Slowing Cataract Progression: Evidence-Based Natural Remedies

Cataracts:

Lemon juice or a dozen lemon drops (+/-) in a little water (boiled and cooled to room temperature) and wash your open eyes with it. As your eyes get better it will sting less and less. Sometime in the beginning of last century there was a doctor who dissected both normal and cataractic eyes. The striking difference he found was the lack of vitamin C in the middle of the cataractic eyes. This you can do forever.

Castor oil also works as it has a lot of omega oils. But you need to make sure it comes from a reputable source. That means that it probable brings a certificate of analysis with it. The reason being that some of the producers may not have the means/habit of being thorough about its purity. If you can get it from a chemists that is ideal.

The ideal is probably, much later on after recovery, and only every so often to put a few castor oil drops before bedtime.

What I found is that the reversal has to be maintained and every case is different. So you need to pay attention to your individual needs.

To be safe you do not put anything in your eyes that you would not eat/drink. (the inverse is not true! :D)

Serrapeptase is really good. Make sure you are not (at the same time) taking meds to thin the blood.

You should also eat raw leaf greens + 1 carrot (medium size - there are daily limits - this is safe) + green apple. And whatever other raw (organic preferably) veg or fruit you wish. You can either do a smoothie or juice it.

Another important thing is to do eye exercises (never force). You will find useful ones on youtube.

Don't even think of trying dmso in concentrated form for cataracts! it burns. Dmso dehydrates the skin in seconds this is why straight dmso stings like crazy when applied to skin. Dmso must be diluted at least 50 percent before use. All dmso is 99.85% pure. The stuff from the feed store is just fine. Same purity. A better way to take the dmso might be to drink it or apply it topically to your skin. Dmso travels around going to where it is needed quite easily.

As for cataracts and eye health you are not getting enough antioxidants. The corneas have a blood filtering mechanism called the blood corneal barrier. It prevents impurities found in the blood from entering the eyes and clouding them. molecules of most antioxidants are too big to flow through the blood corneal barrier. On the other hand the eyes need nutrients and especially oxygen which are impaired by blood conditions like rouleaux. This is a fancy word for thick sticky blood cells all clumped together.

The capillaries are so tiny that blood cells must pass single file. When blood cells are stuck together like glue they can not pass through the capillaries. Now think about that a minute. If your blood cells are all stuck together how can they oxygenate various parts of the body like the corneas? they cant pass through and deliver oxygen at a cellular level. Lacking adequate blood flow through the corneas means chronic low oxygen levels in the corneas. this brings on free radical damage then the corneas start clouding up with cellular debris. Reverse all that by changing your diet to lots of fresh raw vegetables full of antioxidants, lots of super oxide dismutase a free radical scavenger, n-acetyl cysteine and the most powerful antioxidant known for eye health astaxanthin. This stuff is very good for the eyes. I highly urge you to do it every day. Astaxanthin has a very small molecule size meaning it slips right through the blood corneal barrier with ease. Astaxanthin is 50 times more powerful than vitamin c for eye health. You are very deficent on vitamin c by the way!!! Now if you are a smoker then that is where 99.9 percent of your problem originates. Cigarette smoke causes the capillaries to constrict and even further limiting the amount of oxygen your corneas are receiving to practically nothing.

So what else unsticks blood cells and cleans the blood of unwanted debris? Serrapeptase. It scrubs blood cells and cleans out the trash found floating in the blood steam. This means having cleaner blood and better oxygen delivery. Sound like a good idea? See a naturopath if you can, your eyes are very important. Dr. Morton Walker in his book on DMSO suggests to put a drop of DMSO into the eye with a cataract, for a period of time. I am about to try it, but wonder if anyone has had an experience with it. This would be food grade 99.999% pure and not the stuff one buys as a solvent from the hardware store.

Stephen, can you tell us what the 18 remedies are? And do you know if any of them dissolve eye floaters too?

Cataracts are the result of the inability to properly digest certain types of protein. Any remedy that will absorb or break down surface proteins will alleviate cataract growth and/or dissolve them completely. Castor oil would work, but even iodized salt will work.

There are far more than 18 effective treatments for cataracts, but then again, health care insurance and physicians frown on people treating themselves. Not to mention the FDA is strictly against home remedies.

Your accelerated heart rate may quite likely be due to your being allergic to the castor oil. Have read in many journals that one way to test food allergy is to take your pulse before and again after eating a food. If it increases that's a very good indication you are allergic. I have found that to be a great indicator. So since you absorb the castor oil through your skin it would react the same way. I am allergic myself to Castor Oil, otherwise would try it for cataracts but think I'll try the carnosine approach but will definitely muscle test before putting in my eyes. Cold pressed castor oil daily five times a week before bed has helped a lady here on EC. However it took three years and all was clear. Operations carry their own risk. I nearly lost a good eye due to a clumsy surgeon.

Raw unheated honey dissolves in the eye and removes diseases. I would use natural homeopathic eye drops as well.

Yes, what happened? Did the right eye clear up? I would really like to find something that helps to dissolve those proteins rather than go under the knife.

There is a nature article that says that a steroids based eye drop has been shown to work but of course is still in animal trials but I happen to have cataracts NOW.

Has anyone had any success with ANYTHING? I've also read about the DMSO drops and MSM drops. I've been using the Life Extension Brite Eyes III drops for months but have seen zero change.

