Turmeric and Cumin

I have been looking for this combination of turmeric and cumin. I used it with sesame oil for internal and external application for an infected mosquito bite, which produced a skin lesion about 50mm across on my ankle.

The turmeric and cumin was simmered with sesame oil and black pepper corns for ten minutes. The lesion started to heal immediately and disappeared totally in three days. These herbs together are like magic bullets. I am using it now for an abscess on a broken tooth.

Yes, MtM, I love to experiment with all these wonderful ideas on EC, but if nothing works for a particular ailment, I tend to go back to the Clay. I've seen it work too many times to ignore for long!

My daughter had an infected big toe. It was swollen and very painful to the touch. I mixed equal parts of French green clay and water into a small mug. When the clay was the consistency of mud, I spread some on her toe. I covered that with a piece of paper towel and covered that with plastic. I used cohesive tape to keep it all secure. I used this protocol over night a few nights and for a while during the day for a couple of days. After a few days there was no more pain, heat, or swelling!

French green clay is one of my favorite remedies now! (Thanks Mmsg! )

I love inexpensive, easy, safe and simple remedies!

5 drops of Oregano Oil topped off with a carrier oil (I use EVOL or Coconut oil) in a vegetable capsule 3x a day will murder whatever nasty infection is creeping around in your body. I swear by it!! I can feel the change in my body after the first dose. Everyone needs it in their medicine cabinet, right next to the Tea Tree & Peppermint 👌🏻

Boric Acid

Boric acid is the ingredient in an eye wash, so I don't think that it would be entirely inappropriate to use on the skin. It might not be so hot internally though.

YES! After calling several walk in clinics after my BF got bit by a feral cat we feed, I went to Earth Clinic and searched for cat bites. We tried the turmeric powder suggestion (after applying diluted grape seed oil extract first). Worked like a charm. One week later you can't even tell my BF was bitten and it never got close to being infected!

You do need colloidal silver as you surmise. And you will need a lot. See my Video on top of Earth Clinic home page and how to make it is simple. A devise costs less than 100 dollars. Also I wrote an article on CS under the Remedies section here on EC.

Cipro: I looked up to see if this was the same antibiotic that I am taking and it is Ciprofloxin. I was taking Cleocin for 4 months and it killed off my bug ..initially they all work but then I have a swab done and I have a new pathogen. My latest is the one that causes Gangrene.( pathogen Aeruginosa).and all they can offer me now are daily injections of the following : ceftazadine, timentin, tobramycine or gentamycine.

I hate needles and have in my mind somewhere that colloidal silver kills this pathogen..If this is so, can someone tell me where in Australia I could obtain this without going into bankruptcy ?

Our local health food shops charge over the top premium prices to buy anything and I thought awhile back you could make it yourself ? Can it be done and how ? Thanks.

My 84 year old father was visiting and had an infected finger, sort of like an infected hangnail. The finger was red and a little swollen and it looked like it had some puss. I put a charcoal/flax poultice on his finger for the day. By evening, when I checked there was A LOT of puss. (The charcoal draws the infection to the surface.) I sterilized a needle and gently poked a hole in the skin, which was soft from wearing the poultice all day. I got out a lot of thick, opaque, puss. It was pretty gross! I put a new poultice on it over night. It looked pretty good in the morning but I went ahead and dressed it again and send him with some poultices "to go" since he was returning home that day.

A few months ago my father had scraped his arm and it wasn't healing well and was inflamed looking. I put charcoal poultices on it day and night for several days and it improved so much and finally did heal nicely.

First thing I would do is get off the Cipro. It can cause some very nasty side effects. Some of them permanent. I know two people, one partially disabled from it, who had severe reactions. I would only take it if I had something that wouldn't respond to any other antibiotic. I personally would use clay and colloidal silver topically You can use the silver for all or part of your liquid to hydrate the clay. I would also take traumeel (homeopathic, either drops or tablets) to promote faster healing, especially if you tend to heal slowly.

I had been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and the doc told me this was a BIG mistake. "stick to antibacterial soap and water). Well been on Cipro and ointment for two days and not gone yet. Doc says it may take 10 days because near the bottom of a leg is a hard place to heal. Any suggestions from you all?

Castor Oil Packs are near miraculous!!

