Hi Mama to Many - Tennessee. I have read quite a bit on the internet as I too suffer from Sinusitis almost all year round. About a year ago I had Surgery to remove Nasal Polyps, straighten a bent Septum and generally try to clear my Nasal passages as I couldn't breathe through my nose - Septoplasty/Ethmoidectomy/Antrostomy – Intranasal /Turbinectomy - Left and Right for all procedures other than the Septoplasty. NASTY OPERATION - HURTS LIKE HELL AFTER, but at least I can now breathe through my nose. PROBLEM - I HAVE NO SMELL AT ALL, and now very little taste. Smell and Taste both relate to the OLFACTORY receptors and sensory which is around the bridge of the nose and is responsible for Smell and Taste. No Smell, usually very little Taste as Smell is the major component of Taste. I read your comments on Hydrogen Peroxide and came upon a PRINCETON UNIVERSITY STUDY on the website LIVESTRONG that states DO NOT USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE as a Nasal irrigation as it can cause major damage I.e.

Aspiration Pneumonia

Cellular Reaction

Hydrogen peroxide interacts with the enzyme catalase, releasing water and oxygen. The release of water and hydrogen constitutes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. 1 cc of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide releases 10 ml of oxygen. If the rate of oxygen release exceeds the maximum solubility in the blood, venous embolism occurs. It is conceivable that chronic use of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide for nasal irrigation can yield a risk of chronic aspiration, and resultant venous embolism. Chronic lung exposure can cause partial or complete collapse of the lung.

I am again at the stage of almost despair as a world without sense of smell and taste combined with horrible thick mucous build up in the Sinuses is not a nice thing to live with.

I currently use a self made Nasal Spray in my attempt to keep any further Nasal Polys from forming. It contains a drop of Organic Tea Tree Essential Oil combined with about 8 drops of Lemna Minor and Calcarea PhosphoricaI (homeopathic drops) combined with Distilled water in a 25ml Nasal Spray container. I use this daily, which momentarily helps to clear a little of the thick Orange coloured Mucus build up (not Yellow or Green).

Unfortunately the thick Orangy coloured Mucus build up returns quite quickly so I will try the ACV tonic for ingestion and also for use with a Neti Pot combined with Sea Salt to see if in fact it helps with the Sinuses and post the results.

I normally don't leave comments on anything but I had to this time. I've suffered from sinus infections for most of my life (30 yo female) and have had sinus surgery, etc. I felt one coming on and had a raging infection two days ago. I began using my Neti pot, as I'm trying to avoid antibiotics unless they're absolutely necessary. The next morning I found this post and starting drinking ACV in water and already I feel an incredible difference. The infection is not quite gone but I am continuing to Neti, sip the tonic, and drink tea my husband has made me from our garden. I'm amazed!

I put 1/2tsp Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/2 tsp salt in 2 cup filtered water. Microwave for about 1 minute then put into the neti pot & administer. Do this 2x a day. It burns slightly but it works for me every time.

Mmsg, I've been having a dairy free diet since almost a year back, still got that constant feeling of something in my throat (mucus). I suspect it's my allergies (first diagnosed 17 years ago) since it worsens some months.

Anne, I've found ACV being really helpful with this problem! It helps instantly. I've been drinking it (2 tsp ACV in 2,5 dl/8 oz water) 2-3 times a day since yesterday. Hopefully you'll do with just 1 time a day, I need to repeat it still. I've read some ppl gargle it and then swallow, trying that out at the moment so no tips/own experience there yet.

Hopefully, in time, my allergies (am bothered by it 10 months a year) will get better. At the moment (now in my worst allergy period) I still need antihistamine along with the ACV though. So, I'm better but not cured!

Amazing. I have been miserable for days. I'm leaving on a day trip to the Lake Michigan shore early in the morning and I thought for sure I'd have to cancel so I could go to Urgent Care for an antibiotic. I snorted some warm water/ACV up each nostril and I am completely pain free and both sides of nose are taking air! 15 minutes ago! I've been a fan of ACV for a few years but haven't used it for months. I'm going to start using it daily again! Great tip!

I woke up on Friday with a sinus "drip" at the back of my throat making it feel kinda scratchy. By Wednesday I had a raging sinus infection complete with tremendous pressure & pain and a fever. One of the worst ever! Checked out EC & took 2 Tbs Apple Cider Vinegar in 8oz hot water with 1 heaping tsp raw honey around 1:00 in the afternoon I also did the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse in the neti pot, then repeated at about 8pm went to bed. Woke up the next morning feeling better and repeated said procedure. By 9:30 am Thursday I was feeling 90% better but continued the entire routine for an additional 48 hrs. Thank you EC I love this website!

