LOW-CARB DIET

[YEA] 02/22/2011: Ben from Las Vegas, Nv writes: "Accidental Staph Remedy
For several years now I've used turmeric, in all its forms, to "control" a very persistent staph boil, with mixed results. Sometimes it was very effective, and could push the infection into complete "remission" for a week or two, but the core remained, albeit very small and benign. But would always return, seemingly at random and sometimes with a vengeance.
Well, a couple weeks ago I started a strict low-carb diet to lose some winter weight before spring, and voila! The boil has disappeared entirely and I can't even percieve the core anymore, no matter how hard I press into it.
Going to a low-carb regimen is the ONLY thing I've changed, and as I recall the worst recent flare-up times, it seems to coincide with high carbohydrate consumption.
IF this is really the trigger for flareups, I can go low carb the rest of my life, NO PROBLEM. It's worth freedom from staph flareups."

MAGNESIUM

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 05/15/2008: Leah Huete from Baltimore, MD writes: "I am writing about all of the people who have talked about tumeric or garlic as a potential cure for MRSA.
I've been doing some studying and there is a commonality I've found in these items:
Magnesium
Tumeric: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/2043.html
Very high in manganese and high in magnesium.
Garlic:
http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/11215.html
Very high in manganese (both also very low in sugar and in fats)
French Green Clay has been touted as curing MRSA -HIGH IN MAGNESIUM
Antibiotics and poor digestive tract absorption will cause a magnesium deficiency.
Antibiotics kill off beneficial organisms in the gut, causing loose bowels, which decreases absorption.
"Antibiotics can also lower magnesium availability. Included on the antibiotic list are neomycin, tetracycline, erythromycin, ***sulfamethoxazole****, and sulfonamides.
Other medications that reduce the body's supply of magnesium include the anticoagulant drug warfarin; corticosteroids; oral contraceptives (birth control pills); and the immunosuppressant drug cyclosporine."
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=75Magnesium deficiency
"Antibiotics (e.g. gentamicin and amphotericin) These drugs may increase the loss of magnesium in urine. Thus, taking these medications for long periods of time may contribute to magnesium depletion [9-10,12]."
http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/magnesium.asp
"Because magnesium plays such a wide variety of roles in the body, the symptoms of magnesium deficiency can also vary widely. Many symptoms involve changes in nerve and muscle function. These changes include muscle weakness, tremor, and spasm. In the heart muscle, magnesium deficiency can result in arrhythmia, irregular contraction, and increased heart rate. Because of its role in bone structure, the softening and weakening of bone can also be a symptom of magnesium deficiency. Other symptoms can include: imbalanced blood sugar levels; headaches; elevated blood pressure; elevated fats in the bloodstream; depression; seizures; nausea; vomiting; and lack of appetite. "
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=75
"Deficiency symptoms have three categories:Early symptoms include irritability, anorexia, fatigue, insomnia, and muscle twitching. Other symptoms include poor memory, apathy, confusion, and reduced ability to lea. Moderate deficiency symptoms consist of rapid heartbeat and other cardiovascular changes. Severe deficiency of magnesium could lead to tingling, numbness, sustained contraction of the muscles, and hallucinations and delirium. "

What Magnesium does in your body:
"Magnesium: What is it?Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Approximately 50% of total body magnesium is found in bone. The other half is found predominantly inside cells of body tissues and organs. Only 1% of magnesium is found in blood, but the body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium constant [1].
Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis [2-3].
There is an increased interest in the role of magnesium in preventing and managing disorders such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Dietary magnesium is absorbed in the small intestines. Magnesium is excreted through the kidneys [1-3,4]."
http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/magnesium.asp
Also
"Magnesium ions are essential to the basic nucleic acid chemistry of life, and thus are essential to all cells of all known living organisms. Plants have an additional use for magnesium in that chlorophylls are magnesium-centered porphyrins. Many enzymes require the presence of magnesium ions for their catalytic action, especially enzymes utilizing ATP, or those which use other nucleotides to synthesize DNA and A."

Now I will say I am drawing correlations which are not scientifically proven. They are loose correlations and drawn conclusions. I am not affiliated with any health products or sites or doctors, I am not advocating the use of any health food product (it's really best to go natural with regards to vitamin intake). I have been suffering from fatigue, CA-MRSA, sleeplessness, arrythmia and bloating. I'm going to try more magnesium!

