Also the vagal nerve runs from the brain to the colon and controls many things in the body, inflammation, digestion, heart health, asthma, lung health, GERD etc.. If this nerve becomes unbalanced it needs to be rebalanced - this can be be done by deep breathing, humming, singing, gargling water or having acupuncture.
In some cases it can become damaged.. A friend of my daughters had this happen from taking a certain popular weight loss drug that caused slow gastric emptying, it turns out that after she finished taking this drug her stomach did not go back to normal and the muscles in her stomach were damaged as was the vagal nerve. This can be a lot harder to fix..and may not even be a able to be fully fixed. She cannot eat properly any more at all, is allergic to everything, has difficulty swallowing, has no gag reflex, and cannot speak properly. Please do be careful and look very carefully at side effects of drugs.
As for salt, I know they say to cut down on that but there are other doctors who say we need to have 2-3 tsp a day. I recently had food poisoning from food I bought at a supermarket and had gastro for 5 hours which dropped my saline (electrolyte) levels to a very dangerous level. I became very confused, could not string a sentence together, was dizzy and could not walk properly. I ended up in hospital for several days and had to go on a saline drip to get my saline back up to normal levels.. I now take the Sole each morning, and also have pure Coconut Water available in the fridge to drink also. I used to drink a lot of water but then was told that this flushes too much salt out.. so now make sure I do not go above 2L of water per day.
I hope this information helps.. and I urge people to do your own research about salt. The body cannot live without it.
