Apple Cider Vinegar
[YEA] 05/02/2009: Leslie from Los Angeles, Calif. USA: "Yea! I had begun using about 1 tsp organic, raw, apple cider vinegar 3x a day with a glass of water (about 12 oz) with a spoonful of raw honey and my energy and stamina have improved greatly. That's why I was using it and to see if it would help with weight control, and it seems to... then I read that it helped rid incontinence and I thought, huh, maybe it'll help me, but I didn't really believe it.
My boyfriend and I walk our dogs every afternoon in the park and until 3 days ago I had to stop once without fail to relieve myself. I am so excited and know that the vinegar treatment really works for me. My problem has plaiged me for about 5 years now and continued until just 3 days ago!
I also do home visits and I can't wait till I don't have to ask to use the bathroom on each visit!
Thanks for this website indeed!!!"
10/24/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait replies: "but apple cider vinegar is acidic... Does it really helps... My sister is having the same problem. She is 21. have tried all medicines but they arent helping ..."
[YEA] 02/25/2009: Carmen from Irvington, NY, U.S.A: "My mother, now 81, suffered a number of strokes in 1995. As a result of this she became urine incontinent. She would soak her bed in urine at night. I read the anecdote of the father who gave his daughter ACV for bedwetting and thought it couldn't hurt to have my mom try it. She did, and within a few days she became free of this terrible condition. Almost three weeks later she is still able to get up at night to relieve herself in the toilet. My prayers of so many years have been granted. I thank and praise God for His abundant provision."
[YEA] 12/04/2008: Phyllis from Weldon, Calif. USA: "I have had urinary problems(incontenance) for about 6 months and tried several different herbs and also went to a naturopatic. The things they gave me didnt work. Then I found earthclinic and the apple cider vinigar columns. I started taking 2 tbsp. in the morning and 2 tbsp. at night. and what do you know, it cleared the problem up in 10 to 14 days. I used about 8 oz. of water and sweetned the vinigar solution with stevia powder. I have become addicted to it. I love the taste. Shortly after taking I do get a slight headache but it leaves in a very short time. Must be from a rush of nutrients .Thank you so much for your website and acv. Phyllis"
[YEA] 10/05/2011: Bill from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada: "I started taking chromium picolinate in an effort to trim down. I haven't trimmed down but the chromium picolinate has drastically decreased my bouts with frequent urination. I take 200 mcg 15 minutes before each meal. I hope it works as good for you as it did for me!"Replies
10/30/2011: Bill from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada replies: "I don't mean to be obnoxious but I don't have Urinary Incontinence, I used chromium and it has helped me significantly in reducing frequent urination. I hope earth clinic can correct this because I don't want to give people false information."
[YEA] 01/22/2013: Cara from Miami, Fl, Us: "I completely cut gluten out of my diet and try to stay away from foods that are known bladder irritants and it is much improved. Try to cut out chocolate, citrus, alcohol, and DEFINITELY tomatoes. It takes a while for your system to completely get rid of all remnants of these foods in your system but wait it out its worth it! Good luck I hope this helps some people. I am blood type O positive for those of you out there who may be following the blood type diet."
[YEA] 12/05/2008: Marilyne from Tampa, FL: "RE: Incontinence - Kegels! I know, no one wants to do them - I know I certainly didn't. My GYN wanted me to have surgery for my bladder issues, and I figured I had nothing to lose. I started with 50 (yes, 50) a day and have progressed up to approx. 100. I don't lose urine when I cough or sneeze, laughter is still a little problem, but nothing like it was. I'm 53, and determined to stay out of depends. Iyt took about 3 months before I noticed a significant improvement - so hang in there. It sure beats surgical options."
EC: More about Kegel exercise here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kegel_exercise
[YEA] 01/05/2009: Aimee from New Brunswick, NJ, USA replies: "I started having problems with urgency and incontinence when I was about 23 years old. I couldn't believe it-- but it was very real and very hard to work around it. (when you gotta go- you gotta go-- then again, with incontinence- sometimes you just go!)
I went to a physical therapist and she taught me that there were certain triggers usually that led to these special moments. For example, when I put my keys in the door, I would immediately have to go, be jumping all around and it was a miracle if I made it to the bathroom in time. There were other triggers too.
She said I should try to start recognizing those triggers and use the kegel exercises in combination. So, approaching the door, I would start the exercises. (If you don't know how to do it, you just contract your muscles like as if you are trying to stop peeing.) I would hold the contraction for about 6 seconds then release and do it again, five more times. So, 6 seconds, 6 times. If I still had the urge to pee (which I did), I had to do the exercises again. Once I got into the bathroom (another trigger), I did it again. Sitting on the toilet, I did it again.