MANUKA HONEY

08/21/2011: Deedee from Charlotte, Nc, Usa writes: "This was a miracle topical cure for me. I have a mild case so I understand, but my sores still stung like crazy. I heard about MGO 550 Manuka honey and ordered it. Amazon.com has it the cheapest around. I went directly to the manufacturer and got the 550/250, the strongest I could find. Spread it on a sterile gauze pad and within seconds no more sting. Amazing. It's been 24 hours and when I take off the pad and wait about an hour the stinging recurs. I am on day 6 of this disease and am also pain free. My body still aches, but no pain."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 06/01/2010: Claudia from Brooklyn, Ny writes: "Manuka Honey helped my MRSA infection heal. It did NOT prevent an existing boil from needing to be drained in the ER.
I am pregnant, in my first trimester, and was desperate to avoid taking antibiotics. I had one MRSA boil on one butt cheek and another developing on the other. I went to an ID doctor (infectious disease) who first said to wait and see what happened. (I have had 2 other infections in the past, and an allergic reaction to Bactrim). Then, when that boil got worse, he first said, "Oh, really? Because it was just a small pimple the other day?" Then he called me back two hours later and advised me to go to the ER where they would probably have to put me on IV drugs. Next doctor! Clearly this guy didn't know what he was talking about.
I had a very smart and well-informed dr in the ER. She gave me a prescription for antibiotic (pregnancy safe) but said she would be soaking like her life depending on it and looking up natural cures.
At this point, I'd been taking turmeric for days. I was eating it first 3 tsps a day in water. Then mixed into yogurt. Then into kefir. Finally mixed in with coconut oil, which I'd mixed with freshly ground black pepper (which is supposed to activate the active compound/s). I was applying tea tree oil and soaking the boils in sometimes Epsom salt and sometimes tea tree and sometimes a mix. Nothing seemed to be happening.
The first boil, which had been drained, was healing. At this point I received my Manuka Honey ointment in the mail. I applied to the drained boil and the second, extremely tender and painful but not drained boil. I was also applying castor oil, black pepper, turmeric (and taking internally) and--finally, for the last couple days--raw garlic.
I also at some points applied Milk of Magnesia.
Many of the active oils that have been proven to kill MRSA (oregano, grapefruit seed, geranium) are not safe in pregnancy so I could not use them.
At the end, the natural remedies did not do very much for me at all. I ended up having to go to the ER to have the second boil lanced. (Why, dear God, do I need to go to the ER to have something done that a first-week med student could do with a clean knife and some clean gauze? Ridiculous.)
Then, still hoping the boils would heal on their own and I could avoid taking antibiotics, I was applying the manuka, following the directions, soaking and cleaning with Hibiclens--which I had been doing all the while, along with one-use towels, laundry separation, insanely frequent hand-washing, etc etc etc).
I developed a fever and had to take the antibiotics so that my 5-week old developing baby would not be hurt by the fever.
All in all, the honey appears to be helping the wounds heal. But I can't say I had particular success with anything else. I will continue to change my diet, take Magnesium liquid, and hit up the probiotics and start making my own kefir as soon as I'm done with the antibiotics."
[YEA] 04/27/2011: Jess from Philadelphia, Pa replies: "Last year I had MRSA from a spiderbite.I found out very shortly after my diagnosis that I was allergic to antibiotics. I had a horrible reaction where ALL of my skin swelled up and peeled off. I had to find another way to treat it. I had spent more time in the hospital for drug reactions than for the MRSA wound itself.
I treated the weeping, disgusting wound with: eating 3 cloves of raw garlic a day (cut up with a glass of warm water), I made a paste of tumeric powder, tea tree oil, lemongrass oil, and manuka honey and applied it to the wound very often (whenever the last application of paste dried up I'd apply a new one and cover it with a bandana that had the paste applied to the side closest to my skin as well). I washed it 3x a day with Hibicleanse as well.
2 weeks after I started this regimen, the wound began to heal up."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 01/02/2010: Honestyisreal from Durham, North Carolina, us writes: "Manuka Honey is an absolute quick cure for MRSA. Just put it on at the first sign of a breakout. I use turmeric as well but Manuka Honey is the only thing that cures the mrsa within a few days. It can be purchased online or at your local health food store. Please try this. A friend of mine and I both have frequent mrsa breakouts and antibiotics is only a temporary fix for us. The honey is a bit expensive but it only takes a small amount of honey. You apply it like an ointment and it lasts a very long time. The higher the UMF the better. Again, do yourself a favor if you have mrsa, and try this. I gaurantee you will notice a significant change within 12 hours!"
Replies01/03/2010: Karen from Willits, California replies: "I have to agree that manuka honey is a valuable asset in the battle. We too struggled with major antibiotics (even though 90% remedies I use are natural) only to get it again. My husband and several friends got multiple bouts of MRSA and many at a time. In the beginning it was often that several wounds would show at a time and serious deep infections occur. That is when the honey was the best at multiplying new healthy tissue. It went from 2 weeks of rebuilding tissue to about 5-6 days.We found two other remedies that became our cure. Oil of oregano (Wild mediteranian) and Usnea tinture. At the first sign (itchy like pimple with pain) dose with 1/4 to 1/3 dropper of Usnea 3x daily. You will feel it working under the pimple. Keep this course for 2-3 days and tapper off the last 2 days at 2x then 1x. If you are not seeing results at day 3 keep up full dosage for 5 days and rest for 2. then try week 2 at tappering off by day 4 as described above. Now at the same time every day 2-3x (times) at 2-3 drops Oil of Oregano under tongue (very fiery but temporary, use hot tea or some other chaser) should be taken as a supperb immune booster. This was a way to address the wound itself before it got out of hand and boost the immune system at the same time. I have since used O of Oregano for everything. Herpes outbreaks, reg. pimples, colds, IBS, u name it. The book to read about O of Oregano was "a cure is in the cupboard"I also must add that you must NEVER SQUEEZE the spot but to stretch it gently to get puss to flow from a "ready" wound. It will otherwise implode and make many more at the site with the result of 5 times bigger lesion and more complications. Good luck, we now head them off sucessfully for 3 yrs"

[YEA] 06/22/2008: Angie from Las Vegas, NV writes: "I started using Manuka Honey on my outbreaks after 10 horrible months of recurring MRSA boil outbreaks, unfriendly & unhelpful doctors, painful cutting and draining. Once I received the honey I started putting a poultice of it on the boils overnight. Not a lot of honey but enough to cover the boil completely then cover it with gauze. The boils now only last 2-3 days and do not get very large. Now I need to find a way to stop getting them! At least I haven't needed antibiotics since I started using the honey which is wonderful because I became allergic to the Bactrim after 6 months of almost constant use."

