The most common worm infection in the United States, the condition is caused by small, white intestinal worms called Enterobius vermicularis. Diatomaceous Earth

[YEA] 03/27/2012: Kim from Dustin, Nebraska: "My family is struggling with this and so I thought I'd share what's worked and what hasn't. We did take an over the counter wormer to start off with but then didn't finish it appropriately because we didn't have quite enough for one of our family members to have their full second dose (It was dosed by weight). They returned but with slightly different symptoms so we chalked it up to a lot of fiber in our diet causing a scratching sensation in the bowels. Then another one was seen and the connection was made... So, because the chemical wormers were "chemical" and not good for us, and also expensive. AND also because we did some research and found out that pinworms are very common and almost impossible to completely avoid (especially living close to animals and the outdoors), we decided to find an approach that was ultimately more proactive than reactive.
Hence, Diatomaceous Earth. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that regular ingestion of Food Grade diatomaceous earth (make sure it's food grade!! ) will rid the body of parasites of all kinds. It should be, however, a life long regimen. After you get rid of the parasites, continue taking the DE daily. DE is full of minerals that our bodies need and don't get anymore because our food is so "clean"... People used to work much closer to the earth as a whole, then most of us do now. Therefore we don't inhale/ingest the dirt and thus minerals that we used to, but also because our food is from the supermarket and not the garden (for many of us) it has been "super-cleaned" and the minerals have been removed. Some other benefits of DE are healthier skin, teeth, bones, and hair (some people with baldness or thinning hair have reported complete hair regrowth) It also cleanses our bodies of built up heavy metals and toxins. Wolf Creek Ranch (google it ;) has a lot of really good info on how DE can help fight off parasites. It should take about a week to two weeks to stop feeling the worms after beginning to take DE. But don't stop there.
Remember the eggs are very hard to control/kill. Reinfection is very very very common. If you choose not to take it as a daily regimen indefinitely, at least take it for 90 days. Paying very good attention to not cause reinfection. Some ideas to help are to: carefully, each morning run all bedding through the dryer as hot as you can get it, and change everyone's underwear. Bathing every other day might be helpful as well. Get a nail brush and clean under those fingernails well (help the little ones) when washing hands each time. Adding a lot of garlic (raw) and coconut oil to your diet and also a daily dose (1 tsp to 1 tbsp as tolerated per person) of Apple Cider Vinegar helps to make the body less hospitable to the parasites. Of the DE, We take 1 tbsp daily for adults and 1 tsp daily for the children, just stirred up in water (it's important to try not to inhale DE, as it can damage your lungs) but it's completely safe for consumption. It's slightly gritty, and tastes a little like fresh-turned dirt smells. The kids really like it mixed with a small amount of applesauce. Also making some garlic oil for applying to the rectum helps disrupt their lifestyle. Cut up several garlic cloves and put in a small amount of coconut oil in a warm place (I used a half pint jelly jar). The longer it sits, the more potent it will be. Use a q-tip to apply to anus first thing in the morning (if you don't choose to bathe right away) and also before bed. This will kill eggs that are present, and also repel the adults from laying more eggs. (they don't like garlic one bit! ) I didn't take it seriously at first, getting lax everytime I stopped feeling things "move', but I'm finally buckling down to focus on making sure we are doing the above things. These things helped the first time and we were free for a while, but then got reinfected, maybe from not taking care of laundry and linens, maybe just by having very small children, or maybe from our outdoor animals and livestock... Hard to say. I'm praying to God, that we can avoid that this time! I'll try to keep you all posted and I hope this helps!"
