[YEA]  11/08/2012: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa: "Hi Everyone, I know when I come on here, often there are women writing in who are having difficulty conceiving. I just received this great video from David Wolfe with both him and Ron Teeguarden, a master Chinese herbalist, speaking on how to help the body with conceiving. David is speaking on remedies outside of herbs. Ron speaks about getting pregnant using Chinese herbs. He not only talks about what will help women but, also what will help men with a higher sperm count. It has some very important information regarding this issue which so many women I think could use.

It's called Secrets for Increasing Fertility:

02/17/2012: Lisa from Asheville, Nc: "Currently I am wanting to get pregnant but have issues with my menstrual cycle never ending, at all. My doctor placed me on Birth Control to correct the issue but it has not worked at all. So, I just started going for acupuncture in the hopes that I can get a break from always having my period. The woman I go to for acupuncture suggested I start taking Vitex Chaste Berry to regulate my hormones in order to stop the bleeding and to get pregnant. After researching Vitex, every website is saying not to take it with Birth Control. I should also mention I am on thyroid medication.

My question is, if I start taking Vitex, do I stop the Birth Control? My doctor has not really been any help and at the moment, I can't afford to go back just to ask her these questions. If the Birth Control isn't working as far as making my period stop, then I don't see why I need to stay on it. I'm trying to get pregnant, not stop it from happening. Thanks in advance."

02/17/2012: Carly from Seattle, Wa - USA replies: "Hi Lisa, I don't know anything about chaste berry, but as for the birth control pills... I would chuck those in a heartbeat. Awful stuff. (mo)

Have you read here on Earth Clinic about ACV for menstrual issues? If I were you I would start taking a tablespoon of unsulphered blackstrap molassas every morning, along with Organic virgin coconut oil. (for thyroid support). I put both in my morning coffee.

I would also take ACV a couple of times a day. Look it up on here... I think it is under "menstrual problems" or some such thing. Also, if you are not taking a prenatal vitamin, I would start NOW. You want to be sure you are in fighting form before you become pregnant! I do know that the B vitamins are very improtant.

So to sum it all up - I would look up these things on the internet or Earthclinic as they relate to you:

1) Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

2) Unsulphered Blackstrap Molassas

3) Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

4) Vitamins to take before becoming pregnant

Good luck, and please keep us posted!

Carly :-)"

02/18/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Lisa, try simply taking the remainder of the prescription until it's gone and go from there. As for the Vitex, if it's not working I would try an herbal combination for menstrual issues. Two herbs that come to mind are Elethro Root and Dong Quai. Herbal combinations have a much broader spectrum effect on the body compared to single herb. Might be helpful to take some B-12 and Folic Acid to keep the blood counts up, as well as a very good whole food multivitamin/mineral to detox & heal the entire body.

Good luck please post results."

02/18/2012: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Lisa, Unfortunately some Drs put you on the pill for this and often its not the right one for your imbalance. Gynecologists &/or even endocrinologist are better. That said years ago my gyn & endo did help me but only whilst on treatment but once off teatment almost back to square one and as we know you can't get pregnant (very rare) whilst on the pill! Whereas with some herbal treatments you can actually fix the problem. I took yarrow tea with success (1 cup on rising & 1 cup mid afternoon but not whilst menstruating, as per Maria Treben) because yarrow was easy for me to get. Chasteberry was not available to me then. All that I have read about it sounds good and many have had success with it both in becoming regular and pregnant.

Personally I would not be taking the pill if it is not working. Plus you really should not try to conceive till you have been off the pill for four months minimum. Whilst they say it does not cause birth defects it can lower your folic acid and folic acid deficiency causes neural tube birth defects. I have read that on the 28th or 29th day of pregnancy it is vital and of course we don't usually know we are even pregnant then. Thus 4 months is a minimum for pre-conception nutrition. So in answer to your question I personally would take the herb and not take the pill to allow the herb to do its job.

As you have a thyroid problem please research iodine, many have posted here and only a couple of days ago Bill's info was great.

