[YEA] Deborah from San Francisco, CA: "I have been taking Ephedra for 8 months now and find it the best remedy so far. I am considered a servere chronic asthmatic and have only had to use the inhaler about two times a week now. The secret is to only use the amount you need and not more. I feel it has been made illegal in the United States because if more people used this herb which has been used in Chinese herbs for 2000 years, the pharmaceutical companies would lose a lot of business. Peace and love and prayers every day for all asthmatics."Replies
[YEA] 03/02/2009: Mary from Kansas City, Missouri replies: "i also have tried ephedra when i could get it and i have to agree that it kept my airways open. where can you get it now?"
[YEA] 07/03/2010: Shana from Miami, Florida, Usa: "I suffered for years with asthma, made worse by cold wet weather. It was one of the reasons I moved to a warmer climate. Inhalers and other medications did not really work. It felt like a giant hand would just squeeze the air out of my lungs. Once I was at a lecture with a friend and he said people thought I was making fun of the speaker, when actually it was my wheezing! Both of my parents smoked, and I think I was dealing with COPD from the time I was five or six. I can remember hiding in closets as a small child so people wouldn't hear me wheeze and clear my lungs. I don't smoke, never have.
I researched for natural cures and found fish oil. I started taking it and the wheezing went away. My lungs feel pliant and able to open up. Wet and cold weather do not affect me anymore. I can breathe! When I don't take the fish oil, the wheezing comes back, so I'm convinced that what is what works for me.
The recommended amount I read is one teaspoon for every 50 lbs. of weight. That's what I take. I usually will take a liquid form, but sometimes pills, so I will take about three or so of those. My body lets me know how much works. I take the fish oil in the morning. I also take flax oil at night, one or two tablespoons. But when I only take flax oil, the wheezing comes back. It has to be fish oil (sorry vegetarians, I don't know any other answers for you).
In the winter I take cod liver oil, in the summer just regular fish oil. Both work as well, but the cod liver oil has vitamin D, which I feel I get enough of in the summer.
So I believe for me, the answer is that I need the omega 3 fatty acids for normal lung function.
The taste can be unpleasant, but there are flavored forms and then of course the pills, though they tend to be rather large.
Another bonus is that I notice my vision is much clearer when I faithfully take fish oil, particularly the cod liver oil. The owner of one of the vitamin stores I go to says that the elderly customers who have taken cod liver oil their entire lives often have 20/20 vision. I believe it.
I hope this can help someone and I'm really glad I found this site. I'm trying a few of the suggestions here and will post in a while when I see (or don't see) results."
07/04/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "I am really confused about the fish oil or cod liver oil. Once we read that it is a great supplement and it is true that people used to take a lot of these oils, then one reads that this is not true at all and that they can be quite harmful..... I would like to know the answer also because the fact that they might make you see better would be very important for me as a very myopic person!"
10/01/2010: Analoggal from Rancho Cordova, Ca replies: "Hi Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France
If you are taking a vitamin and getting sunshine, then taking cod liver oil would be doubling your daily dose of those vitamins, which can lead to toxicity! Fish oil is safer because it does not contain vit D or Vit A. With either cod liver oil or fish oil, you want to make sure you buy a quality product, in other words don't buy cheap. Reason being is that with those oils, buying cheap means they could possibly have high levels of mercury.... You definitely don't want that! So, which oil you choose all will depend on if your taking a vitamin and getting sunshine. Just make sure it's good quality. Vit A in general helps vision, so getting that from a vitamin or cod liver oil is good, as long as you are not taking both! I get Carlson's brand oil, but I don't know if they sell it in your country. Hope this helps, good luck. :)"
[YEA] Shirley from Michigan: "I take 2 tablespoons daily of a pure fish oil and my asthma stays away. Fish oil reduces inflammation."
12/26/2012: Dee from Melbourne, Australia: "Hi everyone. Can I give my 7 year old daughter one teaspoon of ACV with raw honey and two teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil everyday for her asthma.. Don't want to give her rediperd or preventer( steriod inhaler).. Or any other suggestions?? Please advice.. Will be very thankful."
[YEA] 10/11/2011: Susan from New York City, New York: "Try inhaled Glutathione (you will need to get a prescription from a holistic doctor). It works wonders for all sorts of severe breathing problems! Please ask about this miraculous supplement from a knowledgable holistic doctor - you will need to get it from a compounding pharmacy. I know MSM works well for breathing troubles, too, so that is something to look into as well."