My 12 yr old son caught his big toe under a door and part of his nail ripped off. He was in a alot of pain, and is somewhat of a nervous nellie-patient, so I only had time to wash it with warm soapy water and then lather it with manuka honey and turmeric. While this worked great for a week or two, there was a minor infection underneath the nail and a scab, that he would not let be touched. Castor Oil packs to the rescue! I was able to wrap his toe in flannel and then some plastic wrap, with a hot water bottleon top for 1hr two nights in a row. This was able to turn the skin pink and healthy immediately, and then the scab and torn nail flaked off on their own the next day. The packs were able to heal from the inside. I never woud have even heard of them without this site. I luv EC!!

Apple Cider Vinegar, Cayenne Pepper and Turmeric

This is my recipe for an infection (of any kind) and general well being.

1st Step:

1/4 cup boiling H2O, 1 Tablespoon ACV, Cayenne to taste and a squirt of Honey. I make a tea from this. Let it cool and drink down. This is fast and easy.

2nd Step:

Take a large serving spoon add honey and 1/4-1/2 teaspoon Turmeric. Mix with a smaller spoon and gobble down.

The Cayenne in the tea drink will support the Turmeric/Honey mix. Otherwise if you only want to do step 2 then add Cayenne to that.

Chase with water.

I have had a hard year with a wandering itchy rash and many changing symptoms and plan to visit your clinic. While in a villiage near Tasala in NSTammerat a lady saw my weeping sores on my feet and went off and got me a bright yellow powder and mixed it with coconut oil and applied a thick paste on the feet.

Wthin a few days the sores had dried, but the itch still means I scratch them ( not hard) in deep sleep, and they open up very quickly again.

The powders name she called "supan'', said as in Supan Buri. She said the supan was a type of tree. She pulverizes and dries its inner bark to a powder.

Old sanskrit defines 'Suphan' as gold. I can find no other reference to it except this colour. Its a very effective skin drying agent, and so cheap she gave me a pack.

EC: Hi Dean,

Thank you for your wonderful feedback!

As an FYI, Earth Clinic does not own or operate any clinics in Thailand or elsewhere in the world. It is solely a web site based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Please do let us know if someone is using the Earth Clinic name to operate some kind of a clinic.

There all kinds of great natural anti bacterial supplements available for this type of situation. Colloidal Silver (10ppm take several Tbsp/day) available at any healthfood store works great topically and internally. Olive leaf extract is also very good for infections. Try to find the highest potency with 18-20% oleorupin. With these you should be able to knock out the infection in a week or so.

Some antibiotics that work when all else fails are: lugol's iodine, used for decades before antibiotics took the spotlight. Colloidal silver or ionic silver help make other antibiotics work more effectively. Garlic and ginger are traditional Chinese herbs/foods that are always good because they kill, fungus, bacteria and viruses, so are broad spectrum. Probiotics such as kimchee, sauerkraut, kefir and acidophilus, all fight invaders on your behalf. 80% of our immunity is due to proper gut microbes like acidophilus and bifidobacteria. I would have to disagree with the "full strength" comment when taking OO sublingually...I have tried this method and even 2 drops is beyond anyones tolerance. I found it best to dilute in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVO) at a ratio of 5:1.

Sublingual adminstration is best as it bypasses the GI tract and is therefore better absorbed. OO is serious stuff and needs to be respected as such. My advice would be to experiment with a one drop mixed with 2 drops of EVO. Try it that way and you will see why it needs to be @ a 5:1 ratio. I made the mistake of 2 drops straight and I was in pain beyond belief, and I LOVE hot spicy food but this was unbearable. Start slowly and see what your tolerence is....

@Joi from MN, the best way to take Oil of Oregano is under the tongue, full strength. Although it is VERY strong, and yes it can "bite" you. There are many sites that state taking it under the tongue for maximum results. Extra strength & Ultra Strength Oil of Oregano should be diluted if you are using as a topical application (rubbing it into skin). But internally it doesn't have to be diluted.

Cat Bite Infection

Two items will work wonders: For bites use echinacea, an herb. Buy the extract and apply onto white cloth or white paper towel and let dry against the bite. Apply ten drops more and let dry. Do it again.

One spider bite case I came across, I had the application on the bite (neck) for a dozen applications over a twenty four hour period.

While this poultice is working, take five drops of the echinacea in a glass of water and drink over an hour. An hour later another five drops in a glass of water and drink. I learned the amazing wonder of echinacea anti venom effect reading a book written by a Texas doctor who used it for any spider bite and even snake bites. The book was written about 1910. (Certainly I'm not saying to ignore going to an emergency room in case of any bite such as snake or dangerous spider.)

