Turmeric Cure for Cystic Acne

Home Remedy Ingredients

  • Turmeric - 1 Teaspoon
  • Black Pepper - Dash (1/8th Teaspoon)

Add a teaspoon of the spice turmeric to a small glass of milk (almond or rice will do as well as dairy), add honey if you like, and drink twice a day to clear up cystic acne almost overnight! A small dash of black pepper added to any turmeric remedy increases its effectiveness.

[YEA]  06/21/2007: Julia from Lac du Flambeau, WI: "I have suffered off and on for several years with cystic acne, mostly tried antibiotics, products with salycic acid, my son who now 15 also gets the same type of acne as my sister and even my mother did. she used to get cortisone shots injected in the 70's. I got on internet last night and saw massive responses to turmeric, and ran out to store and drank my first glass, which was disgusting. Hold your nose, chug it down, and chase with juice or pop. I put neosporin on the 3 on my face, and this morning swelling is down by 50%, and pain is gone. the disgusting taste is worth it trust me. I am amazed that something this inexpensive works so well, do doctors know? they must, but don't get money for advising patients to use something that only costs a couple dollars at a grocery store. My son is going to try today."

[YEA]  12/22/2011: Misha from Indianapolis, In replies: "Thank God for this site! I recently developed really bad cystic acne. I started to feel like Quasimodo or the Phantom of the Opera. My self-confidence was really low and I hated having to go out in public. I was dreading the thought of having to go to a dermotologist for expensive treatments or painful procedures that might not even work. So, I googled "cystic acne homepathy" and this site came up.

I read all of the raves about Turmeric, so I stopped at the store a few days ago and bought Turmeric capsules. I took 3 capsules before I went to bed and the next morning my cystic acne had healed at least 70%. I kept taking them (about 6 a day) and one cyst that I've had FOR MONTHS has flattened completely and other cysts are about 80-90% healed.

I tried facials, acne wash/creams, warm compresses, draining, and Turmeric is the only thing that has worked. I've also started putting Apple Cider Vinegar on the cysts and that seems to dry up the oozing.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! I can't even tell you how much it's changed my life."

[YEA]  12/23/2011: Crystal from Salyersvile, Ky replies: "I cannot say enough about turmeric!!! It is the best stuff for any kind of skin conditions.. I had a lot of skin tags coming on and had started taking the turmeric for cystic acne and rosacea... And to my surprise the skin tags are barely feelable now.. And I only take one per day.. I have my aunts taking it for different skin ailments and its also working for them!!"
11/12/2012: Dc-girl from Sarasota, Fl replies: "Misha, Can you please tell me how many mg of turmeric those capsule you are take are? I would like to take straight turmeric itself but I don't know how much the equivilent dosage would be in the powder form of the spice itself. Or if anyone else knows please let me know, thanks so much!"

[YEA]  01/16/2012: Anonymous from Vancouver, Bc: "Before you ignore this you might want to try it if nothing else worked.. I have used this many times and it works quickly.. use a Qtip to catch a bit of your urine, dab it on your new pimple (or old) you may have to repeat this several times but you will notice almost a complete reduction on the first day! (research urine therapy if you think this is way out there. ) - wash your hands well as it gives less of a chance of you giving yourself pink eye on this delicate matter."

[YEA]  05/03/2009: HoraceGrant from Atlanta, GA: "Urine to cure cystic acne. I just want to say urine really does work. In the past I have had to have my dermatologist give me cortisone shots directly into the nodule. This is extremely effective but becomes a hassle and pricey. I have to say urine on a cotton swab has essentially the same results. I recommend taking a swab of your first urine in the morning and hold it with some light pressure for about a minute.

Thanks earth clinic"

[YEA]  05/12/2007: Jennifer from Lansing, IL: "Urine really works for acne. I get really deep or cystic acne. The kind you can't pop and if you do it just gets worse and leaves a scar. After reading about using it for acne on this website, I just had to try it for myself. I peed on a cotton swab when I woke up and held it for a minute or so on the pimple. After just a few minutes it seemed to have brought the pimple to a head. The next day I did it again and now it's almost gone. This will be the way I handle my cystic pimple from now on. Try it and see!"

