Oh my I can't believe iodine as a cure for psoriasis is not on this site. My sister came to visit for a week earlier this month. She was covered in psoriasis scales on her elbow, knees, wrist and inside the palm of her hand, also with scratches and lesions from scratching herself. I was shocked to see how aweful it had gotten since the last time we visited. She had been to Drs and Dermatoligists and spent thousands of dollars and no help. She spent hundreds on single tubes of cream that didnt even stop the itch let alone get rid of her psoriasis.

I had just started on Lugol's solution for my own symptoms of low iodine ie no energy and hair falling out... So I told her about the lugols and mentioned that in my reading about it, I heard it could help Psoriasis! She agreed to try it and started putting it on, after a couple of hours she stared at me in disbelief stating she had not itched or scratched since putting it on so put it on again. She and I were both excited the next day when here psoriasis was 50% gone! Needless to say by the end of the week all she had was a small patch where it was the worst on her wrist and probably due to the fact that she didnt use it as much the last couple of days because she didnt want the discoloration on her wrist when we went out for the evening! I'm still in shock that nothing helped her for years and in one week she's 95% cured of Psoriasis!! I sent the bottle home with her and she continues to improve...

I just hope this helps someone since I saw it with my own eyes how beneficial even 2% Lugol's solution is. I imagine the 5% will work even faster but it did work for her maybe you too:)

PS She did take a couple of drops in water each day as well as topically!

I hope you're following the procedures for iodine supplementation. As iodine replaces bromine in your system, it leaves the bromine to float free in your bloodstream and it does some very bad stuff to you if you let it build up. For me, I was craving so much salt it was ridiculous and I was feeling more and more run down. I went to my functional medicine doctor and told him I thought it was possibly bromine detox. It turns out it was interfering with my body's utilization of magnesium. That is a pretty serious consequence. You can't foot with bromine detox. However, it is pretty simple to deal with. You must ingest chloride (in the form of unprocessed sea salt or, if your sodium sensative, I saw that ConcenTrace Trace Mineral drops contains a decent amount of chloride. ) If you don't already have it, search for a document called "The Guide to Supplementing with Iodine." It has some great tips for dealing with all the concequences of iodine supplementation. I found it here: http://home.comcast.net/~jocy1/junk/The Guide to Supplementing with Iodine.pdf

FYI: The ultimate cause of psoriasis (and many degenerative diseases) is leaky gut (resulting from poor diet and excessive toxicity. ) A functional medicine doctor will help heal your sister from the inside starting with, I presume, cleaning up the gut (getting rid of infection) and working to kill off the systemic candida (fungus) in her bloodstream, etc. (I've been working on cleaning up my system for the past year and the number of changes are immense! ) I wish you both luck!!!

Suffering from severe psoriasis since 2009, mayo has given me so many drugs to try and steroids none of which gets to the root of the problem, lost alot of work over this condition. What did they give you to kill off systemic canida(fungas) in the bloodstream? and is there a functional Dr.in dermatology? making homemade salves they feel good but need to get to the root of this problem asap. I refuse drug therapy cuz it causes problems with your organs. At least once a yr end up in the hospital for 2-3 days being wrapped up like a mummy, with steroids and vanicream. This calms the condition but does not take it out of my body. Gonna find out what test they need to do for fungas. Wish me luck.

Hey Karen. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE), is great for addressing fungus issues. Some have reported noticing results starting within minutes and I cleared up a spreading fungal infection (both the spreading and the original infection site) completely within a few days. All traces are gone. You can check on line for more information on GSE but I think it is a very easy and safe thing to try.

Thank you SO MUCH for the info on iodine and on bromine detox! I have only got tiny spots of psoriasis in the 48th year of my life. Popping open a capsule of vitamin D3, and applying it would provide relief, and heal it. But this latest spot on my eyelid has been a really bad problem that would not go away. AND it came up as soon as I started iodine supplementation, for the first time since moving the farthest north I have lived in my life (Chicago suburbs).

