High Cholesterol Remedies

"Cholesterol is a lipid found in the cell membranes of all animal tissues, and it is transported in the blood plasma of all animals. Cholesterol is also considered a sterol (a combination steroid and alcohol). Because cholesterol is synthesized by all eukaryotes, trace amounts of cholesterol are also found in membranes of plants and fungi.

The name originates from the Greek chole- (bile) and stereos (solid), and the chemical suffix -ol for an alcohol, as researchers first identified cholesterol in solid form in gallstones by Francois Poulletier de la Salle in 1769. However, it is only in 1815 that chemist Eugene Chevreul named the compound "cholesterine".

Most of the cholesterol in the body is synthesized by the body and some has dietary origin. Cholesterol is more abundant in tissues which either synthesize more or have more abundant densely-packed membranes, for example, the liver, spinal cord and brain. It plays a central role in many biochemical processes, such as the composition of cell membranes and the synthesis of steroid hormones." (Wikipedia)

[YEA]  03/03/2010: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "Getting Cholesterol down without medicine...

I have recently consulted with a hotel chairman group in Phuket about getting his cholesterol down, which is actually not a stict regimen at all. Before I start I might as well show you the figures. On January 7, 2010, he decided to test how effective my remedies were and got a blood test.

Here are his figures: Cholesterol 304, Triglyceride 275, HDL Cholesterol 56, and LDL Cholesterol 197. Normal figures should be below 200 for cholesterol, 150 for triglyceride, more than 40 for HDL, 130 for LDL, and his fasting glucose is 92. On the SI scale it's 5. Units are often mg/d for cholesterol, while mg per dL the rest.

On February 10, 2010, after using my simple remedy, here is his recent blood test, which is roughly 5 weeks after the first blood test: Cholesterol is 207 (about 100 points reduction), triglyceride is 57 (a 78% reduction), HDL cholesterol 49, LDL cholesterol is 147. So the focus has always been reducing total cholesterol and triglyceride, as you can see.

The remedy is simple: avoid drinking alcohol, and all vegetable oils used for cooking in foods such as main dishes and all bakery products for at least 2 months, but in this case it was done in 5 weeks. If and when it is necessary for cooking using oils, then just use coconut oil only. Vegetable oils get oxidized and go rancid inside the body and become really sticky goo, causing these plaques, liver problems and heart disease. This can easily be demonstrated by leaving say canola oil out in the sun for about 1-2 months or outside are. They will eventually become glue. It maybe faster if you heat them and then leave it out for a week. They become oxidized easily, while there is no effect on these chemical change using either lard or coconut oil, when they are similarly exposed. The other thing is to take lecithin one teaspoon a day with every meal and once before you sleep. One additional thing is to avoid late night dinners such as after 6 pm if possible. To get HDL up, you simply eat the yellow egg yolk and throw away the whites (they are anti nutrients and is used as antidote for food poisoning because of this binding ability). The yellow egg yolk consumed should preferably be still liquid. Of course the last suggestion the Chairman didn't follow because he was desperate to get all cholesterol figures down, and didn't bother consuming the egg yolk which would have raised his HDL. I believe he will soon as numbers are getting normal, assuming of course that he doesn't go back to drinking, or consuming vegetable oils used in cooking fried chicken, french fries and fats buildup also occur when you also consume the fructose, found in fruit juices, which I prefer to stay away if I wanted to get cholesterol levels down fast. 300 is fantastically high numbers and 200 or less are much more manageable. This remedy the Chairman did not take any statin drugs or any medication, as this shortens people's lifespan when they are on statins, and causes strokes while lowering the cholesterol level. Cheese and milk and dairy product is avoided as usual.

I am currently investigating the use of orange oils in reducing cholesterol in the blood. This comes from my experience in the cleaning industry where we use orange oils, or d-limonene, to remove heavy grease. Of course the orange oils is mixed say 20 drops per 2 teaspoon of granulated lecithin in a blender, mixed with 250 cc of water and is taken three times a day. This should in theory remove the rancid sticky oils from cooked vegetable oils that get recirculated inside the body.

In any event, no pharmaceutical drugs was used in my remedy in reducing any cholesterol was needed.

