Apricot Seeds & Vitamin B17: Potential in Cancer Care

| Modified on Oct 31, 2024
Add New Post Comments

Cancer remains one of the most significant health challenges worldwide, leading to a continuous search for effective treatments. Among various natural remedies, apricot seeds have sparked interest and debate in the cancer community. This article explores the potential benefits, risks, and scientific insights regarding apricot seeds as a complementary approach to cancer treatment.

Understanding Apricot Seeds

Apricot seeds, also known as apricot kernels, are found inside the hard pit of the apricot fruit. They contain amygdalin, a compound that gets converted into cyanide in the body. Amygdalin is also known as vitamin B17, though it's not officially recognized as a vitamin.

The Link Between Apricot Seeds and Cancer

The use of apricot seeds for cancer treatment centers around amygdalin. Proponents believe that amygdalin can target and kill cancer cells while leaving healthy cells unharmed. This belief is based on the idea that cancer cells have more of the enzyme beta-glucosidase, which releases cyanide from amygdalin, causing a toxic effect on cancer cells.

Research and Evidence

The scientific evidence supporting apricot seeds for cancer treatment is limited and controversial. Some laboratory studies and animal research have suggested that amygdalin may inhibit cancer cell growth. However, human clinical trials have not conclusively demonstrated its effectiveness or safety. It's essential to approach these findings with caution and seek reliable scientific research.

Risks and Side Effects

The primary risk associated with apricot seeds is cyanide poisoning. Consuming high amounts of these seeds can lead to symptoms like headache, dizziness, nausea, and, in extreme cases, can be lethal. It's crucial to be aware of these risks and consult healthcare professionals before considering apricot seeds as a cancer treatment.

Legal and Regulatory Status

In many countries, health authorities do not approve the sale of apricot seeds for cancer treatment. This lack of approval is due to the potential risks and the limited evidence supporting their effectiveness.

Conclusion

While using apricot seeds for cancer treatment is intriguing, it's vital to approach this topic with a critical eye. The potential benefits are yet to be conclusively proven, and the risks, particularly of cyanide poisoning, are significant. Patients interested in exploring natural remedies like apricot seeds should always do so under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional and within the realm of evidence-based medicine.

I sprinkle 12 apricot seeds on my cereal for breakfast and another 12 on my salad at lunch. They just add a little crunch to my food and I don't even taste the bitterness. I've been eating 24 seeds a day for over 6 years and my prostate cancer has shrunk to nothing. I keep eating them to prevent cancer.

Hi Diana

Dr. Leonard Coldwell on youtube, He is the #1 Natural cancer killer.

One of his videos, he said a person should eat 14 kernels daily. So if a dog is 50 I think 4 kernels would do, It worked for my bladder cancer.

I am sure this would help.

Best wishes

MARIANNE, ORH here and suggest your husband do two things.

One, drink 8 glasses of ozoneated water a day along with baking soda to raise his pH close to 8. You can measure his tinkle pH each morning. Cancer cannot stand an alkaline body, nor oxygen. No doctor will tell you this because most do not know sheet. They just do what they are told. They are sheeple. I am alive today because of my research. I am my own doctor and all should have that control. Nurse Rachet is my best buddy. She listens. ====ORH====

For bladder cancer the best thing is Sodium Bicarbonate 1 tsp. (baking soda) and distilled water 1 cup & either 2 tsp of Organic Black Strap Molasses or 1 tsp Lemon Juice 2 or 3 times a day.

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup distilled water (warm over flame not microwave)

2 tsp organic blackstrap molasses (or) 1 tsp lemon juice

Hi Thea

You have to eat 12 seeds everyday.. My friend had stage 4 liver cancer and after a month or so she got tested and she was stage 2, don't give up. You could add Frankincense Oil, 1 drop morning and 1 at night. Also rub some oil on your bladder several times throughout the day. I am telling you this because that's what I did for my bladder cancer. It is gone 4 years now. The Frankincense Oil brand is NoW.

A friend of mine is also on Keytruda and doing well. I also am wondering if there are any side effects of eating the Apricot seeds while on Keytruda?? My friend absolutely will not go for it unless he is certain it won't interfere with Keytruda. He won't do anything without his doctor okaying it. I may not be able to change his mind about doctors but maybe I can help him get well by just eating the seeds. If I can convince him that it won't interfere with Keytruda then I know he'll do it. Has anyone been eating the seeds while on Keytruda??

Each day, put a teaspoon of the grounds from the bag into the back of the mouth and swallow with glass or water or other drink to help in avoiding the bitter taste.

Sway testing is muscle testing. Basically you would hold the seeds in you hand and ask yourself out loud something like " Is the seed good for me" Your body will sway either forward or backward. In your case asking how many seeds you need, I would suggest taking one seed at a time and asking the question until you get a no answer. You can google muscle testing which will give you videos explaining it a lot better than I can.