So I read the PDF Guide to Supplementing With Iodine which you provided. And then I went and took 1/2 tsp of sea salt in some water, and then drank as much fresh water as that made me need. Also, I had quit taking iodine for a couple of days, as I noticed it made the psoriasis flare up way worse. Finally, my eyelid is mostly healed up! In ONE DAY! The PDF says that the chloride part of sodium chloride (salt) binds to the bromide that the iodine supplementation set free, and then the bromide (which was causing the psoriasis, as my body was trying to detox it) gets peed out.

I had no idea that bromide is probably causing me so many health problems. The PDF says iodine is needed in all the organs in our bodies, especially the ones with mucous linings. I think this also solved my HORRIBLE acid reflux problem. The acid reflux is suddenly gone, after one tsp of salt, too. Here's my logic on why: Acid reflux is caused by a bad bacterial overgrowth in the stomach, which weakens the sphincter and lets the acid out into the esophagus. Iodine kills bad bacteria, but leaves the beneficial bacteria. But iodine couldn't help my stomach until I took the salt that removed the bromide, or bromine, or whatever form that stuff was in.

I have psoriasis behind my ears and at times it weeps and is so painful. Having had it for at least 10 years I tried cortisone in the early days but my inner instinct turned me off it very quickly. I've tried all sorts of so-called remedies since then. On this site recently I read somewhere about Jojoba oil and have used it with great success on my psoriasis. It is so soothing and clears it up within a couple of days. If I miss a day, however, it returns, but not as bad as previously. Although the Jojoba oil isn't a permanent cure-all it's the best I've used. The extra virgin or virgin is the best and you can buy it from any health store. Another bonus: it's absolutely beautiful on your face and body, is inexpensive and goes a long way as well.

Psoriasis:

Green juice, milk thistle and exercise. I was covered in it, started juicing and blending, eating tons of milk thistle and mine cleared up for years. When I stop, it's back. Lidex ointment, not cream, is what I was prescribed as a child, but its a steroid. It works but not healthy long term. :}

I'm looking for advise on what supplements to take for psoriasis and possible pcos. I have not been officially diagnosed with Pcos but I have many of the symptoms including issues with facial hair, fatigue etc. Two years ago I gave up drinking alcohol and adopted a healthier lifestyle including exercising every day etc. My skin had never been better, pretty much all traces of psoriasis vanished (the poss pcos symptoms stayed the same). All of a sudden last year at precisely the time my hay fever erupted I had a huge outbreak of psoriasis (possibly guttate).

This has mostly cleared up after many months but a few patches remain and where my skin was badly affected. I now have discoloured marks where there is little or no pigment. I'm really interested in addressing these issues and I think there must be an autoimmune system link with them all. Can you suggest anything to try and keep another psoriatic episode at bay and get rid of the remaining psoriasis? If it helps the other issues then that would be a huge bonus.

Thank you so much for your time.

I had good results with this supplement taking it multiple times per day. https://amzn.to/2Dl8VFM

I also took some capsules and emptied two capsules into one ounce of body lotion and mixed it and applied this mixed lotion directly to any plaques.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

Not sure this will help anyone .. but here goes .. I have had psoriasis for quite a while .. first time for about four years and then gone for four year and this time for two .. they say that it is brought on by stress .. maybe so .. but I think if you have other issues .. and I think my grandfather had it and my son has had it .. but his I think has been exasperated by drinking .. the first time I changed my diet and added good oils to my diet and did a cleanse .. I also used prayer for my terrible itching. I found that the shots and cortisone helped only for a while .. including the shots .. it only masked the real issue .. I think it has to do with leaky gut and food allergies .. keto helps a lot but not completely.. lecithin has helped in the past might try again I'm also going to try doing more magnesium and zinc.

For me Apple cider vinegar and coconut oil only help for a little bit. Cracking and burning and itching drive me nuts and nothing seems to really help for any length of time. can go four weeks with splitting hands and peeling. I can't use my hands to having four days of nice hands. I think the things I am going to try to do another cleanse and try to work on my liver and go back on keto and possibly work on my kidneys cause I've always had issues with my kidneys. Apple cider vinegar has the yeast from the mother and baking soda helps. So I'll probably start bathing with baking soda and finishing with vinegar and then doing the olive oil again which seemed to help. The other thing that helps a lot are cold showers.. maybe that will help people I don't know everybody's different..

