Top 5 Natural Remedies for Wrinkles

Honey

★★★★★

Honey is a great skin smoother and it's a natural antimicrobial. Massage into the skin in circular motion (this is great for circulation) and leave on as long as you care to (very sticky and may run). Wash off with cool water and pat dry. You should notice immediate smoothing of the skin, including fine lines and pores. It's a humectant and draws moisture to it. You can also make a paste of shea butter and honey. Wonderful!

Anti-Wrinkle Cure
Posted by Sharon (Mi) on 06/09/2015

Hi Georgina,

There's just one thing misleading about using carrot juice topically. Carrots have provitamin A carotenoids, which becomes vitamin A through digestion, not topically. Provitamin A is legally allowed to be labeled as vitamin A because it eventually will become vitamin A once consumed, (key word consumed). Your skin can however absorb true vitamin A, aka retinol, which has been derived from animals (vit A is made in the body, therefore you can distract it from an animal that eats food containing *Pro-vitamin A) but I advise against this because there are many health concerns. So, you must be seeing results from the Vit. C and Vit. E, not from the carrot juice since provitamin A carotenoids don't become vitamin A except through digestion.

I would be careful doing this as I used organic freshly juiced beet juice for natural blush and developed rosacea for the first time in my life. It was the ONLY thing I did different before the rosacea started. (I have been gluten free and high raw vegan and all organic for 15 years and use just coco oil on my face for that time as well - so I really don't think it came from other lifestyle triggers.)

Anyway, after putting organic beet juice on my face I developed what I thought was a rash, but has yet to go away... it's been 6 months now!! :( All that being said, people have always thought I am at least 10 years younger than my age... ladies, there are many other ways to look younger without risking putting certain unknown food bacteria (I am guessing that is what was in the beet juice?) on our faces. I think some food ingredients are perfectly fine to use... but perhaps steer clear of root vegetables that could be bathed with different bacteria, microbial pathogens, and perhaps parasitic eggs or actual parasites

Borax

No worries. Borax is a mineral additive, and has no soap or fragrance in it. "Laundry' aisle is just how it is marketed, despite numerous (! ) other uses. Some of the newer boxes do have a "scented" version so watch out for that. Check ingredients for fragrance if unsure.

It takes a while but it *does* work!

I've been using this for about 6 months now for treating wrinkles and, surprinslgly, it has worked: the lines around my eyes are essentially gone and the ones on my forehead have substantially softened (they were much deeper than the baby crow's feet I had), so maybe there's hope that, eventually, they'll go away, too.

The only downside is, as noted, is that it took 6 months to see any real results, but, man, if you're in no rush and want something that is dirt cheap (it's about $2 for a bottle that will last you months at Wal-Mart) this will, eventually! , do the trick.

Yes, the secret to smooth skin, which is hardly a secret for me is the baking soda and ACV, or baking soda and lemon remedy. I am about 49 years old and still don't have wrinkles. It works better than any cosmetic product I know since it deals directly with the cause, which is restricted capillary flows in the skin due to metabolic acidosis.

Resistance Training for Eyes
Posted by Jane (Mass) on 12/03/2014
★★★★★

I do not have dark circles, however I also exercise my facial muscles. Under the eyes is a big one for me every morning, I use resistance to stretch these muscles so they are draining properly. With age these muscles lose elasticity. Copper/zinc supplements help with retaining elasticity and collagen production. I basically take three fingers on each side under my eyes and pull down while at the same time using those muscles to pull upward, creating resistance for the count of 7, repeat 12 times. This strengthens the muscle. I also do Dr Natura cleanse for parasites 1-2 times a year and drink dandelion root tea with organic cranberry juice (unsweetened) and lemon. This is to cleanse liver, because dark circles could be the result of a liver issue.

I have an empty dropper bottle I got at the health food store for like $2, and have filled it 50-50 with VCO and castor oil. I shake it before use, and have begun using it nightly around my eyes. First few days skin seems a lot softer, but bag and lines are still being worked on. If this can work, I will save myself literally thousands in eye creams over the coming decades!

