Two interesting articles regarding a mercury-based preservative in vaccines (Thimerosal) causing a steep rise in Autism and the government's attempts to surpress the data:

http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2005/06/16/thimerosal/index.html http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/7395411/deadly_immunity/

To quote from one of the articles: "Since 1991, when the CDC and the FDA had recommended that three additional vaccines laced with the preservative be given to extremely young infants -- in one case, within hours of birth -- the estimated number of cases of autism had increased fifteenfold, from one in every 2,500 children to one in 166 children.

Yes, that 2000 Simpson Wood conference by vaccine docs and execs, the minutes of which had to be forced out by a FOIA request to the US fed government, is telling!

The clear and bounteous evidence for the link is well established and entire rehab type clinics are running all across the USA .

One pioneer MD who has been successfully treating autistic patients for about 6 years now by removing the mercury and also the autism is David Geier. His father is also an MD. He presently has a client list of thousands at a time.

It's not anyone's imagination.

As expected, this makes him not very popular with the mainstream medicos, nor with "information" sites like wikipedia, quackwatch. , etc.

Remember that at least there is somebody who fortunately watches the real quackpot, and he is here:

My son was diagnosed with high functioning autism and ADHD. Five years ago, my Lt gave me about 35 lbs of ground venison he had shot. Since I was in paramedic school and very short on money, that venison is the only meat product the kids had for over a month. I used it in hamburger helper to make it last longer. After one week, I noticed a big change in my son. He was no longer harassing his sisters as much and he would lay quietly beside me while awake! (a first!) after 2 weeks, he was like any other "normal" child. As soon as we ran out of venison (no growth hormones or antibiotics added to livestock feed) within hours he went back to his hyperactive uncontrollable self. When he is on natural meats, he is fine, a joy actually, when he is not compliant with his diet, no one needs to tell me, I can see it in his actions. Parents with autistic or other "behavior/neurological" problems would be wise in trying a diet free of the hormones and antibiotics pushed into our children's systems via store bought meat.

Autism can be greatly helped by use of much greater amounts of vitamin D than recommended by standard medical practice. See the website of Dr. John Cannell www.vitamindcouncil.org) for dramatic and awesome improvement in those with autism when higher doses of vitamin D are used. It seems that higher doses of vitamin D has broad application to very many ill health conditions, including certain cancers, osteoporosis, depression, heart disease, hypertension, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, autoimmune diseases.

When I worked in the Schizophrenic ward many years ago.. All the patients diagnosed as "Schizophrenic".. craved cigarettes, I now see, this craving was was the bodies need to take on vitamin b3.. The nicotine gets converted to b3... Latest research is suggesting that high doses of b3 have a very benificial effect on Schizophrenics.. In one university trial it claimed to eradicate the disease. It might be worth mentioning that virtually all the patients in the Schizophrenic ward and the Psycho geriatric unit had fungal infections of the toe nails.. This cant be just coincidence. A fungal infection in one part of the brain might be called Schizophrenia and in another Parkinsons, and another Alzhiermers. The observation must sugest something is going on.

Thank you for the information about vitamin B3. My brother is Schizophrenic, and yes nicotine is a must for him. Also, he too suffers from toe nail fungal infection. I will look into getting some b3 for him.

Thank you for posting all of these rays of hope. My 3 year old son was diagnosed with high functioning autism 6 months ago. It has been such a new world for us that has led us to feel overwhelmed and hopeless.

I heard about the gluten/casein free diet, and didn't understand how this could help Autism. In addition, the vitamins/minerals make sense. This site has helped me understand more and given me hope and motivation to do it. I am willing to try anything that is not prescription drug for my son's well being. Thanks!

Hi Hopeful in Pasadena,

You may want want to visit the autism-related Yahoo groups online, particularly the Autism Bio Medical Discussion (abmd) group. There are parents and ASD adults posting on that 'board about diet changes, medicated therapies, as well as natural ones.

I'm a member of the abmd group as well as several others, a couple specific to CA, and I do not use prescription drugs to help my son. He is high functioning and his symptoms are considered 'mild' by the psychiatrist who diagnosed it.

HTH, Sheila

Perhaps if B3 cant get to the brain due to some chemical abnormality in the digestive system.. The need to ingest the nicotine through cigarette smoke, might be some cell survival response. It might be worth finding the type of B3 they administered in the trial. If you google B3 and Schizophrenia you might find it.

