[YEA]  09/24/2009: Anne from Chicago, Il writes: "H2O2 in ear for colds: I get sick almost every month, usually with a bad cold during, or right after, my period. I tried H2O2 in my ears right when I was getting that familiar tingle in the back of my throat and tired feeling I always get before a cold. I used about a half a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide poured into my ears, one at a time, lying on my side and let it sit and fizz for about 10 minutes each before dumping it out. The itchy feeling started disappearing right away and the next day I wasn't sick as I was sure I would be. I normally get sick for a good week or two when I do, so I was really glad it worked!"

[YEA]  12/17/2008: Carol from Wellston, MI writes: "I have used hp as a gargle for many years. My weak spot for a bug to come into my body is my throat, so when I get a sore throat or infected tonsils, I gargle with a capful of 3% hp so that it reaches the tonsils, (gag a little) and then spit it out. Repeat after 2 or 3 hours, and perhaps one more time later in the day. 90% of the time, my oncoming cold is nipped in the bud!

I also use a homemade paste of 3% hp and baking soda, with a drop of peppermint oil for toothpaste. I keep it in a closed jar to prevent drying out."

EC: hp = hydrogen peroxide

[YEA]  08/14/2008: Jennifer from Henderson, NV writes: "In 2006 I worked in an office where a few women would literally be sick with colds, flu, etc. like every other week. No Joke! Well, they had small children at home and I'm sure this is where they were continuing to pick up viruses from. But they would keep coming to work -they wouldn't call in sick, so they would be coughing, sneezing using the phones, touching fax/copy machines, spreading their germs around continuously on the equipment that we ALL used. SICK of catching their viruses, my friend looked up remedies for the common cold. She found something about peroxide in your ears could stop a cold before it could develop. Well I tried it, and I have been doing it for the past year and a half every time I feel one coming on. If I feel a sore throat, runny nose, etc coming on I just use a small eye dropper and put about 4-5 drops of 3% peroxide (bought at any drug store) in one ear, (tilt head over the sink) and wait about 2-3 mins until you feel the peroxide stop bubbling and get thru the ear wax. Repeat in other ear. This has saved me so much time, money and kept me side-effect free, that I can't be grateful enough for finding out about it. This past winter I worked in another office where mostly women worked, and once again kept getting and bringing to work all the winter time viruses for colds and flu. If I felt anything coming on, I just did the peroxide remedy and am happy to say I remained healthy all winter long while surrounded by repeatedly sick co-workers. I told them all about the peroxide in the ear remedy, but they were skeptical and I don't think any of them tried it. Even when I challenged them to the fact that I was the only one in the office who had not been sick at all and had missed no work~
There should be a LAW :)"

Thankyou for writing what you wrote! :)"
[YEA]  01/02/2009: Theresa from Auburn, Indiana replies: "Hydrogen Peroxide kept me from getting the cold/flu I felt coming on. The first time I tried using Hydrogen Peroxide in my both of my ears was when I was visiting my sister in Illinois, about 5 years ago. I had just arrived from the 5 hour drive and could feel that I was getting a cold or flu. My sister suggested placing a few (6 to 7) drops of hydrogen peroxide in my ear, letting it fizz, then let it drain and repeat the process in the other ear. I went to bed that evening after using the hydrogen peroxide and woke up feeling great! I never did get that cold... I've repeated this process each time I felt as though I was coming down with the cold or flu. It has worked 90% of the time. The key is to catch it early! The longer you wait to use the hydrogen peroxide once you have the first symptoms, the less likely it will work. I've shared this with others, but most are hesitant to try it. I haven't had any bad experiences with this method."

[YEA]  11/24/2007: Sandy from In the sticks, Nevada writes: "We have been using hydrogen peroxide for years to fight off earaches and colds. My kids and I used to go to the dr. all the time for earaches and end up with a big dr. bill and antibiotics. Then we heard about peroxide. I keep the peroxide in a small glass bottle with an eyedropper. The moment anyone starts to get a sore throat or their ears hurt even a tiny bit, we put one eyedropper full in each ear. Hold the bottle in your hand to warm the peroxide a bit (otherwise it feels like ice water going in) and have the person lie flat on their side. I like to leave the peroxide in until it stops bubbling, but even a few minutes may be enough to help. Drain the peroxide out when you are done and dry the ear thoroughly. A nurse told me that the peroxide would burn a hole through the lining of the ear(Has anyone ever heard of this before?), but we have done this for almost 10 years with no problems."

