I have heard the best reviews on this site aabout ACV and couldnt wait to use it but I have a question for everyone, I hav a very sensitive skin. I have been having break outs all my life and im only 24. I have tried the most expensive products in market but nothing has worked for me.

My question is can I apply my normal "jurlique" daily creams after applying Apple Cider Vinegar and what exact quantity and how many times should I repeat it as an application for my face and even to drink?

Thanks so much"

01/13/2012: Charamon from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "I am soooooooo happy I found this site. I have always known about Apple Cider Vinegar but never knew about the benefits for the skin. I'm 45 yrs old and 3 years ago I started having skin problems and discover a very expensive product $400.00 that worked wonders on my skin!!!! (better had) Many people thought I was 30 yrs old. Due to the price I was no longer able to afford the product and now my skin looks like crap!!! I purchased the natural avc some months ago and after a week my girlfriend noticed my skin but I stopped, bad decision.

I am now starting my Apple Cider Vinegar facial again and I hope my skin gets better. Also I have VERY BAD facial hair on my chin area that I have to pluck daily, I have waxed also and use the medicine product that removes the hair but the hair returns if the product is not in use. Not only do I have the ugly hair issue but the plucking has left scars on my neck and chin. Will the cider remove the dark spot too? Someone please help me with this hair and dark spots on the chin issue. I am African American with brown skin so the scars show. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated."

01/15/2012: Rachel from Manchester, New Hampshire, Usa replies: "I don't know what your skin problem is, but for me this works wonders:

1. facial STEAMING

2. after steaming, then exfoliate. Glycolic Acid can be purchased on Amazon. I got 35% but next time I'm going for stronger, like 70%.

3. As an alternative to glycolic acid, rub brown sugar and olive oil over your face (also after steaming, which loosens the flaky cells). Wait 15-20 minutes then rinse. Sugar has natural glycolic acid.

4. You could also try yogurt or kefir or buttermilk on face; the lactic acid in these fermented drinks works well too. Always steam, first, whenever possible.

My problem is facial seborrhea; I have the chronic dry flakies. These approaches work. "

I used ACV as a toner to my face twice daily for beneath the skin acne and enlarged facial pores and I saw a fantastic difference in 3 days. There are only a few visible pores left, only seen when I stand close enough to the mirror to see my breathe. I also have a glow to my skin that is unbelievable. I've always loved my skin but didn't always treat it with love an care--but now seeing it glowing and healthy I am intent to add ACV to my diet for internal cleansing too. Thank you God for ACV!!!"

[YEA]  05/01/2010: Carrie from Denver, Colorado, Usa writes: "I have been using a facial toner of 1/2 ACV and 1/2 water, put into a small spray bottle. I spray this on my face in the mornings and evenings. Every other day, I exfoliate my face with baking soda. I have seen a big difference! My skin tone is even, pores are much smaller, and skin looks great! The only drawback is that others in my household don't appreciate the smell of vinegar wafting thru the air."

Your spray bottle idea seems very practical. Can you tell me if you rinse off the ACV and Water toner? Or do you let it dry and apply your moisturizer afterwards? Also, how do you use the baking soda to exfoliate? Please advise... Thanks so much!"
[YEA]  05/03/2010: Lita209 from Sanford, Fl, Usa replies: "Carrie I do almost the same as you, the 1/2 ACV 1/2 water spray bottle and the baking soda as an exfoliant, sometimes a add borax to the baking soda and I don't exfoliate as frequently as you do. I thought I noticed smaller pores, better complexion, but I didn't think much. Last Saturday a customer asked me if I've had a peeling or dermabrasion done. She said she could see a difference on my skin with my acne scars and complexion. So now that I know it is not my imagination I'll definitely make sure I keep doing this and exfoliate more often. Thanks EC!!!"

