Apple Cider Vinegar, Tea Tree Oil
05/02/2010: Pat from Athens, Al, Usa: "I've been using ACV as a toner and following up with tea tree oil. I was wondering if anyone has mixed essential oils such as tea tree oil, lavender oil, etc. right WITH the ACV or should the ACV be used separately? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any input.

Apricot Scrub, Drink Water

[YEA] 05/16/2006: Juliet from Bombay India: "Scrub your face with apricot scrub and drink a lot of water. Your pores open up and your dead skin is removed thus leaving your skin younger and cleaner."
Replies[YEA] 06/13/2008: Matt from Columbus, Georgia replies: "I use an Apricot Scrub for an exfoliant every morning and night. I also wash with soap and HOT water, then a splash of cool water. I am 30 but people mistake me for being under 20."
Avoid Sugar

[YEA] 11/16/2009: Taleen from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl: "One important thing about the skin I have learned over the years is that sugar really affects it. If I have something sweet to eat at night, I wake up the next morning with dark circles under my eyes and dry, cracked skin that looks like it has aged something fierce overnight. I have been diligent lately and cutting back my sugar intake throughout the day and I can see a difference in my skin. You know the saying, you are what you eat? I believe it! What you eat immediately shows through your pores. I am also starting to juice every day too with greens like kale and swiss chard, apples and lemons. It gets expensive buying organic produce to juice, but the weight loss is great and my skin is glowing."
Avoid the Sun, Facial Exercises

[YEA] 03/02/2007: Kerstin from San Francisco, CA: "Rule # 1 is STAY OUT OF THE SUN - it will kill your skin!! I which I would have done this myself years ago and not waited until recent years... AVOID THE SUN!! Instead use "tan without sun lotion.
FACIAL EXCERCISE: This might sound silly but when you really think about it totally makes sense! About 10 years ago I started noticing that God forbid, I too was aging and I did not like the changes I saw every time I looked in to the mirror. What could be done to at least somewhat slow down the collapsing of my face... and I was thinking, to get in shape and tighten up we have various exercises for every part of the body that is...with the exception of the face! At least I had never heard of anybody exercising their face!! So I put in a search on the Internet and after some research I found that it was actually quite popular in the 60ies. Today there is tons of facial exercise programs to choose between etc etc. Anyway, I swear by it, it DEFINITELY helps and people always think I am about 15 years younger than my actual age. If I ever had any doubts about the benefit I am more convinced now then ever. About one month ago I fractured my elbow and totally slacked and didn't really do any exercises and boy....what a difference!! Scary!!!! Thank god it only takes a couple of days to see some visible result. Good luck. Oh and by the way my mum who looks 20 years younger than her age has always been preaching: DRINK a lot of water... and ALWAYS USE LOTION FOR YOUR FACE AND BODY."
Replies05/19/2008: Shirley from Alexandria, MN replies: "What kind of facial exercises do you do?"
10/30/2008: Shela from Johannesburg, South Africa replies: "Please tell me what facial exercises you use."
01/07/2009: Ellen from Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico replies: "You can do any kind of face exercises. The point is to do some. Look on the web via your browser at videos and you will find info. There are books you can buy, videos etc. I have started doing facial exercise and already in 4 days the changes are evident. I am 54. My husband is 36! I have always had great skin but my muscle tone in my face was not as good as the tone in my body. I am so against all the cutting and pulling that goes on and the fat grafting etc. I knew there had to be a natural way and after researching compulifting, I came upon face exercise. You will see a couple of women who teach this who are amazing examples. One lady is 80 and looks 45 and the other is 62 and also looks in her 30's. Just research on the web and please don't be fooled by those young beautiful girls who try to sell you their exercise tapes. Find the gals who have been doing this for years and see the before and afters. This is also for men. Enjoy! You will feel great!"
EC: Ellen, any websites you can recommend? Thanks!
01/17/2009: Deb from San Francisco, CA replies: "Regarding facial exercises, just having a facial will give you an idea of how to treat your face. While I have really great skin due to genes (my great aunt was 92+ and you could count the number of facial wrinkles on one hand. I've done facial exercises mimicking a facial for years and I use olay products. I'm 53 and get mistaken for 34 all the time. Even the dermatologist I see for sun damage is amazed by how soft and smooth my skin is."
[QUESTION] 01/19/2009: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands replies: "Hi, A couple weeks or so ago, someone wrote about how by doing a facial exerise some very old woman of 70 yrs old was looking very young. In response EC asked her for any website suggestions. Can you please tell me under which category to find that post and if that person or anyone else provided the website for facial exercies. Thanks. Sangeetha"
[YEA] 01/20/2009: Bessie from Calgary, Alberta, Canada replies: "To Sangeetha: Regarding facial exercises, you may want to do a search on the Internet. There are quite a few sites (too numerous to list but here is one: www.shapeyourface.com) with lots of free information. Also, try YouTube and search for "Jack Lalanne" (face exercises) - he was the original back in the 60s and his exercises are still very effective. You may also want to check out the YouTube video on "How to Give Yourself a Facial Massage" - it will really get your face glowing. Good luck!"
Baking Soda Scrub for Beautiful Skin
Home Remedy Ingredients:
- Baking Soda
- Water
About once a week, mix a bit of baking soda with enough water to make a paste and gently scrub this into your skin. Baking soda makes an excellent exfoliant and keeps pathogens under control.

