[YEA] 03/18/2007: Darrel from victoria, australia writes: "Apple cider vinegar: Recently been diagonised with diabetes, put on medication, low carb diets and GI plus daily exercise I still found it very hard to obtain areasonable sugar levels. Been frustrated about the whole issue I started reserching into it until I found the effect ACV has on your digestive system (reduced gastric dumping rate) and its effects on glicermic levels. To cut a long story short I started taking ACV in water with every carb loaded meal, the result has been stunning, I dont take tablets any more. On the same hand I dont go crasy with food, I always watch the GI,GL and never miss the ACV no matter whare I go. THE IMPORTANT THING IS IT MUST BE TAKEN WITH THE CARB LOADED MEALS, hope you get the same results I have."

[YEA] 03/04/2007: Millie from Harrison, Ohio writes: "Apple cider vinegar has been a prayer answered from God to stabilize the recent spikes in my blood sugar. For the past 11 years I have successfully controlled my Type 2 diabetes thru diet and supplements. About a month ago I started drinking 1-2 tbsp in a glass of water right before a meal, and I have noticed an amazing difference, with readings below 101. I feel more alive with fewer aches and pains. I am concerned about the effects on my dental health and plan to brush more frequently. But on the whole, I feel like I have been given a new outlook on life. It is very important to me to be in control of my health and keep my diabetes under control. Now with ACV, I can go on and enjoy life! God bless."

[YEA] 01/02/2007: Bill from Dayton, OH writes: "I'm one of those people who believe that drug companies are not out to cure diseases but to come up with drugs to ONLY control them so we're stuck buying them for a lifetime. After my doctor had me wear a blood pressure device for 24 hours I was told my blood pressure was high and he put me on (Micardis?). 2 months later on Superbowl Sunday, Feb. 5-06 I had a stroke. I wish I could give you numbers and readings but I don't have them. 14 years ago I was told I was a diabetic and needed to control it with diet which I never really did. Anyway after the stroke my doctor had me go get my blood tested for almost everything sugarwise. He told me of bad numbers on most everything. Then a friend told me about Apple Cider Vinegar and although it's not the tastiest thing I started taking a drink of Heinz ACV every morning. That started about 6 months ago. On my last Dr. appointment going over another blood sugar test he wanted to know how much I was exercising because my blood pressure was good and so were all my sugar numbers plus I'm almost under 200 pounds for the first time in ??? I'm at 203 with a high of 232 and haven't changed a thing in my lifestyle. I haven't exercised on a regular basis since giving up softball at the age of 46 four years ago. ACV has made a believer of me. Now if I could just pour it on my head and regrow my hair."
Replies08/07/2010: Aria926 from Port Huron, Mi replies: "Actually, you can use it on your head to regrow your hair! I had this idea several months ago and, although not on a daily basis, my husband now has fine hairs growing on top which now need to be cut with the rest of his hair. A new hairline is even visible! Every night before bed he uses unfiltered, unpasteurized ACV on a cotton ball and rubs it on top. Recently he has started drinking two tsp with organic lemonade twice daily and been eating more alkaline foods and there has been an increase in the rate of growth and in the thickness of the hairs. We are now looking into natural home remedies for blocking DHT (excess DHT has been linked to hair loss) and have found that green tea, pumpkin seed oil, emu oil, nettles, pygeum, and saw palmetto are among some of the natural DHT blockers; however, we have yet to try these."

I happen to love vinegar, but even if I didn''t.....so what? It's only two tablespoons in 1/2 glass of water. I use it now after every meal. The results are unbelievable and so well worth my health. Please tell everyone. I cannot believe I stumbled upon this amazing, inexpensive aid in lowering my blood glucose levels."

I have been reading so much about apple cider vinegar and decided to try it. Well, I was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and also came the slightly high blood pressure and cholesterol a tad high. I started to take the acv and low and behold, my next bloodwork was the best it has been in 5 yrs. If my next 2 check ups are like this last one I may go off my diabetic and blood pressure pills all together. WOW! Thank you GOD for having the acv at our disposal."

Are any of you taking statin drugs for high cholesterol or glucosamine/chondroitin for arthritis? Both of these are known to raise blood sugar and for some even cholesterol. That is another subject but thought I would mention it. I just went off statins 3 weeks ago and already my arthritis is 75% better. Waiting to get my 1AC results back on the sugar."

I have diabetes and anyone who understands diabetes knows that the longer you have diabetes the worse your digestion becomes. I have had it for 26 years and am insulin dependent and "had" terrible digestion problems, or little to no digestion. Now I drink apple cider vinegar everyday, 3 x per day 2 tablespoons in a glass of water. It has worked miracles for me and my insulin dependent. husband. Apple cider vinegar has cured my husbands IBS and eczema also. I drink it with every meal and then some. This is truly a miracle cure!!! Salute!!!"