Psoriatic patches on face and thigh

My daughter had (HAD) psoriatic red patches on her face, thigh, and arm. We tried many methods and of course, the DR did nothing. We did not want to introduce antibiotics only topical. We tried Retin-A and everything else in between. What finally took care of it was one or a combination of the following...

  • MG-217 psoriasis(coal tar) multisymptom ointment over the counter at your local Walgreens or CVS,
  • Hyaluronic acid beauty cream from Vitamin world,
  • NOW brand tea tree oil,
  • Uncle Harry's spearmint toothpaste.

What really I believed helped after using the previous for about 1 to 2 weeks alternating was putting Elmer's glue on at night time which starves the area from oxygen. Also, Dog licks can help which my daughter said the dog liked to lick her arm.

Eucerin lotion if it gets too dry or itchy. Use sparingly so it can heal. Any q's please ask. Good vibes.

Yes, homeopathy has many good Remedies like lycopodium and others used successfully on psoriasis. Two others are minerals cuprum or copper met. 6 th potency to 30 th. and zinc. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33505136/

l read this med study and remember reading about these good remedies for psoriasis in the homeopathic materia medica published in 1927 by two MDs.
Those who dealt with the 12 Chief minerals in the body recommend for psoriasis Kali sulph 3X or 6 X the 3 X or 6X potency. Some added in rotation Kali mur 6X (which they also present for shingles).

l have my clients start with low potency say, 3X or 6X then after two or three weeks move to 12X. If the skin is improving stop if it continues. If there is improvement slows or even reverses then take three days a week MWF prior to sleep.Take under tongue.
In homeopathy lf it gets worse stop. When it subsides take MWF and observe.
I would take cuprum or copper 6X first.
Those whom refuse homeopathy can try colloidal copper. Search Amazon for a good copper. Don't know if l can give a brand here so just read up. Fill a small bottle with a mist pump and used on skin and scalp as well as orally. Follow directions on product label. Three pumps is a dose.
Wonderful for skin makes it appear younger! The appearance of Wrinkles are reduced too.
As to Lycopodium 6X MWF at bedtime every other week.

Lycopodium good for hair and skin. Vary dosages. Don't take too frequently. I just gave a guideline. You can take every three weeks or 4 then stop for a few days. Suggestions. Homeopathics are by nature time releasers then continue to work after you cease for awhile.

A good bath for skin is Epsom salts, magnesium flakes, baking soda and Dead Sea salts, apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup. Follow labels.

ALWAYS shower with a good filter. You can fill your tub with filtered water! The chemicals cause many negative conditions.Use a good anti psoriasis shampoo and conditioner.

I had psoriasis over 75% of my body and thought I would never get rid of it. Tried all the natural things I researched to no avail. Finally I went almost all green with salads, smoothies and a little meat protein (which my body seems to need). I also used Diflucan for a month to kill candida and topically I used Fluocinonide until psoriasis dried up. I realize these two things are not natural but after over a year with psoriasis I was ready (and desperate enough) to try anything! Now I try to stay as alkaline as possible using 1/4 tsp baking soda in glass of water on waking, one hour after lunch and before bed (I add iodine to evening dose). I also take with each each meal Betaine HCL with Pepsin (650 mg). Amazingly, after taking the HCL my food allergies have disappeared. I had suffered with food allergies for years and used Benedryl every night. I just wanted to report what worked for me in hope that someone else can be relieved of their debilitating psoriasis and food allergies. I plan on using other alkalizing methods besides the baking soda to not have any side effects from long term use of BS. I just feel it's the right thing to do for my body.

