Infertility - Causes and Treatments

Approximately ten to fifteen percent of couples in the United States alone are affected by infertility. Infertility can be defined as an individual’s, male or female, inability to contribute to conception. Infertility in women may range from a woman’s inability to become pregnant to not being able to carry a child full term while infertility in men involves not being able to contribute viable sperm. In either case, the result is the couple’s inability to produce a child, which can be stressful and disappointing for both individuals involved.

The typical couple is able to achieve pregnancy within the first six months of trying to conceive. Within twelve months, nearly ninety percent of couples are able to conceive when having frequent, unprotected intercourse. The main sign of infertility is being unable to become pregnant. Infertility often exhibits no other obvious symptoms. IN some instances, a woman may experience irregular or absent periods. Very rarely, a man may exhibit signs of hormonal issues including changes in hair growth or sexual function.

Several factors contribute to infertility. Generally speaking, one-third of cases is caused by infertility of the male, one-third is caused by the female, and the remaining cases are caused by the male and female jointly. In any case, common causes of infertility include abnormal sperm production or function, problems with sperm delivery, overexposure to certain environmental factors and damage related to cancer. Infertility in women is often caused by ovulation disorders, uterine or cervical abnormalities, fallopian tube damage or blockage, endometriosis, ovarian insufficiency and pelvic adhesions. Additional causes of infertility in women include thyroid problems, cancer and its treatments, additional medical conditions and certain medications.

Natural Infertility Treatments

While infertility is a common issue, many infertility treatments are available that improve fertility and make getting pregnant possible. The body’s pH balance is an important factor in pregnancy. As such, balancing the pH is an effective solution for supporting fertility. Apple cider vinegar diluted in water is a natural way to balance pH. Additional treatment options include vitamin B12, barley green, dates, guaifensin, vitamin C and a combination of lime and baking soda. Eating a healthy, balanced and natural diet and staying active are also important elements for developing, maintaining and supporting fertility.

I would like to get preggers, but I don't even have periods. So at 10:30 on April 29, 10 I started taking two 1/4teaspoons of ACV in 16 ounces of water. Is that enough? How long should it take before I have a period? I also wanted to start takin tussin after my next period. Any and all help welcome.

EC: To our readers: Tussin is slang for Robitussin Cough Syrup.

I have been infertile for over 2 years. I suspected that the pH in my body wasn't right due to candida. I began taking 2 teaspoons of ACV mixed with a small amount of water and a small amount of honey twice per day. I also started adding one cup of ACV to my bath water at night. (I did this because I heard it helped with cellulite) I would then lay in the bath for 20-30 minutes while reading a book or magazine. After doing this for two months, I found out I was pregnant. I was shocked! I wasn't using the ACV to treat infertility, I was trying to rid my body of candida. I think the ACV brought my body to a more friendly pH for conception.

Thank you for the information on ACV and infertility. I started taking ACV once a day for slimming purposes, it was just a day after I had started my menses little did I know it was also going to help make my period days bearable. I usually experience heavy and painful menses sometimes with tissue like substances but, this time I haven't experienced any of these and today I am in my last day. With the information I now have I will continue take ACV no longer for slimming but for fighting infertility since I have been trying to conceive for the past 5 years. I will keep you posted after the trials.

Haley, have you already consider stop trying? Many years ago, after I had my first daughter I miscarried. After that I didn't manage to get pregnant again. There was nothing wrong with me so the doctor in my home country gave me this advice: "go back home to Holland, plant some tulips and in time you will be fine! ". At the time I laughed. The thing was, I did go back home and somehow he had taken the worry away. Without giving it another thought all of a sudden I was pregnant. Christiana is now 26 and after another miscarriage I had another daughter. Amy is now almost 23. So you see.... Trying too hard is often not the best solution! Nine years is a long time and no wonder you get more and more anxious but sometimes you just have to let it go. A long time ago I had a neighbour. She couldn't have children due to health problems so they went abroad and adopted a little girl. That child was still small when she got pregnant naturally. Again you see that as soon as she had other things on her mind she did get pregnant. I don't quite believe in all the complicated solutions they have nowadays when a couple can't conceive and research has shown that the problems are very often connected to psycological problems, smoking, drinking or nutrition problems! Maybe the day you decided that you can have a perfectly happy life without children it will happen!