[YEA] 01/28/2007: Susan from Kingston, Jamaica: "I had to write this because, by accident I found that green tea, made my breathing better. I took some oolong tea(type of green tea)for helping with weightloss and I noticed that after I had it my breathing was better. I don't know why it helps but the truth is as soon as I drink it I feel better. I have mild athsma, and this may not help all cases, but it will not hurt to try it."Replies
09/20/2009: Kat from San Diego, Ca replies: "I just wanted to respond to the post that says oolong tea is a type of green tea because oolong tea is NOT a type of green tea. Green tea is unfermented tea leaves, black tea is fermented tea leaves, and oolong is in between the two, being semi fermented. (Oolong also has a caffiene amount that is halfway between that of green and black tea). For a reference, try looking it up on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oolong_tea
It may be that is is helping your symptoms because of the caffeine content. But who knows, oolong tea is supposed to be good for you in all kinds of ways. But motivated people may want try comparing its asthma relieving effects to coffee or black tea. If it is less effective than those then it's probably the caffeine that's having the effect."
[YEA] Nadine from NY: "i drink green tea for my asthma. i found this out by accident. a friend of mine gave me some spaghetti sauce and i had a reaction to it. my throat started to close up pn me and i was already having trouble breathing from my asthma and i didnt have my inhaler prescription filled. well i had some green tea made up that i was trying for the first time because everyone was saying green tea is good for you so i thought i'd try it. well i drank the tea and went into the other room to sit and try to breath and relax. i was in there a little while when i realized i was breathing well better than i had before i ate the spaghetti sauce so i was a science major at the time in college so i thought i'll just experiment and see if this is real so i went back out and ate some more spaghetti sauce. immediately my throat started to close up on me i drank some more tea and in a very short time i could breathe and my throat no longer closed up on me. ive been drinking the green tea for my asthma ever since. it works faster than provental for me and i very rarely ever use an inhaler. my doctor asked me what i was using to treat my asthma as i hadn't gotten prevental in a year and i told him green tea. you can imagine the reaction i got! LOL. well he said maybe all the water youve been drinking cut it for you. lol. i drink it every day for my asthma, especially if i'm having a hard time breathing. it won't cure your asthma but it will help."
H2O2 Inhalation Therapy
[SIDE EFFECTS] 02/28/2013: Ja from Philadelphia, Pa: "H2OH Inhalation for Asthma: The first time I tried the h2oh in my neb, I didnt have the unstabilized kind, but was desperate and used one with a stabilizer. It worked instantly. I went and food the arron brands and started using that. Since then, Every time I try to start the treatment I get really really bad reactions. My asthma gets worse than ever, my heart rate goes crazy going from 40-100 bpm at random, and one one very bad night it was racing and then stopping for about 4 beats. At first I thought the asthma attack were coinciding with my efforts, but after trying so many times, I think it is a result. I have always had some sort of allergy to mold but was never diagnosed by a doctor. I was traveling in Boston at the age of twenty when the first bad attack happened and went to the er around there. They x-rayed my lungs and said there were no signs of asthma but thats the diagnosis because my symptoms point that way. Suddenly getting asthma at the age of twenty seemed like a joke to me!! Isnt that what a 20 year old girl dreams of? I imagined wearing an inhaler on a neclace. Since these reactions, I am wondering if I have some sort of fungus or virus in my lungs, and they are reacting spitefully to the threat of thier environment the excess oxygen is bringing? I did cough up a lot of mucus and some bloody mucus or clots.
Every time I try the treatment I end up having to get an rx for prednisone because I can't take how bad the asthma is. I get really erratic and upset, maybe the lack of oxygen? I also get a chemical smell when my asthma is at its worse. I thought it was my car, but I get whiffs of it everywhere and no one else can smell it. The only chemical I use is mouse in the roots of my hair, don't even use body wash (got a three year skin allergic reaction, not taking that chance again), homemade pure laundry detergent, etc.
Any ideas of how I can safely use the h20h, what the smell is, and if my asthma is really some sort of infection? It has been five years now, the only time I did not have asthma was when I was pregnant and breastfeeding."Replies
03/01/2013: Mmsg from Somewhere, Europe replies: "Ja, try: 1. Using food grade h2o2. 2. Try diluting it a LOT. For example try ONE drop in distilled water for a start."
03/02/2013: Timh from Louisville, Ky replies: "Ja: Dido on Mmsg recommendation.
Is the chem odor you smell something like Ammonia???; this happened to me using nebulized Colloidal Silver, but I am thankfully over that now.
First, try greatly improving the air quality in your home. HEPA filters and Negative Ion Generators should help.
There are a number of herbal supplements specifically formulated to improve lung function, worth trying. Swanson Foods sells a very old Chinese formula containing many herbs that have helped many folks, a really superior product worth trying (I think it's labeled "Lung Essentials").