Regarding the use of niacin to reduce the cholesterol I believe is a risky venture. That's because it is true niacin reduces blood cholesterol, but in the 1930s it's been known that fact, what is not known is it increases liver cholesterol. To the displacement of cholesterol goes from the blood into the liver, causing liver damage. It's know well in the time release niacin, but in the 1930s there was no timed release niacin and it still does the damage to the liver. Hence I don't generally use niacin to reduce cholesterol. I however use niacinamide, which doesn't cause the flush, but the aim here is not the issue of cholesterol, but in the use against depression, anxiety and panic attacks, as well as suicidal depression, usually require 500 mg and takes about 45 minutes for it to take effect. As far as non flush niacin is concerned, Inositol Hexanicotinate, those don't reduce cholesterol either. However, the chemical properties of orange oil, whose main component is d-limonene, also found in lemon oil too, can dissolve heavy grease inside the body when mixed with an oil soluble lecithin to aid in the delivery to reduce overall cholsterol, especially the LDL, which are the stickiest of all the cholesterol and hardest to remove.

If it does reduce using the lemon oil or orange oil, it's best not to overdo that and I always think after doing for a month or so to take another blood test to make sure it's not overdone."

Also, do you think, this can be used along with oral chelation EDTA?? To hopefuls reduce the arterial plaque. What dose and what precautions do you recommend?

Your words of wisdom and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. God bless."

SIDE EFFECT

12/24/2011: Drini from Anchorage, Alaska writes: "Hi to share my story about high cholesterol like everybody here. My cholesterol is around 250 low HDL high LDL I am very active, moderate diet (almost never overeat), Exercise at least every other day for at least 1 hour non stop. Still my cholesterol is inherited condition. Doctor sugested that I took statin. After about 2 weeks then I started feeling the side effects then called the doctor that sad to stop the medicine. Started checking sites on line then found EC site started reading about how many people have used ACV to lower cholesterol I was amazed. There has to be something good about it. Why the doctors do not prescribe it even if it works for 10-20 or more % of the people with high cholesterol I have no idea. Decided to give ACV a try to see if it will work better. Have altered my diet too. Today is 24 Dec 2011 will report in about 1-2 months. Thanks EC and all members for your info."

I'm not overweight and I don't eat processed food or fried foods.... Basically eat very healthy. I'm almost 60 years old and very active. I cannot take the cholestrol medication because I get reactions to the statins. I tried once and very quickly started having problems with the muscles in my legs and immediately quit taking them. I do NOT want to take medications.

I'm loving this website and I want to try using ACV as much as possible. I bought some in pill form and I also bought a jug of the juice. I've just started today taking the pills and as I was drinking a glass of ice tea that had lemon and honey in it I put 1/2 Tbsp of the ACV in it and I really like the flavor combination.

So my big question is........ Do the pills work as good as the liquid?????? Can someone answer and verify that for me?"

[YEA]  02/13/2011: Tonyroos from Selden, New York writes: "Ok, here's my story. I'm a 49 yr old male who exercises 3x a week. I'm eat oatmeal for breakfast and turkey on whole wheat for lunch everyday. I eat a normal dinner. And don't eat sweets. I have always had a hard time keeping my cholesterol in check. Guess it's hereditary. I recently had my blood work back in Nov 2010. My numbers were : total cholesterol 226, HDL 156 and LDL 52. My doctor want to put me in a statin because my HDL kep going higher each year.

I searched on the internet for natural ways to lower cholesterol and found that apple cider vinegar was a cure to lower it. I went for my new blood work and told the PA that I was drinking AVC to lower my cholesteral. She gave me a smirk like I was wasting my time trying this.

Just got back my new bloodwork results and here they are: total 186 , HDL 126 and LDL 42. The nurse who read me my results suggested that I still consider statin medication since I will still over the HDL guideline of 100. I told her that I would pass.. So in 4 months my cholesteral dropped significantly. I drink Trader Joe's organic ACV. And I also added Bob Mill's flaxseed to my oatmeal in the morning. My advice is try and fix your "ailments" naturally before you start to take medication prescribe by your doctor who is getting kickbacks from drug companies."

My Dr. thought my numbers looked great (not that different from yours). Keep in mind that almost as many people with regular and low cholesteral have heart attacks as do those with high cholesteral. Big pharma has gotten to your Dr.!!!

We need cholesteral to make hormones, including vitamin D, to give our cells structure and protection, help strengthen our immune system and to make bile that helps us break down fats.

