Milk   5  0

Posted by Write4cure (Denver, Colorado) on 07/18/2013

[YEA]  Milk for eye styes: I would have never believed it. I had a steye inside my lower lid that was excrutiating. I reviewed all of the recommendations and atecdotal stories about relief on this site. After deciding I wasn't about to try to anything gold inside my eye (LOL), I thought I would try both the green tea and milk poultices to see if I aould get some relief.

The warm green teabag poultice/compress felt good, but did nothing except just provide soothing heat for the time I applied it.

The milk, on the other hand, was a super relief to me. I heated regular homogenized cow milk in the microwave (about a 3/4 cup) for a minute. It was on the high side of warm and close to hot--(be careful it isn't too hot as to damage your tender skin around the eye). I soaked a clean compress pad in the milk, wrought out most of the excess, and applied to my eye and held it there for maybe 5-10 minutes max. Within that time, the stye had broken and began to exude its yuck, and my swelling and pain was alleviated. I continued this about every 4 hours for the next 16 hours. Amazing results/relief. Super results. Who would have thought? BTW, when I first read the accounts about milk as a relief, I thought "aww c'mon"-- but so interesting that it actually works! Wow. I recommend it, because for me, it worked beautifully.

[YEA]  My dad told me this one. I had painful sty in my eye and it was pain like someone had punched me. Warm water to first clean the eye with cotton wool. Then put few drop of warm milk on the sty in the eye area. For good measure, I soak cotton wool pad and put on my eye until cotton pad has gone cold. In the morning, the sty had burst, I washed eye with water and... it was gone! Only slight reddness, maybe one more day, but all gone.

Glad you were brought up in a village, sorry you suffered thru poverty... But this helped my eye. love you dad.

Go and buy Brewers Yeast right away to treat a sty. The same day you start using this the pain goes away. Within 3 days you don't even know you have it. Keep using it for 1 week just to make sure it goes away completely. If you get the bigger tablet take it 3 times a day. If you get the smaller round tablet take at least 2 of them 3 times a day. Read up on Brewers Yeast and Eye Health.

[YEA]  Milk is the best cure for a sty. My family has been using it for generations. Just poor milk directly in the eye and the sty will begin to drain in minutes.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]   "I poured milk in my infected eye last night. The sty on the inside drained all night long; however, the other sty that is directly on the bottom lining of my eye lid is full force today. Big, red and sore. I will try milk on it tonight when I get home. Really wishing I had some gold to rub on it...

[YEA]   "After learning so much from this site, I felt compelled to share my $.02 in hopes of maybe helping someone else! About 4 months ago, I started having issues with my right eye. It started out innocently enough (itchy and watery) - chalked it up to TX allergies. It would go away for a few days, then I'd wake up some mornings with the same eye red, swollen, and itchy. Not currently having medical insurance, I didn't feel this was q big enough issue to make a costly doctor's visit.

Over the course of the last few months, the condition would come and go - vacillating between symptoms of eye stye and pink eye. I tried many of the remedies I read about and had varying levels of success. ACV (diluted) by far was the most painful, I love ACV but my eyeball does not... I ingested ACV.. In addition to a plethora of vitamins I was taking at the time. I slept with hot tea bag compresses on my eye.. Washed all makeup brushes.. Tried many many things! Noticing last weekend that the little stye bump was smaller than I had seen it in months, I decided to return to this thread on EC to see if there was any stone I'd left unturned.. I felt like I was really close to kicking this thing!!

2 words. EVAPORATED MILK. Oh my goodness. I washed/rinsed both my eyes with this before I got in the shower a couple days ago. Showered, got teary as usual and to be honest, I really didn't notice any big difference. Yet lo and behold, as I was washing my face this morning, I realized the little red pinpoint sty that has haunted me the past couple months is NOT THERE... I have to attribute this to the evaporated milk - none of the other remedies tried provided such quick and painless relief!

I am glad that worked for you. I remember as a child when we had any eye problem my mother would send us to her cousin who was breast feeding and she would squeeze her breast milk into our eyes. That worked and we did not have to go to the doctor.

[YEA]   "Tea Bag for sty - sorry I couldn't edit the subject when submitting this comment..

Realised I had a sty yesterday for the first time when my girlfriend pointed it out to me, subsequently she had one the day before and dissapeared really quick with the use of some regular old eye drops.