Try boosting your natural defenses with Wheat Sprouts.
Please update us how your doing."
05/15/2013: Ja from Philadelphia, Pa replies: "Hi, I have not tried the h202 inhalation again since I wrote in. I drink it on occasion but would like to wait until I get it under control without any major hiccups before trying again. The last thing I want is to have to turn to a large dose of steroid again as I've read too often this is retroactive in the healing of the lungs and for asthma. It is like an ammonia smell but I have never had the colloidal silver. Thank you for the suggestion... I started drinking the asthma tea, a few brands make it. I stopped cold turkey: the fast acting, my daily steroid inhalent (which was perscribed 4x the normal dosage) and the nebulizer. I started eating lots of garlic, onions, baking soda, avc, kelp extract, fish oil, 3000 mg of vit c as antihistamine, and a sickening amount of other vitamins. I for the most part stay away from all sugars and carbs unless they are dark green veggies. The asthma has never been better. It is not perfect but this is my own fault as I am not consistent with taing the vitamins every night and I am not consistent with quitting smoking. Just read about this flax oil mucilage made at home that is supposed to be wonderful for mucous and lungs... But has a heavy detox effect as it supposedly rids the body of the viruses that hide in the spinal cord until the immune is supressed... it will be interesting if I get the same side effects."
[YEA] 03/09/2012: Jim from Sun City Center, Fl: "Have been remiss and never said thanks to Bill. I had chronic asthma, using 2 different inhalers from VA, 3 snorts am and pm. Started inhaling peroxide about 5 years ago, initially had some throat irritation. Stopped for a week and restarted at half strength. Figured it was coating on back of my throat from years of inhaling. Did 50% for a week and then full strength. Still have my 3 refills from VA in linen closet as a reminder. On a recent visit annual vist to VA I got a new female MD, She almost had a cow when I told her how I cured asthma, in so many words she said "impossible and insisted that I take a rescue inhaler which I returned unopened when they arrived.
My wife of 55 years has had a chronic minor cough, which may have been a throw back to when she smoked. She had heart problems 7 years ago and quit. A few months ago I got her started on using a small inhaler and keeping it on a table next to her TV chair. The cough is now non existent. My sincere thanks Bill and I know the good Lord has blessed you for your efforts. Jim"
[YEA] 01/18/2012: "WoW WoW WoW!!!!!! I would like to take the time and thank bill and earth clinic for fghp it help to heal my asthma which I suffered 32 years!! Yes!! I called bill munro- he is very nice and told me not to use the nebulizer just the spray pump I went and bought it two days ago and this is the first night after 32 years I slept 7h one shot, no medications needed! So thanks I hope this will last. I don't take any supplements I eat my diet reg. Food and all ok if you need further

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 01/14/2012: Sweetberry from Ny: "Started out fghp 3 percent last sunday. It killed me till now- the mucus was together and came up very good and controlled. Now it became runny and sitting in my lung and maxair and nebulizer will not help. Help- what went wrong? [YEA] 04/09/2009: Susan from Inland Empire, Ca: "My 10yr old son who wheezes with breathing in cold air had an attack and seemed to worsen as the day progressed. Labored breathing with wheezing sounds, scary. I already had a nebulizer machine in the house from years past using albuterol mixtures. I placed about 1/3 cup of water in a separate container and one drop of 35% food grade H202. Stirred it and then filled to capacity the nebulizer holding cup. After about 20 minutes he seemed to breath alot easier but not 100% to normal. He slept for an hour then was able to get up and guess what? No heavy breathing! A little wheezing but not as much as before. I was hesitant to try the H2O2 as so many precautions and warnings. I'm glad I only put one drop into a separate container with more water. One drop in the nebulizer cup (about 2 tablespoons capacity) would have been way too much."
[YEA] 04/16/2008: Marci from Wilmington, NC: "I was desperate to find something other than my rescue inhalers (7-8x/day), steriods, Adviar, Singulair, Albuterol nebulizer and whatever else I've tried throughout the 11 years since I was diagnosed with severe asthma and allergies.
I recently quit my job because my attacks had gotten so bad, I couldn't function. No health insurance, no money, I had to rely on friends' prescriptions, samples and $4 drugs from Walmart.
I found this just yesterday and tried the HP therapy in my nebulizer. INSTANLY no more wheezing - no more coughing! I was sure I had gone nuts. I got my first solid night's sleep in ages! I woke up this morning feeling better than I had in years. I will do it again every 2 hours and see how I am tomorrow, but this is so encouraging.