I have suffered from Psoriasis for about 10 yrs.. since I was about 13- 14 yrs. old, covering about 70% of my body. I have tried all topical treatments and never really had my condition under control. I have gone natural for almost a yr. (in jan) and have seen more consistent results naturally than with the medications. I started to do a lot of research on what may cause Psoriasis and the first thing I read was that it may be caused by an overgrowth of candida, which then is caused by an overconsumption of sugar that feeds the bacteria. Unfortunately, almost all food products have some sort of sugar in them; but I have gone almost completely gluten free (breads are composed of a lot of sugar if you read the labels). I have tried to cure from the inside out with my diet and eating lots of foods enriched in Vitmins A, C, & E, which are all essential for healthy skin. Vitamin A:(berries, sweet potatoes, carrots, peppers) Vitamin C (kiwi, oranges, papaya, peppers, broccoli) & Vitamin E (various nuts: almonds, peanuts, ect./ avacadoes, cucumbers, spinach).

As for topically, I put either coconut oil or avocado oil directly on it. I also started using a topical from the marijuana dispensary which the ingredients are all natural and you can make at home if wanted (rosemary, cocoa butter, shea butter, cannabis infused avocado oil, jojoba oil, primrose oil, olive oil, hemp oil, and an essential oil)

Sorry for the long post, but I am very fascinated and intrigued that I am coming to find I am able to cure myself, when I have been suffering for 10 yrs. It definitely takes patience and dedication to see results, but once you have your Psoriasis controlled for the first few months with a strict diet, it will be easier and won't need as much maintenance down the road.

i have had psoriasis on my face since I was a kid. I still am not quite sure what triggered it or what caused it to fluxuate beween bad and really bad but about 2 years ago I found an online clinic that claimed a high success rate in healing different skin conditions. It was a treatment that an epideiologist came up with and was different thatn any dermotologist that I have been to.

Anyways they put me on a 90 day treatment which consisted of no sugar or alcohol for the first 8 weeks, I washed my face 3x's a day with a mild, non-antibacterial fragrance free soap, basically just the really cheep hand soap from any grocery store. After I washed I let my face air dry, they said not to use a towel because it can reinfect the skin. Then I would spray on the scs solution they gave me which was safe and has no side effects unless you have some kind of sensitivity to it. I also took primadophilus to get rid of yeast, and milk thistle extract to clease my liver and colon, they also gave me some medication to cleanse the blood stream. I was clear of the irritating symptoms within a few weeks and I continue to watch my skin get softer and softer. It was awsome. I hope this helps someone.

Multiple Remedies

A combo of treatments: Essiac, Apple Cidar Vinegar, Lavender & Chamomile Body Butter and Salt Water Soaks did the trick for me.

I developed psorisis on my legs and arms in late December/early January. I had an extremly stressful fall and December, which I would guess was the fuel that lit this fire..

It was extremly bad on my right leg and covered my leg from ankle to knee. If it wasn't itching unbearably, it was burning. I couldn't wear socks and had to roll my pants up to my knee because I couldn't stand for anything to touch it. At first I was using hydrocortisone cream on it, which did relieve the itching, but wasn't healing it.. After a few weeks, I started worrying about what was actually in hydrocortisone cream. I did a search on it and found out I didn't want to continue using that and having those chemicals leach into my bloodstream. I then starting trying all kinds of natural remedies (I avoid any type of pharmacutacels like the plaque). I did not want to get caught up in the medical merry go round or use any man made chemically derived creams or shots.

Let me point out here, I am not an expert, I'm just sharing what worked for me.

I came to Earth Clinic to see what has worked for others.. I tried many of the treatments others had tried, but not one alone did the job. They releived the symptoms, but it wasn't healing.

I've done a lot of research on Essiac for my cat, who has a tumor. Something told me to dig further, so I did, and read an article about a woman who had psorisis for something like 8 years and nothing worked, but when she tried Essiac, it finally cleared up. Knowing that Essiac is actually good for us (it's natural herbs that build the immune system), I decided to try it myself. I have read that they "think" psorisis has to do with a break down of the immune system, so using Essiac made good sense to me. I used an Essica Tincture, and put a half dropper full under my tonque 3 or 4 times a day. Along with that, I used the other items listed above, which I feel was the answer.. Not just one treatment, but a combo.