[YEA] 10/21/2006: Joanne from Victoria, BC Canada writes: "Manuka honey is being used in many places (UK, Australia, New Zealand) for treatment of MRSA. One teaspoon morning and night for prevention and up to 3 tsp. once or twice a day for an internal infection. It can also be used topically to stop skin infection, 50/50 with water in an atomizer for chest infections, along with many other uses. One potential reason for its effectiveness may be the existence of small amount of naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide in the honey, although researchers put it down to "Manuka factor," an unknown active ingredient."

MASTER CLEANSE

[YEA] 09/24/2010: Belinda from Brooklyn, Ny writes: "I suffered from rigorous staph infection/MRSA for about a year. I thought I was dying. The antibiotics would only work for a few weeks and it would just come back harder. I had the boils on my legs and buttocks. The pain was unbearable and caused me not to work or go to school. I couldn't take the pain any longer and thought I was dying when I decided to try the master cleanse diet by stanley borroughs. Not only did it rid my body of the boils, but I never had one since. Its been 3yrs and no boils whatsoever. I was prone to boils before MRSA, I'd get them under my arms occassionally and a couple times near my pubic area. Not anymore though.
I hope this helps you the way it has helped me. I wish someone wouldve told me the miracles of the master cleanse. People are paying hundreds of dollars for antibiotics and serums that don't work when in some cases just cleansing your body can cure you. Good luck."

07/16/2010: Jabberjawclaws20 from Shock, West Virginia, United States writes: "Hello my name is Bucky and I have just been told I had MRSA. In the last few months they gave me bactrim which I am allergic to and then they gave me other antibiotics and it went away but now it is back and it is just on my legs, but it is all over my legs from my ankles to my thighs. I really hate having it and don't want to have to keep dealing with it every two months. I found this site which I think is great and have been reading on it and from what I'm learning I bought some peroxide and milk of magnesia, but exactly how am I suppose to apply this and in what combination and how often and can it be applied to an open MRSA boil?"

[YEA] 02/16/2010: Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines writes: "Possible Milk of Magnesia MRSA Cure
Hi Everyone...I have reported elsewhere on this site that I had what I thought was jock itch(tinea cruris). And I had this problem for 7 years. I tried everything -- all the drugs, creams and antibiotics to get rid of it. Even using Ted's alkalizing remedies and using ACV topically wouldn't make a difference.
But this jock itch was a little strange. Bright red skin discolouration around my upper inner thigh and genital area which went right round to the rectal area of my bum. Like I say, a little strange, perhaps this was a form of MRSA?
In the end, after reading a post by Ted, I just dabbed full strength Milk of Magnesia(MoM) all over the MRSA area after my evening shower and went to bed. It didn't sting at all but was in fact quite soothing. Then I would leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. This was my daily protocol. The MRSA or jock itch disappeared within 2 days, healthy skin again, unbelieveable !!
The MoM has a double action effect on bacteria/fungus. First, it has a pH of 10 -- a high enough pH to kill any bacteria, virus, fungus etc. Second, MoM is hydrophyllic -- drives away water and moisture. So the offending microbe is both attacked by the high alkalinity and, at the same time, all the moisture from within the organism is simultaneously sucked out and driven away. Result: no more MRSA."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 03/31/2011: Jean from Willimantic, Ct replies: "Thank you Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines! I've been searching since last August for a way to heal what's wrong with me. What I thought was adult acne started exactly one year ago. Finally saw a dermatologist at the end of October. He only said I had a very severe case of eczema. I had to figure out on my own that it was seborrheic eczema, but it did explain why none of the acne images online looked like what I had. He cultured it and I saw him 6 weeks later. HE NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS MRSA until, in frustration, I went to an urgent care clinic and they informed me in the middle of January. That doc told me to use bacitracin and just plain water to cleanse my face.Long story short, even after seeing an infectious disease doc in January, nothing I tried worked -- not tea tree oil, honey propolis, drawing salve, Bactroban, the appropriate oral antibiotics, the corticosteroid from the dermatologist, Betatine or even the Hibiclens. All of these helped a bit, but nothing HEALED. I searched and searched online for another example similar to what I had as I do not have boils (though have been wishing I had because there is info all over about treating them). YOU finally had something similar -- a fungal based red problem -- that responded to plain of Milk of Magnesia. I read your explanation of why and it made complete sense. I tried it in the middle of the day after going to the store to buy it and then showering. Within 24 hours I saw significant improvement. I am on day 3 and it continues working just as you described. The high pH is killing the exposed MRSA on the skin and is even reaching down below closed up lesions to destroy the MRSA that still lies there in the form of hard bumps that show as white through the skin.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! I ONCE AGAIN HAVE HOPE!!!"