Thank you so much for this site. I will read everything I can find. I hope it lasts."Replies
[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 01/11/2010: Coleyearth from Marysville, Wa, Usa replies: "I have had a good experience with h202. I inhale it when I feel tightness in my chest and instantly feel improvement. However, the first symptom I experience is feeling fog headed. I difficulty finding words in conversation. This bothers me more than anything is this a symptom of asthma. I don't have attacks, I have wheezing and congestion at times."
[YEA] 01/17/2008: KR from Rancho Cucamonga, CA: "Where do I begin to describe my journey into the ails of pulmonary distress? It all started years ago when my now 6-year old was a toddler at 2 and diagnosed with asthma. For close to five years she has been through all kinds of drugs, just treating the symptoms of her debilitating disease. She had it all, wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing with enormous amounts of phlegm lodged and trapped in her lungs. Before we had our nebulizer and the knowledge of how to use it, we would rush her to ER where they'd give her a breathing treatment (albuterol) and another 5-day dosage of steroid to eliminate her symptoms, which, nonetheless, still wouldn't completely dissipate. It has been an ongoing, horrific battle from the beginning. Who knows how she even got this disease as she was breastfed from birth to two whole years and genetically, asthma is not on my side of the family nor my husband's!
Our next bout with pulmonary issues presented with our 8-year old who, just last year, had pneumonia in both lungs and has had ongoing issues with sinusitis and dry cough in the winter.
The final blow came with our 2-year old, who for close to 4 months was getting what they first diagnosed as bronchiolitis, then the next month, bronchitis, then back to bronchiolitis and back and forth, back and forth, never being cured and certainly not even relieved from this horrible outcome for much longer than a week at a time. The doctor just kept prescribing more antibiotics and different ones every time only to have it return worse and more ferocious than the previous attacks. Her cough was so powerful it would make the capillaries in her face burst and she couldn't hold down much, due to the force of her coughing and inevitably, suffered cough-induced vomiting (or was it the drugs or the infection, who knows?). That on top of fever often reaching as high as 103.5 and consistent reoccurrence of her sicknesses, just pushed me over the edge. My child's doctor was now telling me they didn't think it was bacterial, but rather viral since the infection didn't respond long term to the antibiotics and kept coming back. The doctor then informed me that if it was something viral, there was nothing they could do and she'd have to wait it out or possibly, could suffer for the rest of her life! Now do you think a mother and lover of her offspring is going to sit back and listen to dooms day regarding the very apple of her eye? There was not another moment to waste with the medical community so I got to work researching every extra moment I could find to get to the bottom of something natural to deliver us all from everything, including the asthma and sinusitis. I came across some natural but costly remedies for asthma that I wouldn't be able to try unless I made the initial investment which I knew we couldn't do so I kept looking...
Low and behold, I finally found it here on Earth Clinic. I intuitively knew it was the answer but was scared out of my mind to use it because there's not much info on how to apply it to children directly on this site or any other which is unfortunate because I believe the majority of asthma sufferers are children and the number one killer of children worldwide is pneumonia! Therefore, from my now new knowledge, it makes sense that the Munro HP Inhalation method is THE number one remedy for all such lung sickness (asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, etc.). I prayed and asked God to direct my paths as I knew I was embarking on something extraordinary but unknown and unfamiliar to me. In complete and utter desperation for a remedy to relieve my children, I pulled out my Walmart brand 3% hydrogen peroxide from Aaron Industries, diluted it 1 part HP to 3 parts purified water (bottled water) and poured from that solution the little amount needed into the nebulizer capsule. During a violent cough attack, I began with my baby who breathed very little and INSTANTANEOUSLY, her cough disappeared as if she never had it to begin with. I then began giving her regular and daily treatments (2-4 per day and as much as she'd breath in one hit which often wasn't a lot because she wouldn't tolerate it for too long) of this same solution and very quickly noticed her lungs being cleared and no fever flair ups. After approximately one week, she was miraculously cured of that blasted virus that wouldn't let go!!! I took her back to the doctor for her follow-up shortly thereafter, and the doctor checked her lungs with her stethoscope. The doc dropped her jaw to the floor because I don't believe she even thought my baby would have bounced back so soon. I then informed her that I had found a natural remedy that I wouldn't share with her since it's so outside of her box. She concurred and stated she did not want to know what it was but on the flipside, she encouraged me to continue it because it actually works! I then gently "fired" her because she wanted to prescribe my baby on a daily regiment of steroids in the form of Pulmicort Respules using the nebulizer which I had already been there and done that with her sister for all these years. I apprised this doc that I, mom, would now not only be handling my childrens' infections but their asthma care as well (how empowering is that?!). Simultaneously, I began these same treatments for my asthmatic 6-year old because she was experiencing continual dry cough that previously would take many days and drugs to see any relief from. Again, INSTANTANEOUSLY, her cough dissipated and she'd go straight back to bed, able to sleep through the rest of the entire night without further disturbance. This was unheard of for all the years that we have suffered with her; we've endured many sleepless and restless nights. Now, whenever she coughs at night from her asthma, she gets what we dubbed 'natural nebulizer' and she really raves about it, no more racing heart and shakes from the after-effects of albuterol. For my 8-year old, the natural nebulizer initially helped her cough out some mucous but I prescribed her some ACV (regular, store-bought) in her juice every day and a lot of tea with honey which seemed to help her situation with sinusitis out even more. In a couple of weeks, she also was completely cleaned and cleared up.