Anyone got anything new that actually works?

Sorry to hear of your injury to your eyes. Some time ago a lady from Vanc. Island posted that she used cold pressed castor oil on her cataracts five times a week for three years and she was free of them. Castor oil is so good for the eyes in my experience and regrows lashes, too.

Maybe this is a consolation for you. As for the dentist ... that's why I don't see them.

I have cataracts from dental xrays. The machine wasnt working properly, so she ramped it up and hit me again. Ive been doing many things, diet, drops, etc. and had stopped the progression. Recently, a dentist claimed he HAD to xray my teeth. I fought it, but finally gave in. Immediately, my vision began to fail in both eyes, but the dentist got to make his $200 for xrays. You can make your own cataract/macular degeneration eye drops: My eye surgeon (God) would not give me an Rx for these eye drops--he thought it was homeopathic nonsense. However, you can make your own.

• 1/2 oz. 99.99% DMSO
• 1/2 oz. distilled water
• 2-3 pinches finely ground glutathione powder. Some people use MSM instead of DMSO.

Boil the glass dropper and the bottle to sterilize.

These don't sting my eyes, but they may sting yours.

I had cataract surgery on one eye and this formula clouded that lens: DMSO is a solvent. I wish I'd never had the surgery but allowed my son to talk me into it.

You can also make your own liposomal glutathione. One doctor is reversing macular degeneration with glutathione injections but the liposome form is even more powerful. You can buy all the equipment you need for less than the cost of one Dr.'s appointment.

If you want to make your own liposomes, you'll find plenty of YouTube videos showing you how. I use sunflower lecithin instead of the soy the videos use. Also, you need to process glutathione for about 30 minutes as it takes longer to encapsulate than vitamin C.

How much Cayenne pepper do you take at a time? I've read two Ebooks on its advantages but I have a Hiatus hernia and it really inflamed it. I wanted to start giving it to my husband who has high Blood pressure but then read several articles saying it was dangerous so I didn't go ahead. I'd like to know more as the meds he is on aren't good and I'm always concerned he will have a stroke. I must say, Meyer I used them, they really cleared my sinuses in double quick time, not something I was expecting but very welcome.

Judye, if you are still with us, here is a great suggestion. Instead of Coumadyn or other drug for thinning blood, trying taking a cool cayenne capsule after a meal. Cayenne naturally thins the blood without harmful side effects. I've used it for years. However, the capsule became too disturbing so I now sprinkle a little in my early lemon/lime juice/a little maple syrup with warm water (liver cleanse). It really helps and prevents strokes.

I tried the Castor Oil in my eyes and each time my heart rate accelerated so I had to stop. Anyone know why this would happen?

But what if your urine is not clean? How do you know if it is good or not? How many times a day?

Castor Oil for Cataracts

I used the NOW brand of Castor Oil in my eye at bedtime and every time my heart would just race for quite some time. I kept it up for a week with no difference, but the elevated heart rate was so uncomfortable I stopped using it. Could anyone enlighten me why this would happen? With thanks

I went to Sprouts and found the Now brand of Castor Oil which says it is 100% pure and on the back of the bottle it says that it is considered food grade and that is what you should use. Don't use the other castor oil product that even says not to use in your eyes but only in a pack on your body elsewhere. It feels good in my eyes and I will let you know when it dissolves my cataract. I am putting 2 drops in my cataract eye and one in my other eye. Good luck!

Just a fyi on castor oil. The pharmacy brands are highly processed, and tend not to work on cataracts and other uses. The cold pressed castor oil retains it's properties and gives a better success rate.

I have used the Rx (1.25% ascorbic acid, 1.25% glutathione, 6.25% DMSO) for about six months ... started with one drop in each eye twice a day ... now doing one drop in each eye every other day. Have not gone for eye exam for objective opinion on reduction of low-level cataracts but I have noticed much clearer vision and better vision in lower levels of light. Previously had to have very bright light levels to see clearly close up. So, it appears to be working effectively for me. Hope this helps give some perspective to this treatment.

I had very small cataracts in eyes 3 years ago (age 66), but just had a visit to my eye Dr. today and he confirmed I have perfect eyes.

Initially told I had to go with the flow as there was nothing I could do about it other then surgery down the road. However, I have been taking 1-2 drops of " CASTOR OIL " (organic and expeller pressed) in each eye 5 nights a week for mostly redness/ a little dryness , also a daily warm water compress will relax and add moisture. So stop and rest for 15 minutes daily to revive your eyes. Just got in from an appointment with my Opthamologist and he said the critter I saw in my left eye last week was not an alien, but a ruptured blood vessel. He said the difference in my left and right eye color was a cataract forming.

I then ask him about the DMSO , Vit C and Gluthathione drops I am using to clear up the cataract. He began to explain what DMSO was and it should never be put in the eye. Being an Educated Redneck , I explained that I was a Ch. E who worked for CZ in the 60's and they were the company who, via Dr. Jacobs, made DMSO and did all the research. Naturally he was offended that I would challenge his disertation.

He then told me that every procedure must have a double blind test. I then told him that Dr. Jacob's answer was that million dollar horses don't know about such things and if DMSO worked , then they ran, if not , then they didn't. Simple stuff.

He then told me that if my right eye was clear in 9 months then he'd pay attention.