The point is to continue doing it until you have control over the moment. Once I felt like I could control when I actually went to the bathroom, I was allowed to go.
This worked so well for me. I was shocked at how quickly it worked as well. Within days I was noticing a major improvement and within weeks, it was hardly an issue. You have to be diligent though- if you still feel the urgency, do another round of exercises.
Every once in a while, I'll start to get that feeling again. I do the exercises and within a few days I am totally back in control."
01/06/2009: C from VERO , FL replies: "Note this FDA page and FDA approved device that makes these "exercises" more agreeable:
04/26/2009: Noris from San Antonio, TX replies: "I had this problem until I read about magnesium helping. I take any of the Magnesium and in no time (days) there is no more leakage."
[YEA] 12/10/2009: Nature from Portland, Maine replies: "Kegel exercises worked for me as well. I do them at night as a way to move into sleep. I do them for five seconds each and fifteen at a time as was recommended in a natural healing newsletter. I try to do this three times a day. If I wake up at night I do a set of three again. This kills two birds with one stone as I find it very relaxing and a great way to go back to sleep. This works for me!"
02/08/2012: Laniet from San Leandro, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi--first time commenting on this great site, not sure where to post this!
I inherited "have to pee" disease--runs (lol) in the female side of the family!
I am almost 60 and I used to walk a mile home from school. My friend and I would get the Have To Pee urge halfway home (we didn't have the sense to take care before we left school). So we'd tell ourselves we had to walk another HALF HOUR.
Somehow, the mind over matter thing works quite well!
I am laughing reading some of the accounts here--"key in the door" triggers it. I know that well!
I have flown quite a lot for business during my adult life. So now I use the scenario of the captain saying,
"Thank you for flying XXX Airlines. We are now on descent to XXX destination. Please turn up your tables and return your seat to the upright position. Fasten your seat belt. We will be on the ground in 25 minutes and will arrive at the gate shortly after that time."
I say this in my head when I get the Pee Pee Urge, "knowing" that it's a good 40 minutes before the bathroom.
It actually works! Fool the mind, avoid wet panties!"
[YEA] 01/17/2010: Karen from Alpharetta, Georgia: "I noticed when I took a magnesium tablet that the next day I didn't have a problem with incontinence. Then I did some research on the web and found that researchers accidently found out magnesium supplements will sometimes stop incontinence in people over 50. I take a 400 mg tablet daily. It works! Nice!"Replies
[YEA] 01/10/2012: Ravi C from Alpharetta, Ga, Usa replies: "I had mild incontinence and taking magnesium (400 mg) twice a day really helped."
04/25/2012: Viola from Hampton Bays, New York, Usa replies: "To Ravi from Alpharetta, Ga. -- what type of Magnesium do you use?"
07/15/2012: Smithsurfermom from Huntington Beach, Ca replies: "I was having trouble with incontinence a few years ago and just chocked it up to getting older. I was even checking out Drs. who specialized in treating it when my friend said her Dr. told her taking too many vitamins can cause it. I immediately stopped taking most of my vitmains except magnesium & vitamin D which I was low in and I stopped having the problem. Recently I switched to a magnesium containing zinc and calcium, thinking I should start taking calcium again, and now I am having the same sudden urges and incontinence again! I'm tossing those pills out and going back to straight magnesium again! I'm thinking it is the calcium as I never took zinc before but I'm just going back to straight magnesium. I take 500 mg. 2x per day. I tried researching it but couldn't find anything that said this but it is sure true for me. I'm so glad my firend mentioned it to me when she did or I may have gone through some kind of extreme treatment to fix something that just adjusting my vitamin intake fixed. Go figure!"
07/16/2012: Citygirl27 from Richardson, Tx, Usa replies: "I have never heard of that. I take "therapeutic" or "effective" doses of just about everything (i.e. Sometimes several times over what the FDA will make people put on the bottle) and have never had that problem. I did notice that it improved after I had both my kids when I reduced my caffeine intake and weight. Be sure it isn't the tea/soda/coffee or other caffeinated drink you're taking the supplements with that isn't causing it."