Replies08/08/2012: Kim from Dustin, Nebraska replies: "After taking Diatomaceous earth for over a year I can testify that it does indeed work. Within 7 days all symptoms of the worms (or at least the symptoms I recognized) were gone... However. Reinfection from our home and each other seems to be a constant problem... There are so many benefits to the Diatomaceous earth that we'll probably always take it, but the monthly cycle of worms for a week is tiring.Currently I'm pregnant and so I'm not pursuing this more aggressively. Also eating 2 cloves of garlic raw every day for about 4 days gets rid of them, maybe I'll try that at the first sign of a reinfection. In the future I'm going to try making green walnut tincture (green walnuts in vodka) and giving it to our family for a while to see if we can kill the worms in our bodies along with any new infestations before they can get started. Another method that I see is mentioned on here is the idea of putting something on the anal oriface to dissuade them from laying eggs... This is a great idea, just a little hard to implement in a large family. I wonder if there is a way to make the worms sterile... Without making us sterile. Maybe the key is to staying on something that kills them chemically (like one or a combination of food and the herbs) and not just mechanically (like the DE) for at least a couple of months to kill off new infections before they can reproduce. ::sigh:: wish the kids were older. Prayers and blessings to all who are struggling with this."
08/08/2012: Readerofec from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "There are a few other things you can try to make them sterile.Quassia Amara and Neem leaf or oil. Both are effective. However, what you need also, is to kill the parasite eggs. The Black walnut tincture will kill the adults. Careful when you make the tincture as when made fresh, its very strong!
Fresh ground, high quality cloves will do the trick or 16 drops of clove oil in 8 oz of water 2 or 3 times daily. Careful as the oil can burn. Grinding the cloves may be safer and easier.
Do a web search on the herbs I mentioned to see what is right for you and easy for the whole family. I don't absolutely do not recommend Quassia Amara and Neem leaf teas as they are extremely bitter herbs.
If you have not tried already, take some of the DE (Diatomatious Earth) and dust in your bedding and undergarments so its not visible unless closely viewed. Also, mix 30% DE with 70% grape seed oil and rub on freshly cleaned bottoms.
Each night they become active and when there is DE present they are damaged and dehydrated and unable to reproduce during their peak hours.
There are other herbs that can be used as an enema to kill the them in the gut such as Stemona. Do a web search on it as I have only read about this herb when researching for another topic."
08/09/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Kim, Dr Balch recommends including generous amounts of Pineapple, Figs, and Garlic in the diet. Grapefruitseed extract is also good. Zapping in combination w/ herbs will get one nearer complete resolution than either alone (imho). OTC Pyrantel Pamoate may be necessary in acute cases. If you have pets, it is completely essential to deworm them regularly. My kitties require regular treatment of both Piperazine and Praziquantel (i have begun using an herbal complex occasionally between the pharm treatments).
I will soon begin Diatomaceus Earth. How best is this taken and in what quantities as per your results???"
09/13/2012: Jayne from London, Uk replies: "Does ingesting DE work for worms that travel under your skin? I'm getting constant crawling and it's driving me crazy. I don't get how drinking DE would get any worms apart from those in your stomach. If it does work for worms under your skin/tissues, how long do you think it would take? Thanks."
09/13/2012: Anon from Your Town, Usa replies: "Hi Jayne. I hope I can help you. Somewhere here on Earthclinic I have posted about this before. I cut grass some years ago and got a rash on my forearms. This rash was itchy, stingy and crawling feeling... I tried sevreal things and the only thing that really made a difference for me was hairever scalp treatment. You can get this from puritian pride. It has lots of different oils in it and is meant to unclog hair follicals. One day, for whatever reason I just rubbed this on my forearms while I was putting some in my hair. What came out of my forearms was lots of black specks. At first my wife insisted it was lint from our towels. I beleived different. I started doing this without touching myself with anything. Sometimes I would do it fresh out of the shower and would not use a towel to dry. Guess what! More black specks. I rubbed the oil on me for sevreal weeks until the black specks came out no more. My arms cleared up from the bumbs and also I had a dull film on my arms that went away. I am pretty much about 99% free of the little buggers now. Hope this will help you."