I started to drink it diluted about 10 drops in a glass of 10-12 oz. I usually drink it if I had flu or bad colds. In every case the cold cleared in one day. What a blessing was that book for me. EC: 3% H202 is the type sold in drugstores and 35% H202 is considered "food grade" and is sold in some health few stores, but mostly online. Read EC's Where to Buy Food Grade page for more information.

I think food grade is supposed to be pure H202 and therefore does not contain any stabilizers which the standard drugstore shelf variety does contain. However if you have perused Bill's inhalation method on EC, I think Bill says he uses the drug store shelf H202 for inhalation."
12/02/2009: Mark from Eureka, Ca replies: "I recently learned about h202 and found out that "Food Grade" means it is diluted with distilled water. Regular 3% stuff uses tap water. If you are ingesting or inhaling it you should use food grade. You can dilute your own to 3% with distilled water."
01/13/2010: Rob from Newark, De replies: "Food grade means that it is strong enough to wash fruits and vegetables to kill off anything left on the surface. Food Grade does NOT mean "ingestible". [YEA]  04/21/2007: Grant Greene from Lafayette, Colorado writes: "I have been using the following method to treat all colds for the past 15 years, and since first trying it, use nothing else to treat colds. I use the cap from the peroxide bottle and put 1/4 cap of peroxide the rest of the cap is filled with water dripped from the faucet. I put a finger over one nostril and sniff the mixture up the other nostril. I repeat this with the other nostril. One cap full (1/4 peroxide 3/4 water) usually will treat both nostrils. When the solution drain down the nostril passage to the throat I spit it out and blow my nose. Guess what? Instant relief then and there not ten minutes later but then and there. When you blow your nose you will be amazed at what come out. This is especially great for head colds, but also sore throat and stops coughing colds as well. I usually only have to do this twice at about 8 hour intervals. After that or by the next morning were talking, what cold? I have not tried using the inhaling through the mouth method since I have discovered that the cold always appears to be in the nostril passage. Even the sore throat symptom is in the nasal passage between the nose and throat and you will feel where it is when the mixture drains down the nostril passage. If you find that a 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water too strong, i.e., stings too much, use slightly less peroxide and more water. I sniff rather than spray the mixture as I found that spraying does not atomize and coat the entire nostril passage as well as when the mixture is sniffed. Try it and you will also be amazed."

Oscillo works AMAZINGLY well if you can take it within a few hours of the onset of flu symptoms. But, a friend told me to mix about 1 part peroxide to 3 parts water into a cool (not hot) mist humidifier and run it at night for her. It is great for breathing, though it does "highlight" the hair and eyebrows (we think it's great :o). I've used this method for years now for the whole family with great results for everything from sinus trouble to the flu. She's been antibiotic-free for about 6 years now. Very impressive for a child that was on about two to three rounds per year."

As a healthcare professional, it seemed utterly ridiculous that anybody would be so "ignorant" as to believe this -- clearly . . . medical science has shown that viruses are typically transmitted through contact with mucous membranes (touch the door knob, pick your nose -- voila). I wasn't feeling well one day -- actually, for about two or three days, and I decided -- what the heck, I'll pour some peroxide in my ears, and see what happens. I swear, on all that is holy -- I did this twice a day for two days, and when I woke the third morning, I felt SO much better! I don't know if the peroxide CURED me or not, but -- my cold was gone -- so, I don't care."

Hello Pahlee,

I haven't used H202 for colds, but I do use it for external ear infections. For the amount, it depends on the ear. I just fill the ear canal, which for my ear takes about
1/2 capful (standard 1 pint drugstore bottle cap size).