[YEA] 06/28/2008: Patrick from New Haven, CT writes: "So I've been battling with Staph for many years...I think I may have caught it in high school or college as I was a dancer. I've gone every route possible...expensive derm Dr.'s in NY...anything that I could find to kill germs...EVERYTHING! Last November I visited the most amazing naturopath in Santa Fe... Govinda McCrostey. Three things to do.
1. sugar and anything the body turns into sugar feeds the staph.
2. Natural anti-bacterials such as Olive Leaf Extract, Uva Ursi, Usnea, Melissa, Noni, Colloidal Silver will all work on ridding the body.
3. Stop any crazy body and household cleaners and go the natural route. Treat your body and the environment you live in gently and it will calm down. I have been using very gentle soaps and moisturizing (BWC Vitamin C Lotion)
It's summer in NY and usually I'm covered in red dots. Well...this summer one or two. I put a bit of colloidal silver on them, maybe a bit of Apple Cider Vinegar, and all is good. No boils, no crazy infections and no pain. So...feel free to contact me for my thoughts but keep the diet clean (honestly I'm so bad at that) and avoid the sugar."

MISDIAGNOSIS
07/20/2011: Collcarm from Mentor, Ohio writes: "@ busycagal, , , yes boils are mrsa.. There is only one antibiotic that can take care of it and that is Bactrim.. I believe that is the generic version.. Mrsa lives on us and in our noses etc but can become infectious and even deadly.. The infection is often found in the ear.. The boils are on the inside.. Some women even contract them vaginally and are misdiagnosed there as well and treated with the wrong antibiotics... I would suggest that every time you see a doctor for your daughter that you demand a culture everytime.. When they confirm mrsa get the whole family treated and sterilize the house.. No drinking after each other or other people... Get your daughters partners treated if she is old enough to have one... You may also need to know that your doctor will try to convince you that you are over reacting , , but still insist and suggest that they contact the center for disease control to educate themselves fully on this subject..
I myself had this issue for some time.. My doctor refused to do cultures and pretty much belittled me as though I was over reacting.. I was very sick and finnally after months and demanding he prescribe the correct medicine.. > He wouldn"t even do the cultures... Finally I scheduled with another doctor in his office and he did the culture right away... I went back to my doctor to show him and he finally called the center for disease control and found out that he was wrong... He called me immediately to apologize and called in a new prescription.. He said that he and most doctors dont take it so seriously and didnt realize how serious an infection it really is.. He was dumfounded that people are really dying from this infection.. He really is a great doctor and I am comfortable with him.. He just believed what he believed.. He even had my and my boyfriend be treated at the same time for 30 days to make sure it was gone.. My stomach flattened and my sinus problems disappeared.. not really allergies like we all thought after all..
I have cousins that pass it around the family, drink and eat after each other.. One gets it and a month or so later another gets it.. They think nothing of it.. Oh its only mrsa.. my doctor said not to worry about it...
so sad.. Even the babies.. When I had it for that period of time, ovvr and over for about a year, it caused clouded thinking and forgetfulness.. Fatigue, .. your daughter may seem lazy when in reality she has an infection causing her to have difficulty in her concentration...
My auto loan lenders father died from a mrsa infection that same year.. that is what started my researching it so deeply or I too would have probably believed my doctor and still been sick or worse..
I would suggest the prescription for 30 days and then a healthy body cleansing regime after to repair her body after the bout of antibiotics..
good luck to you and I hope this helps..
Wishing you a wonderful day! :)"

MULTIPLE REMEDIES

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 06/20/2010: Shelby from Newburgh, Indiana writes: "I have had a staph infection next to my eye for the past 7 months. I am not sure what it is exactly, as no doctor has ever taken a culture of it, however I have managed to get it under control initially with turmeric, tea tree oil, olive leaf extract, a high alkaline/lysine diet and allimeds. Initially all of these remedies alter and help kill the staph infection and it has gone from covering half of my face to tiny pinpoints of redness to barely shadows on my skin. At one point I was at a standstill with the allimeds, nothing seemed to be working to cure the increasing pain and burning near my eye. And so I turned to green clay (calcium bentonite) and it has been incredibly successful at bringing the infections to the surface. It is rather abrasive on the skin (especially near the eye) so it is good to give your skin a break between applications, apply vitamin E as well to keep it moist and scar-free. I am finding great improvements in the past 2 weeks I have been using the clay, it actually pulls the toxins out and you can feel it doing so. I have also ordered French green clay, which has a different mineral composition - we'll see how that goes.
I know you may be as frustrated as myself with this situation - please hang in there...I've had some pretty low days myself, but persistence is going to be the only thing that kills this mean little bugger. Good luck!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 01/14/2010: Shelby from Newburgh, In writes: "After trying a variety of remedies, there is still a very stubborn staph infection near my right eye. I have whittled it down to two small bumps the size of bug bites with garlic, turmeric and medicated creme from the doctor's office. However, these last two marks are deep under the skin. I was reading about helping to heal my stomach cramps (from all of the medicines over the past few months) and I read licorice tea was highly beneficial for my blood type (B) and so I went searching for licorice tea and found it to be extremely good. Up at school I needed to reapply the turmeric to my eye because it was beginning to itch and burn, but I didn't have any water, only the licorice tea. Not caring at this point, I slathered it on the staph infection and instantly it was cooled and began to ease. Ever since I have been cleaning the staph with the tea instead of water and the marks have scabbed over and are clearly healing. This tea is not pure licorice, so it may not be the licorice that is helping it. In the tea there is licorice root, cinnamon bark, orange peel, ginger root, cardamom seed, black pepper and clove bud. I don't know which one of these is helping, but I am very thankful it is! I found the tea in an organic herbal shop since the general grocery store didn't carry any licorice at all. "