Pregnancy and pre-conception nutrition (in addition to what Carly has mentioned), sorry not many references as I'm reaching into my memory bank, these are not the only ones as I'm sure you know :

Selenium (and extra if you have amalgam fillings) - downs syndrome

Vit D - many! Http://vitamin-d-answers.info/three-important-vitamin-d-benefits-for-pregnancy

Vit B6 - Nausea (all Bs are important)

Vitamin E with the selenium - muscular dystrophy, Dr Joel Wallach

Folic Acid - Neural tube defects

Iodine - Brain development, Cretinism

Vit C small amount with meals to aid natural iron absorption. Plus don't drink tea (even green) with meals as it reduces iron absorption.

Love to know when you get pregnant. All the best."

02/21/2012: Gaylebsteve from West Columbia, Sc replies: "Rasberry Leaf Tea is very helpful in strengthing the uterus in order to get pregnant and support a fetus."
06/13/2012: Carol from Bridgetown, St James Barbados replies: "I had that same problem I bleed for three month straight the dr put me on pills but the pills did not help in no way so I stop taking them and deside to go for herbs my hevenley father give us herbs for healing thanks to the people that know what herb to take for what issue that we have some how I went on the net and find earth clinic. Every thing that I found for my issues I take. I start with cayan pepper and blackstrap molasses so I drank that ant stop eating meat and dairy products and my bleeding did stop.. But I went back and eat chicken and started do use dairy product again and it started back and try to keep away from stress try to be happy I know what I am telling you is true, when I am stress I does bleed for a long time. But thank God now I knew what to take. General Feedback

02/20/2009: Amber from Portland, Oregon: "Natural Birth Control/Fertility Methods:

Hi: I love your site and wanted to recommend the addition of a Natural Birth Control/Fertility area. Aside from just the birth control and increasing fertility subjects, there are lots of other side issues involved in this subject matter that could be covered here. (such as helping late periods, etc.) Balancing hormones when coming off of the pill, to alleviate side effects, could also be discussed (and I have some tips there!)

There is a growing interest among women to research these topics, and very little info available. I think your site would be a great resource in which to explore these kinds of methods. Perhaps an emphasized disclaimer could be added as well."

EC: Thank you for the suggestion, Amber. New fertility remedies page created!

QUESTION

09/20/2011: Rumo from Montpellier, France: "Dear Ted,

I'm a 52 year old woman and feel healthy and look in my 30's according most people. I am still menstruating. My new husband and I would like to have a baby and I am wondering if there is anything we can do to increase our chances.

I had an abortion decades ago for specific reasons and years later I had an ectopic pregnancy.

Finally, with my soulmate I would love to have a child. Any advice?"

Replies
09/21/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Rumo, I hope you thought this through! Maybe I shouldn't say a thing but I feel that I have to, please don't take this the wrong way. I am only slightly older than you are and to be honest, I wouldn't consider having a child at this age. True, I have three children but none of which have any contact with me. Like you I am now in a stable, loving relationship, maybe for the first time in my life and it is true that we could give a child a loving home. If the common sense wasn't there maybe we would think about it but we don't! Basically although I put three children in the world I didn't see them grow up (long story) and if I had met my husband 10 years ago I might have considered having one more. Like you I also look many years younger than my age.

One side of the story is your wish to have a baby but the other side is the child who, even if you now look very young, will have a mother or possibly parents as old or older than many children's grandparents. This may not seem like a problem to you now but I saw my youngest brother growing up with parents in their 40's, mortified every time people thought that they were is grandparents. Children mostly don't enjoy being different. And what seems a romantic dream right now might well result in a nightmare as you realise that after all a child requires a lot of energy and patience. Soon you will be going through the menopause and even if you blessed with a very comfortable one (which you don't know) it might be difficult to combine with the daily demands of a small child.

You know, I understand your wish better than you might think, romantic dreams of a beautiful baby cross my mind now and then but in the end I praise myself lucky because we now have all the freedom in the world. There are a lot of very old mothers around nowadays (older than you) but their stories do not always have a happy end. Sorry that I can't support you but please think about it, which I suppose you have but don't let your decision be clouded by romantic notions that may not exist! Also consider that at our age we have a lot more chance to have a handicapped child, could you cope with that? And although everybody can die young will you be there to see your child grow up? Will you cope on your own if your husband is not there anymore? Not nice thoughts but real thoughts nevertheless! In case you go on with your plans of course I wish you all the best!"