09/20/2012: Jayne from London, UK replies: "Well, I wonder what the black specks were? Were they worms? I live in the UK and I'm not sure I can get the product you're talking about, but thanks for the suggestion.I still want to know about diamotaceous earth though, as I have lots of that. Does it kill worms that are elsewhere in your body - ie. not in your gut?
I'm actually wondering... DOES DE WORK AT ALL???
I'm confused about its ability to kill anything at all. You see I was taking 1 teaspoon of it daily in water for 2 weeks. And then I found a live pinworm in my stool. So does it work at all? I'm not sure whether I should carry on taking it or not.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I had really high hopes for it, but now am a bit disillusioned."
10/03/2012: Citygirl27 from Richardson, Tx, Usa replies: "Sounds like you may have morgellons or another parasite. Try topical coconut oil on the areas that are bothering you, for at least a few weeks. Coconut oil really makes them come, out so watch for black flecks on your skin 20-30 minutes later. If in doubt, shower after the 30 minutes is up."
Hulda Clark's Formula

[YEA] 02/24/2008: Gabriela from Pahoa, Hawaii: "I believe, that many people might not be aware that they are suffering from parasites. I had terrible gas for about 1 year and treated myself with all kinds of stuff. It took me long, it was very expensive. It finally took one worm to be actually seen for me to become aware. It seems people with the urge to constantly eat ( I had that and thought it psychological - but it seems the parasites are doing this to you) and with digestion problems should start the parasite program. There is nothing loose and everything to win.
I have copied the link of a book. I don't have time right now to copy the remedy. It is from Hulda Clark's book: "The cure of all diseases". People can look up this book on the net here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/1013352/The-cure-for-all-diseases
And there they have to go to the chapter: "Herbal parasite killing program"
It consists of 3 medicines: Wormood, Black Walnut Hull tincture and cloves powder (made fresh from whole cloves in your coffee grinder, this is crucial as this is killing the eggs). Don't buy powder. It's never fresh enough. You need to put the powder in capsules.
You can put this on your site. I feel really comfortable now with it. I can say, it works, as since I am taking this, I am symptom free, as well as my husband. I can sleep again, our appetite is strongly reduced. We have our life back. With these parasites, you get so exhausted just trying to disinfect your whole house and have to wash everything constantly (ridiculous and impossible anyway!).
She also advises to keep a maintenance program in killing parasites as they are bound to reinfect you. (I can agree to that, all my drugs didn't work at all.)
So, as I said, I hope this helps and you might increase awareness about parasites this way. You could put this post under "pinworms" and "parasites".
The items can be bought online at the DrClarkstore. This is crucial as the black Walnut Hull tincture must be from fresh green hulls and the liquid therefore should be green. If it is from old hulls and black, then it doesn't have the strength to fight the parasites."
Replies01/01/2009: Gabrielle from Gold Coast, Australia replies: "I looked up this site and it says that the book Dr.Hulda Clark's formula for pinworms has been removed. Although there are a lot of other advertisements for non related items there."
07/25/2009: Andrea from Gold Coast, Qld. Australia replies: "Gabrielle, you can purpchase Dr. Hulda Clarks book from Amazon (I hope it's o.k. to mention them here) I bought both of her books for a very reasonable price and they were delivered quickly. Also you can buy the exact preparation of the parasite remedy at Go Vita health stores on the Gold Coast. If you need further information contact me at my email address. Andrea."
05/14/2010: James from Panama City, Panama replies: ""The cure for all diseases" has been removed from the website that you provided the link to. Is there another website where it can be found?"
05/14/2010: Joanofarc83 from Morton, Illinois Usa replies: "Yes, google 'Hulda Clark' and Hulda Clark parasite cleanse will appear is the list. I have used her procedure and found it helpful but still had parasites. Ted's borax formula is also effective. I have used it for about a year now. I have also added acidophillis recently for maintenance and general health
Good luck!"