For me personally, I started my menstrual cycle and began to experience my usual, incredibly painful headache. I wouldn't say a migraine but something close to it. I thought, why not, it'd be better than popping another pill (acetaminophen) with the potential of vomiting as has occurred to me in the past. I began our natural nebulizer treatments but upped the HP dosage a bit for myself and viola, my headaches disappeared instantaneously too and the treatments really made my heavy, achy body feel light and unloaded again. I began every two hours for up to two days and then experienced what I think could have been a cleansing but I'm not sure. I don't know if it was a cleansing because I normally get severe diarrhea at the onset of my menstruation. All I know is my stomach cramped up really bad and I could feel something fighting in there. The stool I passed would most certainly have been diarrhea as always in the past, but actually came out solid, though still soft. It was simply unbelievable! I felt 100% after that until later that night when my whole body ached and that nasty headache came firing back. I snuck downstairs so as not to awake my husband and took a natural nebulizer treatment which drove away the headache and enabled me to sleep through the rest of the night like a baby. The aches in my body left along with the headache and I was convinced that HP and I will never be apart again! There's a new one (remedy) for PMS. Currently, I only use these natural nebulizer treatments for dire necessities for myself and baby but more regularly on my asthmatic as she needs the maintenance. Thank you for hosting this site which I now visit daily to learn as much as I can. Thank you to all who contribute their input because we're all learning and growing together through the good and the bad knowing that 'all things work together for the good'
I just have a question for Ted in regard to the issue with hydrogen peroxide, used over a period of time, is it true that it erodes red blood cells as stated in the erroneous article about the South Carolina woman with MS who was injected with it IV? Can you address the red blood cell issue on that as I now understand that she died of the drugs NOT the HP treatments but would still like more info regarding the red blood cell issue.
Also, from my experience in dealing with small children especially, it is of critical importance that the HP inhalation method solution be diluted down considerably as they will not tolerate any stinging to their throat. As reported, I found the diluted solution to still do wonders for my children. Another side bar: I believe in treating children with the HP inhalation method, one should consider using a nebulizer machine instead of a spray bottle, the vapor is finer and more tolerable instead of just a mist and it's easier for them to handle the whole breathing in and out motion because the machine does so much more for them. I know in my state if a child is diagnosed with asthma, a doctor is legally bound to order the machine for them which will be delivered to your door free of charge. The reason for this being that sometimes asthma attacks are so acute that without this home treatment tool, one could die before arriving to a hospital so it is a liability issue for the doctor. My suggestion for those without this machine that are not able to pay for one is to take your child to the doctor and if not already diagnosed with asthma, get an asthma diagnosis and request that the doctor "fill a prescription" by ordering you a nebulizer machine. Just be sure not to disclose if you plan on using it as a natural nebulizer versus the nemesis (i.e. albuterol). I am not advocating dumping out your albuterol as I still keep some in case of emergencies but as far as using our natural nebulizer treatments for my asthmatic, so far so good as we have not had the need since for anything in our cupboard full of asthma-related drugs.
Another way I began using hydrogen peroxide since my discovery here is for my hair. I found the method described by someone on this site of putting the HP into your shampoo and shaking it up to clean your hair a little too harsh on my scalp. Instead, being a dirty blonde, I prefer the method of spraying straight 3% on my hair after a shower, while wet, and brushing it all the way through. This method has brightened my hair considerably, and my husband believes it looks better than a $300.00 professional color treatment. I am now back to a bouncing blonde, natural and highlighted looking instead of that chemical, bleached look. I just turned 40 two days ago and now look again closer to 30 thanks to that invaluable substance, hydrogen peroxide.
Anyway, I better try to keep this under 2000 words but I have been boosted, encouraged and empowered by the information that originated on this site. Thanks again for a job well done!"