07/19/2012: Rachel from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire replies: "Hi there, read your comments re: supplements and magnesium. If you want to know why magnesium works for you compared to taking loads of vitamin pills look up IMVA particularly Mark Sircus book on Transdermal Magnesium Therapy. You will learn so much and it is sooooo interesting and helpful Be well and happy"
[YEA] 01/26/2013: Jemima Puddleduck from Halifax, Nova Scotia: "After suffering terrible urinary incontinence for the past two years (I'm 51 years old and figured it was part of menopause since it started around the same time as hot flashes) a few weeks ago it suddenly stopped. I had been going through 3 or 4 of the most absorbent pads every day, leaking steadily while walking and sometimes while just standing. I was thrilled and puzzled when one day the leaking just stopped. It seemed to correlate with starting to take MSM for my chronic allergic rhinitis after reading an article about MSM and allergies (sneezing constantly when you have urinary incontinence is no fun! ). That is the only thing I am doing differently (my allergies are a lot better too). I have been doing kegels for years with little success and was about to look into surgery.
After wondering whether MSM was responsible for this wonderful effect, I thought I would do a search to see if there was any info on the web about MSM and incontinence and ended up at this wonderful site. Thought I would add my experience. I take 1000 mg two or three times per day (I try for 3 times but the bottle says not to take them at bedtime and I often forget that third dose). Also, I'm not sure if its related, but I've lost 5 pounds as well when, if anything, I should have gained weight based on the amount of "fattening" foods I've been eating!"
[YEA] 05/04/2010: Catherine from Wellington, New Zealand: "To Ted: Early this year I had a very bad UTI and ended up in hospital. Afterwards I had trouble with extreme urgency and thought that I would now have to rely on pads for the rest of my life. I had already been taking ACV regularly, so no obvious help there...However, a couple of weeks ago I started regularly taking MSM (500mg x 2 times daily).I was suprised on the second day after starting that I no longer had the "before and after" dripping problem. On the third day I was amazed at being able to hold on for 10 minutes instead of the usual 10 seconds. Since then I have had no real problems and no longer need to wear pads. I have an idea about why this worked for me but of course I have no proof, but perhaps the infection weakened my bladder (or kidneys) sufficiently to allow some opportunistic parasites to invade and the MSM killed them off. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. As ever Earth Clinic is a wonderful source of information and support."
Parasite Cleanse, Buchu Leaves
[YEA] 12/31/2011: Chloe from Providence, Rhode Island: "I believe that bacteria or parasites are at the root of many instances of incontinence.
My mild cases of a "loose bladder" were completely fixed after I've done some sort of parasite cleanse. (Grapefruit Seed Extract, Black Walnut, Cloves, Garlic, Wormwood, Oregano Oil, Garlic.... Many that you can try)
Also try Organic Buchu Leaves. Search for only organic buchu online..."
12/20/2012: :( from Salmiya, Kuwait: "My sister 21 years old is diagnosed with urge incontinence. She has the problem since 10 months, tried all the muscular spasm medicines but it did not effect , nor any home remedy affecting. Any body here know of any cure. All her lab reports are normal. thank you, she is losing her weight too and just sits at home now because of this condition."Replies
12/20/2012: Lloyd from Charlotte, Nc replies: "I have seen a tablespoon of colloidal silver help with this. One study by an MD had male patients take the CS, a tablespoon at night and the results were the users had the urgency dramatically reduced and the ones getting up three times during the night reduce their "get up" call to once. I believe he had 40 patients he worked with. His theory as to why his patients improved was that the silver solution was killing a uninary track infection.
Might that work with a female? Well if it is viral or bacterial or fungal, the silver might kill the infection that in turn might be causing the problem. Worth a try. By the way, this worked with me personally."
12/21/2012: Connie from Slc, Utah, Usa replies: "Hi :( , from Salmiya, Kuwait ; Urinary urge incontinence may be a symptom of B12 deficiency. Weight loss may also be a symptom. Good wishes for you and your sister."
12/21/2012: Ed2010 from Oakville, Canada replies: "hi Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait: I hope ): is the same person. Most of the natural remedies mentioned in this site are available online in canada. If you google, you can find some sites. Just contact them whether they will ship to kuwait.

12/23/2012: Louwrencel from Rustenburg, North West, South Africa replies: "Hi Samiya, You can also strengthen the pelvic muscle by doing Kegel exercises, look it up on the net on how to do it, attack the problem from different angles."
10/24/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait: "My sister 21 years old.. Is having urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, frequency since past 8 months. She also compalins of dribbling every time. Shes home bound since then.. Went to medical specialists, to urologists but of not much use... She was given urospasm and detrusitol but it did not help. Her basic blood tests were done and all turned normal, also adh, glusose, creatinine all are in normal range... Now this is a very worrysome condition. Anybody here knows of any natural medicines that can help? thank you "Replies
10/24/2012: Plumhappy from Eugene, Oregon replies: "Perhaps this will help. I was diognosed with Inersticial Cystitis even though I did not have severe symptoms. Since then, I have found which foods agrivate my bladder (you can go on line and find the foods to avoid, mainly anything acidic and sugar) and for me, also gluten intolerance. I have found that anytime I get into gluten, the symptoms surface. It is amazing how much trouble gluten can cause. Keep in mind that one does not need to have all symptoms of any one health problem to have the problem. Each person is different. If she decides to try getting off of acidic foods and others foods, give it a month or so before adding one at a time back to see which ones are the culprit, if any. It would a a free thing to try and if she gets better without drugs, all the better. I also take MSM because it has rid me of inflamation, which is what IC is, a cronically inflamed bladder. I wish you success."