In 2010 I was pregnant and lost the baby. I'm reading about the ACV so I'm taking that to see if that would help; my periods are regular, but do I have to take robitussin also.

I hear about this a lot. A couple adopts and then gets pregnant naturally. I think it's due to improvement in diet from feeding a child, a good diet and added exercise from chasing after a toddler.

I just came across this claim that ACV works for fertility. Well, I wasn't taking it for that reason, but when I started taking it, I found out I was pregnant about a month later! I had been trying to get pregnant for 7 months prior to that. I love ACV!

I had thought that it might be the apple cider vinegar that helped with those sort of problems, but I've come to see the problem as bigger. I had been eating poorly, and then I changed, and started supplementing more, eating better salt, bathing in epsom salt, (magnesium) and also used a progesterone cream after that. I don't know what helped more the first time trying to get pregnant, but I have found twice now that the only thing I've changed both times when I was struggling with infertility, was starting to use a natural progesterone cream. If you have any pain or PMS symptoms, it will help that too.

I want to share my experience with this amazing organic apple cider vinegar in my life. I been married for almost 3 years now. For 2 years I suffered yeast infection, thick endometrium, cyst on my right ovary and infertility. While searching for an alternative remedy. I discovered apple cider vinegar when my husbands friend who works in a health food store had given us boxes of vitamins. In the box there was some bottles of ACV capsules and I tried for a couple of months and began noticing results. Then I searched on the net and found this site after that we started taking the liquid form, apple cider vinegar, for 2 and half years with great results. My thick endometrium healed, yeast infection is gone as well as the cyst.

The best part is it cured my infertility problem. I was having difficulty in getting pregnant. My Dr. gave me an ultimatum, "get pregnant in 3 months or I will take matters into my hands". I recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl! My husband and I still continue taking apple cider vinegar for maintaining blood pressure and weight.

I just want to share to everyone my experience with organic ACV. I'm 37 y.o. And been ttc but to no avail. My cycle have been irregular. Like 50 days or more. I was also suffering from fishy smell down there. When I learned about ACV, I tried it and within a few days of taking it day and night after meal (2 tbsp in 1 glass of water) the annoying smell went away. Not only that, within 6 months of religiously taking it, my cycle began improving. I immediately know right away my fertile and ovulation days. Now over a year later (husband is always away overseas, it's only now that we had a chance to try for a baby), I have missed my period for 4 days now with signs similar to an early pregnancy. I have not tested yet but I am very positive this time that I will get my BFP :-)! I hope this helps everyone who are desperate to have a baby. :-)

I have suffered from painful ovulation and also irregular periods and many misscarriages. I monthly chart and know what's been going on for years in my cycle. I have been taking ACV for a little over a week, and for the first time, my ovulatory pain was walkable and only an hour. . .as opposed to a day in bed. Plus, it was less than 1 week after my period, instead of 2 weeks plus. This is crazy! I also have taken molasses for period pain, but not for long and then I ran out after less than a week. I may have found it helped with my infertility as well, but I figured I needed to heal from my last misscarriage before attempting again. We will see next month, and what my next period will be like (usually another day in bed). . .will keep you posted.

To Angela from Tonasket: For all those menstrual problems, have you considered that you (like many of us) might be running low on magnesium. Dr. Mark Sircus has written an excellent article (available on line) "Transdermal Magnesium" on what magnesium does in our bodies. He states that research shows that in cavemen days the ration of calcium to magnesium was 5:1, but now it is more like l5:l which makes it highly unlikely that any of us are getting his recommended l000 mgms. per day needed to just keep up with the demands of our bodies. Another good way to apply his transdermal magnesium is buying a 2 lb. box of it at the dollalr stores and putting abut a pound of it in your bath and take a good, relaxing bath.