And also don't forget colloidal silver which can kill virus, fungus and bacteria. Apply topically with the same technique as echinacea discussed above. Also drink two tablespoons every waking hour for two days... Longer if the infection has been present for over a month. In the case of a long term infection the "bug" could have gone systemic and so I would keep using the silver or two months to make sure the infection is killed.

The bite you describe would have me using both echinacea and the silver. But if you can't get one, use the other. Echinacea also works great on ANY bite that I've come across... Any insect and when I get odd "itches" on tops of feet or hands, legs etc. , I just drip some echinacea on top of irritated area (any itching spot) and let the drops dry. Ten minutes later I re apply. It will dry slightly "tacky" but after the second application, the itching is gone.

Re: cat bites. I have had many rescue cats and not many bites at all. The ones treated at hospital took weeks and were unpeasant. But here is THE remedy. Would you believe next morning you can hardly discern the bite, all looks good and normal, no pain? The remedy is good quality turmeric. Stick your affected part into the powder and press it on right away. The bleeding will stop, the pain disappears. I always have turmeric in at least two places in the house. Any bleeding will be stopped. Antibiotics suppress the immune system so govern yourself with common sense. Next morning I could hardly see the tooth mark. By the way, when a cat bites, something is wrong with the animal and try to find out what you can do to help. Turmeric is a gift from the gods! Om

Thank you for including complete details. So often on this site these are not included. I will try this tonight. I have had a large infection behind my ear for a week now and started making a paste with activated charcoal, about 5 drops of cayenne tincture, and 5 drops of Goldenseal and enough water to make a paste. Last night I left it on all night and woke the most comfortable I've been. The infection area has reduced significantly. The "center" of it is still swollen but pain is gone and I just feel healthy again and clear thinking. I'll try the flaxseed and expect it will finish it off tonight.

Don't take the Cipro. It is a member of the flouroquinolones class of antibiotics. These antibiotics cause significant damage to many systems in your body for a significant percentage of people who take them. The percentage of people harmed is much higher than the few percent reported on the black box warnings. The effects are commonly seen weeks or months later and may require more than one round of treatment before they are seen. My daughter spent nearly 2 years suffering horribly from this drug. There are other much safer more effective antibiotics.

When my oldest son was a young boy, he contracted a serious infection in the palm of his hand. He got up one morning with red streaks running up his arm past his elbow. I knew the seriousness of that, called the pediatrician, but the earlist they could get him in would have been 4 that afternoon, and I knew that would be too late. The only other alternative was take him to the ER. With two additional children under the age of 5 and no car, ER wasn't an option. I had read somewhere how to make a charcoal/flaxseed poultice for infections, and decided to give it a try.

It worked SO WELL! I applied warmed poultices to the palm of my son's hand every 10-15 minutes (starting at about 10 that morning) and could physically see the red streak being pulled down his arm by the poultice after just a few applications. By about 2 that afternoon, there was no redness in the arm at all, and he was touching the area around the wound in his palm saying, "Gee, it doesn't even hurt any more. "

The toughest part was actually calling and cancelling the appointment I'd made with the pediatrician. I was excitedly sharing the good news with the nurse when she interrupted me, told me that what I was telling her wasn't possible, that I would be "irresponsible" if I didn't bring my son in to see the doctor, because I'd described a serious, life-threatening condition to her. Even when I told her again that the poultice had worked amazingly well, she seemed not to hear me, and when she began to call me a negligent parent I told her she was simply being a very rude nurse, ended our relationship with that office, and hung up the phone.

Here's the recipe for a charcoal flaxseed poultice:

Grind 1-3 TBSP flaxseed in a blender. Mix with 1-3 TBSP activated charcoal powder.
Mix with 1/3 to 1 cup of water. Let set for about 10 minutes OR heat till bubbly and remove from heat, allowing mixture to gel. (For smaller amount, the ratio is 1TBSP/1TBSP/1/3 cup water; larger amount, 3TBSP/3TBSP/1 cup. )

Cut a rectangle of paper toweling twice the size of the finished "square" that you need--fold the rectangle in half to make your square, then open out again. Spread about 1/4 inch of the poultice mixture over half the paper toweling; fold the remaining half over to make a square "sandwich" with the poultice as the "filling. " Cut a piece of plastic wrap (a plastic sandwich bag also works nicely) about ½ inch larger (all around) than your poultice. Place the poultice on the area to be covered, lay the plastic wrap over that, and then tape in place with cloth tape, or in a pinch, use bandaids.