You absolutely NEED to use the HIGH QUALITY Castor Oil - and Palma Christi IS the best! Do NOT purchase cheap castor oil and use it ongoing. It is NOT a good idea. I doubt if Walmart has Palma Christi. You can purchase it online and it is STILL not very expensive. Again, do NOT go for the "cheap stuff"....it's your skin, it's your body....give it the best! Perhaps then it will not take 6 months to see results. Mostly you really do "get what you pay for"....and we all know that's true.

Multiple Remedies
Posted by Violet Velvet (Oklahoma ) on 07/21/2016

Wrinkle Remedies

Here are a few which are tried and true. However, I would always be careful with these as I am not a Dermatologist and everyone has different skin types, allergies ... Etc... Vitamin C Vitamin E Salystic Acid Retinol Vitamin B3 Vitamin B5 Acai Geranium Purified Squalane And Sunscreen, Sunscreen & More Sunscreen... The higher the SPF, the better off you'll be. If you must get your sun on. Always protect your face and chest. You'll be thankful that you did the older you get. Retinol can be very very harsh too. It is best to have it prescribed if you have a lot of premature aging, as a licensed Dermatologist can help you with this and tell you what is best for your skin type.

With everything else in mind... A healthy diet full of leafy greens, exercise, Lots of water throughout the day, Green Tea and the sunscreen that I had mentioned multiple times above, along with a good nights sleep is going to definitely be your best friend when it comes to all of these things for the long haul. If you can can start this early enough in life and stick with it, you would not even need all of the ingredients listed above later on. Nothing more than just a mild cleanser and moisturizer to fit your skins needs. Such as Cetaphil, or any other mild non scented wash and moisturizer that is not filled with a lot of harsh chemicals and fragrances. I have seen recipes to where you can even make your own. I personally like Renova. I am older though and it's prescribed through my Dermatologist. If I were younger, I would have definitely lived my life like the suggestions that I had given above. I need more help than that due to the fact that I have a lot of sun damage since nobody realized just how terrible that too much sun could be for you when I was younger.

Good Luck!!!

Wrinkle Remedies

I am your age and after a lot of research, I recently tried dry-brushing the skin on my face with a natural bristle brush. You brush section by section, first horizontally, then vertically, then diagonally.

I know that it seems counterintuitive to brush the skin on your face, since we've always been told to be gentle with that skin, but the dry-brushing has helped to soften fine lines by plumping the skin (stimulates collagen/cell turnover) and it gives a nice glow. I follow it with a hyaluronic acid serum, then a moisturizer on top of that.

If you go to YouTube and put 'dry brushing face' in the search box, you'll find some tutorials and additional information. I've also found face exercises beneficial. YouTube is a good source for tutorials on those, too.

I am very pleased so far, and am looking forward to increased results with time because I just recently started. With both the brushing and the exercises, diligence is key. I read that it takes 6-8 weeks to see significant improvement, but I've seen improvement already and it's only been about 2 weeks.

For moisture, I know that many here suggest coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc. but I haven't found them to be all that effective on my skin. I have tried many natural oils but always end up returning to a non-natural moisturizer.

Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Cara (Los Angeles) on 09/06/2013

A warning about hydrogen peroxide on the skin, especially the delicate skin around the eyes: hydrogen peroxide thins the skin and is a bleaching agent. For a period of several months, I used peroxide on my face to clean it and to reduce wrinkles. The result was that the area around my eyes became severely affected with melasma. Basically the skin had thinned so drastically that it was super affected (damaged) by the sun. Luckily I had a great facialist step in to do damage control through the use of gentle peels to bring up the deep damage over a period of about a year. She was SHOCKED when she heard that I had used peroxide on my face. Peroxide is great for the teeth and cleaning cuts but please think twice about damaging your face with it. I'm pretty sure I would have less lines if I had never used it.

Could you tell me how often you do this? And do you focus on just the areas of your skin that have/had wrinkles or do you do your whole face? Is this a daily treatment?

I just recently developed some smile lines that I never had previously (I'm 46). I thought I was immune to wrinkles, though I believe using a tanning bed 3 times a week doesn't help, but so feel the need for the vitamin D in the winter here in Illinois.