The seeds of any random apricot are not likely to be the same as the seeds of the apricots bitter apricots seeds come from. So don't use those as a substitute for the bitter apricot seeds. But if I understand the theory behind this, if we were to eat all the seeds of all the fruit we ate, we would get enough b17 to prevent cancer.

Hello Bee from New York:

You're probably referring to the cyanide content when ingesting the wrong or too much B17 content.

You need to get the bitter/raw apricot kernels. I personally use the Apricot Power brand myself. I'm only using them as maintenance & NOT as a cancer treatment.

The general rule is 1 apricot kernel per 10 pounds of body weight. For instance, I weigh 160 pounds so I take 16 kernels per day. If treating cancer, the dosage is much higher. As much as 30-35+ kernels daily for cancer sufferers.

You can also mix/add taking apricot kernel extract in capsule/tablet form as well. Doing it this way would of course decrease the amount of kernels needed daily. Some say the apricot kernels taken alone cures cancer. Others say it takes a more aggressive approach with other support nutrients/supplements like Vit C and B15(Pangamic Acid), AHCC(mushroom extract), etc. The Apricot Power brand kernels I take are very bitter. They're supposed to be that way though. This shows the laetrile content is there.

I compare the taste to Novacane used for numbing in the dental industry. I always chew mine up really well and hold under the tongue for a minute or two before swallowing. Here's a link with further details: http://www.worldwithoutcancer.org.uk/therapy-compontents/

Go to youtube and watch the documentary called " A World Without Cancer" It will explain the process to you. All fruit seeds contain a naturally occurring cyanide, but the cyanide is released only under certain circumstances. It's incredible how efficient our creator designed this planet and it's inhabitants to function dependently on one another. When you stray from the natural origin of your being, that's when trouble ensues. Such as GMO foods, toxins, man made chemicals. These things are not designed to function within the ecological system that was created. People need to wake up and think logically.

It's surprising that there is so much controversy about apricot seeds. When I was a little girl growing up on my grandparent's farm, we couldn't wait until the apricots were ripe so we could eat the nuts (seeds?) We would put them on the concrete steps and hammer them open to get to the succulent sweet nuts inside. They tasted like almonds. I'm sure that the reason they are bitter now is because of all the pesticides that farmers use. We always ate all we wanted. There was never any worry about eating too many. My grandmother would even add them to her jars of canned apricots and other fruits. When I started eating them I was about 4 years old.

If you buy the brand name Apricot Power from either Amazon or their own website these are softer kernels and can be eaten rather easily instead of being ground up. I say this unless you have a mouth/teeth problem that makes it harder for you to chew. These are also non-GMO kernels as well.

Based on more than 30 years of research on this topic I feel confident in asserting the role of 'B-17' or hydrocyanic acid (HCN) is directly related to the digestive enzymes in the system as well as in the gut.

At best, we believe, HCN (B-17), will act like a cytostatic or slowing down the aerobic phase of a cancer cell system. However, the anaerobic phase will then ensue, and the system has already reduced any benzaldehyde present from the whole nitriloside into benzoic acid. However, in the cancer tumor system limb or zone of greatest activity HCN will not be readily detoxified into thiocyanate, but will act as an enzyme reactivator for those hydrolases that digest cancer cells (trophoblasts). The primary protease inhibitor of the cancer system is hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin).

HCN has long been known to act upon some serine enzymes as an activator and accelerator. In fact even the detoxified or transulferased form: thiocyanate can act as an accelerator and reactivator though not to the same degree as free HCN. Most often cancer patients die not to the incursions of the cancer cells so much as the effect of hCG on the digestive enzymes in the blood stream and eventually in the pancreas so that these enzymes being deactivated vastly impact both immunity and nutrition. The patient dies of pneumonia for example or 'cachexia' or starvation.

This is why it is so important for cancer sufferers to have lots of raw, red meat or other protein predigested or a supply of complete amino acids (not soya) or supplemental enzymes. This amounts to 'tenderizing meats' or supplying something akin to mother's milk. Then the system can synthesize the missing or inhibited enzymes. B-17 works as a CO-ENZYME. If the enzymes are insufficient to the work before them, HCN or B-17 has nothing to work on.

And as we believe: it is not a stand-alone 'chemotherapy'. It is not terminally toxic (cytoxin) magic bullet. Look up a paper by Mendell and Blood on this and you'll see for yourself:

HCN is the simplest known vitamin. As such it works in conjunction to digestion both in the blood and the gut.

There are a great many cultivars of apricots being grown and each of these varieties produce different quantities of amygdalin, from sweet, like almonds, all the way up to extremely bitter comparable to bitter almonds. One should be aware of the bitterness of their chosen kernel. Many of the "bitter" kernels being sold are really not very bitter at all. They contain very little amygdalin, and certainly not in therapeutic values. The bitter the better, as they say. Consumption should be varied accordingly.