[YEA] Ava from Farmington Hills, MI writes: "My nine year old daughter was found to have full blown diabetes 2 on May 10, 2006 and I was notified. Her readings were 118 and 117 on the 11th and on May 12th, the morning it was 122 but I began the ACV and cinnamon near lunch time and dinner. I am so excited as the research seems true. The night time reading May 12, 2006 was only 93. Yes, I know it is far too soon to feel secure but with all the other info on Earth Clinic and other places I am hoping this is the real deal, so to speak. This is what I did: 2 TBLS _______s raw, unfiltered w/ mother ACV mixed with 4-6oz of water or tea etc, and 1 tsp of cinnamon picked up with small pieces of apple for my child to eat. Both the ACV and Cinnamon have proven track records for this so I cannot even tell you which was better!!"

ASPARTAME AND DIABETES
12/04/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "I have found through using urinary sugar using the Brix, of just taking aspartame foods, caused urinary pH from a person with a healthy 6.8 to about 5 within a day after taking aspartame added foods and in some medicine. While I didn't believe the incident to be real I foolishly took the same food he did and it caused my urinary sugar to about triple from normal figures which is about diabetic, while the urinary pH became very acid, bringing about metabolic acidosis for days without end.
It should be noted that aspartame poisoning breaks down into formaldehyde and methanol alcohol and one of the effects of poisoning is metabolic acidosis, and insulin resistance.
This insulin resistance can make people who are already diabetic much worse. So if there are unbelievers out there try it at your own risk taking it, and trying to get to normal is not easy either. It is therefore best to avoid aspartame in foods and drinks, especially medicine, which seems to be much worse if the aspartame was added to the N Acetyl Cysteine. For some reason the N Acetyl Cysteine were antagonistic to certain supplements that promote lowering of blood sugar, but in this case it promoted higher blood sugar and higher metabolic acidosis.
In another case I have noted some reported having acid reflux from taking aspartame added foods, since it activated metabolic acidosis.
The information from my own observation is confirmed from another place, which provided basically the same observations I did concerning this issue. What is different is that I have found an antidote which help to some extent aspartame poisoning through taking about 1000-2000 i.u. of natural vitamin E, sodium citrate and potassium citrate (three times a day for over several days) to reduce metabolic acidosis, some vitamin B complex, and granulated lecithin. There is a study that does show this condition is helped with vitamin E in a study of methanol poisoning. Vinegar is a possible methanol poisoning in my books because I have found that whenever methanol causes skin to burn, I apply the vinegar and it stopped the inflammation or burns. I suspect it is this burns which is what causes the glandular function to be damaged bringing on insulin resistance and possible remedy to stop from diabetic induced by aspartame. Although I suspect the remedy may require something like 2 tablespoon of vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, or vinegar is taken alone. However, some people who DON'T LIKE vinegar in this case may take pickles (pickled cucumber) as a possible antidote. It is the acetic acid or even the acetate which reduces the glandular inflammation and the vinegar/acetate may have neutralize the effects. It is this reason why vinegar or even apple cider vinegar reduces blood sugar in certain people. While the whys are arguable, it does work for certain cases, especially in event of a food poisoning from aspartame. So if the cola companies tries to sell aspartame in school, this would not be a solution for diabetes in children, it is much worse than eating sugar. I should know, I tested the aspartame, and the sugar levels don't reduce, even from exercise! The article on effects of vinegar reducing sugar levels is posted below too, as a reference."
Replies07/26/2009: FuzzyRider from Hobbs, New Mexico replies: "In my eperience high doses of aspartame did not raise blood glucose levels, but did prevent these levels from dropping as quickly as they would normally. I have talked to other diabetics, but no others have noticed this effect; in fact, it was only notable in me when my glucose levels were seriously out of control"

AVOIDING CORN

[YEA] 01/03/2006: Diana from Colorado writes: "My husband 64 was type 2 and used glucovita to stabilize his blood sugar. After learning about reading about Eating right 4 your blood type he is O- he learnt that corn and potatoes was probably best avoided. We had already given up sugar white flour product and use sprouted wheat and grains. We think his biggest issue was the corn: about 2 week of not eating corn and potatoes he belched up a corn taste and has not had to stabilize his blood sugar since,( by using the glucovita.) His own body is regulating His sugar levels. He has a good appetite and eats quite a lot of natural sugars in fruit, bananas and other fruit, lots of molasses and smaller amount of honey & maple syrup (the real stuff of course) We Eat plenty unsulfured Black strap molasses. I make cakes with molasses Sprouted wheat, eggs, baking soda, soaked walnuts and coco powder or ginger. We used molasses before his blood sugars returned to normal. He didn't seem to be adversely affected by it at all. We started using Iodine will let you know more on that later although we just started about 3 days He reports feeling less cold and thinking more clearly. I have a Question regarding cocoa powder is the bromine in it or do they add it to Chocolate bars?"