I must say when I heard about Apple Cider Vinegar I was curious. I went out the same day and purchased a bottle. I'm a type 2 diabetic and I must say that I feel a lot better since taking it, my monthly cycle has changed to a more normal cyle. It used to be very heavy the first two days...no more.

I also started the pulling oil...that too is great. My mouth feels so clean all day. Just started it so I haven't really seen anything major, but I will report back. Thanks Earthclinic.

Reply for Tracey: I put my Daughter on ACV to help with her PCO. The first thing that she noticed was for the first time since her Periods started they were regular and she would start on the exact day she was due. She takes 2 tablespoons in 6 oz of water or orange juice twice a day, once before breakfast and once before her evening meal. I would have liked her to take it 3 times a day but its diffucult with the job that she does to do the lunchtime one.

Answer to Vinnie in Canada: Raw Apple Cider vinegar. Raw is the key and in the US, _____s is the easiest brand to find and usually in a health food store for sure. If you can't find any, ask the retailer to find and stock raw apple cider vinegar(they usually will) or google _____s vinegar and you should be able to order from them. 1-2 T vinegar with 1/4-1/2 t. Bicarbonate of soda/baking soda in 4 oz. Water. Put it in a tall glass because it fizzes. Once it settles down, drink 2-3 times a day. It tastes like light beer to me.......... LOL just think beer, it makes it seem good. I like it anyway :) Hope you can obtain it. The benefits are legion!!

Hi there!!! I'm 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS at 16. The dr said I was going to have problems getting pregnant. Well, here I am, married to a wonderful man and have gone thru 3 fertilitily treatments already and an emotional roller coaster... We want to start a healthy family yet I do not mentruate at all unless on progesterone or birth control pills. I have always been interested in the holistic approach to fertility yet I thought it would happen faster if I turned for help from an infertility specialist. Well since that didnt work I don't want to give up and wanted to know what will work for me? Is it the ACV? I'm healthy all around and active, yet I don't menstruate on my own. If any one out there can help I'd greatly appreciate it and wish everyone lots of luck for those trying!

I began taking ACV to help my acne. I would take a shot of it before bed. I'm not sure how long I had been taking it before I discovered I was pregnant. I recently got rid of a hemorraghic cyst by using castor oil packs over my abdomen area and putting a heating pad over it for a couple of hours for 2 nights. On the third morning I felt it dissolve as I felt a slight burning sensation in my stomach. Ladies, for those of you having issues with cysts, infertility, pcos and have tried or maybe considering ivf please read the book about making babies. I can't really say the title here but it's written by a well known, in demand dr who uses both western and eastern, holistic approach. I just finished reading it and i'm completely amazed by it. Many women TTC for years even after failed ivf have followed his advice and have become pregnant. The doctor's name is Sami. I'm hoping this is helpful as I came on here a couple of weeks ago looking for something for my cyst and found out about the castor oil packs which I feel helped out in getting rid of my cyst. Thanks Earthclinic!

Hi Reshall ; Vitamin B12 is necessary for fertility; for implantation of the fertilized egg, for carrying the fetus to term, and for producing a baby with a strong immune system as well as a neurological system. It is also necessary for male fertility, (sperm count, motility, and erectile function). Foods often associated with fertility ; such as liver, oysters, and clams, are very high in B12.

Yes, you can take barley green during pregnancy. It is a food. It is young barley grass, juiced and dried. The brand I used has kelp in it too. My aunt used the AIM brand. It is more potent than powdered whole barley grass since it is dehydrated juice. I'm not sure about getting it in India, but I know people that grow and juice their own barley and wheat grass.

BTW when I took barley green I quit being car sick, also I felt the same as I did on Ritalin - clear minded and focused. My sister takes it religiously (she has 4 small children) and when she skips for a few days she starts feeling tired.

I also have a irregular menstral period and doctors has told me that I need to regulate my menstral period first before I can even get pregnant. So I am still drinking my barley and hopefully I'll get preganant any month now. I will keep all of you update. I pray that god will answer my prayer. Something has changed about me and it is a good change. I have also inform by the doctor to lose weight. Since I took this green barley, I have lost my apetite. Because usually I always eat everytime when I feel like eating but now its like I don't have an apetite for food everytime. Sometimes I forgot that I didn't eat for the whole day from work. So I just eat something because I'm scared that something might happen to me from not eating anything for the whole thing. This Barley has really helped me to lose weight and hopefully it will regular my menstral period and make me pregnant.

