hi im emailing to ask about a/c on behalf of my father. He contracted ross river virus from mosquito bites years ago and now has chronic fatigue syndrome/Fibromyalgia. He is taking medications for high blood pressure and other ailments and was wondering if it would be worthwhile trying activated charcoal. For the past year, I have been suffering from severe headaches, my heart would beat extremely fast just from standing up, and dizziness. I knew that it was serious when my head was hurting so bad one day that I went to lie down and woke up almost 15 hours later. I found this website while looking for a cure for gout for someone else. I sent them the information and then began to read the other parts of this site. After my reading, I wrote out a list and I went to the health food store immediately after work. I have been taking the mixture of the water with ACV, liquid garlic, cayenne pepper and blackstrap molasses for a week now. For the first time in a year, I am feeling so much better. My heart rate has slowed. My headaches are gone. I am using the bathroom on a regular basis now and I am not sleepy all of the time. I am also taking multi-vitamins. Doses for ACV, blackstrap and cayenne vary, mostly according to the individual, but some typical doses would be:

  • 1 -3 t. Apple Cider Vinegar in water once or twice a day.
  • 1/4 t. cayenne pepper 2-4 times a day.
  • 1-2 T. blackstrap molasses.

Have you looked into the viral link to Chronic fatigue?

Antiviral remedies like coconut oil or bht may be worth considering as well.

I recently read that people who suffer from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia benefit remarkably from cortisol treatments (75 per cent showed significant improvement, and 62 per cent reported substantial improvement). This is because they have adrenal dysfunction, meaning their adrenal glands, which produce sex hormones and cortisol, don't work effectively. I suspect this is due to viral damage. Cortisol is that stress hormone... you get a shot of it in fight or flight situations for a quick burst of energy, decreased pain sensitivity, etc. Proper levels are important for proper glucose metabolism, regulation of blood pressure, insulin release for blood sugar maintanence, immune function and inflammatory response. Maybe this is why when you exercise it makes it worse because your cortisol levels should increase with aerobic exercise to help deal with the wear and tear. The bulk of cortisol release happens when we sleep, which would also explain why you might not wake up feeling refreshed. If you read up on cortisol, you'll see that if you don't have enough, you just don't have access to energy to burn.

I would definitely try the cortisol therapy, but perhaps there is a more natural way to stimulate the adrenal glands. Research has found that the nutrient Phosphatidylserine (PS) helps balance both high and low levels of cortisol. Usually our brains manufacture sufficient levels of PS, but if there is a deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B12, or of essential fatty acids, the brain may not be able to make sufficient PS levels. So get lots of fish, ridiculous amounts of dark green vegetables, and even rice and soy (or lecithin, I imagine). You can find PS supplements...they used to make them from cow's brains, but now they make a soy lecithin-derived one. (Phew!) At the very least, this nutrient would help with brain fog.

(My interest in chronic fatigue stems from having the Epstein Barr virus. I couldn't shake the fatigue for years and years. I did find getting fish oil and a teaspoon of chlorella everyday finally produced some results, which I would recommend to absolutely everyone!)

Epstein virus doesn't have anything to do with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome except that it could be one or more of the secondary conditions that it could result from it. Many CFS people also have FMS. CFS causes immune dysfunction opening you up to many possible infections.

The hallmark symptom of CFS is neuro cognitive dysfunction syndromes and not fatigue. The name CFS was intentionally created by the powers that be to as a psyops weapon to be used against people with CFS. CFS is also called Myalgic Encephalemyelitis and Chronic Farigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome.

The term Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Faigue Syndrome are two different things. The former is a waste basket diagnosis. Many who think they have CFS, really have CF. There are very few doctors who know anything about the disease so many people will get misdiagnosed.

Cortisol studies were done by the NIH a long time ago. I followed their studies long time ago. Their primary motive was political in which to get CFS classified as a psychological disease - depression.