The only contraindication I have heard of is a ruptured tympanic membrane (ear drum) which I question, in view of the fact that it can be taken internally (oral & inhalation methods according to our EC family members). Personally I find my stomach doesn't like H202, but what little goes to the stomach with Bill's inhalation method, so far, it will tolerate."

I lucked up when doing this method, I didn't know about these home remedies then, I was just off from work because I was sick and decided to clean out my ears because I had extra time. Gargling might help to break up irritation and mucus in the throat. I say this because my ears nose and mouth don't seem to be as closed off from on another as the average person. After adding peroxide in my ears, I immediately tasted it in my mouth (really in the back of my throat). It felt like I needed to belch, and when I did, all the stuff in my throat came up. It was weird for me but it does seem to break up and stop symptoms of colds."

Really quite pleasant. So I went on to my right ear. It will not drain out! My sinus issues are much improved, and I slept fine, but this morning my right ear is still clogged and beginning to ache. I tried the hydrogen peroxide again, hoping it would sort out whatever had gone wrong. But no luck. Ted from Thailand writes: "I have never ever recommended the use of Hydrogen peroxide in the ears. Yes H2O2 works very well, but not by the ear. It works best when taken internally. Especially when you also add a small amount of vinegar. (It becomes peracetic acid, which is great medicine against SARS - sars don't like acid). For me the most efficient way to get H2O2 into my system without doing dubious things such as IV is to slosh or spray 3% H2O2 on my arms, legs, feet, hands, neck, chest and back. It is much more efficient than putting them in your ears. Of course if you want to get rid of ear wax using H2O2 this is o.k. but not as a cold prevention. A cold prevention or viral outbreak would have been much more effective to use it via mouth wash and putting on skin. Simple reason: your body's skin have the largest areas for H2O2 absorption. H2O2 gets absorbed through the skin quite more efficiently than the intestinal tract, but intestinal tract is also important to take some H2O2 to clear up the pathogens. By the way, viruses also get absorbed through the skin this way to by actions of Langerhan's cells, which unfortunately goes directly to the lymph system and destroys your immune system just the same. To prevent tricky viruses, use H2O2 frequently on the skin. It prevents such from destroying your most prized possession of your body necessary to maintain health your immune system. My favorite way to rid of pathogens, at least no. 1 is to slosh my mouth (after brushing teeth WITHOUT fluoride) using 3% H2O2. I now do this every day. Foams just come shooting out, just to show you how much bacteria I have. I will not recommend anyone doing 3% just start with 0.5-1% H2O2 and once you get use to it you can work yourself up as best as you see fit. A majority of people are much more sensitive than me therefore please lean on the safe side. I am not totally successful in killing of pathogens with a clear rate of success, but H2O2 is the best I have seen so far."

05/12/2008: Dr. C. Miller from Minneapolis, Minnesota replies: "Please do A VERY THOROUGH research for the truth - before posting any untruth, half truth or unguided opinion to influence others either knowingly or un-knowingly. Lets clarify one point here - The body does hydrate, dehydrate and detox thru its largest organ the skin with a tremendous surface area. That does not make the ears any less important to treat with hydrogen peroxide. There is overwhelming evidence that colds, flu & virus do enter the body thru the ears. Some postings are from individuals who are either new to this or are convinced there personal experience or opinion is correct although contrary to most and that is ok. Caution is needed as some who visit this site and read what is posted are willing to try everything and some others are afraid to try anything - and to you I say please do your research as if you were going to treat your own beautiful newborn baby before you type as though your words wont matter to anyone. Please study all of the information for yourself first - you must make educated decisions and it is imperative that you educate yourself first before taking foolhardy advice posted on the web from around the world.

This is a great site with great information readily available and with personal experiences too and those are powerful but when hundreds are saying that the ears are the best way to kill a cold and many have this wonderful result, but two of you have a contrary opinion one because he really felt the pain of the infection he had and the other just thinks the skin is a larger surface area but is also afraid of the iv treatment - we dont need to hear it.... We need facts...what was the problem/symptom, what did you do, what was the dose, what was the before and after. THIS WAS NOT STATED TO MAKE ANYONE FEEL BAD OR ACCUSE ANYONE. THERE ARE DANGERS WITH EVERYTHING AND UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER THE CARE OF A DOCTOR WHO PRACTICES IN THIS AREA YOU CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL - IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO REGAIN A MEASURE OF HEALTH ONCE YOU DESTROY IT.

