I want to thank you for this website. Last 7 years every time I would get a cold it would go straight into a full blown cronic cough for at least 2 to 3 months. The doctors have gave me the highest dose of cough syrup, inhalers, steroids and it wouldn't touch it. So last night i finally was desperate, because i had not slept in 4 days. so i saw that people were using apple cider vinegar with honey. I didn't have the honey, so i just took 2 tbls of apple cider vinegar and with in 1/2 hour I had relief. I have been taking it every 2 to 3 hours and within 16 hours my cough is minimal. After all those Dr visits and money,I have found something that works. Thanks again.

The ACV and honey is a miracle cure for me. I am 63 years old and every time I get a cold, I end up with a horrible cough. My husband and I were going out of town to a Broadway show and I had just started coughing constantly. I was so afraid I would not be able to attend the show, so I googled "coughing cures" and found the ACV & honey cure. I tried it immediately with regular ACV from the store and regular honey. It burned on the way down, but I could see such an improvement almost immediately! I took doses 3-4 hours apart for 2 days. I still coughed a little bit, but the improvment was miraculous! I was able to attend the show with no problem as well as do shopping, eating out, etc. When I think about all the sleepless nights I have had coughing my head off, I wish I had checked out this site before. Thank you so much for this information. It truly is amazing!

Jsmom, to get rid of a chronic cough, try mullein tincture in a little water. Use this two to three times per day. Also, try Rumex Crispus homeopathic pellets at night before bed, 15 minutes away from food or toothpaste. Good luck!

Hi,
I would highly recommend Celery Juice first thing in the morning. My daughter was diagnosed with silent re-flux due to which she had cough. Celery juice cured the problem and her cough too.

The apple cider vinegar treatment was ineffective for me. I've had a chronic cough off and on for seven years that no doctor has been able to treat. I found this site recently and started taking 2 tablespoons of ACV mixed with 1-2 teaspoons of honey and about 1/4 cup of warm water, three times a day. It's been over a week now and there's been no improvement in my cough, unfortunately. I'm giving ACV three stars only because I don't mind the taste and it seemed to help reduce some phlegm, at least for a few days.
My new doctor thinks this is a neuropathic cough and wants me to take a bunch of supplements (probiotics, magnesium, multivitamin, digestive enzymes) and possibly Gabapentin, which has shown some promise for helping chronic coughs.

Hi, Kelly
Here is tested remedy for chronic cough (consumption, phthisis) -
You must take 100gr of yellow propolis (not with black parts), freeze it at home in your freezer- it can be crushed in small parts or cut- freeze it once again for a few hours - take 3-4 small parts from freezer each time ( to avoid defrost) and grind it in coffee grinder - place grined propolis in 1 litre glass jar - poure 250gr of 75-degree alcohol (ethanol) - shake it well, close the lid and place the jar in fridge (don't freeze) for 10 days - shake it several times each day - outcome is natural tincture of propolis.
Melt on fire 250 gr high quality butter together with 2 tiles of dark chocolate, let it cool down a bit, and mix with tincture. Finally, add 250 gr of raw honey. That's all.
Can have 1 teaspoon on empty stomach twice a day.
Increase the dose up to 2 teaspoon twice a day after two weeks, if no allergic reaction.
Take until it's over.
Use it during a year in severe case (phthisis, along with regular prescriptions).
Good luck
Lecithin

After trying the gargles and remedy 'shots' suggested for my dry, irritating cough, I did not experience any relief. Just to be clear, I had already detoxed to the point that my body had no more phlegm or any actual bad stuff I had to get rid of.
It was just this nagging, dry cough that kept persisting and kept me from sleeping or even relaxing. Seeing no other remedies suggested for this, I stopped to think what was happening, and realized that if I could just coat that spot in my throat with something soothing that would stay put (and not just disappear when I swallowed), that might help. I did not want to use honey because the sugar could make the condition worse. So I thought of trying liquid lecithin. I happened to have a silicone head toothbrush, and used that to apply the lecithin.
Method: Place a small amount of liquid lecithin on the tip of the clean silicone toothbrush. Gently reach the toothbrush into the back of my throat (on and around the irritated spot) and lightly dab the lecithin where needed. The relief was instant. Eventually, the lecithin washes away and may need to be reapplied.

Deedra, for chronic cough, try eliminating dairy and wheat for a bit and see if it makes a difference.

Some hbp meds cause chronic cough. Needs to be changed. Also, check out oil pulling therapy for lots of things, including cronic cough. Extra virgin coconut oil is best for oil pulling. I was doing this and was better after reading Dr. Bruce Fife's book, "Oil Pulling Therapy, " I got lax & let up on my regime & the allergies & coughing, runny nose spells all came back. I started back w the coconut oil & could immediately feel myself getting better. Also luv the ACV/honey/Echinacea, Golden seal tinture/warm water regimen. I know dairy is bad. & whatever but I luv the stuff. However, whenever I do all of these things it is livable. I luv this site. I hav received more helpful info from sites such as this, plus that oil pulling therapy book of Dr Fife's than from any doctor.

I've had a horrible cough for the past four nights. It keeps me up well into the night, extremely painful and sometimes I feel like I'm going to throw up. So I looked online for a remedy and came across the recipe for AVC and honey on this website. I tried two tablespoons of AVC and 1 tablespoon of honey and it soothed my cough greatly. Now, I must admit, it tastes horrible, but it works! And it's worth it.

I had chronic cough for 6 years. I have been in Jewish Medical Center in Denver for many tests but the conclusion is nothing wrong with me. Every time I catch cold and it make me cough for three or four months. In August 17, 2007, I search for chronic cough remedy and stumble in to this site. I start taking ACV and honey the same day. The cough stopped the third days. I had surgery for my both knees, and the pain is constant. The ACV stop knee pain after the fourth day I take ACV. It's unbelievable. The cough does not go away completely. The ACV cure my cough about ninety percent. After suffer so many years, I am happy with the result. I still have to take ACV every day. Thank you for all of you who post your experience at the site.

my teen son had been having a cold since coming home from camp for about a week this summer. Last night, it was so bad. He was coughing nonstop in the bed for an hour and a half trying to go to sleep. I gave them all my usual remedies and nothing was working, including honey and lemon juice. As the last ditch effort I came and looked on earth clinic remembering there was something that I remember reading about. Sure enough gave him 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon of honey stirred up and I said just drink it and trust me. He stopped coughing immediately. He did one more half cough After about a five minutes and then he slept with the whole night. He slept so well I went to go check on them because I was worried that I hadn't heard him cough for so many hours

Do Not take Gabapentin without research. The mfgr fought and lost a lawsuit then sold it to AKC for pain in dogs. No proof it works

MSM

★★★★☆BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
I have had a chronic cough for several years now, that the doctors tell me is asthma. Which I believe it is but after seeing a Naturopath, I now know that I also have an inflamed digestive system that also makes me cough. I initially took the supplements that the Naturopath gave me but decided that I was spending too much money. So now I'm following the Naturopath's food guideline (not strickly) and taking MSM. I started about a month ago at 1/4 tsp in a glass of water each morning before I eat. I am currently up to 1 tsp and I have been experiencing light nose bleeding when I lay down at night. My cough is not gone, but it is greatly diminished so I don't want to stop taking the MSM. Is the slight nose bleeding a problem? I do not have any other side effects that I'm aware of.