When the NIH study tested CFS people cortisol levels, they found that the cortisol levels were at opposite levels from people with depression. So they just lied again and concluded that no matter what the cortisol levels were, CFS was just a depression.

The entire cortisol thing was a sham with political motives behind it. Deposit the cortisol thing into the waste basket. There is a lot of people with CFIDS who just don't want to know so won't touch the political aspects with a 100 foot pole. The lies comfort them more.

Many people have no history of the disease. There is a large government disinformation program on the internet to steer people away from the real cause.

I have chronic fatigue syndrome and I read that raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar kills bacteria and can give you energy. Well guess what ? It does give me a burst of energy every time I add it in my water. If this apple cider can give a patient with CFS a burst of energy, imagine what it can do for someone who is healthy !

I'am so! delighted to have found this site, and the recommendation of ACV- i have been suffereing with ongoing CFS for 11 and a half years, and within that time i always seem to be v. susceptible to picking up viruses, esp. prone to sinus probs. anyhow - this ACV seems to do the trick! it def. put a hold on me developing full blown sinusitus - it seems to diminish the viral flu type aches and pains and definately diminishes the catarrh - seems to kill of the headaches too. i have only been using an Organic Cyder Vinegar bought from the local supermarket, so am assuming if i went to the health food store, the product may work even better - dont know, but all i know is it has saved me taking to my bed - i notice also whilst taking it that i have slightly more energy. anyhow, am so! glad to have discovered it.

Hi Ted, I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 20 years now and was delighted to read your valuable information and am really desperate for your advise.

I tried your recipe of 2 x tablespoon ACV & 1/4 tspn bicarb Soda and for the first time in 20years felt well with great energy. However, I am now suffering with chronic constipation from the ACV & Bicarb Soda. I am very aware that I have candida very badly too, the other day I consumed raw garlic with lunch and suffered very bad indigestion and again became very constipated. Due to years of food intolerances, allergies and severe hayfever (all year round) I have developed severe poloyps in my nose and am desperate to avoid yet another operation. However, you mentioned lemons in one of your remedies but because of my sensitivities I am unable to take lemons (i live in Australia).I am also aware that I am unable to digest my food should I take something for this.I would love to keep taking your remedies but might need them modified, can you please help me.

The reader mentioned allergies and indigestion. I have found taking multipurpose enzymes will take care of the indigestion and allergies. Take 1-5 enzymes per meal. All natural. Within a few weeks, you should notice your allergies greatly improving, and have good digestion!! Get enzymes capsules that are enzymes only. No HCl, etc.

L: Quercetin and Pyroquinelonequinone (PQQ) are also good for restoring Mitochondria, as are most all antioxidant nutrients, preserving cell integrity to some degree; so supplementing the diet insures the loss of M decay.

There is probably a correlation w/ the Astragalus anti aging effect on the Mitochondria and Chromosome or Telomere. The antioxidant nutrient Resveratrol is also known longevity supporter.

CFS is well known among those of us who have the mold-susceptible haplotype to be caused by toxic mold exposure in a water damaged building. For some, early on, simply getting out will restore health. For others, with lengthy exposures, it can take years and specialized medical treatment will be required. Doctors in general are not cognizant of this or will say it can't happen because they cannot get away from the concept that this is not an allergic reaction. 24% of the population has a mold-susceptible haplotype, and we are the ones who get extremely ill when living or working in a water damaged building (the water damage may not be visible.)

Hello, I believe that you are onto something about the fluoride poisoning and chronic fatigue syndrome. At the same time that I became ill, I started noticing spots on my daughters teeth. Unfortunately, I have not only dealt with chronic fatigue but extreme mood swings, mental illness, etc., I think all a result of fluoride poisoning.

I started a detox recently and started drinking distilled water, immediately within days I felt better on the distilled water. I then started to detox my body using kelp and that has helped my body too.

I also have added the alkalyzing protocols of Teds's, adding baking soda to my acv or lemon twice a day and that has even further helped the chronic fatigue.