01/26/2008: April from Colorado replies: "My son has been showing signs of asthma over the last three months, only 3, started Oct 20 with bronchitis, a couple other bouts with "virises" and asthma attacks and now has the flu. This is the only time he hasn't demonstrated his usual "asthma attacks", but doctor has had him on albuterol, steroids, and pulmicort. I am interested in using HP inhalation treatment, but a little weary because he so young. He is scheduled to see an allergist/asthma specialist next week. Also related to his health and possibly an attributing factor to his immune system is his diet is lacking in many ways, I have struggled since he was 9 months old to get him to eat, but he is a challenge! He mainly likes dairy and starches, his poop has never been normal looking, yellowish, maybe clay looking, and he has verged on anemic with signs of PICA. He was breastfed, and we try to eat whole foods and hormone free milk, meat, and eggs, but he often does not eat what we do, besides the milk. (Our daughter who is a year younger than him will eat everything!) Any suggestions from Ted or others would greatly be appreciated. In regards to his diet, my doctor says that I just need to make him eat better and remove the starches from our house and read the Strong willed child! 02/01/2008: KR from Rancho Cucamonga, CA replies: "I don't want to be the giver of false hope on any one remedy. I now realize that every child or person is different and therefore may respond accordingly depending on each set of circumstances they are given. To explain this further, my asthmatic as described in my earlier post is now back on steroids and albuterol b/c a cold that we all had exasperated her asthma and she was no longer responding to the HP inhalation therapy that I earlier treated her with. On the other hand, my baby was again coming down with something and had high fever for over a day. I put her back on HP inhalation and she cleared up right away! It's strange that these outcomes can't be more consistent but I suppose there's just so much more to learn. Still Seeking, kr"
02/11/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "An asthmatic condition can be a number of causes, which is why no single remedy will work for each individual cases. Much of the time I spent is finding the cause, which is rather lacking in many emails.
For example, I was an asthmatic myself and was greatly helped with just vitamin A, and baking soda. My body at the time was acidosis and lacking in vitamin A and vitamin A helped increase the mucus reducing the resistance. Hence, I later found vitamin E to be helpful.
As to a high fever issue, HP shines well especially with fever, viruses, pneumonia and bacteria. It kills it.
Asthmatic is not a condition of pathogens in many cases, it is a reaction to a foreign toxins, in which case detoxification is a more useful way to reduce "reactions". In my books asthmatics and allergies has the same issue. In which case chlorella/spirulina, adding 5 drops of 3% H2O2, in a glass of water, and the use of baking soda such as 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, or perhaps the use of 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.
Natural remedies and natural therapies are inseparable when we treat the cause, not the methods to cure a given condition. The cause is the foundation to proper use of natural therapies. Hence, asthma is often a toxins initiated by vaccinations, aspartame, toxic heavy metals, thinners, for example, being the most common of all toxins. "
02/29/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "... actually probability that your doctor didn't mention is neither viral or bacterial, but an inhalant allergy. Do your children's asthma attacks occur after they were exposed to perfumes, after shaves, colognes, air deodorizers, paint odors, etc. If after observation, you find that they do, when you find yourself close to any of the above triggers, get away as quickly as you can. You read and hear a lot about 2nd hand cigarette smoke, but frankly I prefer the smoke over the smelly things mentioned above. The smoke may give me lung cancer 29 years later but I learned that the smelly things can kill very quickly. I find it amusing that some of those complaining of 2nd hand smoke smell like they either bathed in it or marinated themselves in it overnight! I also find many more people wearing offensive odors than I do smoking. I always take 50 mgms. of Benadryl (generic name is diphenhydramine HCL and available @ Sams Wholesale Club for less than $4.00 for 400 25mgm tablets) before going out the door since I passed out from co-workers perfumes several years ago. Important: never give this during an acute asthma attack, but after the attack, you can keep them on it for a long time to prevent future attacks. No prescription is needed- just look for them in the allergy section close to the pharmacy. I have read that asthma patients are usually low on selenium, which you can probably also find (or have them order them for you) at Sams. Hope this is helpful to you and all other asthma problems."
03/02/2008: KR from Rancho Cucamonga, CA replies: "Thank you so much to Joyce for your thoughtful response to my prior post. Both of my daughters actually have seasonal asthma and allergies from the pollen and cold air which seems much more invasive than inhalant b/c it?s not avoidable and in the air everywhere outside as opposed to being contained indoors from perfumes or other inhalant dangers. The viruses and bacteria that they catch from the common cold or flu always exasperates their asthma and provokes attacks and major mucous build up in their lungs.
