Natural Remedies to Treat Sjogren's Syndrome

07/22/2007: David writes: "First of all Ted, let me say what a blessing you are to so many people different people with so many desperate needs. May God richly bless you as you have given to so many others may you receive back many fold. I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome as about 12 years ago. About 5 years ago my family and I moved to St. Petersburg from Rochester, NY in hopes of improving my auto-immune condition. It has improved to some degree, I'm guessing because of Vitamin D exposure to the sun. I've always had cold hands and feet, especially the feet. Anytime the temperature drops below 70 they get really cold (internally, not externally). I think I may have Raynaud's Syndrome as well. My feeling of fatigue and lack of energy has gotten quite a bit better due to a product I'm on called Ambrotose (glyconutrients). Recently I've developed what I thought were kidney stones, put as far as I know have yet to pass one. It seems if I do not drink an adequate amount of water I develop sharp pains on the right side of my lower back when urinating. Now I'm not certain if the pain in my back was from actually stones or a more serious kidney disorder. In addition when working outside for a long period of times and sweating, my back gets really itchy and breaks out in little raised sores which are not painful. I'm able to workout and run short distances (200 meters), but anything more than that my legs feel like lead weights. I'm currently taking the Ambrotose (670 mg once a day), a multivitamin, Ester C (2000 mg daily), EDTA for oral chelation (625 mg twice daily), Quercentin for prostate issues ( 500 mg twice a day) and maximum prostate (2 capsules daily) who's main ingredient is beta-sitoseterol (300 mg twice daily) and have just recently added ionic magnesium (300ppm - 1 tsp. a day.) Any advice or recommendations you can give me would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and your unselfish willingness to give back to others."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear David: Most auto immunity including the Sjogren's Syndrome can be handled if a more direct approach is taken (since you are taking exercise which tends to consume more bicarbonates and citrates) such as a simple 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. A more effective remedy in reducing that is the 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid (or one whole lime about 8 teaspoon freshly squeezed plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda taken twice a day in 1/2 glass of water). Vitamin D3 of at least 5,000-10,000 i.u. and magnesium citrate 250 mg for 5 days out a week (has more magnesium than the ionic one) is quite helpful. I have seen auto immunity to reduce in many cases whenever it's summer and more sun. Initially I suspect that certain auto immunity is caused by a yet unidentified mycobacterium or mycoplasma which manifests itself similar to a fungus since antifungal remedy such as borax has good response if taken only briefly such as a month's period or two. The dose for men if I happened to be taking it to kill the mycoplasma (it seems they need large than a woman) is about 1/4 teaspoon of borax mixed in one liter of drinking water taken throughout the day, but in this case, perhaps once a week is enough due to being a bit more sensitive. The serum calcium should be reduced and most alkalizing remedy is done about 5 days out of a week. The back pain might be the lack of magnesium as ionic magnesium is insufficient in amount, so magnesium citrate (or magnesium gluconate, magnesium orotate, magnesium malate, magnesium chloride) 250 mg should generally be sufficient often 5 days out of a week and I think the body should have sufficient levels after a month.
While the glyconutrients is an important one, taken them forever, can be an expensive way (at least for me), however most of the glyconutrients can be found eating kelp and aloe vera. Most of the improvement I think is due to the chelation, where heavy metals are the prime cause and as a result, chlorella or chlorella/spirulina where I might take 4 or 5 days out a week should help.
The general weakness often indicates the fungus, or virus, which strips the body of energy and at least for me were helped mostly by taking some clove oil mixed or diluted in water, such as a drop well stirred in a glass of water. If in case some people find it hot than maybe just buy some clove spices and cinnamon spices and mixed them in food, or sprinkle them in a drinking water. The energy pick up should be relatively quick within about 30 minutes. This weaknesses can also be done that have seen to work is 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in one glass of water plus 3- 6 drops of 3% H2O2. Of course, if the baking soda were already taken during the morning hours, then just adding the 3-6 drops of 3% H2O2 were helpful for me. The effect lasts anywhere from 50 minutes to 2 hours and of course maybe the H2O2 is taken every hour until the microbes were destroyed. All the remedy I mentioned here is just the bare minimum necessary to reduce those microbes present.
In some cases impaired immune function such as auto immunity is due to the body's immune system are weak or overtaken by the mycobacterium which causes the body to attack itself, which really I think is due to the mycobacterium attaches to the cells. The iodine, supplements such as 5-10 mg of potassium iodide a day usually unglues them and prevent attachment. Of course a safer form is simply to do iodine foot painting once or twice a week or I would probably used them as a mouthwash about 4 drops of lugol's' solution or preferably colorless iodine once every morning.
I have also noticed the increased in energy level, besides the clove oil and magnesium, and alkalizing is the vitamin B complex which when I feel week would take about twice or three times a week until the weakness goes away.
Whichever the remedy I would use, I would generally take borax (small amount) initially for a month or two once a week as mentioned, then the baking soda at of 1/2 teaspoon for most of the week always. And generally if those are done, usually I have seen people to be able to live a normal life. Of course other supplements should also be considered too, such as zinc gluconate 50 mg taken for twice a week for a month's period to a maximum of two months so that the body's immunity should be raised so that it doesn't result in auto immunity Selenium helps, but i prefer the selenium yeasts (yeast are dead in supplement form so they are safe) 200 mcg, for a month's period is also helpful too. Raynaud's syndrome is mostly helped with vitamin B complex, by the way."

[YEA] 09/26/2008: Angela from Broomfield, CO writes: "A couple times a year I have a painful swelling of one of the parotid glands (main salivary gland) on either side of my face due to Sjogren`s syndrome. I have had this many times before and have never been able to stop the pain and swelling which usually lasts for 2 weeks...until now. I tried the castor oil heat pack the first night, leaving it on over night and woke up with no pain! The gland is still sore to the touch, but I have never experience such relief without the use of corticosteroids. I will continue to use this method from now on. I am a believer!"

I started taking these as a possible cure for neck pain which i have suffered from for years. I developed Sjogrens syndrome 2 years ago as a result of a nasty virus I had. I have had the dry mouth which has affected the linings of my mouth and caused bad breath. In the last year I also had dry gritty eyes, and dry vagina. After two weeks on the collagen/keratin
capsules I now have saliva in my mouth! My eyes and vagina are improving with moisture too. And yes my Neck pain has practically dissappeared. Hope someone else might find this cure works for them too!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 04/20/2009: Suza from Sydney, NSW, Australia writes: "I have Sjogrens syndrome, a mild version, but what has really helped me is taking a lot of ___ EPA & vitamin E fishoil as well as Nodic Cod liver oil, I can feel the difference when I dont take it, as my symptoms worsen.
I also feel that getting a neck massage helps my symptoms, I have a feeling that the neck seems to be linked to the sjogrens somehow , I have always had a sore neck too, but have been doing stretches that help. anyway give the ____ fish oil pills a go- I take 12 a day + 3 nordic cod liver oil pills
have been doing that for years and it seems to keep it under control."
