Bursitis Cures

"Bursitis is the inflammation of one or more bursae, or small sacs of synovial fluid, in the body. Bursae rest at the points where internal functionaries, like muscles and tendons, slide across bone. Healthy bursae create a smooth and almost frictionless gliding surface. With hundreds of them throughout the body they provide this surface for all motion, making movement normally painless. When bursitis takes hold, however, movement that relies on the inflamed bursa becomes rough and painful. Movement of tendons and muscles over the inflamed bursa causes it to become more inflamed, perpetuating the problem.

Bursitis is commonly caused by repetition of movement or excessive pressure. Elbows and knees are the most commonly affected because they are rested upon more than many parts of the body with bursae and they also get the most repetitive use. Inflammation of bursae can also be caused by other inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Scoliosis can also be a cause of bursitis of the shoulders although this is rare. Shoulder bursitis is more commonly due to overuse of the shoulder joint and muscles." (Wikipedia)

Every doctor said the same thing: vicodin for the pain, advil for the inflammation, and prescription muscle relaxers for the accompanying muscle cramps, and several rounds of physical therapy. I certainly couldn't function on the medications, and only seemed to get temporarily, mildly better. I stumbled suddenly had a craving for sauerkraut, if you can believe it, and borscht and homemade salad dressings-all foods that I usually don't like. I am not exaggerating when I say I slept my first night pain free, and started doing the vinegar and honey concoction and simply can't believe I feel so good, so fast! I did increase my water intact, too, to aid in cleansing my body of whatever it had, too. I just used Heinz and Sue Bee and all that pain from mid-back to knees are gone. I even did yoga today which I love but was told it was irritating the bursas-"try swimming." How can I swim while taking vicodin and muscle relaxers?!?!?"



03/11/2009: Michael from Munster, In replies: "I have what a Doctor described as Bursitis in my right hip. When standing, I can do a shallow knee bend and hear my hip making a clicking sound. I can also lie on my back postrate and bring my right leg up toward my chest by bending at the knee and hear the same clicking sound when extending my leg streight ou again. Oh yes, I also ache in that area all the time.

Here is my queston to anyone who can help me. I like the ideas of home remedies but which one should I use but, even more important than that...what are the doses and amount perscribed? None of the remedies mention list any amount, doses or frequencies of applying the remedy.

I take it for joint pain, and if I have an acid stomach- or feel bloated--yes, acid on acid nutrilizes. Also, to get to sleep I drink a cup about a 1/2 before bed and read a good book. I don't think you need to have the honey, unless you want it sweet or for a sore throat,or chest congestion- add lemon juice and honey. I take 2 TBSPS in in 8 to 12 oz of hot water and sip slowly-for best results. God Bless"

Orth doctor said at this time, there is no need for surgery. He recommended I take 500mg of calcium a day to help heal the knee and help the bones. This got me very down because I am very active. I was not going to wait around so a friend in Ca. said how BSM was good for tons of things. I found Earth Clinic and I referred to it several times. I LOVE to research and research. Living in Louisiana, we have many sugar cane mills. I found thru friends a gallon of BSM from the mill. And OH YES.....it is nasty. BUT, every morning I take a Tablespoon right down....no time to play with mixing it in anything. I have been taking BSM for 3 weeks now. This I have noticed and right away. Although active, I was tired everyday......everyday. I ate right but was still tired....NOT ANYMORE......trust me on this one.....I saw the surgeron last week and he commented on how the leg was easy to move and how I was coming along so well. He commented on how I was very up beat and was even losing weight....for some reason I am not hungry all the time. I need to lose some weight to help the knees and I feel that the BSM has come to my rescue....We all know that it takes time for many remedies or meds. to help in various health issues. [YEA]  06/23/2008: Richard from Winston Salem, North Carolina writes: "cayenne pepper rememdies: cayenne pepper foot baths will completely cure bad feet, although if you continue to work on hard floors the cure might need to be repeated every so often. also, cayenne pepper does wonders on hemorrhoids when mixed with an otc ointment (not vaseline). go very light on this one and be ready to wash it off yourself if you cant stand the burning. i've also tried cayenne pepper in a vaseline salve that i made on the cookstove that completely cured the bursitis in my shoulder."

I'm 36 yrs old and for 3 yrs I have bursitis on the should area and pain in my wrist. I decided after reading on earthclinic to give VCO a try. In one week I noticed the pain went away and I have more energy. It really really WORKS!