Would love a little more info, and if you think it would work for smile lines. Thanks! Tommy

I've found that ghee works well for both moisturizing and for plumping up fine lines. I make my own; it's so easy and inexpensive.

I use it in the evening, so that I don't walk around smelling like a croissant all day. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) :)

I also take a teaspoon of ghee by mouth every day. I use it as a carrier for my turmeric/black pepper/ginger mixture.

I put about a teaspoon of the dry mixture on a soup spoon, then add a teaspoon of ghee and mix it right on the spoon. Then, down the hatch with a water chaser. Good stuff!

Hyaluronic Acid, Sea Salt
Posted by Lisa (Lafayette, La) on 09/08/2010
★★★★★

Ted's Hyaluronic Acid Formula for DDD:

Didn't Ted say 9 grams? I used 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt, and 10 powder filled capsules of HA, 50 mg each, to total 500 mg., in 16 oz. Of COLD refrigerated water, in water bottle. I poured those 2 items in, mixed it up, then put back in fridge for 2-4 hours, depending on what I was doing, I would go into kitchen and shake it quickly, and shove it back in fridge (as per Purebulk's instructions). After doing this for 12-18 hours, (first bottle took 12 hours, second took 18 hours, ) I measured 8 caps with the cap that was on the water bottle, came up to roughly a shot glass, I quess. My hubby takes it 3 times a day, one first thing in morning, one a few hours after lunch, or when he gets home from work around 4, then one right before bed. I cannot stress enough how important it is to get half your weight in ounces of water per day. If you weigh 100 lbs., drink 50 oz water. HA goes hand in hand with water. Without water, it cant do it's job!

My husband (after 5 days) says that his "sticking points" in his back when he bends over, the 2 catches he has had for years, are gone! His knee feels awesome, after also bothering him for years. He is a body builder, and he is able to lift without worrying about the pain.

I have also been on it. My face skin looks prettier, (awesome! ) and I feel like a MILLION BUCKS. I can't explain what that means exactly, except it's nice! I'm 46, fairly good shape, exercise moderately, try to eat right. I am finally getting the water I am supposed to take. Note: Put a squirt of lemon or lime in EACH of your glasses of water for alkalizing purposes - SO important. Skip the baking soda if you have hbp. Switch to Sea salt only. Take an iodine supplement each day, even if it's drops of liquid kelp from health food store. Avoid aspartame like the plague. It literally makes me stupid, I can't think, raging headaches until I detox from it for a couple weeks. Be proactive. It's your body. Put into it what you want to get out of it. God Bless. Lisa

I'm looking for the ultimate skin care/cure for wrinkles and aging skin. What really works to get rid of wrinkles around the face and eyes, etc. We all know that skin ages, and need to learn to be comfortable "in our own skin." However, I'm at an age where I'd like to stop the maintenance and go for prevention. I've researched all kinds of things on the web, but am more confused that ever. What really, really works to correct aging skin? Face lifts, botox, etc. are not an option.

What would a naturopath or physician recommend in terms of a complete skin maintenance routine? I've got the basics down in terms of living a healthy lifestyle (food, water, yoga, exercise, sleep, natural skincare products, etc.) , but with so many products, and so much hype, out there, what really works? What is the simplest, most effective product for the face and eyes?

My skin is in relatively good condition. However, I'm in the sun a lot, and tanned intensely when I was young. I want something that really works. I have tried natural skin care for years, Hauschka, Weleda,B.Bees, etc., as well as Dept. store brands, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Murad, etc. Has anyone really happened on to a real miracle cure, or what's all the hype about various products on-line? I really want to know what others have found out, product comparisons, and if there is something, besides basic maintenance that outdoorsy folks who prefer natural products can use.

Jojoba Oil

For acne, coconut oil is not recommended, it will actually plug your pores and cause more breakouts. Jojoba oil is a long known remedy for acne. It is almost exactly the same composition as our skin's natural oil, so when you apply it, it will actually slow the production of sebum, which causes acne. I didn't believe any oil could help acne..but jojoba does..and removes wrinkles too..try it on the frown marks!