Anyway, read about using green tea teabags for treating a sty. I didnt have any green tea teabags, but used rooibos tea teabags instead, I applied it twice for about 5 minutes each time then rinsed my eye with hot water (mostly just to get the remaining tea stain off my face lol), and BAM the sty has pretty much disappeared.

Flippen amazing, I'm quite surprised at how well it worked and in such a short amount of time, I was actually going to stop by the pharmacy today to get sty ointment until I came across this site.

Thanks for all the useful info on here. Definitely going to be coming to this site more often for the weird and wonderful things that people recommend.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  I had a stye/chalazion which I went to see an opthamologist about and she precribed cortizone and antibiotics, which in addition to seeming an "overkill" cure, cost between $150 and $200 with no precription benefits. No can do.

I went home and used a few cures. Internal immunity boost: 5000 Vitamin C, little extra A and tumeric and milk with honey throughout day. For the actual eye, I used tea bags soaked in tea (alternated Yogi "cold season tea and green), wrapped in sterile gauze and then I put a hot water bottle on top to keep it warm ( bc the teabag loses its warmth quickly and you want to increase circulation to drain the stye). In 24 hours it looks and feels better, is already not so itchy. My hubby says I don't look like a boxer anymore.

My husband gets stys and we just rub a gold 14 K ring on it a few times and it goes away!

[YEA]  "I'm not usually a blogger - but feel it necessary to write about my positive experiences with clearing a sty in 24 hours". Thank you so much EC. I read all the blogs on how to get rid of sty a on fixed income and no health insurance. So here goes... It was about the size of a peppercorn in the left eye and was hurting really bad. I rubbed with my gold ring-14k for about 5 minutes while sitting on a toilet. In the afternoon the sty size went somewhat down. I drank regular tea and placed a teabag on the eye. The swelling came back to bigger size... Then I applied baby bath wash with a qtip in the evening. I showered at night and felt it open up with steam, I put pressure on it lightly and felt stringy mucous come out. I applied the baby wash again before going to bed. I let it stay overnight. In the morning I washed my face, the sty bump was gone. It was flat. I applied Aloe Vera gel from Trader Joes ($2. 99) on sty area. This afternoon my son comments when he saw my face, "what did you do... How did you get rid of it. " Thank you again, it is gone n 24 hours!!!!!!

Onion   1  0

[YEA]  I have another remedy that cures sty's that people may want to try. Ever since I could remember, my mother uses a piece of onion (sauteed) no oil, just for heating purpuses. Warm it up til it's nice and hot and just rub it on your eye lid until the onion is no longer hot. Try this a couple of times and you will see results the same night/day you do this.

I have had an internal sty - right upper eyelid - for 12 days now. It has improved from being sore and inflamed and large, to a smaller nodular lump. I tried all the remedies, and the one that seemed to work best was massaging it with castor oil, and warm compresses. However it is still there.

The reason for my concern is that it has blurred the vision in my right eye a bit so that everything is a little out of focus. Since I am a writer, this is very distressing. I would appreciate any help from anyone very much!

Thanks, Tristan

I had a few styes recently. They got big and painful. What I eventually found to work was a 50/50 spray of lavender oil/water and rubbing a gold chain on the area. Two of them opened up and gooed a bit, just catch all of goo on a tissue and spray more lavender to prevent spread of infection! Good luck

I've never had a full-blown sty and it could possibly be because every time I've felt something coming around my eye, I've rubbed gold on it. I was a teenager when a friend had styes that looked so painful, and mom told us to rub gold on the sty to get rid of it. It's been 30 years and I've never had one develop... Coincidence or cure?!?

Salt   1  0

Posted by Grace (London, UK) on 12/14/2008

[YEA]  Previously I have used a gold ring to cure my styes, usually it works right away and if not within a few hours but it does not always work sadly. I say sadly because I am often afflicted by these horrible things.

Recently I developed a large painful sty, it was causing me great discomfort and making me want to stay in the house so no one would see my inflamed eye! I hate that feeling.

Despite rubbing my gold ring on it and applying hot compresses and warm tea bags on it repeatedly plus putting castor oil on the stye at night, it was just getting worse to my horror, it was large, swollen and red.

The following day I washed my eye with a turmeric solution and also did a steam inhalation aimed to 'open' up the stye and decongest it from the pus. I did this by leaning over a bowl of freshly boiled water with a few drops of essential oils of tea tree, lavender, geranium and patchouli- these oils are used to fight staph- with a towel on my head.