This stuff literally can work in an instant, long term...I don't know the effects, but then, we all KNOW that Motrin affects the liver directly too.
So, I woke up this AM with shooting electrical pain in my left shoulder again, just wanted to go right back to sleep, couldn't hold it straight without weakness and shooting pains, feels like something is pinched or going wrong.

Swipe some of this DMSO clear liquid on my shoulder muscles, and poof! the sensations went away until right now and it is almost 18 hours later!

Now, what shall get rid of the pain in my hand and finger joints? I am awake tonight because of the intense pains in them, so I am on the internet here reading more about ACV and honey to relieve this, I had a good friend tell me about it years ago, before I needed to use it. Good skin and no pain in the old guys I worked with who all tried it one month on a dare...me being young, stored the info away in my brain....for the future. And my auntie, she told me her momma had poured it in drinking water of the hired milkers who they had working in their dairy. Problem is that she thought her mother was being mean in fact her mother was helping them to produce more work/milk in their cows."

[YEA]  05/12/2007: Denis from Luo Dong Township, Taiwan writes: "Some years ago I had a hair mineral analysis done. In general, the profile of minerals was on the low end of the normal range. However, copper was only about 85% of the minimum considered normal and manganese was only about 50%. I have severe food allergies and apparently the inflammation is interfering with normal mineral absorption. I have always been athletic and have more or less kept up a regular schedule of aerobic exercise for the last 38 years or so. One type of exercise I have had trouble doing is dips. Beginning in my late teens, whenever I started doing dips, I would get severe bursitis and have to quit. It was not until I was in my late forties that I had this hair mineral analysis done. I went to a local chemical shop and bought the purest form (high quality lab chemicals manufactured in Japan) of Manganese Chloride I could find. I began taking small quantities, only a few tiny crystals a day. Before long, for the first time in my life, I was able to do dips without getting bursitis. Now, caution is warranted. I knew I was low in manganese. However, it is a trace mineral, and too much can cause nervous system damage. After several years, I more or less forgot about it and my shoulder joints starting getting weak again. Two falls on two separate occasions resulted in dislocating both of my shoulders within the last year. Now, I am taking a little more, about 90 mg a day in order to strengthen my shoulder joints. I also have a very weak liver, and I suspect that manganese deficiency is a big part of this as well. If you want to try manganese chloride, first make sure you have a deficiency and then, take no more than 50 mg a day of the pure manganese, i.e. you must figure the weight of the choride and water molecules attached."

MASSAGE

I have severe pain in my right arm. It began in the middle of the arm, feeling as if it was where the muscle or ligament attaches to the arm. It felt as if suddenly that was torn. The pain also appeared in the shoulder joint. It appeared suddenly, without any apparent reason. Pressure on the spot seemed to help. Also using therapies such as gentle touch.

However it began to spread. It felt as if different muscle areas would bunch up and become hard and painful. The pain would occur if moving the arm in one specific way or another, frequently associated with twisting the arm. For example, I could not reach behind my back to pull up my pants.

I discovered if I deeply massage the hardened area, it relieves the pain. It feels as if there might be fluid in the cells or the area which somehow gets massaged out, and then the muscle cells relax and pain goes away...at least for a while. Flexibility is then restored, at least for a while. It does not feel exactly like a cramp, though I suppose that is possible. However, it seems to me that the relaxed muscle or ligament or whatever areas then begin to atrophy, although I don't know if that is due to probable less use.

Range of motion is limited: I cannot raise that arm straight up in the air.

I have been to the doctor, who sent me for xrays to see if the ligament is lifting from the bones. But I don't think it's just ligaments, because of the hardened areas that are larger sections of muscle tissue, and because deep massage to the painful portion removes the hardness and restores flexibility.

If I slide the fingers of my left hand over the affected area of my upper right arm, I can feel the muscles lumped up and hard. Again, though: massage removes the hardness and restores flexibility. The pain is definitely associated with the hardened muscle or ligament or attachment.

However, the pain is sudden and excrutiating when moving in a suddenly "wrong" direction.

Also the problem is spreading, though still confined to the right arm. Plus I can feel the ligaments or whatever getting caught on the bone at the shoulder joint.

When this began to be an obvious problem, drinking 2 teaspoons of soda in juice of four lemons, allowed to foam, then added to 20 ounces of water, seemed to be helping. It actually tasted good. I drank it once a day.

I stopped because the price of lemons skyrocketed and while it seemed to temporarily help and maybe be actually getting better, it seemed maybe I needed to take even more.

Or that it wasn't really curing it, just slowing it down. Also I was about to have to go to the doctor, so I became discouraged and stopped the remedy.