Hopeful, have you heard of the GAPS diet. You can google "GAPS diet Natasha McBride youtube". Natasha McBride was a Nurosurgeon whose son was autistic. She studied nutrition to help him and in the end cured him. She found autism is actually related to GUT issues. Does your son have digestive issues? It is related to the gut issues. Once you heal the gut you can slowly heal your son. Lots of info on youtube from MANY parents who SAVED/are SAVING their children. Children who were non verbal suddenly started speaking and stopped many "autistic behaviors".

The GAPS diet add in fermented foods, probiotics, digestive enzymes and vitamins and minerals. Lots of home made broths (to add back in the calcium and minerals into the diet). Fermented cod liver oil is also added to the diet.

Autism is curable disease. Don't listen to people who say otherwise.

My son has developmental/speech issues and we are still working through the ins and outs of the diet for him (I am doing it as well).

Im just wondering there has been a big push to link autism with vacinations but discovered some information on the net on various studies where there was a suggestion that children born through IVF are more likely to suffer autism, gastro intestinal disorders, childhood allergies, increased sickness and hospital stays and developmental delays compared to children concieved naturally. Seeing the comments regarding milk and dairy allergies and then improvements in children when reduced, and comments made about gastro problems. Has the autism and IVF link been made by autism charities or a study done to see how many children who have autism or autism spector disorders where born through ivf?

Kaz, according to a Dutch research babies born from IVF have 50% more chance of birth deffects. They have also discovered recently that babies born from frozen embrios are heavier and bigger than other babies. I don't agree with these ways of procriation but well, I suppose everybody has to know for themselves! I don't agree with a lot of things in this world, which doesn't mean people shouldn't do them! Other problems with IVF is that we are creating a generation of infertile people. They now know that boys born from infertile fathers have a lot of chance of being infertile themselves. And the first IVF baby in Britain is a girl who needed IVF herself in order to have her child. I am not sure whether we are solving problems or making more problems..... Just think that it used to be greatly the survival of the fittest, now is everybody's survival but won't we end up creating a very weak society? And it is not only IVF........ I find it rather worrying!

Hi Kaz, There is not a lot of evidence re studies done on this subject, but it is now a big business so I don't think we will see many independent studies done on this. There are many IVF children being treated by natural therapists so I suspect there are more problems than we will ever know about. I started to take more notice after a relatives (IVF) child was diagnosed with autism. There are a lot more mild (for want of a better description) cases of autism but parents have found success with very early intervention. In Australia there is (or was, I'm not sure if it is still available) help of about $12k for continuing therapies but only for young children. This is because the earlier the intervention the better the results. Unfortunately my relative found out about this after their child was just past the cut off age. If people do go ahead with IVF they need to take as best care as they possibly can with their diet, supplements etc. Plus extra care for their baby/child particularly their gut health. There is a fantastic book called 'The NATURAL WAY TO BETTER BABIES by Francesca Naish' it is nothing short of fantastic. She also has other books and she is in Sydney.

A very simple way to get the answer would be if there was a study done where the Dr that diagnosed the child with autism answered the questions was the child was vaccinated, IVF or not vaccinated. We would then see if there were true links. A very simple study to do but one I don't think will ever happen. All the best, Maria

We've been talking about the relationship between diet and children with autism and ADD. It is entirely possible that a specific diet could help a child with these diseases (for lack of a better term), but it definitely won't compeltely cure them. I'm studying neuropsychology, and I hope to help find some help for the parents of children with autism in the future, but for now diet will only help so much.

Candida can easily be cured with organic virgin coconut oil. When you start, you'll probably experience the die off period because the oil is killing the candida. Starts out with a teaspoon and work your way up 1 to 2 tablespoons a day. I cured myself with it. I now take 2 tablespoons of organic virgin coconut oil every day. I use it in my hair and my skin. My hair look so much healthier and my skin feels so soft.

I believe there are several factors involved in the increase of autism, adhd and pdd's.

Environmentally: cell phones and cell towers emit electromagnetic waves which have been proved (in non-corporate funded studies) to disrupt the brain of a fully formed adult. I do not believe there are studies involving forming fetuses. Television programs for children have become sensory overload. The pictures change at a rapid rate and there again, studies show that youngsters under 3 who watch these programs have less of an attention span.

Dietary factors include a myriad of changes over the last 25 years, including Bovine-growth hormone in cow's milk, affecting anything made with cow's milk not clearly marked "No BGH". Combine BGH with genetically modified organisms and it's a wonder our kids and ourselves have digestive disturbances. Knowing which foods are not tainted with GMO's is a bit trickier, because the USDA and the FDA do not see GMO's as a health issue. California and Vermont have tried to require labelling, but I believe the bills didn't pass.