Hi there, I'm surprised chaste tree has not been mentioned as it is such a popular natural remedy for conceiving. Anyhow, here's my story.

A few years back, my husband and I were trying to become pregnant. We tried for four years and were on the brink of giving up as I was nearly 40 by then. We visited a fertility naturopath, who put me on chaste tree berry in liquid form, to drink once a day. It tastes beyond vile. Anyway, she said to drink it every day for two months and to NOT try to become pregnant in that time as it can cause a miscarriage. We foolishly didn't listen, tried in the second month, conceived and miscarried shortly after. We gave it another month, and when the naturopath said to try again, we did and fell pregnant immediately. It was a miracle! Our gorgeous son is now 8 years old. :)

I also recommended her to my SIL and best friend, and they both became pregnant. So our kids are all now the same age, as an added bonus. Good luck everyone, it is such a hard journey xo

After reading a lot of articles about dealing with gallstones in the USA, I found out that a little is mentioned, or not at all, about laser surgery that has been for long time in practice in european countries for removing gallstones. Ask your doctor about it... Also, a very good remedy for lowering or getting rid of a bad cholesterol is a homemade apple vinegar. It tastes like an apple cider, just it's very sour. If you have a chance to come across a book of bosnian homemade remedies, get it! Also, dates are very good fruit for the women who cannot get pregnant.

I used Guaifenesin twice to get pregnant after trying for five years. Take your temp every morning. Determine your ovulation schedule. Take Robetussin like the label suggests beginning a few days before ovulation begins and continuing for 4-5 days. It will increase cervical mucus thus increasing the chances the little sperm will swim well! Worked for me!

I used the ovulation calculator on babyhopes.com and calculated the days I was fertile and very fertile. The day after my period ended I started taking 2 tbsp of robitussin (it was actually the walmart brand, because it has to be the plain robitussin, no letters afterwards) each night before bed. The day I was very fertile happened to be April 16th, a saturday. I had sex that evening and then again that night (I had been taking the robitussin each night, including that saturday). My day to ovulate was that sunday. I waited until the day I was predicted to have my period, no period. I did spot two days prior to my predicted period, very light and only noticed it because it was on the tissue after I wiped. I'm thinking this was the the fertilized egg entering the uterus. I took a pregnancy test on May 3rd, a day after my period was expected. I'm pregnant! I have PCOS and getting pregnant is nearly impossible, but this worked on my first try. I hope anyone can benefit from my personal experience. Good luck to anyone who is willing to try this method. I must add that I prayed and nagged God like crazy too, lol.

My husband and I had been trying to conceive for quite some time. I definitely didn't want to take any fertility drugs or go the invitro route. A co-worker had recommended Robitussin and said she had the same problems getting pregnant and she ended up with twins so I said what have we got to loose. No more than 3 weeks after trying a popular brand of cough syrup, (Robitussin), 1 TBS at night before bed. (Not to mention something else before bed that helped with the process!!) We went to the doctor's to discuss fertility drugs 2 months later as the next step, since we were both getting older. He came in the room and tore up the prescription he had written and said I couldn't take them because I was already pregnant (8 weeks)!! After trying for so long with not results, I knew what it was. It thinned out ALL the mucous membranes in my body. I believe the Guaifenesin increased our chance of getting pregnant along with prayer and agreement from my husband.

Finally i started drinking Robitussin ( the liquid form) regular kind not he ones that have the letters after them, just Robitussin in the daytime after i ate, i would take 2 spoons and at night i took the evening primrose gel caps along with sex from my husband. After that i would put a pillow under my hips and go to sleep. I only took these remedies for less than a month which i didn't need to take any more because i became pregnant and now im 6 months pregnant and my baby is healthy so far. It was unbelievable how for 6 years i wasn't able to conceive and after trying these remedies less than a month i'm pregnant. Hope this helps someone cause it sure did help me!!!!