I'm in the process of getting a filtering system put into my home, I would recommend others look into this! This fluroide is killing people and the cities keep adding it back to the water, I don't understand it!

IMHO there are several holes in the fluoride connection logic. For me personally, I've known about the dangers of fluoride for years and avoided it persistently. I have done detoxes, too. I still have CFS but am responding quite well to anti-viral, antibacterial treatment and megadoses of vitamin C via IV. Also, CFS/fibromyalgia has been around for centuries. Fluoride water treatment, toothpastes, and medication haven't. If anybody would address these issues I would be more than happy to change my mind.

Fluoride is hidden in medications and also "natural health products" vits, supplements, and even if you eat organic produce its probably been watered in fluorieded water! And then washed in fluorided water! We have to be ever vigilant, this is allowed by law and doesn't have to be printed as a health warning. Then theres the packaging issuse, how many people are aware that most organic ready prepeared veg or salad, has been washed in chlorine bleach and of course flourided tap water! I am talking from experience, because of nerve damage, Fibro, (which my consultant told me, ME, fibro, and cfs, are all the same illness) some of us have it to a degree that we're not aware we have it, and by God! Some of us fear death before cure as we can't un-wrap slice, or cut our food up, pour or hold a glass of water, sit, wash, or dress with no help. Get in or out of bed, open mail, med, vit, or supplement containers? The only way to be sure is to grow it, raise it, kill it and cook it. Even organically raised animals are given tap water to drink! I have spent thousands on electrical appliances to peel chop, grind, what ever, and I can't switch them on or off, and the vibration is hell! I've had a hip replacement, my other one needs doing, disc detereation, arthritis, neuropathic nerve pain all over my body, I was a supreme athlete, but amonghst the locals I was know as that fit girl who was always drinking tap water!!! That and the drugs I should never been given in the first place wreaked my life!! So please, by all means share your trials and experiences, but don't be so self santimonious! I'm sorry your unwell, but its true, theres always people with no help worse off than yourself!!

I absolutely believe that fluoride chemical makes us sick. We are lucky to have fluoride voted down here, This is interesting I read that Dr David Bell made a striking discovery on the cause of Chronic Fatique Syndrome there is a cause, the blood circulation blood value and plasma is not circulating the way it should be that CFIDS may have "extraordinarily" low circulating blood volume this is NOT low blood pressure. What would cause that toxins or a deficiency maybe a microscopic bacteria or an infection?

I agree with you Aidan, re Biological Weapons as the cause for M.E. / CFS in North America. I became very ill in 1985. Was diagnosed by Dr. Byron Hyde in 1989 with M.E. I was represented by a Professor who had worked with Garth Nicholson at the Institute for Molecular Medicine, in Irvine California, I believe. It was Nicholaon who was working on a Mycoplasma that would become a Bio Weapon , and was used by the U.S. Govt and patented by them...Mycoplasma Fermentans Incognitis, to be exact. It was weaponized and dusted with crystalline Brucellosis , which was "dusted " on mosquitoes and released on the public by aemail methods, from airplanes, over Eastern Ontario, where I live, but also released in other areas!

Do an online search for " biological weapon testing in the United States, and do the same search for "Canada" , it will all come up. Also " Google search" The same for the U.K. And Australia!

I agree with Ted that cloves help. I take clove oil a just couple drops in water. Cloves kill parasites, my doctor has me change the herbs every month one month GSE Berberine following month Allimax which is mega garlic it was suggested I do this for two years which is a very long time, but that is the time it takes to kill them. A study found that one-third of people with chronic fatigue that were tested, were found to be infected with Giardia lamblia. Another study found one-half of people tested were infected with Candiada albicans, which is yeast. Getting checked at the right lab with right experts make all the difference in the world, Also mold poisioning can look like chronic fatigue since most doctor are not trained in diagnosing mold illness they don't even know what tests to give you. You have to find a mold doctor that is specialized pr an environmental illness doctor they will know how to treat you. Mold illness symptoms are as intense as Lyme.