[YEA] 04/22/2013: Elementary Teacher from Oakland, California: "HOW I GOT RID OF PINWORMS
I suspected I had pinworms but when I found a dead one on the bathroom floor I knew for sure. I was dumb and didn't save the worm for the doctor, but I did capture some eggs with tape and took the tape to the doctor. He looked at it under the microscope and confirmed it was a pinworm, so then I got a prescription for Mebendazole, 100 mg, one dose and another dose two weeks later. I ended up doing TWO rounds of mebendazole, which means 4 pills in all. One pill every two weeks, for a total of eight weeks. I also treated my husband. During the first three weeks I continued to feel active symptoms and my anxiety went through the roof.
I dramatically changed my diet and underwent a parasite cleanse as well, and I made herbal suppositories and used them constantly. I cleaned obsessively, always wearing gloves and face masks to clean and use the bathroom. I only ever sat on the porcelain rim of the toilet to reduce contamination. I wiped my butt with moist wipes then used rubbing alcohol wipes to kill the eggs that might be there. Always wore gloves! Anytime I felt a worm and an itch I went to the bathroom and used alcohol wipes. I washed towels and bedding daily with hot water and hot dryer. Took a lot of hot showers. I slept in underwear, pants, and wrapped a sheet around my body like a cocoon. It sucked, but worked.
I threw away most of my underwear after wearing it once, I went through more than 1000 latex gloves, I only used paper towels to dry my bottom, and I cleaned every surface of my house and vacuumed wearing a mask every few days. I threw the masks away after use. I also bought a nail brush and scrubbed under my nails with hot water. Nails are very short from now on!
I also was diagnosed with hemorrhoids which my doctor explained contributed to the crawling and itching feeling. I started to realize that the pinworms were probably gone but the irritation I was feeling was the hemorrhoids. I got some medicine for the hemorrhoids and started using only fragrance-free soap and detergent.
DIET
My diet consisted of raw garlic (8 cloves a day, smashed up), coconut oil, raw pumpkin seeds (several handfuls a day), papaya seeds (until I was gagging), pineapple, plain yogurt, raw carrots, kale/chard/greens, lentils, beans, tons of water, and any type of vegetables with a lot of fiber. That is all I ate for three weeks. I had absolutely no dairy, white flour, alcohol, sugar, or caffeine. I lost a lot of weight.
HERBAL CLEANSE
My parasite cleanse was based on Hulda Clark's recipe, and I ordered two bottles of the Super W Blend from the Dr. Clark store, and two bottles of the Extra Strength Green Black Walnut Hull Tincture, 4 oz.
I kept the tincture in the fridge. I also got three jars of whole cloves and ground them in my coffee grinder everyday and filled 00 gel capsules with the cloves. My cleanse regiment included:
6 am: 3 capsules cloves, wormwood capsules (I started with 2 per day and worked up to 7 per day), and 1/2 teaspoon walnut hull tincture in cold water. Several times the walnut tincture made me throw up, but I just reduced the amount until I knew what I could handle.
7 am: Breakfast (pumpkin seeds, raw garlic, yogurt, carrots, coconut oil)
1 hour before lunch: 3 capsules cloves, more walnut hull tincture in cold water.
1 hour before dinner: 3 more capsules cloves, more walnut hull tincture.
The first week of the cleanse you wouldn't believe what I was finding in the toilet. I think my whole body got cleaned out. I am only 29 years old with a great diet but some strange stuff was passing out.
SUPPOSITORIES
I made suppositories with coconut oil, wormwood powder, black walnut tincture, and clove powder, and I popped them up my butt (with a glove on) two or three times a day for two weeks. I stayed home the whole time because they would start to leak and it was messy, but I really felt like they worked well. I used this youtube video to make them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSFh65L7b8A
So, after the third mebendazole pill I started to relax and the wormy feeling was gone. I was just left with occasional minor itching and some sensations from the hemorrhoids, which is going away day by day. I was an absolute freak with my diet, the cleaning, the herbal cleanse, and the suppositories. I did not slip up, in fact I was militant about the whole regiment. I cried every day throughout the ordeal and found that meditation helped a lot with the anxiety. Do not get discouraged by the internet postings that say you can never get rid of them. You can. You can't let the worms get an advantage over you. Devote a month to being a crazy person and you will beat them!"