I talk more about this on my own blog at http://www.apricot-kernels.blogspot.com

Apricot kernels (the inherent cyanide) may also induce the process of autophagy, which is the cell repair/recycling mechanism the body otherwise activates during periods of fasting. The two in combination have the potential to be very effective indeed.

We import our apricot kernels from Australia. There is an exceptional variety available there with roughly 50,000 mg of amygdalin per kilo. Be mindful of the less bitter varieties, as they're also being sold as "bitter apricot kernels", and those imported from countries such as India, Turkey and Pakistan. Many vendors are quite happy for you to believe you're purchasing a quality, local product, or they'll market their Indian or Pakistani kernels as "Hunza" or "Hunza region" in an attempt to give them credit. To put amygdalin quantities into perspective, the more bitter varieties available in North America contain approximately 15,000 mg per kilo. If you're using them for anything more than prevention, get yourself a truly bitter specimen.

I feel there is a lot of inaccuracies on above post.

Apricot kernels can indeed kill cancer cells but it cannot be any kind you will need the ‘bitter” and not the sweet variety. Best ones are the Hunza which are grown in Himalayas. “Google Hunza shangrila”

Every fruit seeds/kernels are cynagenic which is indeed cynide, but this is in very small amounts, and this is what kills cancer microbes and the reason why there is a myth re cynide poisoning. And reason why they were/are forbidden in some countries.

I had a dream last night and it was not the first to come true. I dream Jason Vale had passed away. It might have been brought on by my buying 3 lots of Apricot kernels who the sellers all stated was bitter, when in fact I doubt they were. I am about to start a protocol including Apricot kernels, however, I remembered my dream and decided to check up. It seems Jason Vale at only 51 years of age has died, from Cancer! Now he has been taking them for years, and now it has really put me off from taking them. I actually feel sad about it really, because he was so young. But maybe the apricot kernels kept him alive a lot longer than he would have lived, but it has still given me serious cause for concern, and don't think I will take them now. Jason passed away in July I think of this year 2021.

For source of Apricot Kernels make sure you are buying Organic, raw, Bitter Apricot Kernels. If you would like to keep them for a longer time buy them still in their shell and crack them open yourself as you use them. Otherwise buy the kernels already removed from their shell and make sure they are not expired or near expiration. Keep them in refrigerator to prolong their vitality.

Usually the kernels from Turkey or Bulgaria are considered best, and they are very good, however I have used some from California as well and did not notice any differencee in the effectiveness among these three souces. I have purchased Bitter Apricot Kernels on Amazon and from Good Karma. My grandfather who lived a very healthy life until he was nearly 100 ate them nearly every day of his life.

Our 21 year old daughter was diagnosed 2 1/2 weeks ago with cervical cancer. The same day we put her on 15 crushed apricot seeds in applesauce, along with 3 tsp of ACV in organic pomegranate juice.

She did this everyday-had a follow up at the Dr. this week they performed a microscopic some sorta test scraped the cervix and took samples. The Dr. called with the tests today---NEGATIVE---he said the cervix looked fantastic

Was it because of the apricots & ACV??? I sure hope so--by the way, she also only ate organic food-no red meat, sugar or white flour.

Ronda, what a good report. Happy for you! IMO it was all 5: Pomegranate juice is also beneficial as well as Organic and low carbs since we all know that cancer feeds on sugar (carbs).

I researched laetril back in 2002-2003, or was it, 2001-2002.

B-17 as it is now referred to, is a compound that when metabolized inside of mamalian cells, breaks down into hydrogen cyanide. Now, cancer cells have no metabolic way to deal with this compound and thusly, it is selectively toxic to cancer. Our cells can metabolize hydrogen cyanide but only up to a certain point.

By this description, B-17, has many characteristics of some chemotherapy agents, which are selectively toxic. The trick is, how much can you titrate the dose upwards until you get maximum effect without causing side affects and toxicity.

The way b-17 works, higher doses are more lethal to cancer.

So, dosing is not that scientific, as laetrile or b-17 does not fall under FDA scrutiny and the promoters of such have indeed brought lawyers and data to the court room so that laetril is not illegal.

What I do know for certain about laetril is this:

1)It can become toxic at higher doses, but its effectiveness is also dose dependant.

2)It will increase the permiability of cancer cell membranes, (Brewer,) and improve other therapies.

3)It does not have very accurate dosing parameters as there is no FDA requirements of pharmaceutical type testing and titrating.

4)It should not be used as only therapy for cancer.

5)Is a good preventative in low to moderate dosing.

Remember:

Cancer can become resistant to laetril, so I look at b-17 as an adjunct to other chemo/alternative therapies.