I'm so glad I remembered this site. I haven't had this bad sinus infection for a long time & the Apple Cider Vinegar was just what I needed. It started working right away, I used as a sinus rinse. I'll drink it with tea through out the day. Is there any thing else I should do? Do you recommend the B----g organic acv? I didn't have it so I used what I had of another brand. Thank you.

I have to say, I tried both TX, the steam and the drink. I used ACV 1/2 Cup mixed with 1/2 filtered water- 5 min steam total of 2 treatments 1 day apart. It helped me with the headache, but still have a weak cough non-productive. Did not help with phelgm or mucus release, I supposed I don't have that much left in me. I switched to drinking in 2 TBSP ACV+ 1 tsp manuka honey at room temp. or warm filtered water. I have been drinking for 2 days, once daily.. and today feeling much better, no headache, no blowing my nose at all, only still the weak occasional non-productive cough and feeling some small amount of "phlegm" literally stucked in the upper lungs that does not move with coughing. Will keep on drinking this stuff, I am a firm believer in ACV beneficial properties.

Drinking diluted ACV for colds and sinus inflammation worked as promised! But I still want to know how to make ACV rinse though. Hope someone here can tell me. Thanks!

ACV for sinus infection: It does work but it's not easy. I find that I can eliminate a sinus infection using ACV mixed with water in a 3 to 5 days if I drink it diluted throughout the day. It does make my stomach upset because it is so acidic but without a doubt it works.

I'm going to try using the ACV capsules and see if they make me feel less sick on the stomach because I can barely stand it long enough for the sinus infection to begin to retreat.

I've been dealing with a sinus infection for a week or more. Haven't had one in years, but I'd also not been eating any wheat, sugar, or much dairy, and then I did, and got sick. Turned into a sinus infection. Saline helped but didn't give the relief that the Apple Cider vinegar has. It's also seeming to dry out all the copious mucus. I think I might be able to work out tonight without bursting into tears because of the head/sinus pain. Hanging upside down during circus training, and sinus infections don't mix! If I totally get rid of this, I'll try to post my good results.

Apple cider vinegar for sinus infections: Yes it works ... you can do ACV with some honey and it slowly clears you out. Just be patient and it works. I get lots of sinus infections so it was great to not have to take antibiotics. Suggest you also do the Neti pot with the salt as that clears out the existing congestion and ACV thins out the new stuff.

Apple cider vinegar for sinus infections works very well because it alkalizes pH in such a big way. I used to get sinus infections about 4 times a year thanks to the air quality in LA. Now I get one only if I've caught a virus, so about once a year. I attribute that to drinking ACV in water at least once a day. I keep a bottle hidden under my desk in the office for those Santa Ana windy days that really kick up my sinus inflammation!

I have been using apple cider vinegar for allergies and sinus infections for 30 years now. I read about it in DC Jarvis' book Folk Medicine a long time ago and always have a bottle on hand. It is a very effective home remedy. I often steam with it for sinus congestion. I also drink 2 teaspoons of vinegar in warm water twice a day during flu season.

Improvement for me. I have tried apple cider vinegar before a long time ago and then forgot about it. Last night, after reading this site, tried again and was first time I could sleep on me back and breath through my nose in ages.

Helped with the current sinus infection after a couple of hours and after another dose in the morning, have been breathing not completely clear, but much better today.

WOW, just wow. Apple cider vinegar cleared my sinus infection OVERNIGHT. Unbelievable. Wish I'd known this years ago.

Here's what I did:

Two tablespoons ACV, followed by forced liquids till bedtime. And, I mean FORCED. I drank about two gallons of water in a four hour period. This morning, I can breathe through both sides of nose, fever gone, no more pressure.

This is a truly amazing and simple cure that actually WORKS OVERNIGHT. And it only cost me .98. ACV and forced liquids... you got to try this.