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 12/27/2009: Mom In Calif from Santa Barbara, Ca writes: "A combination of remedies has really helped our whole family, both supplements and topical treatments. Many of these are already listed at this website. The supplements we have been taking include daily doses of turmeric, garlic, and extra vitamin C. Our topical treatments have been colloidal silver, silver hydrosol gel, silver gel in a petroleum base and oil of oregano.
These remedies did not make the outbreaks less frequent, but as our immune systems recovered from antibiotic therapy the outbreaks themselves became smaller and smaller, more like ordinary pimples than big boils. For about two months, we have been taking supplements and treating all MRSA skin outbreaks in the family with topical treatments only.
Then one day almost by accident we discovered that homeopathic ointment for hives and insect bites helped reduce the discomfort of a developing outbreak and also seemed to make our other topical treatments work much faster. In some cases, the antihistamine treatment actually stopped the development of an outbreak. (Probably commercial products such as Benadryl or Calamine lotion will work, too). It seems as though reducing the inflammation aspect of a MRSA outbreak allows the immune system to work better.
Our final breakthrough has been the addition of really high quality probiotics to our supplements. The immune system relies on good bacteria for optimal functioning, and although our regimen above was working, it felt as though we needed one last boost to our health.
There are hundreds of brands of probiotics to choose from, so do your research as thoroughly as you can. We checked product reviews, and also forums for other ailments such as Crohn's disease or IBD. If you read carefully, you will find that there are a small number of brands that seem to get consistently great reviews by people across the spectrum. We chose one that specifically mentioned MRSA in its literature, as well as getting many positive reviews.
It seems to have been the last puzzle piece for our recovery. Each family member has seen a small potential outbreak begin and fade away all in the same day. That is real progress, the sign that our immune systems are doing what they are supposed to. We are still very diligent in our cleaning and prevention routines, but it is nice to feel more confident in our bodies' ability to recover.
We hope this is helpful to other MRSA victims."