The idea of what kinds of viruses is causing the CFS is just one question, the other is more broader question whether other viral strains are possible also. The olive leaf can be clean using a mild non fragrance soap, or a no fragrance shampoo. THe olive leaves may also be inspected visually and then are separated. The clean fresh young leaves are your best bet. Then you just prepared a drink using the blender after collecting them and refrigerate unused portions. The chronic fatigue I know that works, at least for a short term, is the clove oil mixed in ethanol alcohol, the ones you find in vodka, and make a 5-10% solution of that then is applied throughout the body or a clove oil shots (like beer shots) where vodka one capful is used, plus a 3-5 drops of clove oil is prepared.

Clove oil - Bangkok Ted hello - is it possible to get that in Bangkok? If so, where? I cannot even find tea tree oil here. I made my own solution with cloves and water - seel below.

Also... I have long running fatigue / breathing problems and since addressing them with a breathing therapy that detoxes the body... (past nearly 4 years) I've noticed it's all happening in the bowels / digestion. As the liver and kidneys are kicking out a lot of stuff - both foul smelling bio-nasties, and some kind alcoholic / aldehydic unpleasant volatile organic chemical.

Anyway one thing I've noticed is sensitivity to mould - in aircon units / damp hotels etc. In my old apartment in Bangkok I discovered mould in the aircon when I was very sick and got a company round to clean the units (the landlord was terrible).

So outside my window was a shelf where aircon cooler sat and where the rain water collected. The aircon guys had stripped away a big carpet of moss for me, but whenever I went past that room my breath caught me with a coughing fit and wheezing.

As part of that demoulding, I had made clove tea - from boiling up a lot of cloves in water. So thinking maybe the ledge was the culprit for much bad air, I poured the clove mixture all over the ledge, and used a sweeping brush to scrub it in.... Strangely 15 minutes later.... It's like the air had transformed.... I am with Heidi in the Alps, singing Sound of Music. No more tightness / asthma... feeling of suffocation.

Cloves do seem to do something very powerful.

OUt of interest, while that external drama was going on I was finding I was getting very itchy feet and hands. I have a feeling there is mould contamination of my body and it's trying to fight it. I have something under my big toenails. And very dry skin hard skin like a camel's on the knuckles of my big toes.

Inspired by Bangkok Ted's points about clove oil, I am wondering whether to make more of that clove tea and soak my feet in it.

I would also like to understand the mechanism / history of this mould stuff in the body. I do know that as a baby my mum and I lived in a damp unheated basement in a very cold part of Northern Scotland - there were slugs inside and I got very sick with bronchitis. I wonder if I was first attacked by mould then and developed a low-level infection / alllergy that has continued to this day, dragging me down?

A good thing is I seem to be getting more aware of mould. I am staying right now in Chiang Mai for a few days and they put me in a room where I didn't like the smell. Everytime I went in I could smell it. I selpt for 3 hours in there and then went up on the balcony and slept sat up on a lounger the rest of the time. I asked to see a new room and they happily changed it for me. I also got a - much much mouldier - room changed in Laos in a cheap hotel about 3 months ago. I asked to move upstairs which was better - for 1 night it didn't matter so much. But I find mould has a big effect on my breathing and energy levels. So I would definitely advise anyone with CFS / health problems to be assertive if you're staying somewhere - get out of any place that is mouldy. If it's a damp climate, take a room on an upper floor because these are better. In these tropical climes it's better to find a living space where you can get air flow right through the room (with mozzie screens) and fans... this is healthier than air con.

If anyone has had health gains from demoulding - both the body and environment... Please can you advise on resoures / sources of practical advice?

Most doctors don't have any idea what CFS is so many people get misdiagnosed. One should get a ciguatoxin test done for confirmation.

