"Granuloma annulare is a chronic skin disease consisting of a rash with reddish bumps arranged in a circle or ring. Granuloma annulare is different from warts, and cryotherapy treatment will not work. It most often affects children, young and older adults and it is slightly more common in females (60/40 ratio)."

TED'S REMEDIES

D. from Sheridan, IN : "

Ted, your hard work and studies have helped many people. My blessings go to you. We have a 4yr old boy and a year ago the top side of his joints broke out in what looks like localized granuloma annulare. It itched really bad and swelled and then the bumps just stayed. The main area is the tops of his fingers, then his knees and elbows. We've seen several doctors and specialist and they say stress and or a virus and suggest steroid creams....yuck!! How can I get him to drink ACV???? What would be good additives to make it easier for him to swallow without taking away from the main purpose. He has been drinking your recommendation of baking soda with lemon and splenda for over two weeks and he looks and acts healthier. Dry lips are gone and his skin looks healthier all over. His ph must have really been all out of whack. Any suggestions is much appreciated....I love Earth Clinic and will spread the good word to anyone who will listen about its helpfullness and your great expertise.

05/21/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The two common ways I reduce the redness and especially the itchiness, is tannic acid or magnesium hydroxide. Tannic acid is 1/2 teaspoon with 1/4 glass of water with several drops of DMSO, say 10-20 drops to help penetration. It is applied topically several times throughout the day. The other formula works too, in case you have difficulty finding the first one, milk of magnesia, which is 5% magnesium hydroxide in water. It is applied to the area. Both method you don't wash it, until may be 30 minutes or something like that. As for the cause, I think it caused by nanobacteria, where it is treated with tetramycin hydrochoride 500 mg before sleep and EDTA 250 mg three times a day. That's for adult dose, so you calculate based on weight based on 150 pounds. I am still investigating this one right now. If it's virus as the doctor says, then it should work by taking lysine, 1000 mg x 4 for adult dose for three or four weeks.

05/08/2012: Ash from Lacey, Wa replies: "RE: Granuloma Annulare. I have had amazing results with green tea. My condition has cleared almost completely. I eat the tea, it's organic (you cannot eat regular tea) and one teaspoon is equal to about 30 cups of green tea. I have no affiliation with them in any way. The Granuloma Annulare was cleared up after two weeks of daily intake. It's amazing. Even my adult children noticed and I hadn't said a word."

[YEA]  03/30/2011: Nizac from Mid Hudson Valley, Ny: "My wife developed severe Granuloma Annulare (GA) about 2 years ago on her arms, hands and chest. After visiting a dermatoligist she was prescribed prednesone which put it in remission. However when the Prednesone was stopped it started reapearing. This happened twice both times it reapeared. I read on a forum a dermatoligist had a patient who told her that ACV put his 35 year case of GA in remission 1 oz in the morning 1 oz at night. I know that's a lot of ACV but it worked. My wifes GA is vastly improved her arms and hands, chest are almost totally clean. It's been about a month since she started taking it but saw results in about 1 week. Good Luck"

[YEA]  06/30/2011: Kristie from Chattanooga, Tn replies: "My husband has GA and started the ACV 3 weeks ago after I told him about your post. Most of his rashes have faded to very light pink, and he has hopes of them completely disappearing in a short amount of time. He has had it a couple years, but had no interest in taking steroids to try to get rid of it. This seems to be working for him. Thanks for sharing!"
10/28/2011: Therealtabby from Summerberry, Sk, Canada replies: "Regarding ACV for Granuloma Annulare - should it be taken with food? On an empty stomach? Applies topically as well? I have a LONG-standing case of GA (20 years now) and am about will to try anything to get rid of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

10/28/2011: Elyn From Milwaukee from Oklahoma City, Ok/usa replies: "I have had granuloma annulare for 9 years now. It began as a small patch on my left hand-- an ugly red rash, neither itchy nor painful. It has spread to the backs of both hands, up to my middle knuckles. The doc diagnosed it and said that it often is a precursor for diabetes, and that we'd keep an eye on it. Well, my favorite coworker in OKC introduced me to EarthClinic and I read about ACV. I drank it for a few months this past winter -- 1 Tbsp ORGANIC ACV with 1Tbsp honey, in warm water, morning and night. In spring, my coworker and my boss noticed that my GA had mostly disappeared! I hadn't even noticed! Oh, it's still there, but VERY much faded. I had to stop drinking the ACV because my teeth were beginning to hurt-- now I'm back on it but using a TINY pinch of baking soda in with the vinegar, let it fizz, then add warm water and the honey. I DEFINITELY recommend it. I don't know how long you will have to take it-- don't know how widespread or severe your GA is. Best of luck to you!!!"
10/28/2011: Elyn From Milwaukee from Oklahoma City, Ok/usa replies: "Tabby-- You can take it either with food or on an empty stomach. Topically is fine-- won't hurt a thing. BTW, my coworker told me that you can buy a gallon jug of plain old ACV (from a grocery store) and put 1/4 cup or so of ORGANIC ACV (from the health food store) in it and let it sit a few weeks till the sediment (it's known as "the mother") begins to grow in the cheap vinegar and that way you can make your own for way less $$$."
12/13/2011: Tabby from Summerberry, Sk replies: "MANY thanks!! I've been doing quite a bit of reading on alkalinity and so forth, and will try the ACV/honey/baking soda. Will post back when I have something to report! Thanks again."
02/08/2012: Norman from North Windham, Ct. replies: "Hey guys: I have had granuloma annalure for about 4 years. Started with just one spot and now all over. 2 diff. Dermatologists, creams, shots, pills. Tried it all. No results. Tried the apple cider vineger. Nothing. Many articles I've read talked about stress as a possible cause. Dr. Oz on tv one day said that one of his top 10 things in the whole world that he takes and believes in is rhodiola rosea (root) for stress relief. I found some on line it's a blue box and called arctic root shr-5. Its only $10. (40 capsules). 1 capsule daily then 2 a day. I started seeing some change after about 1 month. On it now for about 3 months and a big change. Alot is hardly noticable and the rest is much lighter and smoother. I thinks this stuff is working. I also noticed after about 1 month less stress on my job. I will continue to take it and I believe it will get rid of ga all together. Try it folks. I'm excited that after all the time, dr's., co pays, creams, pills, injections and embarassment (oh yeh and $)I can see myself wearing short sleeves this summer. Try it folks. It inexpensive and all natural. Norm."
[YEA]  04/09/2012: E from Arlington, Tx replies: "Our 5 year old daughter has GA and topically applying raw apple cider vinegar is the only thing that has worked to eliminate GAs. We did steroid shots the first two times GA popped up but that wasn't a long term solution! So thankful for ACV. I soak a cotton ball in ACV and use medical tape to fix it over the GA spot. We do that procedure for 3-4 nights and the GA is healed... Actually it looks like poison is drawn out and a scab forms. (A week later the scab is gone. ) Still, waaay better than steroids. We've checked into all known causes for GA over the past year (today we got back a clean bill of health from a CBC w/diff) and haven't uncovered anything."
05/10/2012: Jason from Stratford, Connecticut replies: "Hey congrats on helping with the GA's! I am currently on night 3 of the topical Apple Cider Vinegar regimen. I was wondering if your daughters GA has come back since her last ACV treatment? Also, how severe was her GA? Did she have a ring? Thank you for your response!!"