Bill from San Fernando, How often do you recommend to dab 3% Peroxide?

* After showers and cleaning the eye sockets throughly, I also dabbed 3% Hydrogen Peroxide carefully around the eye socket and eyelids (don't get it in your eyes) to both help kill bacteria etc and to also help oxygenate and revive the skin in that area.

Hi Susan... It's best to just lightly dab and spread the hydrogen peroxide in and around the eye sockets with a fingertip after showers with your eyes closed or do this when you are taking breaks from from the oil application. I did it about once or twice a day roughly. I just rubbed HP lightly over the area, making sure not to get any in the eyes.

Sounds promising Bill.... Did you dilute the HP? I have tried the VCO with the Castor oil and actually it works great because the Castor Oil becomes easier to spread. I have tried the cling film on it as someone suggested it. I will see how it progresses. I look quite young, a pity these bags under my eyes! I read it can be a result of dry eyes, also iodine deficiency.... My eyes don't seem to be dry anymore and I am taking iodine.

I have also been learning of amazing health and skin benefits of castor oil. However I did read a caution that buying the " cheap stuff in the brown bottle" was not a good idea. Of course, that was what I had in my cupboard. The cold-pressed and cold-processed is the superior oil, which you find at health food or vitamin stores. It costs more, but lasts a very long time.

Hi, be careful with Castor Oil on your eyes. Although quite a few people here have had good results my eyes got swollen over and over again, no idea why as I put all kinds of other creams on them without a problem. I never noticed any difference with wrinkles but then maybe I didn't try long enough. Drinking a lot of water may help to reduce wrinkles (although I don't notice much difference), taking MSM or Hyaluronic Acid which are both very good for the skin, VCO (although again I haven't noticed any difference), not using soap often, even moisturizing, natural ones.... Eating healthy food, plenty of fresh air, exercise, happy life.... All this will make you look healthier, even if you still have wrinkles! And make sure that you eat enough fat! A lot of people have been made afraid of fat and that will be a problem in the years to come as our body needs good fats like VCO, animal fats, olive oil, butter...... At 53 I don't have many wrinkles and I have just discovered that I have no gallbladder stones. I think that the reason is that I have never been afraid of eating fat! One more thing.... Get enough rest!

Hi Sandy,

I am familiar with the items Dee spoke of. I've used both myself.

The "smoothies" she referred to are called "Frownies". I get them via Amazon. They'll help with wrinkles, but you have to use them faithfully, otherwise the wrinkles will reappear.

The "Derma Roller" she mentioned is also something that I've purchased via Amazon. It's a little wheel with hundreds of tiny needles on it with a handle similar to that of a shaving razor.

They come in different sizes and speaking from my own experience, I would recommend starting with the .5mm needles. Once your skin has adapted to the .5mm (I would estimate that to take approximately a month or so)you can increase to the 1.0mm version if you'd like.

Take some time to read the Amazon reviews. You'll see that many skipped the .5mm and went straight to the 1.0mm with good results, while others started at .5mm and stayed there - they were content with the results and felt they didn't need to increase to 1.0mm.

I, too, am an advocate of hyaluronic acid serum. Of all the products I have tried (and I've tried dozens and dozens over the years), the serum, by far, provided the best results.

You'll still need to moisturize, though. The serum sinks right in and doesn't leave the face moist/dewy. That's where either castor oil or whatever moisturizer you typically use, comes in. You apply it a few minutes after the serum is dry.

If you're reluctant to go the Derma Roller/needle route, I also highly recommend dry-brushing the face as an alternative. The same principal as the roller applies - it roughs up the skin's surface to stimulate collagen production. It works quite well! I dry-brush much more often than I Derma Roll.

A natural bristle brush is very inexpensive and the method itself is very simple and less time consuming than the rollers. In a quick back and forth motion (similar to polishing shoes), you brush each section of your face in different directions. For example, starting with the forehead, you would brush one side of your forehead in an up and down motion for a count of ten. Then in that same spot, brush in a side to side motion, also for a count of ten. Then you do the same in both diagonal directions (like an X).

Do the same to each section of the face, except the under eye area. I brush all of my neck as well.