I started spraying a mixture of apple cidar vinegar (organic) and water on my skin after showering, then patting dry.. It's believed that the Apple Cidar Vinegar will help get your skins PH levels back on track.

I started using an organic Lavender Chamomile body butter. Lavender, as I think most people know, is just good for our skin, and Chamomile is the #1 leading herb for healing the skin. I have to say, I don't much care for the smell of Chamomile, but this combo of Lavender and Chamomile was incredibly soothing, so the smell was just a minor problem for me. One I quickly got over once I realized how much it was helping. Once I started using this, I was no longer waken in the middle of the night by itching/burning skin.

I read where many people had good results soaking in salt water. We have an iPool (excercise pool), so I purchased a salt water filtration system so I could basically soak in salt water every day when I excercised.. I made sure I got in the pool once a day for about 1/2 hour for 30 days straight. I would think soaking in a bathtub in salt water would create the same results. I used Morton Pool Salt, but I've read that Sea Salt works wondefully.

It took about a week before I suddenly realized my skin was really improving.. Within 2 weeks, it was itching/burning much less, within 3 weeks, remarkable improvement. It's been about 6 weeks since I started these 4 treatments, and the psorisis is pretty much gone. I would call it 99% better. My left leg and arms are completely cleared up, and my right leg, which was absolutely the worse, doesn't itch, it doesnt' burn, there is no raised skin.. This leg was very red January - March.. There is a slight discoloration in a few spots, but I have no doubt that, too, will clear up with time.

At first I was using these treatments daily. Now I spray the apple cidar Vinergar on maybe 2 times a week, I take Essiac 1-2 times a day, use the pool every other day or so, but do use the body butter daily, however, I was using it 4-6 times a day (whenver the itching/burning became noticable), but now I have to remind myself to use it because I'm no longer having symptoms.

I hope this information helps someone else. I never realized how distressful psorisis is until I developed it myself. I spent hours and hours researching natural remedies for it, and after trying this, that and the other thing, I have to say, these four treatments finally did the job!

Best of luck to all you Psorisis sufferers.

I wanted to leave an update on the posting I left a year ago about multiple remedies used for psoriasis.

By summer, my symptoms were completely gone and have never returned..

I no longer take Essiac (which I eventually found in pill form, making it much easier to take) and haven't needed to use the Apple Cidar Spray in forever. I was still soaking in salt water daily up until November.. I will return to that once spring hits (my excercise pool is in an unheated room). But I do still use lavender/chamomile body butter every morning and evening.

I have to believe it was the combo of these four remedies that finally did the job, since I had tried lots of other remedies prior to trying these four items.

I'm convinced, and my psoriasis free skin is all the proof I need! Natural remedies ROCK!!!

N-Acetyl Glucosamine (N-A-G) has almost cured my mom's psoriasis after more than 40 years. Where there used to be plaques, she has very light pink marks that are fading. She has tried many natural treatments over the years, and this is by far the most effective.. She also has had digestive issues (possible IBS?) which have improved as well.

She has been taking 1400mg twice daily, for 4 or 5 months.

About 5 days ago, I started developing a doozie of a cold sore.... In the same spot, on my upper lip, with the swelling (terrible) and blisters. I didn't develop the usual symptoms I normally get, which is swollen lymph glands and stiff, achy joints. I attribute that to the healthy fats I take in my morning smoothie. This cold sore triggered the psoriasis in my right ear. Needless to say, I was miserable with the nerve endings throbbing and oozing, etc.

So, after re-reading everything here on Earth Clinic, I decided to try the neem oil. I did some more research and decided to try the oil, instead of the leaves. The smell of the oil is kinda strong (resembles garlic) but, for me, this worked beautifully. Within the day, my ear stopped oozing and throbbing and wasn't so tender to the touch. It took my cold sore till the end of the following day to feel better, but it is healing..... For me, this is huge.. I have tried so much... Lysine, acv, vco, clay... Almost everything on EC... Lol. If you suffer from either of these, please give it a try. It's a wonderful healing oil.