Your LDL is low, that is what most Dr.s would worry about, not having a high HDL. We want a high HDL. If you are still concerned about your numbers, please do not take a statin, it restricts circulation of oxygen to your heart, cause muscle weakness and spasms. It can cause eye problems, and general loss of quality of health. Consider taking more fiber in your diet. This will absorb the cholesteral in your bile and prevent it from being reabsorbed back into your body via the intestinal wall. Consider niacin flushes (start with a very low dose to get used the the feeling of turning red and tingely! ).

There is so much good information here on this site, you will do so much better for your body by taking the natural route instead of listening to your Dr. on this one. I am blessed I have a great Dr. She spends up to an hour with me on most visits, and treats my whole person, not just the symptoms! "

I have been taking ACV for almost some time now.
Reason high cholesterol and so on.
My reading taken on the 23/10/09
Cholesterol 7.73, Trigleycerides 1.33, HDL-C 0.94, LDL-C 6.19 and Chol: HDL Ratio 8.22 all in mmol/L measurment. I went on an offensive method thats ACV 2 cap full, Lemon 2 teaspoon and 1 teaspoon of honey with pipping hot water drinking slowly.

Current result taken on 07/01/2010
Cholesterol 4.63, Trigleycerides 1.55, HDL-C 1.05, LDL-C 2.88 and Chol: HDL Ratio 4.41 all in mmol/L. For me it works well but in term of loosing weight I don't see much. I introduced ACV to my Manager who has the same problem and never once see his result pass from the test. After my advise and taken for 3 or 4 weeks on daily basics last week result out shine my report.

Those with high cholesterol please try but please check with your doctors advise. I tried after reading from the net on the benefits. One important thing I was on medication too for cholesterol (Lovastatin). My managers report was the thing which confirm of ACV coz he never see a better result in all his testing.

Thanks

the recipe is as follows:

2 cups of black grape juice
1 cup Apple Juice
1/2 cup ACV

mix, chill and drink 1/2 to 1 cup before your largest meal every day.

best to use concordia grapes they have the best tanin level. a good apple juice not consentrate gives fibre and the ACV. (dont use shop bought ACV for salads). unable to find a good local supplier i used ACV from a equine supplier fit for human consumption
my benifits are reduced weight, more energy, reduced lathergy and finding i also dont have 3AM hot sweats no more, just waiting for a blood test results for my cholestrol fingers crossed. Hopeful male"

this is a very bad thing; now my sister is not sure she should take it and she is now lipitor or something else for her cholesterol - and she is only 28. i can't believe that doctors don't do research. this is the same sister that has had many immune system problems and even had the lymph nodes under her arms removed. it seems to me that the doctors would be looking for less toxic aproaches to treating things like this but suprisingly her doctor is not.....

Eight weeks ago i was rushed to the hospital for chest pains and my blood pressure was up due to the anxiety created from the chest pains. After 2 days of testing in the hospital it was concluded that my cholesterol was borderline high. My Total Cholesterol was 239. I was told to take aspirin and given a prescription for some other popular medication, neither of which i took. I came across your site doing some research on natural remedies and now I am truly amazed at how ACV has working for me in only 7 weeks. My cholesterol came down from 239 to 175. I started taking 2Tbs mixed with either cranberry or grape juice in the morning and the same at night. The juice helps with the bitter taste of the Vinegar. I have had very little change in my diet, except for the fact that i no longer eat eggs! I have, however increased my activity to working out at least 3x's week. I am going to carefully watch my cholesterol and continue to drink the ACV and go back to my doctor in 2 months for another test. "

[NAY]  08/26/2007: Derrick from Atlanta, GA writes: "First, thanks for the website. I, sadly, have NOT found that ACV lowered my cholesterol. In fact, my LDL and overall Levels are actually UP (slightly) since my last blood test. However, (and this is a big however) something else odd happened in the 9 weeks I have been taking ACV (dosage: one mouthful each morning). After almost a year of no change in my Triglycerides, they dropped a whopping 32% since my last blood test. There simply IS no other explanation other than the ACV - none. The only "possible" reason for this - is that in the last 2 weeks I started a low GI diet. Even then, 2 weeks of not eating watermelon is hardly a reasonable explanation for a 32% drop in blood fat (triglycerides), and often what is good in the low GI - is blacklisted on a Triglyceride diet - such as apples, oranges, peaches etc....all of which I have been consuming recently in carnivorous fashion. For the record; Everyone needs to keep in mind that 80% of your Cholesterol is produced by your body...but Triglycerides are nearly 100% dietary and exercise related."