The sty was still there, that horrible creature!

Finally I tried the salt remedy. This was my last resort as this is a very painful remedy.

I put a little salt in a shot glass with some warm water and bathed my eye. I opened my eye and boy did the pain kick in! I was worried in fact that I was hurting myself but I guessed if my eye can survive saltwater in the sea then it can survive this. After that I applied externally to the bump of the sty a salt and water paste which I left to dry.

Thank goodness for salt. The salt really seems to have dried up the worst of the stye and helped to purge the offending swellings....

Tea   2  0

Posted by Alana (Chicago, Il) on 08/03/2009

[YEA]  Tea bags cured my eye styes! I had a sty on my eyelid and one under my eye for over a year. One morning I woke up with another one right on the edge of my eye that was really irritating so I found this home remedy and it worked within 24 hours. I grabbed a tea bag (i think it was green tea, but it most likely doesn't matter) soaked it in warm water until it actually produced tea, then held the bag on each stye for ~15 minutes. I felt instant relief on the newest stye so I then repeated the process and held it for longer each time. 2 of the 3 styes are gone and the 3rd is definitely smaller. I'm sure if I kept at it they all would have disappeared but it is a bit awkward holding a teabag to your eye for long periods of time!

[YEA]  Stye (I think that this might have an E but Im not sure)

I had a stye about a month ago and I tried putting tea on the stye. Within a couple of hours it was almost gone. I had read that tea helps with swelling so I gave it a try. I simply put a tea bag in warm water for about 1 minute and then poured out all of the water let it cool a bit (you want it to be warm but not too warm to touch) then use a couple of Qtips to soak up some of the tea (by depressing the Qtip on the warm tea bag) make sure it isnt too hot and place the Qtip with the tea on it directly onto the stye. And within a couple of hours it should feel better. I dont think that the type of tea matters but I did use a Green Tea baggie.

EC: Thanks, Candice. Medical websites have it both ways - "sty" and "stye". Which one is correct, anyone know?

Turmeric   2  0

Posted by Jesse (Sacremento, CA) on 02/12/2009

[YEA]  Wow. I was kind of skeptical about this at first but it was just a couple dollars down the drain if it doesn't. BUT IT DID WORK! I got a stye on my eye (which is caused by staph) and in 3 days of drinking 1 tsp of turmeric 2-3x a day it was gone. I'll admit warm water plus the powder isn't the best taste to have stuck in your mouth. The other day I had a pimple type thing in my nose that i could've swore was mrsa, it was hurting and red even on the outside of my nose (i know it would've got bigger, it's happened before) and in a day it was gone. Thanks!

[YEA]  Hi All - esp. Wendy,
I had a very nasty sty on my upper eyelid for some days before discovering the TURMERIC CURE here @ EARTH CLINIC. I immediately diluted a little in warm water in a liqueur glass & bathed my eye with this - holding the glass very close to my eye to prevent spillage. I kept it in place for a minute or less, and VOILA! within hours (can't recall how many) the sty reached a head & burst on its own. I helped to drain it using hot water on cotton wool & the little that remained disappeared within the next 24hrs. THANK YOU EARTH CLINIC & to everyone that has kindly contributed their testimonials as well! TURMERIC really works like MAGIC! Thanks GOD too for this AWESOME gift! :)
Love, light & healing ALL,
@nnie

Urine   3  0

Posted by Emma (Melbourne, VIC Australia) on 01/14/2009

[YEA]  I know there's some stigma over using this-but quite a lot of skin creams contain urea-one of the major components of urine. I can tell you that getting a small amount of fresh urine on a cotton wool ball and applying it to styes, works a treat-your stye will be gone in a few hours-may need a couple of applications though.

You can also rub a 14K piece of gold (ring) on the sty a few times a day and it stops it. As weird as it sounds it's worked for my husband a few times.

Urine Therapy   1  0

[YEA]  To relieve pressure from a sty within a short time (less than 4 hours). Place a small amount of your first urine discharged of the day into a small glass. Drip a Q-tip in the urine and place Q-tip on the sty. You will feel relief in 3o minutes and decrease of sty swelling with in 4 hours. Label glass and cover with Saran wrap and reapply in the afternoon if swelling and pain continues. Done this trick with great sucess through out my 56 years on planet earth.