Laetril can be given with alkaline, vitamin c, and oxygen therapies.

Should you take laetril?

Well, when looking at clinical trials of other substances, like cesium chloride, the percentage of response for cancer cases is higher in other therapies. This doesn't mean that b-17 should be ignored. The single biggest promoter of cesium chloride, which had great response in trials, also recommends b-17 as additional adjunct to the same cesium chloride therapy.

Laetrile is derived from apricot seeds, does have some cyanide in them, but so does apple seeds and peach seeds. Many other plants also contain cyanide, but usually always in small amounts. You don't hear as much about it now as you did 20 - 30 years ago, but some people are still obtaining it from underground sources. As to whether you should take it, my opinion is that God's wisdom far exceeds the big pharmaceuticals, and it is probably safer to take it, Essiac tea, Hoxsey's formula, Jason Winter's tea, oleander,or myriads of other herbal preparations than it is to take antibiotics or chemotherapy.

Classic example is that the pharmaceutical companies have been scouring herbal treatments all over this planet for the last 40 - 50 years, and probably much longer than that. If you want to check this out, just feed in poke weed (southern poke salad) and look up some of the studies that have been done on this weed. How did they know what weeds to study? By collecting folk medicine remedies (for instance the heart medicine digitalis came from the foxglove weed a home remedy plant for heart problems, and many other medications came from weeds - podophyllin for genital and chemodrug E-topocide both come from the mayapple, another chemodrug Vincristine comes from the pink periwinkle plant. The problem is that the pharmaceutical companies cannot patent the natural plant so they work on isolating the one chemical in that plant that has the effect they want, then make a synthetic version of it that they can patent and make a fortune on. Unfortunately, this removes all the failsafe chemicals in that plant, that God in his wisdom put there, which leaves a very toxic product. I have never seen it in print, but I'd be willing to bet that Viox (the arthritis drug that caused so many to have strokes and heart attacks) was an isolate from pokeweed or its poke berries. I, and most of the people I know, were raised to believe that poke berries are poison. I have been taking poke berries for 40 plus years and have gotten a lot of others taking them also, without adverse effects, because we are taking the whole berries with the built in failsafes. I also suspect that several of the later hypertensive medications came from our lowly poke weed.

This is one of the best actual cures for cancer. When you go into the store you see many vitamins. You don't see vitamin b-17 now do you?

That's because the FDA took control over it-funny how that's the only vitamin (so far) that they control. Organic apples have vitamin b-17 in the skin, but if they're not organic they don't since the chemicals non-organic farmers use kill it. But,there is hope!!! Buy apricots from any store, rinse them off well and eat them. Don't throw away the hard shell that is in the core of the apricot. Smash the hard shell open with a hammer.

Put it in a bag so it doesn't go flying everywhere,or use whatever you can use-maybe a nut cracker. Once the hard shell is broke there is a soft seed in it. Eat it. It's bitter tasting but kills cancer.

Apple seeds also have the same thing, but apricot seeds are much higher in B-17. To prevent cancer eat 14 apricot seeds every other day, or six-seven a day.

If you have cancer, well, I'd tell you to eat 50 a day!! It works. My mom had breast cancer and now she's fine and healthy because of this! No B.S

Re: Using Apricot Seeds for Cancer

Well, first of all,I put my mom on a 21 day juice fast. Every working hour she would drink veggie and/or fruit juice, and green tea, along with blending apricot seeds and apple seeds in the juice. While on the juice fast for 21 days, she ate apricots and their seeds / kernels, apple seeds, brown rice, green tea, flax seeds, organic sprouts(she ate them without washing the soil off), enzymes, vitamins, and ran about 2 miles 2-3 times a week. She ate about 30-50 apricot seeds a day. After the 21 day fast, she ate no meat, drank no dairy products, still drank juice with her meals-she also went on a full body cleanse. Her meals consisted of veggies, salads, apricots and clean natural foods that would fight cancer. She didn't go on chemo, but she was put on some medication by the doctor to help her out. I believe, along with the juice fast, the b-17 in the seeds cured her cancer. Her first month she went to the doctor and like 75 % of it was gone.Then,3 weeks later, about 95% of her cancer was gone. 2 1/2 weeks later it was all gone. It took about 2 months, but her cancer cells started dying after about 3 weeks or a month. She still consumes the apricot seeds every day, and juices, and eats healthy. She only eats about 7-14 a day though, not like 30 or 50 anymore, lol. No problem. I don't mind helping others.

Firstly, cancer could possibly be a vitamin B17 deficiency. The compound I first found out about in the early 1970s was called laetrile or commonly known as amydalin. Amydalin is found in apple seed and apricot seeds. The Hunzas people, where cancer is virtually unknown, consume 4-8 apricot seeds a day