[YEA] 02/02/2009: Judith from Lansing, Iowa, USA writes: "a few new suggestions for MRSA:
I just got over a bad case of MRSA - started with boils in my nostrils then spread to the corners of my mouth. I thought it was cold sores for a long time, until I started getting a bad rash and pimples all down my cheeks from the corners of my mouth down to my chin. Then it started at the outside edges of my eyes. It burned so bad it felt like acid was on my face. I got a lot of help from the remedies here, particularly the tumeric. I swabbed the inside of my nose with a mixture of glycerine, tee tree oil, Grapefruit seed extract and Thieves from Youngs Living essential oils, and added some calendula oil. I also sprayed my face with hydrogen peroxide and colloidal silver. My eyes were a particularly tricky area and what I found to be extremely effective was dunking my face in a bowl of cold ozonated water. I used an inexpensive water ozonator and ozanted cold water for about 15 minutes, then dunked my entire face, holding my breath for as long as possible. I repeated this for about 10 minutes - about as long as the ozone lasts before is becomes oxygen. It was very soothing for my skin and immediately relieved the burning. The rash around my eyes cleared up after the first try.
The other thing I found very helpful, which I have not seen listed here, is zinc oxide ointment - particularly the diaper ointment by Burts Bees - it has zinc oxide, Vits E & A as well as a number of herbs. I put this on my face at night and it really soothed the burning so I could sleep. But the best thing was it dried out the oozing and really sped up the healing process.
Thanks so much for this site - I hope my experiences and suggestions can help someone as much as others have helped me."
[YEA] 07/30/2010: Shari from Richmond, Va, Usa replies: "I was diagnosed with MRSA a few months back, and, since then, have been plagued with the most painful boils under both of my armpits. The initial treatment was to have the ER doctor lance and pack the boil (which was NOT very pleasant, and more painful than I ever planned on experiencing again), and administer antibiotics (which did not make any sense to me, given the fact that MRSA is caused by antibiotic resistence). Since the doctor offered no hope, no cure, and no alternative treatment, I have taken to treating my own boils (successfully, I might add). When I get a new boil, I use (1) Silver Sol (which is an extremely effective, nontoxic silver solution that is available in a couple of brands that I know of) topically, as well as internally; (2) a tumeric paste - made with tumeric (yes, the grocery store spice), honey, and extra virgin olive oil, or (3) a combination of the two. The applications have helped to immediately alleviate the pain, as well as allowed a quick healing time from the boils. The one drawback is that, since my boils are sometimes extremely large, they rarely ever burst and drain, and when they do, it's only been a small amount. This last time around, I set out to find a method of bursting them, so that they could drain, and (perhaps! ) not return. Since I can take the Silver Sol internally to kill bacteria, I have it in my mind that, if I can get this darn puss out of my body, I can perhaps kill these germs once and for all (I'll let you know how that goes! ). My friend told me about an old-wives'-tale method of using the membrane from the inside of an egg. She had used the method on her daughter's boil just the previous week, and it had worked well. Well, being the adventerous soul that I am, I immediately went downstairs, and began cracking eggs. As I was instructed, I cracked the egg, pulled the membrane out of the shells, applied the membrane to my armpits, and covered the areas with a well-sealed bandage. I went to bed that night, and I didn't feel much happening, except a little twinge here and there during the night. The next day I got up, and promptly removed the bandages - and nothing. So I called my friend, and I complained that it had not worked. She laughed at me and said, "You have to leave it on longer than just one night, DoDo! " Ok; so back to the drawing board. That night, I reapplied the concoction to my armpits, and resolved myself to smelling like a rotten, dried-up egg for the rest of the week. My friend said that it had taken about 5 days for it to work on her daughter, and, it being 108 degrees here WITHOUT the heat index, I pretty much expected to have to stay by myself during the work week. So I allowed this thing to stay for an entire week, Saturday to Saturday, without changing the bandages, and without taking a shower (I wasn't exactly sure what the proper protocol was, and I just wanted this thing to work! ). At the end of the week, I took the thing off, and. . . Nothing. Ok, so I, by nature, am a pretty tenacious person. I decided that, if this thing could work for my friend's daughter, then there was just NO way it was NOT going to work for me! It's not really ENTIRELY true the NOTHING happened; the only thing I noticed was that my boils had gotten larger (maybe this was because the puss was being drawn up towards the egg???). So this time, I waited a week (so that I wouldn't be banned from work for smelling like I had rolled around in some rotting food products) and I went back to showering every day (I'm sure my co-workers appreciated me for this). The following weekend, I went back to applying the egg membrane to my underarms. As luck would have it, the weather turned a bit milder this week. It had rained a couple of times, and the temperature during the times when I was outside (very early in the morning, while heading to work; and in the evenings, after work) was only in the lower hundreds (YOU might not appreciate the difference there, but I have learned to adapt). This time, I was able to keep the thing on for the majority of the week without a huge amount of odor (though I must admit that there was a couple of times when I felt the need to apply my natural deordorant to the areas around the bandage! ). I think somewhere around Monday-Tuesday, I began to realize that something had happened at some point, but I didn't really have the time to investigate. Wednesday, I got to the point where I would at least look at the bandage, and I noticed that the bandage had some dried blood (or something) on it that I could see from the outside. On Thursday (last night), things had calmed down a little in my household, and I was actually able to attend to my wounds. What I discovered was that the large boil under my right arm HAD actually popped, and there was a large hole in its place. My friend had told me to expect this, so I didn't feel the need to freak out. I was actually pretty pleased to see the large gaping hole in my skin, which is a testament to Darwin's theory of evolution and survival of the fittest. The area was flat, and there was no pain. The smaller boil under my left arm had also, apparently, popped, but I had difficulty identifying the hole there. No matter; I was still pleased. So, that night, of course, I walked around my house telling everyone that I came in contact with that my boil had popped, and waiting for them to cheer enthusiastically for me over my victory (only my 13-yr-old son managed to pull that one off, but I have no illusions over the placation there). Today (literally) I am boil-free, and there were no scalpels involed! Take THAT, modern medicine!"