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, BAKING SODA, OIL PULLING

[YEA]  05/01/2008: Shelly from Taipei City at present, Philippines writes: "After reading this website I tried intake of ACV with water only, diluted ACV as face toner, baking soda as facial cleanser, oil pulling and making my homemade moisturizer! Too much at a time but no regrets since its the best ever regimen I have done for myself. Right away many benefits I have felt as follows: energized, more focus (I am a graduate student), not sluggish in the morning and late night, radiant face and no break outs, smaller pores and very light feeling on my face, smooth, supple and babyface, not oily but moisturized skin, am proud to tell that genital areas becomes amazingly moisturized and felt so clean (never felt moisturized this way before), more confidence and it feels great! Thanks to all this amazing testimonials and natural products we have around! HOwever, I am still tryin to experiment on the best way of taking in ACV without sore throat and stomach pain. My Vit C intake once a day after ACV helps to ease the acidic feeling on my stomach since my natural Vit C (1000mg) is basic-based product. Try my moisturizer mix: 5ml glycerin (make sure high grade quality) 5ml grapeseed oil 5ml sesame oil 5ml honey at night use this moisturizer mix after toning (ACV diluted in distilled water) baking soda as cleanser can be 3x a week, then use papaya soap as intervals, in the morning use very small amt of moisturizer mix after facial cleansing, let it subsides for at least 3mins then apply your regular foundation with sunscreen and pressed/loosed powder preferably with sunscreen also. If you want to become more fairer use fluid whitening (no to cream since it can clog pores based on my experience) use it in the daytime only since at night all natural should be use,in this way you avoid using commercially available products with added chemicals while at your most serene time of boosting radiance and youthfulness on your face. This can make you confident and radiant all day long! Have a nice try! Godbless you all!"

05/06/2008: shelly from Taipei City at present, Philippines replies: "I just want to add more on my testimonial and have some modification, after experimenting on my own face, I noticed that Grapeseed oil alone can be enough as my daily moisturizer since my skin type is moderately oily and I get better results. I am determined to use baking soda as my daily cleanser, then ACV diluted in distilled water as my toner and lastly grapeseed oil as my moisturizer, plus in daytime fluid whitening with suncreen and my super fine NB 23 compact powder. Daily intake of 1000mg Vit C alkaline based, 2tbsp ACV, and oil pulling before going to bed and in the morning after brushing my teeth. Once a week I pamper my body skin with the original moisturizer I mentioned on my first post since my body skin type is not as sensitive as my face. I hope this can help you too if you try it to yourself."
04/27/2009: Caitlin from Austin, tx replies: "I too was getting stomach aches after the ACV. I once had a duodenal ulcer and my stomach is prone to upsets. I have found that 1/4 teaspoon of powdered magnesium citrate added to 1 TABlsp of ACV excellent for this. I do this first thing in the morning, last drink at night before bed. The baking soda made my teeth feel very rough so I tried the magnesium citrate and I dont get stomach aches at all and my teeth feel fine with it. I also seasame oil pull last thing before brushing teeth at night. I then wet a cotton pad with water then dunk it with ACV and wash my face with it followed by 4 drops of coconut oil. I leave it on overnight until I rinse my face with plain, cold water in the morning. Leaves my skin glowing, smooth, tight and dark spots are totally disappearing. These are the 3 things I am consistent about. Baking soda is way too rough on my skin and hydrogen peroxide left it so dry, I began to get lines. Was taking coconut oil internally but found that I really do have what I always suspected, a nut allergy. The VCO does not seem to affect me externally though, just internally. I get a rashy fungus on my upper lip that spreads to under my chin and the sides of my face and nose and around my elbows. This is not a cleansing as I had hoped. If I eat nuts consistently, I get this plus gouty tweaks in my toes. When I stop eating all nuts, the rash and tweaks goes away. Anyway.. try the magnesium citrate powder and see if it helps. Magnesium is great for women; we dont get enough of it. Zinc as well. My skin looks 100 times better with the regime I now follow for skin that was once so awful when I was young, people would scream when I came around a corner. Hope this helps."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, COCONUT OIL