These types of poultices work very well when left in place overnight. Infections are often gone by morning. If using overnight, or for a long period throughout the day, after securing plastic wrap with tape, wrap area with an ace bandage to hold all securely in place. (Obviously, that's not possible on every area of the body; if you can't ace-bandage leaving the area securely covered with just the plastic will work just fine.

If doing an emergency, intensive care poulticing, the way I did with my son, don't use an ace bandage; keep the area heated constantly by soaking a washcloth or other absorbent material in very hot water, and hold it in place over the plastic- covered poultice until the cloth cools off, (10 minutes) then re-soak in hot water, and keep re-applying for as long as necessary to see some improvement. Depending on severity of infection, the poultice itself can be changed/renewed if necessary after several applications of heated washcloth have been applied.

Happy Poulticing!

Hi, I am very new to this site. I'm going to enjoy reading it though. My remedy might be old news here. I was in my 20's and nursing a baby boy. I took a round of anti-biotics to cure my mastitis infection. Several months later I had another breast infection. This time the infection was much worse.

My husband talked to a Native American woman at work who gave some great advice for infections. I visited my Dr.again and again she gave me antibiotics. But before I took them I thought I would give the alternative way a try. The information this woman gave my husband worked!! I took a clean potato and cut a nice slice from the middle and put it on my breast infection. I think the slice was about a quarter to a half inch thick. I put the slice directly on my infected breast and held it in place with my nursing bra. I woke up the next morning and ALL the infection was gone. I did not use the antibiotics for mastitis again. I hope this helps!

Sinus Flooding
Posted by Dave (Fountain Inn, Sc) on 10/02/2011

For 19 years I have used colloidal silver to kill infections of all kinds. It is very effective when applied into the sinus, sore throat and even infected ears or eyes. I give bottles away to friends. You can buy it, usually at highly inflated prices, at your local health food stores. I make my own with a little "generator"... 27 volts of battery power using pure silver "rods" (about the thickness of paper clips) into warm water, two cups of purified water and eight minutes later, you have a cloud of silver in the glass cup. I dilute again with another eight cups of purified water. At that point you cannot see the silver or taste the silver.

You will be amazed at how it will knock out a sore throat. I gargle twice 30 minutes apart. That kills 90 percent of all throat problems. To get into the sinus most effectively I use an ear syrenge and gently squirt into both sinus passages. The dominately infected side will sting. But the second time you reapply (best after 20 minutes or so) there will be no stinging. Again that kills most sinus infections. Over the years I know that I might have to keep at the infection for 4 or 5 applications. Remember viruses sometimes come with a protective coating. Those kind must get doused with silver more than the non coated kind. If I use a "dropper" to drip into the sinus, that method does not really get the silver all through the sinus passages. Best to put 20 drops in palm of hand and sniff deeply to get "way back" into the sinus area. Again, the ear syrenge is best. One light squirt as I sniff deeply will pull the liquid deeply into the sinus area. I lean my head back and let the silver drain back into the throat and swallow. This has been my preferred method for 16 years in dealing with sinus infections. I used to get four really bad colds a year with one or two of them getting into the lungs. I have only had perhaps five infections in the past 10 years that were "fierce" and even then the silver has really helped keep them under some managable control. Three of them were treated for three weeks. Only two got to the respiratory.

If the infection has gotten to the upper respiratory, I use a mist producting machine and of course I put silver solution into the "pan" and I breath the warm mist deeply into the lungs. That normally takes 5 applications daily for 3 or four days.

For infections that have gone "systemic" or body wide, I would take about a quarter of a cup of silver solution on an empty stomach twice daily. Ending a system wide infection may take six months to kill throughout the body. One systemic infection I came across was very dramatic in demonstrating silver's effectiveness. Patient had a bite on his back (not sure what bit him) and within 3 days swelling and pain had migrated five inches into the shoulder and neck. Months it stayed there and patient lost all energy. He could not work. 4 expert MDs later and after five months the condition had only worsened. Appled silver solution with DMSO to affected neck. Only one treatment. He took silver internally twice a day for six months. In only one week he could tell that his energy was returning. He went back to work in about 2 weeks and no symptoms in a month.

I do not take silver daily. I take it only if I suspect an infection. If I have an eye infection I only use silver for two applications in a day and only for two days. Skip a week. Then I reapply.

Silver can kill virus, bacteria and fungus.

To get to an infection under the skin, I like to use silver solution mixed with an equal amount of DMSO, an effective solvent used universally by Vets. (We are animals too.)

No, my skin has not turned blue.