Hi, Yes I also have CFS and Fibromyalgia which I know I encountered living in my old apartment where I was for 13 years. I was getting sicker and sicker, sleeping all day, severe migraines. I finally found out when I was remodeling the bathroom. When we took down the shower walls, the mold was so thick it looked like pudding painted all over the walls. At that point it attacked me and my children violently. We have now been out of that house for a year. I have 6 children, I can no longer work due to my health conditions. The mold was eating the nerves in my body. Mold is so bad... Most people dont even know about it.

I'm on disability and am officially diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, which has been going on for 7 years now and started shortly after I developed mononucleosis.

Six months ago, I stopped using all forms of oil high in either Omega 6 OR Omega 3; switching exclusively to coconut oil, and using also some butter and some olive oil. Due to this switch, I noticed an immediate improvement in my chronic fatigue.

I did that based on othe research of Ray Peat, PhD after YEARS of using stuff like grapeseed oil and fish oil/krill/cod liver oil thinking that I needed the Omega 3's, or in the case of grapseed oil, thinking the high smoke point would save me from oxidation more than other cooking oils would.

I had also hoped the coconut oil would help with weight loss, as I've gained 30 lbs in the past year for no particular reason. It did not help with my weight loss but I noticed a significant improvement within a few days in regards to clarity of mind and energy. In fact, for the first week or so, I felt significantly improved, and thought I was well on my way to being cured. At that point, I was eating 3-5 tablespoons of the stuff each day.

Unfortunately, the polyunsaturated oils do not appear to have been *THE* cause of my chronic fatigue syndrome - at least I don't think so but it takes 4 years for that huge, life-long buildup of toxic unsaturated fatty acids to leave my body - but the coconut oil helped, it reduced my CFS to a more manageable level of discomfort, so I wouldn't stop using coconut oil for anything; nor will I ever be fooled into thinking that take Omega 3's is a good idea again either.

There have been studies done where scientists hypothesized that giving Omega 3's to pregnant women would increase the child's IQ - since we're all under the impression that Omega 3's are the ticket to health and longevity. Those scientists were perplexed and disappointed with the results: There was a significant trend toward the opposite: Lower IQ's in the babies. That is news I can personally use with two daughters in their 20's who are looking forward to building their own families soon. (And yes, I gave them Omega 3's while they were growing up, since they were babies; which I regret.)

(Google Ray Peat - the study I'm thinking of about the pregnant women was a French study, which he mentions in some article or the other.)

But that's getting a bit off topic.

Point is, the coconut oil helped. I usually just use it for cooking but sometimes I'll take a tablespoon or two in the morning, when I feel it will help with my energy and/or appetite.

Still looking for a CFS cure. For the last several weeks, I've been using the Lugol's iodine at 12.5 - 15 mg per day, and am considering working up to higher doses. That has cured my low body temperature and intolerance to cold (icy feet), but it's too soon to know whether it is the cure I'm looking for. I think the Lugol's has helped with brain fog but it's too soon to tell for sure.

Yesterday, I began adding 1/2 tsp baking soda in water 2x a day to see if that helps.

Also, I have become aware of the fluoride connection. I was one of those kids who had white spots on the teeth from flouride treatments, and I have only ever drunk tap water, usually filtered with a Brita. So today I'm going fluoride free and will try distilled water only for the next month or so; and will avoid all other sources of flouride as well.

Will definitely let earth clinic know if any particular remedy gives me my life back.

Update: My chronic fatigue syndrome is going away! Ted's borax remedy, avoiding as many sources of fluoride as is possible, liver detoxing, sunshine, coconut oil, magnesium citrate, NAC, milk thistle, and iodine seem to be the remedies that have led to my improved health.

Additionally, I've gotten as much rest as possible (in bed most days until recently) and lots of love and support from my darling husband -- which was hard to accept because I was so ashamed to be sick all the time.