[YEA]  02/26/2007: Jess from Johnson City, TN: "I have suffered from severe cystic acne, the most severe, painful, and deepest of acne for at least 13 years (since puberty). I've tried everything. Nothing topical worked because the acne was so deep. I finally found the cure! A form of vitamin B5, pantothenic acid, in extremely high doses cured my acne completely! I have been taking 10g of pantothenic acid a day for almost a month. Within a week I could see huge results and within two weeks I was completely clear. I'm so glad I decided to try this instead of trying Accutane like the rest of my family. If you decide to try this build up to 10g/day over the course of a week (if not, it can cause stomach upset) and continue the 10g/day regimen for 2 months. After that you can gradually decrease the dosage down to a maintenance dose of 1-2g/day. This information is supported by a study done by Dr.Leung in China. The initial 10g/day dosage is extreme-the pills mostly come in 500mg doses which ends up being 20 pills/day but if you're desperate like me then it's worth it. I split mine up into 2 doses/day and dissolve the pills in a drink. It doesn't taste good but its better than having to take so many pills. I've read that smaller doses work but it may take longer to see results."

[YEA]  01/11/2007: Erin from Seattle, WA: "I'm really surprised this hasn't been posted, but the real remedy to acne or cystic acne is your own urine! Soak a cotton ball (first morning pee is best)hold it on the pimple, repeat every time you urinate, the pimple will go away. Contrary to popular belief, human urine is sterile and contains your own wasted antibodies. Don't knock it until you try it, it really works!"

03/06/2011: Starofafrika from Atlanta, Ga replies: "My mama said that when I was a baby she used to wipe my face with my urine because women from an older generation said that this would make your skin pretty.

I just developed a case of stubborn cystic acne over the past couple of weeks. I have gotten it subside greatly but not completely. I will try this first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the tip. I will be sure to let my mama know that this wasn't just an old wives tale."

Vitamin B

05/24/2012: Ashley from Vancouver, Bc: "For the past month I have had terrible trouble with Cystic acne. The type that is painful, then itchy, then becomes a large hard red bump, then will become squishy and filled with puss that is "popable" but will leave a nasty red mark for a week (if you're like me and pop it). I was on minocycline in the past but do not have the money to buy such medication and was really looking for something that was a more natural remedy. I tried all the natural topical treatments, such as Apple cider vinegar, turmeric, regular astringent, and clearasile benzile peroxide ointment.

I knew I needed something internal to do the trick, so I started taking vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) its actually a vitamin that breaks down fat, carbs and protein and also helps with acne. I've been taking it for 2 weeks now and all my previous cysts have gone away and all the ones that I could feel under this skin are starting to get smaller! I'm so happy! I also started taking Zinc which is very similar to B5! I did take some A____ but I didn't get "instant" results like some did, then again the vitamins need sometime to kick in and have your body get used to them. If you have acne like mine I would 100% suggest an internal medication such as these vitamins! They work wonders, are natural ( I found mine in the organic section of superstore) and help keep a healthy body! Hope this helps!!"

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

11/14/2012: A.i. from Kansas City, Kansas, Usa: "Sorry, but not everyone can take A____ unfortunately. My own stomach, for instance, is particularly sensitive to products with high amounts of zinc. It's absolutely a horrible, frightening reaction.

There are, however, a lot of ingredients that can be taken that are in the A____, including zinc. If one knows what is causing a sensitivity in their systems, they can always get the ingredients separately (like the echanacea, or Vitamin A), or apply them topically to the cystic acne (like suggested with the zinc). Right now, I'm taking supplemental powder (with low zinc) and protein powder and mixing it with oat 'milk' (laying off of dairy until this heals). I'll be eating organic carrots, apples and papaya* (*for the enzymes) and drinking lots of lemon water to help alkaline my system and aid in the healing. Also, I'm taking Milk Thistle to further detoxify my system to prevent another one from popping up.

In a way, I'm kind of grateful that this happened, because it is making me think about eating a lot more fruits and vegetables drinking more water and eating less refined sugars, and avoiding saturated fats, and limiting dairy."