10/24/2012: Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand replies: "It sounds like a weak pelvic floor muscle, usually a vaginal cone inserted is a two week cure. But check with your urinary specialist."
10/24/2012: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Absa, Well, two things come to mind since the western drs don't seem to find anything out of the ordinary. First, have you ever heard of kegel exercises? They will tell you to do them after you have a baby to tone up the vaginal muscles. The way you do them is to feel as if you have to pee and you squeeze to stop the urine from coming out. You have to do a series of them and continue to build the amount to strengthen the muscles.
The second idea is to get to a Traditional Chinese medicine Dr. because most likely the kidney chi is weak. They can treat her and you would see results for sure! They can use both acupuncture and herbs. Hope this info helps. Lisa"
10/25/2012: Candy from Fort Madison, Ia replies: "Magnesium oil does wonders for this. I used to have this too, and now I don't even have to wear panti-liners. Just get some good magnesium oil and soak your feet in it for half hour every other day, and you should be much better. hope this helps."
10/25/2012: Ed2010 from Oakville, Canada replies: "Again, Milk Kefir does excellent job for Urinary and Bowel Incontinence. It is great for Elders who suffer incontinence.
Just drink 1 cup of home made milk kefir a day. It is the serotonin and the probiotics that does the job well. Kefir supports proper passage of signals around the region to contract and expand when required. And the probiotics eliminates any kind of infection.
It should be home made milk kefir, if not other products are ok too. You can see nice improvement in 1 week. thanks"
10/25/2012: Mary from Toronto, Canada replies: "High level of Calcium in blood causes it, google for more info. All the best!"
10/25/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait replies: "Thank you... Can you please suggest how I make milk kefir thanks a lot for the reply."
10/25/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait replies: "thank you... Drinking soda drinks it happens more. I do agree with you but even eliminating them did not cure me."
10/25/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait replies: "@Mary - according to blood analysis my corrected calcium was 2.1 L (normal range 2.2 L-2.6 L) "
10/25/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Hawally, Kuwait replies: "Thank you for the reply... I doubt if I can find any chinese dr in my area but I will for sure try kegel exercises. thanks again"
10/25/2012: Ed2010 from Oakville, Canada replies: "There are plenty of information about making milk kefir in the you tube.
I should mention, kefir has very little amount of alcohol. As you are from Kuwait, I thought to mention. But take this as a medicine. You are good. thanks"
11/15/2012: Absa from Salmiya, Kuwait replies: "I am not able to find milk kefir or magnesium oil in my area.. Is there any other alternative.. My sister's health is falling down now."
12/07/2012: Ab from Salmiya, Kuwait replies: "Found out that she has urge incontinence.... Currently on antimuscranincs and spasmodics... Not of much help.. She is also taking cranberry tablets. Is there any home remedy that might seem to be effective? thank you"
01/05/2013: Sherry from Grand Rapids, Mi. Usa replies: "bladder urge incontinence can be treated with MSM. But you need to get the msm that is plant based and not petrolium based. You need the good stuff that works and not the junk on the market. Jacob labratories out of Oregon has the good stuff!!!! The crystals are great. 2 teaspoons daily should do the trick in juice. 1 tea in the morning and another at night. MSM does take a bit of time to work. It takes time for enough of it to accumulate in your body before it will "do the job continually" I. E. for pain of any kind, but especially for artheritis there is nothing better. It has to do with how much sulpher you have in your body already with how soon it will work. For some it works right away and for others it takes a few months or several months, but when it kicks in, your pain is gone!!! Just keep taking it to keep the levels up after it "kicks in" and your good as gold. :)"
01/06/2013: Om from Hope, Bc Canada replies: "Yes, there is a remedy which costs nothing and works considering though everyone has different needs. It is called hydrotherapy. COLD water in a bucket. Sit in it just to cover private parts for two minutes. Repeat two to three times per day. It has helped me as it seems to tone the urinary tract. It is also good for regular elimination. However I stopped doing it and the problem returned. I think one has to repeat this intermittendly. Warm water is for cleansing, cold water for toning. I hope it is of help. Om"
