Hi. I have been using the Apple Cider Vinegar drops for 4 months now though the white blob pterygium is still on my cornea, so far the Apple Cider Vinegar has helped with the redness and irritation but white fleshy part is still on the rim of the iris. How ling did it take for yours to go completely?

I have had pterygium in both eyes for 3 years. I looked online for a natural solution to the problem since I couldn't afford surgery which is not only too costly but will not provide a permanent solution as pterygium is said to reappear after surgery. I came across this website. I mixed 4 part water and 1 part ACV and applied that very night. I woke in the morning and was surprised to notice the pterygium had shrunk a little. I have been using this solution for 2 months and the pterygium is almost gone.

However, note that the solution stings a little but subsides moments after. I encourage any one with pterygium to try it. My only regret is that I didn't take pictures of the stage of the pterygium before treatment. I personally want to thank the folks at earth clinic for making this known to us.

I have a pterygium that was causing my great discomfort.

My eyes were getting infected every 3 to 4 weeks and were prone to getting bloodshot most of the time. And at night after computer and TV screen use, they would feel very uncomfortable and feel 'gritty' and I had trouble keeping that eye open due to the discomfort. This post put me onto Apple Cider Vinegar and after only a few days, the discomfort was far less. Now after 6 weeks of use, my eyes feel terrific...not bloodshot and no discomfort. However the 1:3 dilution was too aggressive and so I went for 1:5. Still stings and takes a bit of getting used to but I have had no side effects, except positive ones. Truly very happy

Not much improvement but hopeful.

I have just been diagnosed with penguecular in both eyes which has been causing ityness and watery eyes for years. I always thought it was allergies so did the doctor so was treatng it as such. I have been using antihistmine which has had no effect (because it wasn't hayfever! ). Now I know what it is I can better help myself. I read here about ACV so have been using the ACV (with mother) recipe for about three weeks three times a day. Stings like crazy and eyes go a little blood shot for a few seconds. I'm presuming this is bringing nutrients to the eye? I haven't noticed any shrinking yet. When they start to feel a little itchy I put more drops in and it seems to give relief. I'm hopeful it might shrink the pings but just take time so I'll persevere. I will update in a few months.

ACV is the best my friend used it for 4 -5 months and this thing had already grown on the black part of his eyes AMAZINGLY after 4 -5 months of ACV, 1 teaspoon ACV and 3 teaspoons of water 3 times a day. It is almost completely gone. Be consistent and patient. I also have the same thing and have been using it for well over 1.5 months and seeing a big difference, white eyes, itchiness, and irritation are so much better now and even the growth is minimized. I will follow up in the future after a few months. Our doctors told us that the surgery should be the last option and is almost not advised as the regrowth will be worst. We were also advised to wear special sunglasses which were super expensive but isn't a bad idea to keep the direct UV rays out.

I checked Earth Clinic for pinguecula remedies but none came up. I searched pterygium and saw many good results with Apple Cider vinegar so I thought I'd try it.

Ive had a small pinguecula in my right eye for a few years now and a slightly larger one in my left eye. They would occasionally become irritated and itchy but for me I mostly hated the look of them! I felt self conscious of my eyes and didn't like that they always seemed yellowish and not clear.

I used the diluted Apple Cider Vinegar as directed on the website. (1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar plus 3 teaspoons distilled or filtered water) 1-2 drops in each eye 2-3 times a day.

It stings!! But only for a few seconds. At first I thought "Oh gosh, what have I done!?"

BUT!!!

It works!!! 3 weeks later one is completely gone, and the other one is nothing but A mere speck! Completely unnoticeable unless I look very closely! My eyes are clear and really white again. I am so happy!!

Hi there.

Has anyone had their pterygium totally go away with acv?

I've just started, but I'm too scared to carry on because I'm scared it get worse and I do not have 35k for a surgery! So scared I go blind or something ridiculous. I don't mind the sting, just really worried it'll get worse instead of better. I only have it in my left eye but now my right eye is starting to 'fold' or wrinkle, so it's like it's coming out in my right eye as well. Please advise?

Just want it to go away :(

Apple Cider with mother, diluted 1/3 with refresh.

used for 9 months now, and I started right after eye doctor said my Pterygium is growing back after having it surgically removed. I had my check up at 6 months of using the solution, and the eye doctors photos of my eyes shows no new growth, and actually to me, looked a little better. Its now 9 months later, drops few times a day..and my eyes do feel better, and looks as Pterygium is not growing. I didn't want to report until I felt my study was thorough. I have gotten used to the slight burn of the Apple Cider vinegar, but the relief outweighs that.