I had been suffering the last three days with a Sinus infection and spent over 30 dollars on over the counter Sinus meds and sprays only to get temperary relief. I finally gave in and went to the doctor, who only gave me yet again, another nose spray and a perscription for an antibiotic (basically 8 capsules of cultivated mold) for 50 dollars... I don't know about you guys but I don't have 50 dollars to drop on my nose. But thank god I found the Apple Cider Tonic on this site, and within less then 30 minutes I could breathe through my nose again. Thankyou earth clinic, I'm going to continue using this treatment with a little less ACV though to see how it fairs againt my allergies. <3

My husband has had chronic sinus infections, with allergies. I found your article on the Internet and talked him into trying it, he suffered for years with ringing ears, dizziness, and no sense of smell, they all seem to go along with his sinus congestion and pain. As soon as he started the Apple Cider Vinegar, his ringing ears stopped, as did the dizziness, and he even smells certain odors. The pain also left. I thought he was just getting old with most of those symptoms, but they are gone and he feels great. We are both taking the vinegar everyday and will probably keep on, I have allergies and have problems breathing through my nose and get ear aches, those symptoms have gone away for me also.

Whoever came up with this idea deserves a medal! Sceptical but desperate I tried this idea today. Within 10 minutes of sipping the solution I bent down to pick something up from the floor and whooosh the whole lot cleared from my sinus. I've drunk the rest over the balance of the evening and have not had pain or drips since. It makes your throat a bit raspy but hey... What a simple yet effective fix. Much appreciated folks!!!

For about a decade, I'd have to get a prescription for sinus infection at least once or twice per year. The results were usually decent but took a while.

Since I found this site & home remedy 3 or 4 years ago I have not had to get a presciption even once! The results are phenomenal. It works quicker and more completely than antibiotics. The fact that it is natrual is a huge "plus".

I've found that the warm water with ACV and honey works best, for sure, but cold water and ACV will do a fair job in a pinch.

A big "Thanks" to all on this site for the amazing advice. What a huge help ACV has been for me.

Thankfully I found this website. I had a nasty cold and chesty cough, which turned into a vicious and lingering sinus infection, which would not budge even with numerous saline rinses and steaming, so by the 5th week I was driven to go the doctors, who prescribed antibiotics. I have also lost my sense of smell and taste for the last 2 weeks. I have ME/CFS and am very sensitive to medication especially antibiotics & steroids, so didn't really want to try them, but felt desperate. Needless to say I got terrrible side effects after only 2 tablets, so had to discontinue them.

I strated taking ACV last evening. I also did the special tea that Joel from Aliquippa, Pa posted on 12/20/2011. I was amazed that my sinuses began to clear straight away and I could smell fleetingly. This morning I suddenly could smell fully & went round sniffing everything. I had a lovely tasty, aromatic brunch of onion soup, then tuna, spring onion & lettuce salad with cider vinegar/olive oil dressing followed by poached pears in cinnamon with sultanas!! It tasted great!! I am so thankful. It was so getting me down.

I have had some more ACV today and my nose has cleared some more and I am beginning to feel better too. My chest is fine with only the odd cough. I am quite amazed by the effect of ACV. I only had the ordinary variety, but have ordered the special organic ACV & will always keep some in my kitchen from now on.

I have a severe sinus infection and it's the same old thing everyone else has commented on in regards to antibiotics, steroid nasal sprays, saline nasal sprays, hot steam, etc. Nothing has given me relief. I thought I'd try your recommendation with the ACV. I tried it using just regular organic ACV. It worked wonders after just one cup and, bonus, it relaxed me. I had another cup this morning and same results. I went to the health food store and purchased the raw ACV with the "mother" and I must say I didn't get the same results. I had better results with the regular, plain organic ACV. The one with the "mother" made me hyper and did absolutely nothing for my sinuses compared to the awesome results I had with the plain ACV.

This really works folks! I had a sore throat for 2 days and on day 3 in went into my sinus (where I have a deviated septum). The pain was excruciating! (even on 600 mg of Ibuprofen) I was volunteering at the school and I had to leave due to the pain. Couldn't get any air through my left side and extreme pain throughout the entire lower and upper sinuses. Miserable~!

I had already been taking probiotics, vitamins, drinking chicken soup. Here's what I did:
* 8oz hot water, 2 tbs ACV (organic unfiltered), 1 tbs raw honey. Drank this mixture every hour... 3 times in the evening.
* 2, 000 mg oral Vit D
* Probiotics
* HOT HOT water on a thick washcloth compress across the sinuses, hold for sever minutes and repeat.
* Saline nasal spray every hour

I was in bad shape, but went to bed (with head elevated) and woke up with no pain! Wow.

Folks, please, please don't take antibiotics until way after you try this.

I have had sinus problems for at least 10 years. I have used all the allergy medicines in combination with antibiotics, but hated the side effects. After getting this last infection I checked the internet for a cure and the ACV article came up, I thought I would try and after about an hour felt relief in my sinus. Nice simple cure. Thanks for the information.