[YEA] 07/28/2009: Lorica from Louisville, Ky.: "Years ago I had some pinworms and read up about them. They have to come out of the anal orifice to lay their eggs, at night. So I decided to whammy their plans. I kept the orifice slathered in Noxzema, as much as wouldn't go thru my underpants. It seemed to me they would not be able to breed, or even live in that environment. I kept this up for about 2 weeks as it is easy to get reinfected from eggs in the environment. They have not come back and it has been years."

[YEA] 03/29/2008: Dee from Brooks, Alberta Canada: "the best cure for pin worms is tobacco. swallow a cigarette size chunk of tobacco, put it in a food item if you have to, but it will cure it lickity split"
Replies[YEA] 08/15/2009: Leeola23 from Owosso, Michigan, USA replies: "I got pin worms when I was in third grade and tobacco was the only thing that helped. It really is a great cure."
[YEA] 10/25/2010: Lisa from Shreveport, La replies: "I've suffered with pinworms for almost 20 years. I'd take prescription medication and hoped I would get rid of them only to have them back 2-3 months later. No matter how much I cleaned my house or myself, no matter what I ate or drank, or what cures I tried, I couldn't seem to get rid of this infestation. It wasn't until my child caught them that I started getting desperate. One night, I just took a cigarette apart, wadded up the tobacco and swallowed it with a big glass of water. Within a week, I stopped having those all-too familiar symptoms. It has now been 4 months, and still no sign of those little buggers. It used to ruin my sleep, played havoc with my health (I have a swollen thyroid that I believe was caused by my body's reaction to pinworm excreta), and made me gain alot of weight since I always craved carbs and sweets. Since I tried this tobacco treatment, I'm sleeping better, have lost 10 pounds since I'm no longer craving unhealthy stuff and with a doctor treating the inflamation, my thyroid is FINALLY, starting to shrink. I'm not waiting next time I see or feel pinworms, I'll chew through a whole pack of cigarettes before I let these parasites take over my life again."
11/10/2010: Tony from Murrieta, Ca, Usa replies: "Not sure if I do have these little buggers but since 80% of us are infected and most of the times you can't diagnose them, Here is my experience: I had dinner at 8p, around 10p I swallowed the tobacco of a cigarette with 24 oz of water; 10 minutes later, I got really dizzy/nausea and a bad migraine, I fell a sleep around 1030p, woke up to pee around 1a "dizzy", 3a a little dizzy, woke up around 7a no more dizziness, morning and afternoon I had a normal bowel movement. I will try this again in about a week. My question: As I keep reading to try to gain and increase my knowledge about this subject, worms and parasites tend to roam/travel all over our body, my concern is: Can and how does your system eliminate them when found outside your digestive track/organs and muscles etc..."
11/14/2010: Tony from Murrieta, Ca, Usa replies: "This is a follow up: 4 days later, I was reading in bed, something hit me and this started: 11p-4a I'm on high alert, not sleepy and my whole body goes crazy, I'm itching/twitching and being pinched all over and I feel these critters are moving all over my body, I mean in my head, I felt that they are coming out of my ears, muscle twitch all over, few piches in the area of my liver, bad migraine, I felt my whole body is edgy and shaky but not to the sense that you can see me shaking. In the morning I was tired, I took Castor Oil "caused me to the runs" because I was disgusted and I wanted them to get out of my system ASAP. It is scary and reliefing at the same time. Hope this helps, I'll keep you posted with my progress."
11/13/2011: Tammy from Denver, Colorado, Usa replies: "Tony, what happened with your treatment of the pinworms?"
12/29/2011: Greta from Kamloops, Bc Canada replies: "Tony, what has happened since?"