I've tried many things that did not help such as Lysine, D ribose, mega doses of vitamins, various drugs from the doc, lethicin (although I may try it again for a different purpose).

I've gone from being cold, sick, brain foggy and bedridden to having a normal body temperature, enough energy to interact with people and to essentially cook my family's meals, get some exercise, and to be a fairly good housewife. (I used to work two jobs so although this is a big step, it's not enough to make me feel completely cured.)

My severe depression and anxiety are nearly completely gone and I believe I may be able to return to school soon. My brain issues are so much better that I'm even considering going for a biology degree.

I still have many issues, such as continual abdominal cramping, insomnia (although much, much improved - I use natural remedies for that but believe the borax was the main factor), PCOS and weight gain that isn't resolving with dieting, but energy and health are the most important things. I can work on the rest if my brain is functioning and I have energy to shop for healthy foods and to exercise.

Feel free to ask questions. It occurs to me that I may have had adrenal fatigue and all the time and bed rest may have helped to cure that aspect of my chronic fatigue, but the change from pre coconut oil, Lugol's and borax to post was fairly dramatic.

I am sorry that you are having so much ill health, I know how you feel. I've had CFS for 64 years, after a nasty flu my freshman year in high school. It took me 5 years to stop running a low grade fever every day and start feeling better. I didn't even know what it was until the Incline Village outbreak. I've had several relapses since I got this. Stress does it every time. I take enough supplements that I should have opened my own health food store so I could get a discount. But that is daydreaming, my health wouldn't permit it. I am presently taking tyrosine for sleep, and I found that the PABA and DMAE combination is great for the brain fog. I pray that you will soon be in remission.

To Heather from San Diego, First off, Congratulations on your great results!

I have questions which have to do with your use of borax, but the EC form won't allow me to modify the subject line to include Borax in it.

Heather, could you please give some more details on your use of the Borax? How much did you take, and how frequently? How did you know, and how long did it take for you to know positively that it was Borax making the difference? Did you use 20 Mule Team or something else? This is important for me to know. Did the Borax initially produce an increase of pain for you?

I used borax (20 Mule) per Ted's instructions, 1/8 tsp in a liter of water 4 days per week.

It seemed to help a lot. I was using it with Lugol's. After a few months, I developed cysts in my liver and kidneys, which were painful. I was afraid it could be related to the Lugol's or the borax, so I stopped them both for 6 months.

Now I am taking tiny doses again, i.e., a small pinch of borax twice per week and lugol's 5% 1 or 2 drops a few times per week as well. I am not sure there was any connection, just stopped taking them because they were the only things I suspected might be a cause. I am doing well on the lower doses.

Chronic fatigue still much improved but not cured with the above protocol.

Studies have also shown aging. The reason why these unhealthy effects occur is likely because fish oils cause oxidation in the brain. One needs protection against the oxidation. I always take krill oil because it has much lower oxidation risk and highly absorbs. Fish oil has a tiny bit of astaxantin but not enough.

More importantly I take at least 4 mg of astaxanthin to protect myself from the oxidation that could come from the fish oil along with other beneficial effects. Alternatively, there are non fish oils but they seem more expensive.

Hi I have been battling a string of health problems due to chronic stress. The one thing that made everything worse was chronic fatigue. 4 Days ago i could barely get enough strength to get out of bed in the morning. I searched this site for a cure, and found that virgin coconut oil helps. I had bought some a few weeks ago, i started drinking 2 tablespoons a day, it has given me enough energy to get through the day, and be active at work and even enough to go out after work and have a life. It has even helped with my bowel movements. all this after less than a week. I cant wait to see if it can help me with everything else.

hi i could not agree less with Henry as far as coconut oil is concerned - i have used coconut oil in cooking mu food to rid of CFS myself - my doctors could not diagonise my condition and i was in extreme tiredness every day end after - i surfed the interent and found this remedy -i definitely recommend the use coconut oil as exercise or healthy diet did not help.