When you're done, just as with the roller method, you apply your HA serum, then moisture, etc.

Good luck! It's certainly a process, but the results are worth it.

Hi R.A. Have you researched facial exercises? I have had surprisingly wonderful results from doing them. Eyes will open, eyebags will decrease as the first noticeable results, cheeks lift and plump to pull skin back up which has sagged down over jaw and into neck. Lip lines have diminished greatly! It's natural and also helps to remove toxins from the tissues and your complexion changes and evens out and you have a gradual youthful look developing. I could write a very long post on this however, I would suggest you reaearch a "specific" program not just do free exercises off the internet. The face muscles all need to build together properly. I am in my 7th week and could not be happier, the face will lift in stages gradually, but the eyes respond very quickly, within a week or less. I don't think we are allowed to advertise names so I won't. I will include 2 links at a forum if you would like to read others comments on what they have done. Good information to start out your research with. Facial exercises done properly do NOT cause wrinkles, over time the muscles build, they learn to snap back to a flat position again and smooth out the skin. Also doing your own facial massage pinching the skin encourages a thickening of the skin, No it doesn't stretch it. I've used many topical expensive skin care lines and they only treat the skin, I've never had results like what the exercises have given to me, likely cause now I'm working the muscles beneath the skin which encourage circulation and good things to feed the face. Good luck, hope this helps in some way.

I am 40 and have used soo many different skin care products... Some of them very expensive. The closest thing to a miracle I have experienced is ACV (either full strength or 1:1 with water) as a toner, applying with a cotton ball (not dripping wet-squeeze out the excess ACV before applying), especially on eye wrinkles. You must be careful applying around the eyes because the ACV fumes are strong. I close my eyes while applying and then fan them with my hands until the ACV dries. I follow immediately with VCO. My eyes look 5 years younger in just 3 weeks. It has also helped greatly with my dark circles and the darkness I had on either side of nose in my eye socket area. I can't recommend this enough!

I have a good success with virgin Coconut oil, it's a great sunscreen, prevents burning and helps to remove bumbs I have had since I was a kid on the back of my arms. So I don't agree with your take on coconut oil.

Mark, I have to admit I hadn't tried coconut oil for acne, I only took the advice of my daughter who works as a cosmetician. I have since used coconut oil on blemishes and found it works very well! It also is the best thing I have ever used for acne scarring, the scars peel off. Thanks so much for your comment. I'm a new fan of coconut oil.

Hi Bill, Your opinions are highly appreciated. On this subject, my questions are, to start with is it advisable to mix equal quantity of VCO and castor oil in a small bottle and use one finger after shaking the bottle and doing what you have done by mixing on the two fingers. Secondly the castor oil which I have is refined and says not for medicinal use, is it ok to use. Then, H2O2 which I have is not the food grade and has stabilizer in it, is it ok to use.

Also I would like your opinion on H2O2 which is not food grade and has stabilizer in it, should it be used for internal purposes since the food grade is not available.

Thanks a lot. Baldev

Hello -- in response to your question about using castor oil around the eyes. I have used virgin pure castor oil (this is the only kind you should use ... you can find it at your health food store for a low price) on my eyelids each night. It helps me sleep. I also use an eye mask that keeps the oil warm on my skin and probably helps with absorbtion. I have never had a problem, even after using this remedy probably more than a hundred times in the past year. Even if I apply too much oil, and I wake up the next day with oil in my eyes, it clears up quickly. My lashes have grown longer and my brows are back to the way they looked in my 20s, no kidding (I'm in my 50s). Before using castor oil, my brows had grown progressively thinner and sparser, to the point that I was using makeup to fill them in. This just isn't needed any longer.

Try getting a good padded eye mask that you won't mind getting the oil on. I have a brand that I got on amazon which is called D***y. For about $18, this mask will last you years. Don't launder, but hand wash. The mask really helps the eyes relax with the castor oil and helps the oil to absorb well.

Finally, check out facial smoothies products. These are strips that you apply to your wrinkles. They smooth out the wrinkles over night.