Vaccinnes have alot more in them that we are unaware of. If a parent doesn't want his or her child immunized, shouldn't that be their right? There's always homeopathy (which has no side effects) to qualify your child for school.

I see many children on the spectrum given heavy-duty prescription drugs, while diet is not considered. School lunches are full of processed, gluten-rich, genetically modified foods and bovine growth hormone meats and milk.

I honestly believe that as a parent of any child, it is imperative to give them the most nutritious foods, the healthiest communities and the most loving homes.

The government needs to get out of the way or do the right thing for our children and that starts with funding REAL scientists, not just the ones who are working for BIG BUSINESS. That means regulating GMO's, pharmaceuticals and processed foods by an administration who is not beholding to the drug companies (as IS the FDA).

To Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand:

I found an article online about Dr. Abram Hoffer saying that schizophrenia could be cured by large amounts of niacin and vitamin C. He was curing/managing them before drugs were developed. Niacin or B3 will help those on the autistic spectrum as well. I also read the GAP book but my daughter is older and it is a challenge to get her to cooperate with any kind of diet. She has Asperger's. Vitamins, supplement, probiotic, etc. are helping.

Tips for Raising Autistic Children

Posted by Teresa (Leeds, Yorkshire) on 02/15/2013

I noticed a few posts on autism on this site and I wanted to share my own experiences in this in case anyone can take anything from it and find it useful.

I have 15 year old autistic twin girls. From the age of 18 months their behaviour and development was noticeably different to other childrens. Their speech was delayed, their comprehensive abilities and their ability to communicate was markedly different to other children of the same age. They had all the classic traits of "autism" and most ppl in my life began asking me "what is wrong with your children?" to which I would reply, "There is nothing wrong with my children"

I cannot even begin to list all the ways they were different, from hand flapping, to lack of speech, lack of empathy, no eye contact, loathing physical contact, lining things up, strict rigid patterns for time keeping, routes to places, not liking certain foods because of the textures etc.. Food touching each other.. Lacking basic understanding of social normaties, sensory overload from lights and sounds etc.. No comprehension of sarcasm, humour and many other things.. I could go on...

They attended speech therapy, were on the special needs register at nursery and school .. Had extra support in school.

From the time I had realised they were different, I was supporting them and engaging with them myself alongside the school and the speech therapist. I had decided early on when I noticed their differences that I would re-train them so their rigid patterns would not interfere or reduce their life to eating the same food or walking the same path day after day.. Never wanting to go anywhere different or to eat anything different or to try anything other than what they always knew. Stuck in repeat patterns for the rest of their lives. I wanted for them to be independent free spirited adventurous beings with a zest for life and a capacity for boundless Love and exploration.

I turned to my doctor so I could get extra support and kept getting passed from one department to another who all told me I was in the wrong department. In frustration I decided I had had enough. I decided to keep doing what I was doing and go it alone, as by the age of 4 speech therapy had stopped and there was only minimal basic support in school at this time.

I treated the twins just as I treated my eldest child, able bodied and able minded. I instilled the same values in them as I did my eldest.. Taught ALL my children that they were highly intelligent evolved beings with a capacity for great things and that all they had to do was believe in themselves.. As I already did. That they could create anything and do anything they put their mind to. I reinforced and still do that they are amazing beings and are mega talented and super!

All of my children including the now 15 year old "autistic" twins (aside from their little quirks they still have) are highly intelligent, independent, talented, free thinking individuals. The twins, tho a little more gentler in nature than other children of the same age.. are as and in some ways more focused and evolved than others of the same age including many adults. For anyone who knew them when they were babies and young children, the difference is amazing. No one would ever believe they are/were autistic unless they knew them as young children and saw their progress.

I am sharing my experience for others and to say .. Take hope.. It's not the end of the world. Anything is possible if you can dream it and apply it. Never ever see your autistic child as disabled or as handicap.. See them as able minded, in fact more able minded than others in some ways.. Appreciate their differences and work with them.. Talk to them.. Appreciate them and explain things to them as you would any normal child and allow them to take the lead as you would any other child. Treat them as your shining children.

Dear Jane and Kathy, Thank You ever so much for the wonderful feedback. Should yourselves or anyone require any useful suggestions or tips please feel free to contact me. I do also have a website which I am unsure of if I am allowed to post it on here so I will not do so. It is not a website about autism, only one about loving parenting. In short it is exactly the way I parented and still do to this day.

I can be contacted on sadesadea [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk. I think that is acceptable.. I hope.. And understandable for some as I know we are not allowed to post emails on here too. If I have breached any rules apologies, not quite sure if I have.