09/21/2011: Oscar from Syracuse, New York, Usa replies: "No advice, only that you are a rare woman to be still menstruating at your age. If you want that child, GO FOR IT. My very best wishes for you and your new husband and the new child. Please let the forum know how this all goes. We all wish you well I am sure....Oscar"
09/21/2011: Sasha from Chicago, Il replies: "I say go for it if you really want it. But you have to get checks done because good eggs will be less available and you have to watch for some genetic diseases that some can be screened for. I would take in consideration what Fran said but if you have lots of loving and caring family and relatives around you who can step in if needed then more power to you. In Westernized countries, people are getting to alternative lifestyles. Heck even gay marriage is getting legalized in places, so if other kids can accept some classmates have two same sexed parents then they can accept a classmate with an older mommy. But since you look in your 30s, people might not even question. Lets say you live an average life span of 78 to 80, as long as you take care of yourself and have fate on your side, your kid will be over 21 and able to fend for him or herself if given a good upbringing.

I can understand people's reservations but in this day and age, anything is possible, just be prepared for possible challenges. Ted was big on making sure you have enough vitamin C to be able to hold a baby. He is also big on alkalizing for infertility. Think it through and good luck. You can always consider adoptiong as an option too. A nice home is better than a poor or no home.

09/21/2011: Carly from Seattle, Wa - Usa replies: "Hi Rumo -

I knew a girl growing up who had older parents, and she had a great childhood. They were at her High School graduation and lived well after she had graduated college. I wish you well on your journey, wherever it takes you.

Re what Oscar said in a prior post...

I am 50, and am now curious as to how many other 50 (or near to, or over 50) year old women on here are still having regular periods.

Mine is like clockwork, and no signs of menopause.

I have had a tubal ligation, back in the early 1980's, so pregnancy is no longer an option for me. Not that I would be up for it at this point though. Lol. My oldest "baby" is 32 now. I had kids young. TOO young some might say. It all worked out well though. We each find our path.

Please keep us posted... Would love to hear how it all goes for you. Best wishes!

Carly "

09/21/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I think it is rare these days for a woman to be menstruating at 52 but I don't think it was rare in days past. I think it is our food supply and lack of nutrients that stops it.

I got my FSH down from 15 to 3.67 (and that is soo good as the lower the better) by drinking wheatgrass juice. It took 3 months and it was going down more each month. Also my libido returned at the same time so I think nutrients play a big part. I was taking both wheatgrass powder and fresh juice. The juice 1oz 2-3 times a week."

10/31/2011: Lara from Washington, Dc replies: "Ruma, if you are really keen, I would suggest trying the Fertilaid program on their website--it's a fantastic, results-yielding supplement with vitamins and minerals and some Chinese herbs 3 times a day, for both partners, plus work on building healthy eggs and sperm with a healthy plant-based diet, lots of green juice, orange juice, salads, etc. For at least 4 months--it takes that long to build healthy follicles--see Fern Reiss' book The Infertility Diet--it's detailed and very helpful. Eat walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, drink almond milk--there's lots of food advice in there. Also exercise daily and try yoga to massage your organs internally. Acupuncture could also help, and just work toward a low-stress lifestyle while you are trying. Good luck with everything!!!"

04/10/2011: Smallfry1973 from Mississauga, On, Canada: "We have been dealing with the fertility clinic for almost 1yr. My FSH had been normal until about 2 months ago. The last month it was high at 26. I have started accupuncture and my accupuncturist is hoping to try to get it down. We really want to try IUI this cycle but need to reduce the FSH. Any suggestions? I had endometriosis removed in Dec and I've been on Serophene but not this past cycle."

Replies
04/11/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Smallfry1973 - I was able to lower my FSH from 15 to 3.67. I did it in 3 months with each month it getting lower and lower. I was drinking fresh wheatgrass juice and taking wheatgrass tablets.

I would wait until it comes down before you do the IUI.

Another thing, when I lowered my FSH my sexual libido came back."

03/23/2010: Lynette from Jacksonville, North Carolina: "I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 6 months. Unfortunately I think that my husband is allergic to my bodily fluids because every time after we make love he itches like crazy. His reaction isn't sever like hives or swelling, but it does make him itch. So my main question is that if his body is allergic to me does that mean that my body kills his sperm? We've only been to the doctor for his itching, and I know that I'm fertile because I have 2 children from a prior engagement. If my body is killing his sperm what should I do? We desperately want a child and we don't know what to do that wouldn't involve medications and doctors. Please help, thank you!"