06/25/2008: William from Fresno, CA replies: "There is a lot of talk here about virus' performing all sorts of acrobats and warfare against humans by mysteriously entering the body from thin air. Lets first get it straight that viruses are genomes, genomes are dead cell matter produced by dying cells. If you want to know what dead cells up to these days, just visit your local cemetary. They don't enter thru your ears or skin. They're DEAD, incapable of launching any tactic, incapable of conceiving the things they are 'reproted' to do. They are the 21st century "demons to be cast out". Get real people, the virus's start inside you and what you really have is too much death when you are sick, H2O2 assists and fortifies your body's natural ability to rid itself of the death (aka virus). WE NEED OXYGEN TO CARRY AWAY THE DEAD CELLS TO THE APPROPRIATE RELIEF PASSAGES TO DETOXIFY WITH MINIMAL TO NO ADVERSE REACTION TO THE PROCESS. Another helpful healer is to stop or reduce the amount of poison you are subjecting yourself to."

DECHLORINATING WATER

Ratings:

YEA

[YEA]  02/25/2011: Marla from Atlanta, Georgia, Usa writes: "We all know that chlorine is in most tap water, and that it's not good for us. Furthermore, when chlorine meets water or H2O2, it generates chlorine gas, which is deadly and was used as a chemical weapon by the Germans in World War I (this is the awful smell you get when cleaning with bleach water and why you should use it in well-ventilated areas emedicine.medscape.com/article/820779-overview). Because of this, it is not safe to add hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to chlorinated tap water and drink it right down for your oxygen therapy.

However, if your water ph is 7.0 or higher, H2O2 can be used to dechlorinate the water first, allow the chlorine gas to escape (www.h2o2.com/industrial/applications.aspx?pid=107&name=Dechlorination), and then the water will be safe to use for oxygen/hydrogen peroxide therapy.

Further, it only takes a single drop per gallon to dechlorinate most drinking water. (See below for math ) I have not been able to discover the time necessary for the chlorine to be fully liberated, so to be safe, I would agitate the water periodically and not use it for 24 hours or so.

How I calculated 1 drop per gallon:

1.8mg/l Cl common post-treatment level (check with your water provider for specifics)

100000 gal H2Orequires 0.2 gal 50% H202 to dechlorinate (www.h2o2.com/Calculator.aspx)

There are 90840 drops in a gallon

0.2 gal = 18168 drops 50% H2O2 to treat 100000 gal H2O with Cl

Moving the decimal gets us 1.8168 drops for 10.0000 gal

3% H2O2 is 16.666% strength of 50% H2O2, so 3% hydrogen peroxide requires 6x amount of 50%

10.9008 drops for 10 gal = 1 drop per gallon

Simple and cheap to dechlorinate your tap water at home!"

10/16/2009: Tim from Berkeley, Ca writes: "Hydrogen Peroxide for dental care

I have been using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash after I brush and floss my teeth for the past 8 years. I just use the 3% solution that you can buy at any pharmacy. I take a swig of hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle and keep it in my mouth for about 30-60 seconds before spitting it out. It bubbles up and sometimes tingles. If you are not used to it, it will feel weird but it won't hurt unless you have an exposed nerve. Make sure not to swallow it. I don't think that it will cause any huge problems but it will probably give you a stomach ache. This use of hydrogen peroxide is great because it not only kills bacteria and keeps by breath fresh but also makes my teeth sparkling white. One time my dentist commented on how white my teeth are and I told him about the hydrogen peroxide and he jokingly told me not to tell anyone about it or he would lose business. "