My protocol for wrinkles now is this: I apply pure hyalauronic acid with a drop of castor oil over all my skin, let it dry (the hyaluronic acid dries quickly), then apply facial smoothy strips over my laugh lines and over my frown lines. Then I apply pure castor oil to my eyelids and smooth it up into my brows and down so it hits my eyelashes. I put on my facemask and slumber. The next morning, I have no wrinkles.

Once a week I will begin to use the derma rollers. There are several brands of these. You must go gently with these, but these have really worked, too, when I have tried them on my deeper laugh lines, but you must use them as instructed, I.e., no more than once a week, no more than four or five swipes across the wrinkles, and then cover with a good healing serum (or castor oil).

I hope this helps. In short, I have had no problem using pure unrefined castor oil around my eyes at night.

Hi, I have been using the Aloe Vera Plant for nearly 15 years and got great results and positive comments by how young I look. I am 61 years and most people think I am 50. I am very happy with my own home made cream and will keep using it.

Thank for reading, Sirra

I make my own sea salt & VCO scrub to use in the shower to exfoliate and soften all over. Dry brushing and cold showers will make your skin baby soft & pink. For my face I wash my face, neck and hands with baking soda and then I use ACV as a toner. The ACV can be diluted but it is like a natural chemical peel. But do not go out in the direct sun with it on because it will increase the redness of your skin or do anything to sweat because it will sting your eyes. After the ACV I use VCO as my only moisturizer which is all natural. I also put my green or white tea bags on my eyes as I drink my tea each day. I keep a small daily bottle of green tea to mist my face. For age spots I put hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and tape to the spot overnight. I have people tell me daily that I do not look 50 and I tell them I do not feel 50.

Thanks for your suggestions.
OK. ACV= Apple Cider Vinegar. What does VCO mean? Vit. C Oil? Not sure what this is?

Here's what I'm dong so far. I have made up my own lotion of: Pure Aloe Vera Gel, Jojoba oil, emu oil, Vit. E Oil, essential oil of Rose Otto, essential oil of honey. I plan to supplement it with Hauschka, Weleda, and Sage (from Canada) products, and Sea Butter. Will let you know how it goes.

I have made a spritzer of: Well water, Rose water, Orange Blossom Water, essentail Rose Oil and Honey oil

I will also use these treatments, along with coconut oil, for my body and hair. For conditioning and covering gray, I have made a mixture of cheap beer, sage, Rosemary, lavender, and rose petals, which I boil down--then add essential oil of Rose, and spritz onto hair. I then add coconut oil to hair, wrap, and leave overnight, and wash with Shea Butter Shampoo with honey in the a.m. It "softens" the gray, but so far it is sill visible.

I will try the face exercises. They could be key.

I will also try ACV diluted, and rotate with h.peroxide with rose water as toner. I am also trying the oil pulling method for teeth, gums, and breath. I am drinking coffee, green tea, nettle tea, and ACV with honey, along with a healthy diet. Of course yoga, hiking and biking.

Will let folks know how things go. Still have mild streaks of gray, which are getting blended in with my hair--but are still there. My skin is in good condition--but still have the 11's (elevens) between the eyebrow, and slight wrinkles around my eyes when laughing. Coloring or using henna would get rid of any gray, and Botox would get rid of the 11 (elevens) between the eyes, and slight wrinkles. Is there any natural product that does this extreme stuff ? Still looking for the magic silver "bullet,"

I love the idea that I am aging gracefully and naturally. I love the idea of becoming and elder--and of slowly developing a full head of silver hair as I do not dye or use chemicals. However, if there are natural ways to at least ease those "frown" lines. Again, I will try the facial exercises. This may be the key, but days are busy, and I'd really have to make a point of fitting them in. Still, I will see how it works, nd will check back with my results. Thanks for the links.

Am grateful for peoples' responses, thoughts, suggestions, comments, and this website.

Ellen, I am 14 years older than you but I am going to give your suggestion a try! Maybe I go on with Bill's coconut oil and castor oil suggestion but first I will dab a bit of ACV, maybe diluted in water as in the past I had the idea that ACV undiluted was maybe a bit too harsh for my skin.