I'm now in my 5th month with the Apple Cider Vinegar treatment. Never felt better. The ptrerygium has not only minimized in size but the tissue as well. The water production in my eyes has increased greatly. My left eye which has the pterygium feels so much better. I've never experienced any dry, gritty and burning sensation anymore. I'm still very hopeful that this whole Apple Cider Vinegar treatment will really work.

Dear Natalie,

Read your post however you did not mention your dilution of the Apple Cider Vinegar and I cannot say for sure what's the cause of it but I've been using the Apple Cider Vinegar drops now for 3 months and so far it has brought so much relief compared to castor oil drops before and the numerous eyedrops my doctor prescribed to me. I feel like my eye with pterygium is so much normal although its still there and slowly fading. Before the Apple Cider Vinegar concoction, my eye was always red, very sensitive and heavy. If it wasn't working it would have been the other way around, right? On the other hand, I cannot speak for you as we have different physical attributes and maybe the Apple Cider Vinegar doesn't work for everyone.

Dear ray, I'm quite pleased with your post. I've tried ACV before but only for 1 wk due to the stinging effect. I couldn't handle it so I shifted to castor oil drops. However, after like 2 months nothing has happened although the condition of my left eye which is affected with pterygium has so much improved. No more dry ans gritty feeling.

Maybe out of frustration I returned to ACV drops just recently like 2 wks ago. To handle the stinging effect I diluted 10 parts distilled water and 1 part ACV. With this dilution I can somehow manage it and my eye is so much normal than before. The pterygium has shrunk a lil bit bit but its still there though. I've actually been documenting my treatment from the very beginning. Taking pictures of my eye during the castor oil and ACV treatment and in the process making comparison. At the moment, the pterygium has reached the cornea a few millimeters. With your wonderful news it has given me hope and maybe the rest of the people here who also suffers from this disease who doesn't want to undergo an operation due to its negative feedbacks from patients. Thank you ray!

Thought my eye would burst one day. Saw one specialist who told me I had to go for eye ope to remove the pterygium. Half of the cornea right eye was covered with the white stuff. It was bad ... And watery all the time. My dad who had cancer advised me to use Acv.

I started by making 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar and 3 part water. I would put drops into the affected eye. I tried this for about 6 months. Size of the pterygiun dropped. Wanna tell you something today. 2 weeks ago I started drinking Acv, one glass of water warm with 2 table spoons of Apple Cider Vinegar first thing in the morning and at bedtime.

Whaasaa results were shocking. Black part of the eye is coming out after 7 years. I have put my glasses away.... Unbelievable.

I've tried ACV on my pterygiums with modest success. So I guess I'll try the castor oil and charcoal to see if that helps any. But I did go to the optometrist today for some new reading glasses and I told him about ACV and he just laughed. I then went on to tell him that my local doctor told me that there is no cure for Tinnitus, from which I suffer, ( ringing in the ears. ) But ACV cured that condition in 2 weeks. So I wont be taking too much notice of the optometrist. I had an apendix removed at the hospital a couple of years ago and just prior to being wheeled in for the op a nurse visited me and asked me all kinds of stuff among which was whether I was taking any medications for anything. I told her, no, only multi vitamins and glucosamine and fish oil for my dicky knees, you know? supermarket stuff. She said that theres no evidence that any of that stuff works. I felt like saying but there is plenty of anecdotal. evidence to suggest that the medical pprofession can and will say whatever they like in order to maintain their monopoly of the health care industry.

I am a 41 year old African lady who got pinguecula in my late 20s. I now live in the USA. This eye disorder is very common amongst African people. I used to feel so helpless. I came across apple cider many years ago and have used it all the time, except I had never put it in my eyes. 3 weeks ago, I put ACV in my hair to make it softer and some of it went into my eyes. It really stung and I was worried. The net day I googled ACV in eyes and came across suggestions of it curing the pinguecula. I tried it and Oh good Lord!! The pinguecula has become smaller in my right eye and it's fading. I am totally shocked.I use the mixture of ACV and distilled water at least 3 times a day. My eyes are brighter and my confidence is coming back. I have always been so insecure and it had become mentally challenging to me because of my eyes. I used to have very bright eyes in my early twenties, but pinguecula had totally destroyed them. Just continue with the journey all of you out there. ACV works. My only concern is that it's fading faster in the right eye than in the left. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will eventually disappear in the left eye. My right eye is so much clearer and brighter than the left one. all the red veins I had in my right have almost faded.