Currently, I am taking ACV for allergies due to my anti-hypertensive medicine. I think it has helped me somewhat. I am hoping that long term use will further reduce incidence of allergies.
Upon searching for other remedies for diabetis for my father, I noticed that there was no mention of bitter melon or what we call ampalaya. You may want to create a category for this since it is a popular remedy here in the far east. In fact, bitter melon is prepared in different presentations as a food supplement to assist diabetics control their glucose levels. These are prepared in capsules, tea bags or leaves for boiling (unbagged tea).

BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES

02/08/2010: Fatima from London, Uk writes: "When is it the best time in the day to take organic black strap molasses for greying hair? I have just started it & I take it just before lunch, but is this the best time? Also is the dose one tablespoon a day? Can a diabetic take this remedy?"
Replies[YEA] 03/01/2010: Donald from Muskegon, Michigan, U.s. replies: "This has been my experience using black strap molases. i take it three times daily. once in the morning, once at miday and once in the evening. i pour about one incn in a styrafoam regular size glass, mix well with warm water and down the whole thing. i am 56 and started graying in my early 20,s. i am pretty much all grey with some white. i have been on this regiment for over three months. i also take b vitamins. my hair now is getting some color at the top of my head and working downward. i visited my son the other day and he said that my hair was getting darker and was i using a hair dye. i assured him that i was not. then about one week later i visited a friend i had not seen in a long time. she looked at me and asked if i was dyeing my hair. and finaly when i went to get my hair cut my barber commented that my hair was getting darker. this change of my hair can only be the result of the unsulphered blackstrap molasses (ubsm). i use only unsulphered blackstrap molases which can only be bought at health food stores in my area.also i have type II diabetes. because i am unemployed and uninsured i could not take my prescribed insulin. i just could not afford it. i googled natural cures for diabetes and found out that unsulphered molasses would cure and regulate blood sugar. it suggested using it twice daily would do the trick. recently i went and had blood work done for my diabetes and the results were that my blood sugar levels for the past three months very normal. again i contribute this to the ubsm. i am certainly not saying that one should not take their medication for diabetes but the addition of ubsm certainly cannot hurt as it is low in sugar. you would to talk to your doctor about it first. anyways usbm is working for me . i really believe that it works but in a very slow way. have patience and hang in there. have a good day. donald"
[WARNING!] 03/02/2010: Robert Henry from Ten Mile, Tn Usa replies: "NAY, this is not my experience nor what I have researched. When I tried blackstrap molasses, my sugar went out the roof for several weeks. My doctor told me that iron can mess you up big time. It took awhile to get my glucose back reasonable.I caution any diabetic about using blackstrap molasses."

[YEA] 08/28/2007: P from San Diego, CA writes: "I don't which is working, but the the blackstrap molasses drink seems to have removed my sugar cravings. I tend to snack less, don't peruse the refrigerator as much (like every 20 min or so) to find something to eat. I used to snack on yoghurt a lot, and that's not happening anymore. I think the nutrients in the BSM are dense enough to keep me balanced and are probably filling my nutritional deficiencies. Also, I've been painting with iodine, I'm sure that's helping. I also started fenugreek two days ago, which I've read also helps with sugar imbalances. Diabetes is in my family, so I'm very happy about getting information from your website. What I thought may have been mostly hormonal imbalances may have been sugar imbalances. I feel so alert these days, I notice tiny details and make the bed much faster and neater - a chore that I was never really good at."