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS]  02/27/2012: Meg from Vancouver, BC: "I've been using 2 to 3 tablets a day for around 6 days. I have noticed one really big cyst has gone down quite a bit, but I don't think I'm having as remarkable results as others. It would probably help if I kept going with this regimen, but I'm concerned about the high vitamin intake long term. They seem to have lowered the vitamin A content, so that safe daily intake allows for 2. 5 tablets. So, less of a risk of vitamin A toxicity. However, each tablet contains around 1667% of daily recommended vitamin C. Probably not safe longterm. I'm wondering if the lowered vitamin A is why this isn't working that well for me. Most forms of acne are treated by dermatologists with vitamin A derivatives: effective for acne, but lots of side effects and yes, toxic, hence accutane. It may be that those who found this effective were simply ODing on vitamin A.

If you wanted to do that now with A____, it would mean also taking upwards of 4500% your daily vitamin C, and I know when I drink this, my body gets a bit saturated and starts to tell me it's had enough! I take a few sips and just want to stop. Either way, whatever you decide is a safe limit for you, you could just get vitamin A caps and it would be a lot cheaper."

[YEA]  05/14/2012: Lady From London from London, Uk replies: "Well, I read this and my monthly cystic acne on the chin was coming, and nothing else I tried worked (ACV topically and drinking a shot of it straight, lavender oil applied over a two week period, tea tree oil), so I decided to give this a go. Well, I'm dumbfounded that the one cystic acne spot I had developing on my chin has now all but died. It started yesterday, and was big and red and painful within hours of me waking up. I took a total of 4 or 5 (I lost count) tablets of A____ in the last 24 hours and it sorted it out. I still have the remnants of the bump, but it is no longer painful, red or growing. It feels normal again, and it lost it's voom! I noticed a small breakout of the cystic acne now on my shoulder, so I hope that A____ will sort that out too. Anyway... I'm pleased! So, thank you so much for recommending this!!!! Ever so grateful :)"
07/27/2012: Loren from Madison, Wi, Usa replies: "I just found a bottle of Very Berry A____ tablets in my cabinet! But the expiration date reads 05/12, is there a possibility this will not work, even being only 3 months "old"?

If not, I will certainly buy a new bottle, I really want to try this treatment, my chin cysts are ever persistent these past few weeks..."

[YEA]  02/07/2012: Esm from Philadelphia, Pa: "I want to say Thank You for the A____ suggestion. It worked right away!!!! I had cystic acne on my chin. I had one about 1 month ago and it took a few weeks to go away. I suddenly noticed a bump on my chin just like the cyst I got last time. I freaked out b/c these things hurt. Anyway I went and bought A____ in citrus flavor. I took it early morning on Saturday. I was taking 2 every 3-4 hours. I took them all day Saturday & @ the end of the day the disgusting painful bump was gone!!!! I am amazed @ how it worked!!! I am still taking A____ just a few a day & my face looks better. Thank you a million times. I'm 32 yrs old & I never suffered from cystic acne or acne. I just had some acne through the years, but nothing major. It was managed with OTC stuff."

01/04/2012: Averi from Pittsburgh, Pa: "Thank you!!! Everyone or all your information.. I am 44 years old and was told by my dermatologist that I have too much yeast in my body which is causing my acne and cysts. I have battled acne since my early teen years but I have never had bumps like these. it's horrible and makes you feel like a monster. I get them on along my chin and jaw bone on my back and chest. They itch and hurt like hell!!! I absolutely hate it!! But to read all of these comments helps me see that I am not alone in this battle and there is help. My dermatologist has me using ketokonizole cream and shampoo and I take a form of it orally... But nothing seems to help. I'm so desperate to clear this up that I will try anything. I will be going to the store today to by some A____ and ACV. I pray it works!!!!"