Guaifenesin treats congestion, cold, flu, bronchitis, sinus infections, and may increase chances of pregnancy (obviously not the case for males). Guaifenesin, available in many OTC cough syrups (tussin) is also available in tablets (mucinex) or available in generic form from many online pharmacies or health-food stores. The suggested dose is 400 - 1200 mg no more than twice daily. Guaifenesin is an expectorant -- so, take it with PLENTY of water. It thins the mucous membranes in the body -- NOT just the lungs or throat, but the ENTIRE (ENTIRE) body. you'll probably cough a bit more than usual for the first couple days -- that's GOOD -- you're getting rid of all the extra CRAP that shouldn't be there, in the first place. I have Asthma and Allergies (as well as a chronic sinus infection) I take loratadine, advair, singulair, benadryl, and albuterol. They work -- a little -- all together . . . but if I miss my guaifenesin -- I can definitely tell. It's rumored that it's also a useful remedy for CFS. Be careful, though -- guaifenesin can cause an increase in blood pressure -- so take it with PLENTY ( I cannot stress that enough ) PLENTY!!! of water!

Dear Magdababy02,

Guaifenesin will not cause ovulation to happen. Guaifenesin works to thicken the mucus in the body, which is helpful to some who have fertility problems, but only if they are already ovulating. You say you do not have regular periods, do you have any periods? Do you know the cause of the irregularity (or lack) of periods? If you know the cause, it might be easier to find a solution.

I am hopeful that there are some natural solutions that will help you!

According to Mirriam Webester, an "expectorant" is "an agent that promotes the discharge or expulsion of mucus from the respiratory tract; broadly : an antitussive agent". More likely, guanfenison works because it increases and thins the fluid in the cervix allowing the sperm to more easily contact the egg. Rather than thickening the fluid.

I can't be the first person who's thought this, but... In an uncircumcised man, the foreskin would (I assume) surround the cervix during intercourse so that semen is placed directly into the cervix, rather than into the vagina next to the cervix. Thereby facilitating fertilization.

Maybe it's time to quit... mutilating... boys?

Secondary infertility remedy help requested... My first took just shy of a year to conceive. She is 18 months and still breastfeeding (but not very much). (BTW hoping for twins). I am going to try the Apple cider vinegar. I am already taking prenatal vitamins, and fish oil.

I heard it is a plus that I am breast feeding since it causes multiple eggs to drop. Twinning runs on my Mother's side of the family. (Mom was a twin, sister was pregnant with twins but one passed away.)

Anybody have input? Anyone else currently having this problem? OH and my menses are totally regular, come on the same day every month. Only exception is they are very heavy, probably due to Anemia, which I'm sure is affecting my fertility. Thanks everybody.

Dear Ted,

Two weeks after being on the lime/bakingsoda/ drink I got pregnant. I have always know I was too acidic. I have been for years, but did not know it was affecting my infertility. I had been infertile for 6 years. I am implementing more of a natural alkalinizing (greens) now.

My question. If my urine starts showing acidity again, I am concerned of loosing the baby. I will want to do the alkalinizing boost with the drink. Do you think the lime/bakingsoda/ mix is safe during pregnancy?

Linda

Dear Linda:

Congratulations about your pregnancy!

Drinking lemon and baking soda is fine whenever you need to get the pH normal and when it's normal, it's puts less stress on the kidneys in general. So whenever the urine becomes acid, it's best to get them in normal parameters.

How do you know when your urine is acid? Actually how do we know our body is acid? I used to eat lot of meat, not enough veggie, and I am prone to acne? Am I acid?

can u plz tell me the accurate quantity of lime and baking soda

EC: Per Ted's post on the alkalizing formulas page: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/alkalizing_formulas.html

The Lime Bicarbonate Formula
The lime formula is the one I actually used in Bangkok and all measurements that normalized many biological parameters were based on lime formula. The reason is simple: lemon is non-existent in Bangkok. We use only lime. One whole lime freshly squeezed. Keep adding baking soda slowly bit by bit until the fizz stops. Then you will add water to one half glass. This is often taken either twice a day on an empty stomach, once in the morning and once before bedtime.