CACTUS

[YEA] 08/25/2006: Mary from Los Angeles writes: "Since I am of Mexican descent our cure for Diabetes is to take a young pad from the Cactus plant. one rib of celery and a cup of low-fat or non-fat milk. Be sure to clean it well first. Do not handle them with your bare hands! There are some fine thorns you cannot see. Remove the thorns with a knife. Be sure to scrub the Cactus pad with a plastic scouring pad. When you have removed all the thorns including the fine ones there will be a slimy liquid that will start to come out. That's the good stuff! Cut it up put it in the blender along with the rib of celery and the cup of milk blend it well and drink it in the morning 1/2 hour before breakfast. This cure healed a man of 80 years old and he married a younger woman and they had a child. The doctor only gave him a few months to live earlier! He had a very bad liver. But this cure is for Diabetes. Good health to all. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!"
RepliesEC: We asked Mary for more information:
Ted from Bangkok , Thailand replies: "In Thailand we also have a folk remedy to cure diabetes also. In Thailand, we refer to this a "borapet" which is a type cactus in Thailand that we used to treat diabetes. It is sold in capsules and its full name is "borapet pung chang". Stevia in Thailand is also used as an ailment for diabetes too, in Thailand we refer to as "yah wan" or sweet grass.
Herbal medicines in Thailand are very easy to find and is sold in most major department stores and supermarket. A mere mention of the name and the sales people can easily find this. It is much easier to just go to the supermarket in any department stores to get this product.
Again being a skeptical person as I am, I prefer to witness first hand of diabetes being cured before I post information just to make sure they are effective.
As a result, most of my own experience I have seen that lecithin, glucophage (or goat's rue), vitamin B1, B3, and B6 are more effective. While I read a lot of literature on the chromium and vanadium being helpful for diabetic condition, I think it is always helpful, but not as dramatic as the former list I have prepared.
It is also critical to raise your body's antioxidant levels up necessary for the beta cells to survive the excess free radicals. Most free radicals that destroy them are usually free fatty acids, free heavy metals, and lack of antioxidants. The pancreas are extremely sensitive to free radicals and get easily damage, especially from free fatty acids, fructose or corn syrup.
As a result, the newer general helpful ways to raise this is to use 1/4 teaspoon of vitamin C ascorbic acid reacted with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda is a more powerful one and adding a bit of citric acid 1/8 teaspoon should help reduce internal inflammation issues as well. Or you can try a much simpler one, using freshly squeezed lemon juice (two will do) plus 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Taken between once or twice a day. The only issue I have against the lemon juice is the sugar content in most fruit juices and I therefore tend to lean on the more vitamin C side. The body tends to be much more sensitive to diabetes in certain types of sugar much more. For example, glucose and fructose or corn syrup are much more damaging to the body then ordinary sucrose or the sugar you eat everyday. It is not surprising why certain schools ban the consumption of soft drinks. Soft drinks uses fructose, and certain candies used both fructose and glucose."
08/26/2006: Mary from Los Angeles replies: "It is the Prickly Pear Cactus. The fruit is also edible but has little meat and a lot of seeds that can be eaten but the seeds should not be eaten a lot, it can cause problems with your Gall Bladder later on. The pads are very healthy but not all Mexicans eat the the cactus (nopales) but those who do usually cook them. The recipe I gave you is raw and is very curative. I believe in the near future people from all over will use this plant. Something that lives in the desert in the extreme heat and is still very green must have some special health benefits to it. On top of that it produces fruit! Buen Salud! (Good Health). I truly love your website and tell everyone I know on the internet from other countries, we all love your site. That is the common phase. I LOVE IT! Many blessings to you for this website."
06/08/2008: Diane from Burnsville, MN replies: "Can anyone tell me where you get the Vorapet Pung Chang or Prickly Pear Cactus? Please email me. Thank you."
06/09/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Diane wanting to find a prickly pear cactus: Diane, I have never heard of the Asian name you gave for this cactus, and I don't know whether they grow wild where you live, but in Tennessee, just go walking barefoot and you are most likely to find one which will be most willing to share its spines (big & little brown ones) with your bare feet. At least this is the one we call the prickly pear cactus here. If you are ever that hungry, it is also edible, said to taste like a tart green bean. It also has medicinal value as well as nutritional value."
08/09/2008: Maria from Oceanside, Ca. replies: "Response to Diane on 06/08/2008 regarding where to buy the cactus:
Hi Diane, Most Mexican markets,or Albertson's carry the catus (nopales) they are sold chopped in glass containers. Once in a while you can find in produce section. If in California you can find at outdoor farmer's markets."
04/06/2009: Becky from Denver, CO replies: "The company I'm with sells a Cactus product from the Sonoran Desert in liquid form. It has several health benefits. My neighbors husband has diabetic peripheral neuropathy in his leg's. He always had a burning sensation, cramps & pain. He could barely walk. After a few days of 3 oz per day, his legs do not hurt anymore. If you can find a good cactus product and you live with pain, give it a try."

CAYENNE IN SOCKS - DIABETICS BEWARE
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 01/20/2008: John from Panama City, FL writes: "Someone offered this advice to hunters (and anyone else looking to keep their feet warm): sprinkle cayenne in your socks. It DOES work. However, DIABETICS BE WARNED: you should be careful using any topical treatment which provides heat, be it medicinal or homeopathic (this includes cayenne, IcyHot or similar items, electric heating pads, etc.). Because diabetics often suffer from poor circulation and skin issues, using such items can produce burning, and since diabetics often do not heal as quickly, this can become a serious medical issue."