04/27/2012: Suzanne from Abbotsford, Bc replies: "I'm guessing the tobacco destroyed the pinworms, but hopefully it didn't destroy HIM! It's pretty toxic, but some people tolerate it better than others. I've had success with FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth, but I guess I haven't been taking enough or at the right time, because they came back. Apparently 1 heaping tablespoon per day, well before or after a meal, or 1 tsp. 3 x per day is the better way to go. Make sure to take it in some fluid, though, because when I mixed it in with pancake batter, I got a stomach ache every time!"
11/01/2012: Lisa from San Diego, Ca replies: "Um... Has anyone read the ingredients in a pack of conventional cigarettes? Oh, what? They are listed? Wonder why??? You guys are funny. You don't want to take conventional medicine (I don't either) but you will readily EAT a cigarette that is Chock Full of chemicals. Not to mention the poisonous nicotine...."
01/06/2013: Terry from Maui, Hawaii replies: "Thanks for info about Tobacco. Just so you know, tobacco, pure 100% organic tobacco is not bad. Tobacco has been used by native people for thousands of years without trouble. It wasn't until greedy tobacco companies started putting addictive chemicals in it did people start dying of lung cancer, heart disease. I have been smoking pure 100% organic tobacco for years without any side effects. Without the chemicals, you don't really ever get addicted. I have gone days without smoking without even thinking about it. I smoke when I want and it does not control me. So, I think the reason people got sick from tobacco in trying to cure pin worms is the added chemicals not the nicotine. You can buy 100% pure organic tobacco in a pouch. Of course you will have to roll your own."
03/02/2013: Ken from Chico, California replies: "Hi, I'm having some issues with what I believe is pinworms.. All the symptoms match, I'm feeling itchy in random places, I have muscle twitches very often everywhere, and Im itchy in the rectum area, and I can feel the worm moving around when I'm relaxing. I feel them traveling up my arms and now I'm feeling them right in my fourhead, it's a tickling feeling under the skin. This is freaking me out n I don't know what to do about it nothing the doctor gives me is working. I would like to rid of the pinworms but most importantly I don't want them in my brain so I need to figure this out immediatly, I'm tempted to try this cigarette thing people talked about on here but I need more info if someone can help me please. My stomach is a mess every day because of this, I believe I've had them for almost a year now if that helps any."
03/02/2013: Candy from Fort Madison, Iowa replies: "Get some diatamaceous earth and take a tablespoon in a glass of water or juice. It kills all parasites, worms etc, great stuff. Just make sure it's food grade."
03/23/2013: Liisteri from Chicago, Il replies: "Correct me if I'm wrong, but pinworms don't go into your brain or in random places, they lay eggs around your anus and go back to where they belong. It's not very common in adults, because they should just go away, if you wash your hands properly. Kids on the other hand, will scratch their bottoms at night and then touch toys and eat with those fingers. The only way pinworms can survive long periods in your body is for the eggs to find their way back to your mouth. My kids had them, and now someone at their school is infected many months later... So I'm looking for alternative treatments, in case we get them again. The first time around we took pinX, even us adults without symptoms. They came back in a month, so next time I took all their toys to the basement for at least the 3 weeks that the eggs can survive on surfaces. I put bedding that cannot be washed into the freezer during the day. (pinworms are non existent in my home country where people take their bedding to the freezing cold outdoors weekly, and the eggs also hate sunshine)... I took carpeting to the basement. The few toys I allowed them went to the freezer at night. It was crazy! But we rid them. I'm just saying, if you wash your hands after night time itching, you should not be reinfecting yourseves like that. and the under the skin itching, its some other thing...Just killing the worms will not work, yu have to get rid off the eggs, and make your body hostile to the eggs, eat carrots and avocado. the worms love sugar and bread..."
05/12/2013: Hammonddog from Ventura, Ca replies: "Pin worms can go into your liver, uterus, and pancreas, etc. Ask your doctor and do some internet research, but they are definitely not confined to your intestines."