[YEA]  10/16/2008: Monica from South, Georgia: "I had a big problem with cystic acne. I tried every remedy on this site and nothing worked. I changed makeup, used prescription and otc products. I prayed and prayed and kept trying different products and foods, cleanses etc. Then someone in my office got sick with a cold so I started taking those grapefruit effervescent cold immunity tablets. I noticed I didnt get any new cysts on my face. So I increased the dosage and used selson blue as a facial wash to dry up the lesions already there. My answer to prayer had finally come. I just wanted to share this in case there is someone else out there who has tried everything it wont hurt to try one more thing. This could be the answer for you as well. The box dosage is 3 tablets a day but Im taking 4-6 a day. I hope this helps."

[YEA]  05/30/2009: Erin from Naperville, IL replies: "I have also found A____ to be extremely effective against cystic acne, but you have to start taking it as soon as you feel a bump coming on. I have taken all the flavors, not just the grapefruit, and had success, but I do think the grapefruit tastes the best. I take one fizzy tablet dissolved in water as soon as I feel a painful bump forming and I continue taking one every few hours until it goes away ... usually less than 24 hours. I have been doing this for several years and I swear by it. It's better than any treatment I ever got from my dermatologist!"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  01/09/2010: Ria from Piscataway, Nj, Usa replies: "I am 22 and my face recently started breaking out in cystic acne. I stopped using makeup, (MAC Cosmetics & Clinique) increased my water intake, exercised, drank ACV but nothing was working. Yesterday I was browsing around the house and happened to find some of these tablets. That night I did my regular routine (washed with African black soap for a minute) and then took ONE pill. Afterwards I wiped my face with lemon and ACV. I woke up this morning and my bumps have decreased DRAMATICALLY!! I definitely recommend. Today i'm going to buy some Pantothenic Acid Pills and see how they work! Thank you for this advice!!"
03/10/2011: Sjc from Philadelphia, Pa replies: "Thank you all so much for this advise. I'm 42 years old and to have to live with skin that breaks out more than my 14 year old daughter is extremely embarrassing. I too have tried everything but nothing works for long. Now I'm feeling very confident about trying this remedy. Thank you so, so much."
[YEA]  05/15/2011: Jacqueline from Cream Ridge, Nj Us replies: "I am 41 and I have had cystic acne for about 11 years now and I have tried everything and could not get rid of it. I read this blog and decided to try the Orange flavored A____. I take one a day and in about 2 1/2 weeks my face is clear and I haven't had any new breakouts! I am so happy!"
08/04/2011: Emipol from Montreal, Quebec, Canada replies: "I'm 15. Every once in a while, I get this huge pimple on my chin, on top of the acne that I already have. It's under the skin and it hurts alot. It's really embarassing and it does nothing for my self-esteem. I'll try your remedy and hope for the best. ;)"

[YEA]  05/20/2012: Kathye from Smyrna, Ga: "I've done the A____, Apple Cider Vinegar, Tea Tree etc... While these remedies worked a bit to relieve the length of time a cysts remained on my face - bottom line I was STILL breaking out and developing new cycts weekly if not daily. I visited an accupuncturist - she did a simple test on me manuvering my arms and head this way & that, etc... She told me I had parasites. We all carry them, she told me. I was shocked! OMG I bought the zz ointment after 8 weeks I have NO NEW CYSTS developing and only very small pimples on occasion. It got WORSE before it got better, which was really hard to take, but stay with it!

My face is getting back its normal color - amazing!"

04/22/2013: All Natugal from West Palm Beach, Fl, Usa replies: "What is A___? Accutane? I've started getting about 1 cystic visitor every month and it's the worst problem I've ever had. I am 28 and never had these growing up. I think it is related to me being on the pill for 10 years. Today I ingested Vitamin C, Zinc 50, liquid turmeric, women's multivitamin, echinecea, liquid vitamin B12 and Apple Cider Vinegar. I applied a lemon, saw palmetto honey and apple cider vinegar in separate increments to the affected area. So far the honey drained it, the lemon subsided the swelling and pain and the ACV just dried it out. I then applied a Rx cream called Epiduo later in the day. If anyone here is a female in their 20's, never had kids, took or on the pill and gets few but re-occurring cysts on their chin area and has found a solution please let me know. Also please share what foods you have found to be targets for the problem. Is it coffee, peanuts, bread? Help!"