Note: Basically, lemon/lime juice idea is also good for people who fear some sodium retention issues. Since the lemon is already high on potassium, adding the sodium to neutralize the acid along the way will also create a sodium potassium balance.

Ted, I was able to hold the baby in womb for three months, but then lost it. Have gotten pregnant two more times with continuing to alkalinize. Just can not seem to keep them. I am told that I probably need high doses of progesterone. Have you heard of ways to do this naturally?

Dear Linda:

I am sorry to hear the baby wouldn't hold.

I was almost a victim of miscarriage when my mother was pregnant with me. As my mother had a miscarriage before. The miscarriage was avoided at the time when my mother had an unusual craving for oranges, of all things, which contains vitamin C. Before that the baby simply wouldn't hold. She went to the toilet and the baby just came out. It wasn't anything like an accident or a trauma. My mother wasn't lucky either as during her pregnancy with me inside and she was I believe a several months pregnant anyway, my father was riding a motorcycle in the mountains and happens to stop the brakes too quickly that my mother fell down the mountains 30 or 40 feet down a very steep mountain and rolling over, with me inside. Surely she should have had a miscarriage and the baby wouldn't hold. What stopped the miscarriage was the vitamin C. If a women wishes to hold a baby, it is very important that vitamin C is needed. What the vitamin C does it causes the baby to hold. Collagen is what holds the baby, and vitamin C is needed for the collagen production required to convert lysine and proline into hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline, which is a major component of the collagen. The other amino acid is glycine. So collagen is actually made up of primarily glycine, lysine and proline. The vitamin C is needed for their conversion. To help reduce miscarriage therefore at least 1000 mg of lysine, 1000 mg of proline and 2000 mg of glycine amino acid a day, plus 1000 mg of vitamin C two or three times a day, I believe is sufficient for the baby to hold.

As a person gets older, the chances of pregnancy is reduced. However, you can actually buy time, by taking magnesium and baking soda, with vitamin B complex, and this is very important. I heard of cows in Australia that can still have calves even if they are at a ripe old age of 50+ in human years, as their drinking water were rich in magnesium and bicarbonates, hence this is where the baking soda and magnesium comes in. As far as vitamin B complex, it is synergistic with magnesium, especially the B6. In fact women who are pregnant loses appetite and one common practice is to give pregnant mothers B6. However, a lot of childhood defects is due to lack of certain vitamin Bs, which can cause miscarriage, and folic acid and B12 is just as important as well as other vitamin Bs. People get easily deficient in water soluble vitamins such as vitamin C and vitamin B, but this is especially true for pregnant mothers. Magnesium and bicarbonates in baking soda is one overlooked one for pregnant mothers. As far as getting pregnant easier, I believe once a day glycine 1000 mg and once a week borax at 1/8 teaspoon once a week is helpful. I seen too many pregnancy from people taking this supplements, but luckily for all of them wishes they all are married and wishes to have a child. The glycine and borax thing works both men and women, and it increases the chance of pregnancy when both parties take them. On men's side it increases sperm count and volume, and women it increases their hormones to normal levels, while the glycine blocks free radicals from free fatty acids that blocks sex hormones.

It is most important also to avoid certain products that prevents pregnancy, such as peppermint oil (estrogenic properties), fluoridated toothpaste, chlorinated water and MMS (miracle mineral supplement, which is actually a chlorine based product - you can test this with a chlorine paper test).

You may need hormone testing, via spit method where it will determine your estrogen/progesterone balance, as well as other components of your hormone make up. I had two miscarriages many years ago when testing was not readily available. When I finally had testing, it had a close to zero count on the progesterone. I use a hormone cream made for me everyday and it is life-changing. Find a nurse-midwife or naturopathic doctor who can get you a test kit. Or you can contact zrt labs; costs $30 a test, I think, that is $30 for progesterone, $30 for estrogen, etc. Worth every penny.