MULTIPLE REMEDIES TRIED

[NAY] 01/10/2011: Lostsoul In Ia from Des Moines, Iowa writes: "I'm sorry to sound so negative, but I've had MRSA now for 1year 8days and found NOTHING that has helped me at all!! Tumeric, not only the grossest thing I've ever consumed; but after a solid month of drinking it 3x a day it did nothing. Coloidial Silver, expensive and again did nothing internally or externally. Manuka Honey, REALLY expensive to get and did nothing other than stain anything it touched! PH Water, that was a complete joke and waste of money.
Gone to the doctor to have these things lanced so many times, I have so many scars from this procedure. I ended up in the hospital over Christmas, I had 8 boils that all showed up over a period of 4 days. The pain is incredible and more than my phyiscal health is suffering. I'm very depressed and in pain, I'm so sick of all these "cures" and nothing helps. My docotr has no clue what to do, except put me on more sulfa drugs. They make me so sick, the infectious dises specialist tells me to go home and just make sure my affairs are in order... Can you believe that! ?!
I have no idea what to do or where to go, I don't have the money to go out and blow on all this home remedy stuff. I hardly have the money to go to the doctor every month for more medicine that just makes me so sick.
Is there really anything out there that will keep this monster from coming back?"
Replies01/10/2011: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Lostsoul,So sorry to hear of your pain and suffering from MRSA. I'm sure it must be incredibly frustrating. You have tried four remedies so far. Have you tried the paste that Ted recommends?
Also, you don't say anything about your diet. I am a firm believer that many problems in our bodies are due to diet whether it's a poor diet or we're ingesting food that we're actually allergic to and don't realize it. So many issues can be cleared up by just cleaning up our diet. Actually, I have heard miraculous testimonies of people w/ debilitating illnesses completely rid themselves of them through this process. I myself rid excruciating throbbing pain that coursed through my body for 4 years by doing this. I won't go into it because many have heard my story on this forum who have been coming here for awhile. It does take work- I won't lie but it is worth it to restore one's health! I know Bill of Luzon, Philippines would agree w/ what I'm saying here. In an earlier post he even gives the anti- candida diet under the title of "Question Regarding Protocol for Fibromyalgia" that would be appropriate. My only change in it would be in #12 where he says "Try" and eliminate all chemically processed foods. I would have to be more adamant and say "Must"!
I do hope that if you have not done this lifestyle change then it would be the next course of action. I wish you the very best, Lisa"
01/10/2011: Victor from San Diego, Ca replies: "Dear Lostsoul, I can imagine your frustration with all these unsuccesful treatments. Have you considered mega doses of vitamin C, orally or in shots? I am suggesting this because I have had some improvements in my health since I started taking it, and my understanding is that vitamin C helps body get rid of viruses and bacteria. Maybe it would be helpful with your condition as well? Hope you get better... Vic"
01/10/2011: Brooke from Montgomery, Tx, Usa replies: "Have your Dr's tested and you know for sure that it is a Staph?
It also sounds to me like you are overly toxic and that the poisons that should be eliminated through the proper channel are not coming out as planned! (no joke intended! ) It could be from a thinning of your intestinal walls, which cause the poisons to leak out into your system and then they are "lost", they don't know where to go, so they form boils all over the body to try and escape. I would try this -
Cream of Tartar -4 teaspoonfuls, Sulfur - 4 teaspoonfuls, Epsom Salts - 4 teaspoonfuls
Mix these THOROUGHLY together. The dose would be a level teaspoonful of the mixture each day, stirred in a glass of water - preferably HOT water for 3 to 4 days. While doing this, your diet should consist of things that have a laxative effect. If you are not a diabetic, then add a lot more figs and dates. Add lots of jucing's - of citrus, raw vegetables, etc.. And cream of wheat, things like that while you are on the above laxatives. After that is done for 4 days then add Fletchers castoria - you can find the cheapest place on the internet - or maybe your health food store would have it. It is a small bottle and I do not remember the price I paid because I buy lots of bottles at one time to keep the price down, but search and you can probably find it.
Also - how is your coffee habit? If you take it black - or better yet decaffeinated black then great - if you are adding milk or cream then I would stop that immediately. It puts a strain on your whole digestive system and forms a plastic like substance in your bowels that do not allow vitamins and minerals to pass into your system.; be it from pills or the foods you have been eating.
Do you have a small vibrator at home? If so then use it on your abdomen; if you are looking at yourself from yourself then use it in a counter-clockwise circle. What you are trying to do it to get the poisons and the bowels moving better - do that for 5 -10 minutes and not only in the circular motion but across your whole abdomen. Also I would add to the nightly routine Castor oil packs over the abdomen, 4 days on and 3 days off. I hope this helps you. I know being on a fixed income can be a problem, but most of these things you probably already have in your home. Sulfur is probably not - but it is easy to find, I got mine from a kids chemistry set!! Good luck and I hope that you get over this!!"

Also read lots on the oil pulling website which has posts going years back so this has been around for a long time. It sounds amazing and is easy to do so why don't you have a read and see what you think. Hope this helps."

[YEA] 03/20/2007: Phoenix from Gulfport, Mississippi writes: "I have already sent my story dealing with MRSA but I have to take issue with your cures for MRSA. There is no cure for MRSA only management. MRSA like normal staph live on the body and in moist areas such as the nose and sinus cavities. Turmeric like antibiotics works on the blood and in the body to remove the infection. There are some very powerful antibiotics and I have been on a few that do kill these infections within the body along with the good bacteria as well. I do not know if turmeric kills these good bacteria. The best way that I have found for managing my MRSA outbreaks is antibiotic ointment over the counter is perfectly fine. Put some of this on a qtip and rub in your nostrils once or twice a day. I stayed boil free for 18 months doing this and stopped for a couple of months due to surgery and in that time I had another outbreak. I have since started this again and remain boil free."
RepliesTed from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Staph may exist in everyone, but most people won't be trying to manage an MRSA for the rest of their lives with an antibiotic ointment. In some cases people with MRSA has a magnesium deficiency and sometimes the body is acidosis. MRSA can exist when the body is in a state of acidity. If one alkalizes properly, MRSA should not exist. The problem about MRSA where I live is that it is completely antibiotic resistant. MRSA exists in certain biological terrain, where the body is acid, lacking in magnesium, boron and possibly iodine, being one of the causes that promotes their growth."
08/03/2009: Lane from Comer, Ga Usa replies: "My blood pressure is actually on the low side, so Ted's suggestion doesn't apply to me. I seem to recall some alternative treatments for glaucoma, but I've not had much success with alternative stuff in the past... in spite of the fact that I would like for them to work. And one's eyesight is not something on which to experiment. But the prescription drops are so expensive!"