[YEA]  03/11/2009: Alphanie from Greensboro, NC writes: "First I want to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SITE! I discovered it 2 years ago and I swear that everything I've tried (with a few twists of my own) has done wonders for extremely gorgeous skin, energy level and overall health. One thing that I can accredit the many compliments I receive on my skin is ACV and VCO. I religiously do is tone my face with ACV twice a week (have been doing so for 2 years now). The first two times it felt like my face was on fire and I couldn't bare it, but I figured to take away the burn by adding something soothing to it to help balance it out. I add a teaspoon of pure honey and a tablespoon of half of a mashed banana and then about 3 or 4 drops of ACV. I dab it on my face with a cotton ball then I smear it all over the face as if I'm softly rubbing it in. I can still my feel my face tingling a bit and a light sensation (kind of like a noxema sensation), but it doesn't burn anymore and the redness isn't half as bad and normally goes away shortly after washing off. My skin is to die for after I wash it off. I moisturize my face with VCO. People (even strangers) always ask what I use on my skin."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, OLIVE OIL

[YEA]  07/25/2009: Dianna from Austin, TX writes: "Being a women in her late 40's (49) I worry about wrinkles, age spots and skin tone.

Recently I started using olive oil to clean my face and for moisture and it works well; but since I have added ACV it is working even better.

What I do is mix ACV half and half with water and add a few drops of lavender essential oil. I also add a few drops of lavender EO to my extra virgin olive oil. I keep them both in separate glass bottles.

I wet my face and take a cotton ball and turn the bottle of ACV upside down on it til the pad is pretty damp. Then I do the same thing with the EVOO bottle on top of the ACV on the cotton ball.

Then I use this cotton pad to wipe my face clean. It really cleans well and has a cooling feeling from the ACV.

After I finish cleaning I rinse my face with water and then massage the remaining Extra Virgin Olive Oil into my skin.

Occasionally I will first scrub my wet face with a tiny bit of baking soda and then use this method.

Using this method has made my skin feel much smoother and an age spot that was lingering has finally disappeared. Also my crows feet are softened and my skin seems much more vibrant and alive!!!"

AVOID SUGAR

[YEA]  11/16/2009: Taleen from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl writes: "One important thing about the skin I have learned over the years is that sugar really affects it. If I have something sweet to eat at night, I wake up the next morning with dark circles under my eyes and dry, cracked skin that looks like it has aged something fierce overnight. I have been diligent lately and cutting back my sugar intake throughout the day and I can see a difference in my skin. You know the saying, you are what you eat? I believe it! What you eat immediately shows through your pores. I am also starting to juice every day too with greens like kale and swiss chard, apples and lemons. It gets expensive buying organic produce to juice, but the weight loss is great and my skin is glowing."

AVOID THE SUN, FACIAL EXERCISES

QUESTION

[YEA]  03/02/2007: Kerstin from San Francisco, CA writes: "Rule # 1 is STAY OUT OF THE SUN - it will kill your skin!! I which I would have done this myself years ago and not waited until recent years... AVOID THE SUN!! Instead use "tan without sun lotion.

FACIAL EXCERCISE: This might sound silly but when you really think about it totally makes sense! About 10 years ago I started noticing that God forbid, I too was aging and I did not like the changes I saw every time I looked in to the mirror. What could be done to at least somewhat slow down the collapsing of my face... and I was thinking, to get in shape and tighten up we have various exercises for every part of the body that is...with the exception of the face! At least I had never heard of anybody exercising their face!! So I put in a search on the Internet and after some research I found that it was actually quite popular in the 60ies. Today there is tons of facial exercise programs to choose between etc etc. Anyway, I swear by it, it DEFINITELY helps and people always think I am about 15 years younger than my actual age. If I ever had any doubts about the benefit I am more convinced now then ever. About one month ago I fractured my elbow and totally slacked and didn't really do any exercises and boy....what a difference!! Scary!!!! Thank god it only takes a couple of days to see some visible result. Good luck. Oh and by the way my mum who looks 20 years younger than her age has always been preaching: DRINK a lot of water... and ALWAYS USE LOTION FOR YOUR FACE AND BODY."