Hi.. I came across this website searching for cure of my left eye with pterygium the natural way. I'm very much aware of the side effects of corticosteroid prescribed by my ENT so I stopped using it. I didn't wanna have surgery of my eye either. Anyway, came across with the apple cider vinegar phenomena and gave it a shot just two days ago after reading all the positive feedbacks. I followed the ratio of 3:1 (3 parts filtered water: 1 part acv). ( I bought the unfiltered/raw Apple Cider Vinegar at the supermarket.) 1 drop of the solution at 9 am and 1 drop 9 pm and honestly, it hurts like hell at first and my eye turned really red for a few seconds. However, I was overwhelmed of the results. Never had the gritty feeling, burning sensation the whole day today. And the best of all the yellowish tissue somehow faded a lil bit and the blob shrunk I think. I will keep you posted of any updates. Thank you is all I can say to earthclinic. You have given us hope for this intractable disease.

OMG, hallelujah to the person who discovered that ACV works for pterygiums!! I've been suffering with this condition in both eyes for YEARS. Nothing has worked, as far as OTC's. The eye doc, actually 3 different ones, said that most eye surgeons wouldn't tackle my pterygiums since they 'weren't big enough'. What???? They seem HUGE to me, along with the severe irritation and redness that never goes away. So last night I gave the ACV concoction a try. I mixed 1/3 ACV and regular tap water (I don't know, distilled may be better). One drop, each eye, and I was totally amazed at how much better my eyes felt. Now, the first 10 seconds you'll be cringing at the severe burning that the mixture caused, but after that......wonderful relief!

And this morning, when I woke up, I didn't have near the irritation that I usually have!! OH HAPPY DAY!! And only after one application. I am ecstatic and hopeful that after a few applications I'll have my nice, white color back to my eyes, and the pterygiums will disappear. I'll post an update after a couple of weeks. I'm soooo thankful that I stumbled onto this website, as I had no hope in sight for relief for my eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I was following the thread on pterygium/surfer's eye and the use of apple cider vinegar. I have been to the eye doctor 4 times and he has continued to provide Restasis which are drops that are supposed to aid in the eye to regenerate its own tears. I have had very little success with this treatment and decided 2 days ago to get unfilitered ACV. I purchased a small glass vial with a dropper. I also used distilled water and filled the vial with a 3:1 ratio of water to ACV. It does sting quite a bit at first. I have been placing a drop in each eye twice per day. I have to say that even after a couple of days I am very encouraged by the results. Less scratchiness in the eye, clearer vision and even the coloring looks better.

I will continue to post updates as I am trying this treatment.

Yes. I had my left eye pterigium removed. Horrible surgery! It has healed nice though. The surgeon said I had a gross lack of care for my eyes. I wasn't wearing sunglasses.

Now, I do have one in corner of right eye. Someone said the liver is involved. I have a sort of Wilson's Desease with copper problem.

I have resorted to vinegar in a eye dropper. Castor oil which is really soothing. It has been about a month. I will continue this treatments for as long as it takes along with charcoal and sunglasses.

Every morn and evening I do these, and really watch my diet. Not much junk foods.

Peace to the person who figured this stuff out. And maybe I can avoid another nasty surgery with microscopic stitches, which scratch!!!

Love to all, Ruth

My eyes also not as dry and red. Hoping they will go permanently.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Pterygiums

Big thanks to Willie for sharing this natural treatment, and creators of sight!!!

Posted by Willie Woodbine (Perth, Western Australia) on 06/27/2013

I had pterigiums in both eyes some years ago, and was contemplating surgery. I had blepharitis also - a long term problem. I started using diluted apple cider vinegar (ACV), applied with a piece of cotton wool, to control the blepharitis and it worked very well. But the best news was that both pterigia shrank away to nothing over a period of time, and surgery was not needed. Whether this was a pure coincidence or not I do not know, but I am sure that pH had a major bearing on it. I also use ACV to control tinea - most effective. It's all about acid.

I'm a Surfer, and I've lived on the water for years in a houseboat! As a result of my lifestyle I've battled pterigiym in one eye for years reciently the other eye was starting to get one as well! I don't trust doctors! Especially with my sight! When I found Will's story on the net, I thaught I'd give it a go! It's helped instantly and I m going to continue with the mix one teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar with ten of water till there gone! God bless you guys and apple cider vinigar!!!! Surfers forever!!! Sweet!!!

I've been using ACV for my pterygium for 5 days now and am very happy with the results. It has significantly reduced the redness, although I haven't noticed a reduction in the size yet. I'm wondering if anyone had used this method long-term? Will ACV actually cure the pterygium or is this just a natural way to control the redness and irritation? Thanks in advance!
