I've had Exfoliative Chelitis since I was 15y/o. I was sitting on the bus and I noticed my lips felt "chapped". I couldn't have imagined such a condition would last a lifetime. I figured I would put chapstick on them and it would be fine....not so. It wasn't so bad at first but during the winter it was horrible. Now many years later I've discovered just putting Carmex on them works very good. I was told it's autoimmune so that means forever. Hope this helps someone who has it too.
