While I was wintering in the Florida Keys I noticed I was getting a cold sore. Now whenever I've gotten cold sores before they always appeared on the same area of my bottom lip, only this one didn't hurt like the usual cold sore did. I only had swelling with no pain, no stinging and that worried me. After the swelling went down I discovered a white plaque had appeared. It didn't bleed, hurt, nor could I scrap it off. I looked up what kind of lip cancers are the most common and it said "SCC' so I looked further for pics of early SCC of the lip and there it was. I thought about going to a Dermatologist but the thought of lasers and/or surgery just didn't appeal to me but I would go if needed. Instead I came here for excellent info. It seems a lot of people were happy with hydrogen peroxide and coconut oil so I decided to at least give it a try. I applied the H2O2 every 2hrs and kept a constant application of coconut oil on my lip. I noticed after 2 weeks it was practically gone but decided to keep up the treatment for another month. Disappeared and hasn't been back. Was it SCC of the lip? I don't know but it's gone and that's more important. Thank God for this website!