01/07/2009: Ellen from Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico replies: "You can do any kind of face exercises. The point is to do some. Look on the web via your browser at videos and you will find info. There are books you can buy, videos etc. I have started doing facial exercise and already in 4 days the changes are evident. I am 54. My husband is 36! I have always had great skin but my muscle tone in my face was not as good as the tone in my body. I am so against all the cutting and pulling that goes on and the fat grafting etc. I knew there had to be a natural way and after researching compulifting, I came upon face exercise. You will see a couple of women who teach this who are amazing examples. One lady is 80 and looks 45 and the other is 62 and also looks in her 30's. Just research on the web and please don't be fooled by those young beautiful girls who try to sell you their exercise tapes. Find the gals who have been doing this for years and see the before and afters. This is also for men. Enjoy! You will feel great!"

EC: Ellen, any websites you can recommend? Thanks!

01/17/2009: Deb from San Francisco, CA replies: "Regarding facial exercises, just having a facial will give you an idea of how to treat your face. While I have really great skin due to genes (my great aunt was 92+ and you could count the number of facial wrinkles on one hand. I've done facial exercises mimicking a facial for years and I use olay products. I'm 53 and get mistaken for 34 all the time. Even the dermatologist I see for sun damage is amazed by how soft and smooth my skin is."
[QUESTION]  01/19/2009: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands replies: "Hi, A couple weeks or so ago, someone wrote about how by doing a facial exerise some very old woman of 70 yrs old was looking very young. [YEA]  01/20/2009: Bessie from Calgary, Alberta, Canada replies: "To Sangeetha: Regarding facial exercises, you may want to do a search on the Internet. There are quite a few sites (too numerous to list but here is one: www.shapeyourface.com) with lots of free information. Also, try YouTube and search for "Jack Lalanne" (face exercises) - he was the original back in the 60s and his exercises are still very effective. QUESTION

[YEA]  01/26/2010: Red from Chicago, Il writes: "I read about Baking Soda being used as an exfoliant and decided to try it. The skin on my face is very dry and flaky, more now in the winter than otherwise. Take about a tablespoon of baking soda and make a paste with a drizzle of water. After you've washed your face, massage the baking soda paste onto your damp face with your fingertips, avoiding the eye area. After about a minute, rinse it away well with lukewarm water and follow with a moisturizer. After one use, my skin was smoother and less bumpy. You might not want to make this part of your daily routine, as more delicate skin can get irritated. But try it a few times a week, more if your skin doesn't get sore or red. It also makes a great scrub for dry, cracking feet and hands! I use a little on my knees and elbows, and this dollar box of baking soda works better and lasts longer than any ten dollar tube of body scrub I ever bought!"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  12/03/2011: Carlos from Barcelona, Spain replies: "I used to be an advocate of baking soda but I have to warn people with sensitive skin, freckles or rosacea. I think it's too strong dryng for people with sensitive skin. I've been using the oil cleansing method with coconut oil and it has helped clean my pores etc. Renewing my skin of dead cells etc without irritation. Baking soda may be ok for other skin types. Anyway I think rubbing is too damaging. If you want to use it the best way and safest may be open your pores with hot water. Apply baking soda without scrubbing it, just leave it on for a count to 10 and rinse. Enough to clean your skin and not damage your skin."

Can you spend time in the sun afterwards? Can you sweat? I ask this because I read it burns a little. The reason this concerns me is because the only other experience I have with something burning on my face is Retin-A. In high school I used my mom's supply to clear up my face and went to my soccer game - when i started sweating my face burned so bad I had to come out on the game and put an icepack on it. NEVER AGAIN! I know some products make your skin more sensitve to sunlight. THANKS!"