'I'm a 46 y/o black man with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I'm currently taking plendil for high blood pressure. About a month ago I had my cholesterol checked and it was 282. My LDL is 199. I looked at your website today and immediately went to the store to get some grape juice, honey and ACV. In about 30 minutes of drinking this recipe I started felling better. My head is clear and I got a little pep in my step. I'm going to continue taking this remedy and have my cholesterol checked in a month. I know it's going to be better. God makes the simplest things to fix our big problems."

[YEA]  11/27/2006: Jennifer from New York writes: "I ran across this site recently. I've been looking for natural ways to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure without having to take a lot of pills every day. It never occurred to me that my fathers remedy to cure his children's illnesses would also prevent high blood pressure. My father drank 12 ounce mug of honey and apple cider vinegar in hot water every day for as long as I can remember. His cholesterol levels and blood pressure was never high. It was always normal. He did pass away several years ago due to a heart attack. However, this was not brought on by cholesterol or blood pressure. This was due to pneumonia, which he got every year for about 15 years. Still today, when I've feeling slightly ill, I make myself a cup of honey and vinegar. I made this for an ex about 3-4 years ago. He couldn't believe how much better he felt within 45 minutes after drinking honey and acv. He didn't believe me that it would work. He was amazed."

This is truly God's gift to mankind. You will never need another pill, ever. By the way, the gout was caused by taking the pills prescribed by my doctor. (rosuvastatin 10 mg ). It's such a pleasure to be able to pass on such good news. God bless you all."

[YEA]  06/23/2006: John from Woodhaven, NY writes: "I was told by my doctor that my cholesterol was high (240). He put me on medication (lipitor.) I tried the medication for a couple of weeks but began to feel pain in my muscles, it felt like getting acupuncture, like if someone was inserting needles into my muscles. I called the doctor right away and he told me to stop taking the medication, he told me to try to diet and exercise. I did a little research and found info on apple cider vinegar . I also bought flax seed oil, fish oil, ester "C"and garlic supplements @ a local health food store i tried all of this for a couple of months along with exercise such as riding my bike. I recently did another blood test and found out from my doctor that my cholesterol was back to normal ranges! i was also suffering from acid reflux, which is also gone. I used to get pain in my chest which was from the acid reflux I used to think I was having a heart attack but it was the acid reflux which is also gone. the apple cider vinegar sure does work."

Found out about this site when i was looking for natural alternatives to lower my cholesterol, i was on Lescol Xl-80mg, but it was damaging my liver, so they put me on Zeta 10mg, but that only knocks the numbers down by around 30 points. My problem is that my cholesterol was well into the 300's, so i followed directions found within these forums, went on a diet and added apple cider vinegar to my routine. There were so many versions of how and when to take it, so i take 2 tablespoons in water 2x daily. After having only taken it for a little over a week i went back to the doctor for blood work and my cholesterol was at that reading 185, i'm sure its even lower now!One thing i would like to point out is that i take the organic vinegar, which has "not" been heated with the "mother" intact, also because of acid/teeth issues, i drink it through a straw and rinse my mouth with baking soda water before and after. So i really thank God for this site or i would NEVER have known about the miracle that is apple cider vinegar! Now, i'm off to find a remedy for the damage the Lescol XL 80mg did to my liver, but i am confident i'm gonna find it here!"

We use several capsules each day as my husband is on several meds they say he can not live without but they do some damage to his liver. Now we have found no damage since taking the milk thistle. (spelling???)"

Anyways, I've had high cholesterol for at least 10 years. Once, it was recorded as high as 350. Other times it's been 250 or 230... Anyways, I was put on Simbastatin.

I started waking up in the middle of the night feeling out of breath. My first few breaths would hurt my chest until my lungs became re-inflated. Finally, I put two and two together, and realized it was the Statin. so.... My blood test came in at 207, which is great for me..... 145ldl, 39hdl, 93 trig. BUT, breathing is a priority for me right now.

So, I told my doctor I'm not taking the drugs anymore. I now realize my hair loss, memory loss, etc.... could all be results of the statins I've been taking for nearly 5 years.

I'm going to try this ACV, and red rice yeast, and Lecithin...... and see what happens.

Wish me luck."
