). Perhaps I kept it from getting worse, but it showed no signs of leaving. Had low-grade fever, headache/sensitive scalp, congestion, cough, aches. Aspirin made a big difference. (I had taken Tylenol before with no change, fyi) I took two 325-mg aspirin after eating last night and had a very bad but productive coughing spell along with a bout of sweating. Had less congestion throughout the night. Slept w/ vaporizer-also good. Took 2 more this morning and had the same thing to a lesser extent -sweating, then slept, then less congestion. Strange that taking aspirin made me sweat, but then I slept and felt better afterwards both times. I know after days of trying too many remedies to list here that it was the aspirin that helped me turn the corner. Now maybe I should go buy some lysine to knock this thing out.