[YEA] 08/17/2009: Dman from Houston, Tx writes: "Oil of oregano killed the MRSA. Here it is 1 year later and i thought i was MRSA free, and there it is a new nasty boil on my inner thigh. I went and bought ____ ___ , just ask for 1 oz __ __. (accept no substitutes, must say ___ on bottle ) I have used the reguler strength in the past, this is a few times stronger. For 2 days I took 2 droperfulls per day (180 lb male ) than went to 1 droperfull per day for 2 weeks. This stuff is very (medicine was not created to taste good ! )chase it like a shot. I put oil of oregano, and a big square Bandaid on the boil the first night and it burned like hell .The next morning put a hot washcloth on it( brings it to a head) and it opened and drained. put the oil and bandaid on it for about 5 days. Incredible healing. I still continue one half dropper oil daily and pray to God it does not come back. I have tried EVERYTHING a few of them are listed on this sight.Turmeric did not do much for me and irritated my digestive tract. Some seemed to help, but gave limited results. This worked better than anything (including some very expensive antibiotics) Get the oil online for less Please try this, I posted this because I want to help people, and I hope this will work for others"

After, 7 days-I got 3 skin eruptions on my inner thigh and starting feeling sick. After seeing a doctor-he wanted to put me on a string of antibiotics. Antiobiotics usualy leaves me with a yeast infection or thrush. After having such bad experiences with antibiotics, I went and got oil of Oregano for about 20.00 I used 4 drops in water and 1 drop under my tongue, Within 2 hours-my energy came back and I started to feel better. After 5 days-I can no longer tell that there was anything wrong with me, in the first place. I used oil of Oregano before when eating out because most restaurants are very dirty and full of workers that carry bacteria, so it has always worked for food poisioning but it also worked for staph and the boils that appear as a sympton of this infection."

ONION

[YEA] 09/18/2011: Sharon from Summerville, South Carolina writes: "My name is Sharon and I have had over 15 major back and hip surgeries. I have had many doctors work on my back since 1990 for 3 messed up disc. In 1994 and 1995 I had to have screws placed in my SI Area in both of my hips! That helped me get out of a wheel chair. In 1995 I broke 1 of my screws in my right hip and had to have it removed they replaced the screws with a large metal wedge! 1997 I had metal plates placed in my lower back area covering the L3, L4, L5 area. I stayed in the hospital over a month. On my way home I had a lot of pain in my right hip. My Doctors said to go to ER and get a shot. While there the Dr. said it looked like my right hip scar was hot and red-to go home and lay on a ice pack. I did so.
The next morning I woke up and could not straighten up. I felt my back area and there was something protruding out of my back. I went to the restroom to look at it in the mirror and when I seen this baseball size mound on my spine, I sat down and my whole back exploded out. I then was rushed to the Atlanta Medical Hospital where the disease control center said I had MRSA (Staff Infection) in my back really bad. They had to remove the metal from my back and my right hip. In the process my spine became broke into several pieces and half of my right hip also. I ended up having my entire spine removed from L3 down to S1! No disc and no virtabra at all. My doctors took pieces of my bone and made a bone bridge and grafted it into my back from L2 branching over to the crest of each of my hip bones. Think of a turkey wish bone. That is what my spine looks like. I was under their care for over 2 years but the infection would not go away. I was on every medication known to man. And in 1999 I had my 2 lines clot up in my hickmon port that was placed in my chest. This was how I was taking medication into my body for the infection. It was keeping me alive. When I went to the ER to get the lines unclotted they damaged the line and had to pull it out. The doctor sent me home from the ER and I called my doctor's and they said we are so sorry, that I only had 3 weeks to live- there was no more medication that I could take. My home nurse that was cleaning out my whole in my back (7 inch x 3 in deep hole) she was released.
I called my mother she had heard about the onion being used for infections many years ago. And she went to the store and bought a 5 pound bag of white onions. She took each onion and peeled them and then placed each one at a time on plate in the microwave for 1 min. Till they were soft. She carried a platter full of them into my room and took some saline water that was left behind by the nurse and poured it into my hole then she took a turkey baster and removed the fluid from my hole. She then took these warm oions and placed them inside of my back filling the entire hole. It was so nice the warmth of the onions felt like a heating pad inside of me. She then layed gauze over top of it and then a ace bandage and wrapped it around my waist. She did this 4 times a day for 4 months. My back started to heal up really fast to where there was only a 1 inch hole in my 4th month. I went back to my doctors and they run a culture on me there was no more MRSA. Dr. DeBoise at the Disease Control center in Atlanta, Ga. was so amazed at what he seen and I told him what my mother did. After that the infection never came back again. I continue to use onion's for toothaches, and any cuts I get. I am living proof of it and I am now 48 years old and it is 2011 Thank you Lord for your natural cures and this wonderful onion plant it saved my life."

I love onions and eat them raw (don't like them cooked, though). Whereas my husband won't eat them and, right now, is suffering from a cold. I don't know if it's the onions that are keeping me from getting it but they certainly aren't doing me any harm (other than "onion breath"). Thanks for sharing your home remedy. Good luck and may your health continue to improve. Cheers, Bess"