The range of motion is greatly improved over what it was, mostly seeming as a result of deep massage. However, the problem is spreading to more of the arm. Also I've noticed that if I relax my arm at my side while sleeping on my back, there will be a painful accumulation of fluid in places like immediately next to the outside of the bone in the elbow joint. This pain can be removed by deeply and carefully massaging the affected area, which seems to remove the fluid along with the pain, and then movement is no longer painful, and so flexibility is restored to wherever the pain was.

It's difficult to research this because I have no idea what it really is, though bursitis sounded like a possibility.

I am going to try the lemon/soda "cure" again, using even more lemons and soda, to see if that helps. If not, I am going to try some of the remedies for bursitis listed here.

If anyone has had a similar problem, or has ideas as to what might be causing this or what might help it, I'd be interested in hearing.

I continued spraying DMSO once a day on the affected areas and the muscles began more and more to stop bunching up in painful lumps, range of motion began to largely increase..a lot... and pain in general began to disappear. However, it seems there were still areas that would suddenly attack with horrible pain should I move my arm in the wrong position.

BUT those places seemed to be getting less and less, the muscles were returning to a more normal feeling when I move my hand over them, and the range of motion definitely was increasing.

Yesterday I missed spraying the DMSO. I had wondered if perhaps the problem was resolving itself naturally and I only thought the DMSO was helping.

This morning the problem has definitely worsened, so apparently the DMSO was helping to resolve it. I am going to resume using DMSO until the problem goes away. I may try other things, like the milk of magnesia, because this problem is not the result of a DMSO deficiency, but for now I will use the DMSO, plus the apple cider vinegar, and lemon soda.

I really appreciate this site. While my experience is probably different than someone else's, it helps to see what results other people get, so I can make intelligent decisions regarding taking care of me.

Even though I still go to the doctor, here I am having gone but for results I find I must do my own research along with seeing doctors. It gets me that I am forced to spend a lot oof money monthly for "insurance" and then, after paying that and going to see the doctor, I go here and other places to find out what really works, carefully try it, and so cure myself. I spend zero a month here. Hmmmmm......

This is not to insult my doctor. He actually listens. He also discovered that giving up processed foods helped him lose weight and get off blood pressure medications, and he had wanted me to use the machines for breathing to bring down blood pressure. I had wanted to use them before he suggested it, but never could afford them, so this site then connected me to the place that sells the exercises without the machines, which worked for me and others I got it for.

So this is a great site. As adults we need and have a right to discuss our experiences, so thanks for being here."

[YEA]  12/21/2008: Isabel from Tampa, Fl USA writes: "Milk of magnesium cured my bursitis, I had suffered from it for many years, sometimes I saw a Doctor 6 times a year, he told me that I had migratory bursitis, one time I went to the hospital for bursitis on my shoulder, luckily after 3 days the calcium dissolved, my italian neighbor told me that she can't believe I would go to so much trouble knowing that I can get relief taking milk of magnesium.

I used it and within 24 hours I was cured 90%. this was about 20 years ago and it has work for me and my friends, usually when I have bursitis immediately I take a tablespoon of milk of magnesium (I don't care that it will upset my stomach) and 1 teaspoon before I go to bed then for the next 3 days I take on teaspoon in the morning and another before I go to bed,after that I am 100% cured, this year I had to take it 3 times and always works, the only time that I have to go and see a Dr. was when I had the bursitis in my hips (2 times) mybe if I had waited long enough would had work but after a week of pain I had no choice.

One time I was on vacation and I had a bad sunburn since I only had milk of magnesium I used on my back and I was able to sleep.

Of course you must check your trace elements and try to rebalance them (that is the key for all health issues). Apart from this, what I did that made it disappear in one year's time was:

1. accupuncture 2. chinese phytotherapy (plant extracts under the name of Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang) and 3. chiropractor sessions to straighten my back and shoulder massages (rather painful actually, but a few seconds per session is a small price to pay for the benefits)."

After each meal take a handfull of pecans (enough to cover your palm) and eat them along with a B6 phospate. I couldn't do this since I HATE all nuts, so I began by grinding them up, but then found you can buy them already ground. I take two tablespoonsful in a small amound of water, along with a bit of grapefruit juice (doesn't taste so bad this way), along with the B6 phospate after each meal. It took about a month before I started to see results, but it worked! Bursitis in my hip is gone and I only do the treatment now about once a day. I've added in ACV and I'm sure that will keep it away."