[YEA] 01/26/2010: Red from Chicago, Il: "I read about Baking Soda being used as an exfoliant and decided to try it. The skin on my face is very dry and flaky, more now in the winter than otherwise. Take about a tablespoon of baking soda and make a paste with a drizzle of water. After you've washed your face, massage the baking soda paste onto your damp face with your fingertips, avoiding the eye area. After about a minute, rinse it away well with lukewarm water and follow with a moisturizer. After one use, my skin was smoother and less bumpy. You might not want to make this part of your daily routine, as more delicate skin can get irritated. But try it a few times a week, more if your skin doesn't get sore or red. It also makes a great scrub for dry, cracking feet and hands! I use a little on my knees and elbows, and this dollar box of baking soda works better and lasts longer than any ten dollar tube of body scrub I ever bought!"
Replies[SIDE EFFECTS] 12/03/2011: Carlos from Barcelona, Spain replies: "I used to be an advocate of baking soda but I have to warn people with sensitive skin, freckles or rosacea. I think it's too strong dryng for people with sensitive skin. I've been using the oil cleansing method with coconut oil and it has helped clean my pores etc. Renewing my skin of dead cells etc without irritation. Baking soda may be ok for other skin types. Anyway I think rubbing is too damaging. If you want to use it the best way and safest may be open your pores with hot water. Apply baking soda without scrubbing it, just leave it on for a count to 10 and rinse. Enough to clean your skin and not damage your skin."
08/10/2012: Eve\'s from Parma, Parma Italy replies: "baking soda without scrubbing, , , , I agree by leaving the baking soda in your face for ten minutes without scrubbing maybe its the same action and it will not damage your skin, maybe using this procedure for the sensitive delicate skin type."
01/18/2013: Jessica from Bf , Ky replies: "You guys aren't applying it DRY, are you? That is indeed to abbrasive, for the face anyway. I make a very thin paste by adding water and lightly massaging small circles into my face. Today I used diluted acv, rather than just water. The paste seemed softer than when I make it with water, and my face has felt great all day."
[QUESTION] 05/02/2009: Liz from Annapolis, Maryland, USA: "I just found your site and want to try the baking soda scrub on my face. Before I do, I have a question. Can you spend time in the sun afterwards? Can you sweat? I ask this because I read it burns a little. The reason this concerns me is because the only other experience I have with something burning on my face is Retin-A. In high school I used my mom's supply to clear up my face and went to my soccer game - when i started sweating my face burned so bad I had to come out on the game and put an icepack on it. NEVER AGAIN! I know some products make your skin more sensitve to sunlight. THANKS!"
Replies05/02/2009: T from Maryland, USA replies: "I haven't gone in the sun right after using it, but I've sweated doing housework after it and felt nothing. Just be sure to thoroughly rinse your face after a brief gentle scrub with it. Unlike with the Retin-A, you're leaving nothing on the skin, just doing a scrub and rinse."
06/19/2009: Therese from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada replies: "i am new to this site, i am reading about skin scrubs, baking soda i see replys but dont see where the actual formula to use is? how do i find it?"
[YEA] 08/18/2008: Anastacia from Pittsburgh , PA: "I Love this site!!!!! This site has quickly become one of my favorites as I love to find natural cures. I started using baking soda about 2 months ago thanks to this site and the wonderful people sharing their input. I had been using some rather expensive facial cleansers bought at department stores (I've even used proactive in the past) but after using the baking soda my skin feels truly clean and soft. I'm hooked and will not go back to using anything else ever again. Many people, people I see often and strangers on the street come up to me and say how beauiful my skin looks which is wonderful to hear considering that I was battling acne and wrinkles at the same time-no more!!! My face has cleared, my pores are smaller and it just feels and looks soft and healthy...the only thing I think I'll continue to buy is the moisturizer that I use because it has a 30 spf...that is unless I discover a wonderful replacement on this site."
Replies[YEA] 01/24/2011: Mzelliec from Evansville, Wi/usa replies: "Baking Soda face scrub1-3 times a week only.. And use coconut oil afterwards.. I use this Coconut oil everyday I do not put anything on my body that I would not eat.. Those chemicals are all bad for us.. I use 1/2 and 1/2 water and ACV to wash my face and body..... I also drink Ted's remedies... Thanks to Ted and those who work soooooo hard for all of us... excellant info ..."
06/23/2011: Lourdes from Bronx, Ny replies: "I am gonna try the baking soda sounds good just 2 questions. 1. I have oily skin, sometimes I use products oil free and it over drys my face. how will the baking soda leave my face being I have oily skin? 2. Since I have oily skin can I use coconut oil or olive oil?"