In terms of asthma, I have since come to learn that the H202 inhalation therapy is good for them only to replace the antibiotics that they constantly get prescribed when they have asthma outbreaks, or attacks. The typical regime has been the Dr. giving them antibiotics to control infection of the phlegm lodged in their lungs. I now forego that and replace, when needed, with the HP. I also use the HP as a treatment if they have fever or cold or flu to eliminate the virus or bacteria altogether.
When I was using H202 therapy to treat my daughter's asthma after an outbreak, I discovered that her wet cough turned into a very persistent, dry cough. The HP actually PULVERIZED her mucous, much like chalk on a board. It became immovable and impossible to clear. That is when I returned her to her asthma meds (steroids and albuterol) which in turn loosened the phlegm again to where she could expectorate it. I did notice that after she was able to eliminate the phlegm, her return to recovery was much faster which I, nonetheless, attribute to the HP.
I thus found that the HP inhalation does not deal directly with the asthma as far as inflammation control and other pressing issues that asthmatics must address. Instead, to keep the asthma at bay, I am now experimenting with coconut oil as a supplement for both girls (age 7 and 2 1/2) as a direct result from a post here on Earth Clinic from another mom who has been using it successfully on her asthmatic daughter.
After still much more research and seeking, I am currently also experimenting with another promising natural, alternative therapy that I will post later here on EC if successful. This one is actually nowhere yet on this site so I believe can potentially help many more people such as myself in the future."
03/05/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn. replies: "To KR from Cucamonga, Ca./asthma. Bingo! Kr, I told you that Mom is the best observer to find the cause. I am a firm believer that asthma is basically an allergy problem. If you want to see me go into a severe problem breathing, just open a bottle of Avon's Skin So Soft and don't block the door because I will have to make a rapid dash to get fresh air and get away from it! It never ceases to amaze me what different problems people can have with allergies to the same thing.
You didn't mention what time of year their seasonal allergies occur. Whatever season, it is an inhalant allergy (the pollens entered their bodies while inhaling. All four of my children had spring and fall problems that usually started with clear running noses, followed by coughing, progressed to yellow running noses and ended up with bronchitis , fever and ear infections. I never figured out what caused it initially until I acquired a mixed rat terrier doggy who coughed so bad the first fall we had him, I thought he had distemper, but he started improving before I carried him to the vet. When little doggy started the same cough the following spring, My aha button beeped and I realized that I had acquired an allergic doggy and connecting allergies to pollen from blooming plants, and since the dog stayed outside more than the kids did, I went outside to try to find the triggering offender. Lo and behold the only thing I found blooming was the big elm tree just outside my front door. It wasn't very eye-catching; just an ugly fringy mess. I guess that is why I never noticed it before! My aha sent me to our family doctor to request the prescription which was required to obtain it at that time. When he started writing, I asked him to just give me at least a pint, or preferably quart since I would be giving it to 4 kids, myself and our dog. He wrote it for a quart then and every time I needed it after. I don't know the topography in Cucamonga, but that elm tree became my alert to start benadryl in the spring and kept them on it 4 times a day until all the trees leafed out good before stopping it. Goldenrod was my cue to restart the benadryl in the fall and I kept them on it until the first killing frost. Voila, no more seasonal allergies ending up with infections and loss of sleep on my part while administering all the antibiotics and trying to combat the pain, not to the cost.
The problem is to figure out what is triggering their seasonal allergies and start the benadryl (diphenhydramine HCL) before the symptoms start. If you are concerned about long term antihistamines. I attended a workshop [probably 15 or 20 years later and listened to a man teaching pediatric medicine who said the same thing and that they had kept some children on it continuously for 4 years at a time without any problems. If you can't find their triggering causes, you may have to go that route. Another thing you might try is a tsp. of unprocessed honey at bedtime. Be sure it is processed within 50 miles of where you live and D0 NOT GIVE IT TO YOUR BABY UNTIL IT IS ONE YEAR OLD. When I first heard of this, I began trying to figure out the rationale behind it. The conclusion: bees produce honey from pollen collected within that 50 miles radius; therefore the honey is doing the same thing the expensive allergy desensitation injections do - delivering minute amounts of pollen to desensitize them to those pollens - but a lot cheaper and less painful. Honey also has some antibiotic effect. Keep up the good work and keep your hands on those reins!