The doctors and the goverment today DON'T want you to get better, as much as they claim they "care" about your health. If you get 100% healthy, we don't need the dr's, right? They rather tell you that you can't do that, or that there is no such cure for a disease. Question:Why? Answer: because they want your money and for you to "believe they are the only ones that can help you". If peolpe around the world knew the truth, they would think different about doctors nowadays. Doctors today are just a scam to rip you off your hard earned money. I would challenge anyone that takes prescription pills to go to their dr and tell him/her that you dont want those pills anymore and that you want a "natural remedy". They would come up with 20 million excuses why no such thing exists. And if they by any chance "give" them somthing natural, that dr will lose their license, their practice, and their job because the government WILL shut him/her down because the government looses profits if a person gets "cured". Its a shame very little people realize this."

Then to top that off, they are too busy to study natural medicine even if they wanted to and because they have no time, they believe what the drug reps tell them. I worked for a Dr. and she was very kind and cared what happened with her patients. She was open to some health things but honestly, she just didn't have time. I don't think they would put all those years into schooling if they didn't have a calling. Again, not all but I think the majority do care."
[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS]  10/25/2009: Dianna from Citrus Heights, Ca replies: "To Tim from Berkeley, I recently used HP because of a tooth abscess. I swished about 1-1/2 tsp undiluted over the counter HP a couple of times. I must say it did help with the abscess tooth pain. Unfortunately, several days later, I noticed an extreme sensitivity of my teeth to hot and cold. I can only assume it was from the HP. Has anyone else had this experience? I haven't found anything thus far on the website that indicates that HP can harm your teeth in this way. I'm puzzled! I am still having trouble with that particular tooth abscess but am now reluctant to swish any more HP until I can find out what I've done wrong. I did not mix it with water and maybe that was the problem? Anyone with some feedback would be very welcome to respond!"
10/27/2009: Betty from Spearsville, La. replies: "Dear Dianna,

I have used 1% hp to rinse my mouth and teeth. Yes, it did start to whiten my teeth a little but I noticed that it left a film on my teeth, just like the film I experience when I drink lemon juice which of course is very acidic. I stopped rinsing with it and my teeth feel clean once again, even though I do still gargle with it. I became concerned when a post I read said that hp can be very harmful to your teeth.

Betty"

[YEA]  08/09/2011: Corpoverde from Malate, Manila, Philippines replies: "Just started with 3% solution mouthwash, Initially, there was a lot of foam and bubbles coming out from my gums and tongue. Must be the bacteria being killed by the H2O2. Subsequently after three days of rinsing twice a day, my swollen gums have receeded and the sore on the side of my tongue has turned white and the pain diasappeared. Even my toothache was gone. Except for the tingling sensation on the tongue, the only other unpreferred sensation was the taste. So I mixed it with a few drops of astringosol to have that minty taste. Is this OK? Has anyone out there tried this?"
08/10/2011: Bubbasmum from Levin, New Zealand replies: "Hi good to hear someone is using hydrogen peroxide. I did the course of taking it internally as suggested in the book "The one minute cure". But I use it for brushing my teeth with baking soda. Its the main ingredient in tooth whitening products so its all good. I only use it a few times a week. I also have it in a spray bottle in a 3% diluted mixture and use it for a number of remedies. Great for killing nasty bacteria. I also spray it down my ear when I get a sore ear and throat and it bubbles and lie down for 10 minutes then tip it out and it heals the ear. Sorry I went off track a bit. Get excited when good products help people. :o)"

[YEA]  08/01/2008: Mel from Garner, NC writes: "I have been brushing my teeth with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda for years, especially since new information is out about the harmful effects of flouride.

For those who have been warning that hydrogen peroxide should not be taken orally, why is it that so many over-the-counter toothpastes now advertise hydrogen peroxide as a beneficial ingredient?

Keep up the good work EC!"

[YEA]  01/06/2006: Roxy from Kingston TN writes: "I use Hydrogen Peroxide when flossing my teeth. Mix the HP 50:50 with warm water and close your mouth tightly while you are flossing. I used the reach flossing thing and it worked really good. Just try it. HP is as good if not better and cheaper than name brand mouth wash. It helps with gum disease."