09/12/2011: Ida from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia replies: "sometime my face oily too.. What I do is I applied aloe vera to my face. From what I've experienced.. My face dry for 2 to 3 days.. But not too dry.. My face will get too dry if I put it everyday... Plus I've heard that aloe vera have a natural healing of damaged skin.. :) correct me if I'm wrong.."
[YEA] 07/11/2008: Erian from Laguna, Philippines: "I've tried baking soda scrub and olive oil moisturizer and after a couple of weeks people notice the firmness and glow on my face. they were asking what am I using but I refuse to tell since they are not familiar of using such home remedies. for now im trying to add ACV in my olive oil since it can whitens skin... ill give you an update when i see the difference. God is good for providing those natural things to us... "
Replies06/04/2009: Suesgi from Gilbert, Az replies: "I am new to this site, i want to understand how much quantity of ACV & oliveoil one should use to make your skin look white n for how long, will you pls publish the reply for me. Thanks suesgi"
[YEA] 07/10/2008: Naomi from Attard, Malta: "Firstly I would like to congratulate you about this site - Brilliant!
I've tried the Baking Soda Mask - put around 3tbls baking soda and a little water - put it on my face for 30sec, it burned about HOWEVER the results are fantastic..i followed with a honey mask - I basically used 1 teaspoon .. skin is glowing and soft. Those who have not tried it PLS give it a try, its worth it!"
12/28/2008: Alexandra from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada replies: "i was wondering how often you are suppose to do these mask? and also is it at all beneficial to do it at night or when you wake up?"
07/05/2010: Pahlee from Phila., Pa. replies: "After the baking soda cleanse is the honey applied alone and how long do you leave it on before washing it off?"
[YEA] 06/24/2008: Ann from Bloomfield, Iowa: "Hi I am a 49 yr. old woman and i found your site.So i thought i would give the Baking Soda Scrub a try and i could not believe the results the first time i scrubbed my face with it.I had large pores on my left cheek due to pimples in younger years and within a few minutes after rinsing the scrub off i could barely see them and i have used it again an now they aren't even noticable. Thanks so much for this great info on your site. Going to try the ACV next. Thanks again."
[YEA] 06/10/2008: Barbara from Palisades, New York: "The best exfoliator for the skin is baking soda. Make a paste to the consistency of your liking with water and message gently. Small pores, glowing skin-especially if you have oily skin. Keeps wrinkles at bay or diminishes one you already have...cheap too! It transformed my horrible oily skin, cleans pores deep-so less breakouts for sure!"
[YEA] 03/29/2008: JEnny from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada: "I just tried using baking soda and olive oil as a face wash/scrub. It works great! It evens out my skin tone and leaves my face feeling clean and soft. The baking soda does sting a little but they say "beauty is pain"!!!"
Replies07/05/2010: Pahlee from Phila., Pa. replies: "Is the baking soda and honey mixed together? If not, how much of soda and how much of honey?"
04/26/2012: Abi from Johor, Malaysia replies: "I have pimples skin, I'm 38 years old, how to have baby skin, clear skin without wrinkes, Can I use baking soda?"
[YEA] 02/12/2008: Tizsen from London, UK: ".. For my skin, after reading your comments, I wash with Baking Soda and massage lightly (sometimes with a facecloth) with COLD water, and then applying little ACV and water as a TONER, and finally Vitamin E oil on my face. I did not mention this to anyone, but my sisters at home IMMEDIATELY noticed my skin glowing plus the less noticeable pores on my T-zone....which is a relief"
Replies10/03/2012: Jeane from Cebu, Phils replies: "i cant understand what is that ACV?... I am 28 yrs old. , I suffered the stubborn pimples for almost 5 yrs now... I already used the olive oil, that honey and even turmeric but still a disappointing result?... anybody can give me an advise?...thanks...."
[YEA] 08/10/2007: Natalia from London, UK: "I use baking soda from childhood and specially as exfoliation for face even if it hurts its worth it and always add to my sponge to rub my body all over as it best cleans than anything else, and if half a cup of soda added to a cool bath(submerge with a head) it removes negativity and balances electromagnetic field of the body.My skin is very good i think as a result."
[YEA] 07/28/2007: Jackie from Grand rapids, Minnesota: "after learning the basic remedies here and feeling so much better and realizing our skin absorbs anything put on it, i omitted my antiaging skin products and makeup (containing a long list of chemical names) for a few days. I will never go back. i use baking soda for cleanser, vegetable glycerin with a drop of rose-geranium essential oil for moisturizer and burts bees lip shimmer for lipstick and blush can't believe the improvement. i also use borax for bathing and use veg. glycerin and rose-geranium oil for perfume rather than a perfume with all the chemicals. this is a nice soft scent that lasts all day. it's recommended to change the essential oil scent every 2 weeks"