In parting, I'll share another young doctors lecture before the one mentioned above. He stated that antihistamines made no difference in middle ear infections but emoving bad tonsils did. I disagreed with him and apparently insulted him and his medical sponsors when I asked what time of the year the studies he was quoting was done. His answer was he didn't know but he assumed it was winter. When I told him that speaking as the mother of 4 (2 with tonsils and 2 without), that tonsillectomies made absolutely no difference in middle ear infections but the intelligent use of benadryl did; but you needed to start it with the earliest symptoms or before they started if you figure out your signals for starting it before symptoms began. After my experiences with my own children, the first question I asked the parent was if the child tended to have ear infections in the spring and fall. When the answer was "yes", I found that antibiotics and antihistamines were necessary to get them well but I advised them to watch for the elm trees to bloom in the spring and the goldenrod in the fall to know when to start the benadryl and also when it was safe to stop it. Voila, the same regimen worked for my little patients the same as it did for my own children. All 4 of my children continued to have the ear infections despite having tonsils removed from the first and third child. With the prevention outlined above, none of them had any more ear infections until 2 of them got external otitis (called swimmer's ear) at different times in their teens. Hope you figure out your cues, if not, don't be afraid to continue it longer and if you're getting the benadryl over the counter you can double the dosage because most prescription drugs that are moved to OTC status are recomended at one-half the amount usually prescribed. We already had my granddaughter on 25mgms of benadryl 4 times a day when I took her for 2 year checkup. When asked how she was doing, my reply was that thanks to l tsp. of benadryl 4 times each day she was fine. The doctor said to make sure she didn't get too sleepy with that dose. My little one was happily playing while we talked, which is why I laughed when replying: "Does she look sleepy to you now? She had the last dose 1 dose 1 hour ago."
03/05/2008: KR from Rancho Cucamonga, CA replies: "Hi, Joyce! I agree with your belief that asthma is related to allergy. My understanding is that asthma is an allergy; it's just an allergic reaction of the lungs to whatever triggers them adversely to the environment whether that is indoors or outdoors (as opposed to allergic rhinitis, for example allergy of the nose). I suppose I just categorize inhalant allergies differently from asthmatic allergy triggers when it comes down to it, but semantically, you're right, they're all based on something that's inhaled, whether that something is a chemical or that substance is from the pollens in the air we all breathe.
I am just unfamiliar with Benadryl or diphenhydramine HCL and its pharmaceutical contents, or ingredients. I am concerned with the long-term use of anything that is manufactured chemically. Perhaps my concern is invalidated as I have heard of mothers giving it to little ones, especially on long flights to sedate them, used somewhat to have a tranquilizer effect. But of course, that is temporary application. This is unfamiliar territory for me but I thank you for your input and it really gives me food for thought and more reason to research this Benadryl substance. It certainly sounds like a better alternative to the heavy drugs that are typically used for asthmatics and allergy sufferers but I'm still holding out for that all natural approach which I believe I have now found but will continue to test on my daughter before posting."
03/29/2008: Jesse from Tampa, Fl replies: "Does H202 or anything natural help with bronchial inflammation for asthma? I have mild asthma, all pulmologist say you need to control the inflammation or you'll wind up with stiff brochials ie, in copd patients. I have tried nutritional supplements to no avail. From your writings and reader comments I understand how inhaling HP 0.5% solution helps with underlying infection But what about underlying broncial inflammation? Because if the inflammation is not controlled then treating symptoms is all that occurs i.e., brochodilators, coughing up sputum and generally feeling better temporaly. I'm hoping for some remedy other than corticosteroids to treat my asthma. I do realize diet and environment are factors in prevention and have pursued that route as well. I have a nebulizer and would like to put the correct amount of a natural solution to help with broncial inflammation, any advice would be appreciated."

Is this a typographical error? It is stated that Vitamin A helped increase the mucus - wouldn't you want to decrease mucus?"
EC: Yes, thanks for pointing that out. Most certainly a typographical error byTed!
[YEA] 10/15/2007: Catherine F Clark from Chicago, Illinois: "Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Therapy. I had a terrible bout with Asthma last weekend and couldn't breathe without wheezing. Albuterol wasn't helping, even the kind using my nebulizer. I got no sleep last night and couldn't go to work today, I was so exhausted from the effort just to breathe. I got online and went to Earth clinic and did a search on Asthma. I saw the Hydrogen Peroxide inhalation and tried it. I can now breathe without wheezing. I am so glad to find something affordable as my asthma meds are so expensive, even WITH insurance! I am hoping that tonight I will be able to actually lay downn in bed instead of sitting up all night on the couch because of the wheezing and coughing. The cough isn't gone yet, but as I am at home today I plan on nebulizing with Hydrogen Peroxide several times today. Thank you for providing this forum. I will also try this method with ACV today and see what my results are."