Hi Ted,

please can lemon juice and baking soda cure low sperm count and low sperm motility or can it be a solution to the cure of hormonal imbalances?

Vitamin B6

There was a study done on infertility in women. Nearly all of them had fibroids, endometriosis or cysts, including thick lining of the uterine wall. They all went on a higher dosage of vitamin B6, at least 100 mg/day (average size 125-150 lbs). Some were placed on much higher dosages. Only one did not get pregnant (she quit the program, and they didn't know what happened with her) within the year. In all of them, the fibroids, cysts, etc. began diminishing in size. The doctor that did the study felt that if he were to continue the study, that the cysts, etc. would completely go away. This has also worked for me. I used to have a cycle of 24 days, after a few months of B6, each month the period would become longer, until now it is at 28-30 days.

EC: While searching for the study Ronda was referring to, we came across an interesting site listing pubmed studies on B6 relating to pregnancy, miscarriage and infertility that folks might want to also check out: http://sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/vitamins-and-miscarriage/vitamin-b6

Dear Ronda,

Thanks for sharing! That is fascinating.

It makes me wonder if that is why Blackstrap Molasses helps some of those problems as it does provide some B6.

Hello, my hubby and I have been trying for a baby for 4years now. I have always had irregular periods and at times I would miss my period for up to 3months at a time. On top of that I was recently informed of a cyst on my left ovary. My doctor prescribed me Provera, it was a 7day dose 1 pill per day at the same time. I started them immediately and my period came 7 days later as my Dr said and my period has been regular ever since I feel as though I am on track and I am now able to track my ovulation, something I have never been able to do. Thank God. Ask your doctor for provera to regulate your cycle. You are in my prayers please keep me in yours.

One common cause of infertility is that the eggs do not stick to fallopian walls, in that case taking some vitamin C in form of sodium ascorbate will help this problem.

Most of the women on this particular forum have raised issues about immediate pregnancy. In my case, my darling is in the military and is currently abroad, when he is home we are just so happy to see each other that anything but enjoying each other company is the furthest thing from our mind. We want to have children (we are manifesting twins), so I would like to know when I should start doing these regimens. In particular, what natural alternatives should I utilize to prep for a pregnancy, to get pregnant, and then to keep the baby. It would be awesome if you can list where to get the products too. We appreciate your feedback.

Hi Holachola - Here's an article entitled "No-Nonsense Guide to a Naturally Healthy Pregnancy and Baby" by Dr. Joseph Mercola.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/11/07/No-Nonsense-Guide-to-a-Naturally-Healthy-Pregnancy-and-Baby.aspx

It's about eating the right foods, taking the correct vitamins, exercise, etc. There is more information on his Web site - just type pregnancy in his search engine.

It's a joyous journey you are about to embark on - good luck to you and your husband! Cheers, Bess

If I were going give someone advice on preparing to have a baby I would say take Iodine (Lugols). Iodine raises a baby's IQ level so you will have a smart baby. It will also protect the baby from autism and learning difficulties.. Many people are now saying autism is magnesium and iodine deficiency related.

It is needed for the mother as well.. For the uterus, breasts, thyroid and many, many other parts of the body. It also stops miscarriages according to what I have read.

Research it yourself. Don't just take people's word for what you should take... You may get incorrect advice and that could harm any baby you may have.

Hi, I had ectopic pregnancy this year of January and they have to removed the right side of my fallopian tube because of the damage. My husband and I been TTC for almost a year now but no luck. I have always been irregular since we got married 2009. Since I had my surgery last January I have gotten my period every month til Sept. I didn't have my period for 2 months now and I took pregnancy test at home and it's all negative. Now I'm confused when do I ovulate again? I didn't even know what is my cycle. Is there anyone would help me what to do and get pregnant. I'm so depressed right now.

Hi! I think Ted was recommending vitamin c as an ectopic pregnancy preventative.

No more than 3,000 mg per day while pregnant.

An ectopic pregnancy is a life threatening emergency and medical help is necessary. It would be too late for vitamin c to help once an ectopic pregnancy exists.
