A while ago the doctor prescribed PPI's for me because of stomach problems, which I've never liked taking especially now that I keep reading of the link between them and developing alhzeimers. However, looking for answers on Earth Clinic I came across D-limonene for stomach and gut issues. First I purchased a small tub of chopped orange and lemon peel normally used for cooking purposes, but noticed that it contained sulphur dioxide which I didn't want to swallow, so rinsed about a tablespoonful of it, soaked it for ten minutes, rinsed again, then ate it before a meal. I am pre-diabetic, on no medication, and later discovered my blood glucose levels had risen more than normal. I've since purchased some D-limonene capsules, 1,000mgs, and found the same thing happening, a much higher rise in BG levels. I actually pierced one of the capsules and the oil they contained wasn't sweet to taste. Does anyone have any idea why it should raise my BG levels? It does help with the digestive problems.