07/02/2010: Esh from Dallas, Texas replies: "Hi, when my husband and I got married, it seemed that I made him itch too. My husband also had excema that could only be abated slightly with many doses a day of cortisone cream. He has been healed since, though we do watch our ph and take ACV and baking soda a lot (especially after eating sugar.) Does he have certain food allergies? I knew I should have been pregnant from the start and I thought he was sterile however 2 years later we became pregnant. Now we have 4 happy children 5yrs and under...all surprises.

Check his ph of urine, read up on Ted's ACV remedies and start from there.

I am now 2 months late on my period, but the pregnancy tests come up negative. I was wondering if someone could please give me some advice or even some remedies on to try to get pregnant. My homeremedy might NOT be the one you want to hear right now, but I feel it's what every woman/man suffering from this fertility problem needs to realize. I'll just try to share my story in HOPES it helps. I'm finding out more than ever hope and faith is always the answers to all tribulations in this life. When I was 15 going on 16, I was told I was Sterile by a DR after a long emergency surgery from a near death situation that almost killed me. I now know clearly the DR felt the need to abuse me more mentally? I GOT married to a man at 17 I now know I shouldn't have, but was young & innocent suffering from a very abusive childhood I didn't understand. I couldn't get pregnant and worried constant about this and heard in my head what that surgeon had repeatedly said. Now to make a long story short. I believe in God and the power of Prayer which involves Always FAITH & HOPE:) My Faith has gotten me this far and by it I was able to get pregnant 4 times, 2 to theraputic abortions, and my last when still doctors said I couldn't get pregnant. My Hala*(which means unexpected gift) Noelani*(which means Beautiful on from heaven) is 11 yrs now. she is was what I call a TRUE miracle baby as I had her at 38 after another doctor said I had to sign a papers saying if I chose to live or she would live. Thank GOD I count on him and NOT man or anything else to cure me. A good diet, less stress of worrying about it, prayer/faith will get you that baby. Sometimes it's the unanswered prayers that seem to save us from terrible mistakes, and believe me I've made many. If NOT for Faith I would have given this beautiful gift up for adoption for a single mother (not by choice), or woman at my age, which is 51 makes it very hard to raise a child. I hope and Pray for you two Rosiebabez88 from Buffalo, Mn. That's what helps Hala & I everyday. GOD BLESS and know I prayed for your needs before I sent this. Take Care, Karen & Hala"
10/14/2009: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, USA replies: "Hi, I know I have suggested acupuncture in other posts for other problems but I would ask you to consider it for helping you get pregnant especially if you say both you and your husband are fertile. Chinese medicine takes a very different approach to the body and the way it works. I have seen it help in countless ways that the mainstream medical world just shrugs their shoulders at. I have seen my acupuncturist help women who could not get pregnant do just that. They also may give you herbs along with the acupuncture to help open energy meridians that may be stagnant. I would do some research in finding a good acupuncturist- ask around, go on acupuncture sites to help locate well-qualified acupuncturists. Also, try to meditate and not be stressed over this although I can only imagine that it is difficult emotionally. Meditation on love, the child you dream of, and if the two of you can do it together, all the more powerful. You are in my thoughts. I do hope this helps."

Plz take following remedies from any homeopathic store:-
1. Agnus Castus- Q (7-10) drops in half cup of water, three times a day
2. Sabal serrulata Q(7-10) drops in half cup of water, three times a day

Vitamin C

08/11/2011: Reshall Carter from Chicago, Il: "Hello, a few days ago I read the posting about miscarriage prevention and taking Vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbate. I have had 4 miscarriages in the past and we are trying to conceive this month. The health food stores in my area had nothing labeled Vitamin C Sodium Ascorbate. So, I purchased a product from TwinLab called Ascorbate C - Instant buffered Vitamin C concentrate. Nothing on the label says sodium ascorbate but it contains calcium ascorbate, rose hips extract, acerola fruit extract, lemon bioflavonoids, hesperdin complex and rutin. Can I take this form of vitamin C which I purchased to help prevent miscarriage? Will this provide the same benefits as sodium ascorbate? The product comes in powdered form and the label says add a teaspoon in a 3/4 cup of cold water."
